I totally agree with you Danny. It's important to try to understand our Mariah. Otherwise how can we consider ourselves her lambs?

Agreed. Beginning the album with Cry. makes a bold statement and sets the tone.

I love that the album starts with Cry. It reflects her feelings at that time and kinda set the mood for the album. In my opinion, MIAM is her "saddest" record because many of the songs are clearly about Nick.

So I really do like this album but there's just something about the sequencing of the tracks that annoys me. For one I don't really like the album starting with Cry. Just wondering whether anyone has reordered the track listing for a playlist that makes the album so better as a whole piece of work? Post your track listing.

You're forgetting U Make Me Wanna which along with IKWYW provided the perfect one two punch she needed at the time. Especially considering TEOM is an R&B album.

Frustrated fan (73,309)
by Danny from Uk
| |
|
|
Mariah has somehow managed to genuinely frustrate her fans and I think it's because we have invested so much of our own time, worry, love and devotion for her and her career. I think we are a unique fan base in that we genuinely want her to succeed not just for us but because she deserves it. We don't want to see a strong woman who in my eyes doesn't seem so strong right now. I have always had a conflicting opinion of Stella. Sometimes I think she's good for Mariah and that we are just disgruntled, then there's a worry that she really is insidious and shields Mariah from not just the truth but protection if that makes sense. We all wanted more and more Mariah and we got it in Mariah's World, maybe not in the way we expected but ladies and gentlemen that there is a woman stripped bear left vulnerable to the elements and if she hasn't got music to save her then I hope she finds it in her children.

Article: Mariah Carey, Joe Jonas not feuding, despite report (73,308)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I didn't even know this was a thing. Haha it's so random, like why would there even be a feud in the first place and yet Mariah's team responds to this instead of stuff that is directly harming her image. I'm sure Mishka lost her mind when she read one of her idols is apparently feuding with her employer so she went to her and demanded a statement be issued so as not to ruin her chances with him. She probably threw in an ass related compliment too.

Re: Memoirs one of Mariah's all around best albums (73,304) (73,306)

Maybe Memoirs would've been beyond "Perfect" if she included the song she worked on with Timbaland at the time. It would've broken up the one critic people have of being too samesy. Plus shortening it to 12 tracks would've given it a better punch. A track-list like this would've made it rival Butterfly in terms of epicness: 1. Obsessed 2. Betcha Gon' Know 3. Hate You 4. Candy Bling 5. Ribbon 6. Skydiving 7. Inseparable 8. Standing O 9. It's A Wrap 10. More Than Just Friends 11. Angels Cry 12. Languishing

This is what I love about this board, because I get to see different opinions about Mariah's music. It's great that you love MOAIA and that you compare it to Butterfly, because I think the exact opposite. It sounds more like Rainbow to me - I remember posting such comparison here years ago - similarities include more obvious filler, interludes... To me what lets it down is the same-y production, which is mostly due to its rushed nature. A little too cohesive for its own good. But it is still home to 3 songs that showcase Mariah's brilliant vivid storytelling (Betcha Gon' Know, Candy Bling, It's A Wrap) 3 songs with unfulfilled hit potential (H.A.T.E.U., Ribbon, Angels Cry) and one interlude that should have been a full song like the Rainbow Interlude was (Languishing).

Mariah and Busta (73,303)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Mariah will be featured on a Busta Rhymes track. Don't know if this is the same track she said is coming this month, but seems like it since she did say something about how her friend will be upset if she spills the details. Heard a few second snippet, it's a upbeat so I'm excited.

Mariah and Busta's new song (73,302)
by Malcolm from Asia
| |
|
|
So apparently that "friend" is Busta Rhymes. I don't know what to feel about this because of what's happening to her career right now, all those rumors about dropping her by Epic Records etc. Her musical career is like floating right now, it doesn't have no direction at all and I don't know what to expect. She better wake up to all the non sense, she used to be a musical genius and alluring person but now, all seems off. She's lucky she has this great catalog to cling on to. Sigh. I hope that this next song is great because if not, what's the point of releasing singles if it isn't successful? Better yet just put an amazing album that the fans will appreciate and stop competing with these young girls, leave that to JLo. Just have a credible career that you used to have and to set a great example for your children while they're growing up.

I'm always completely floored when someone says that this idiot is good with the twins. I've seen no behavior that says that he's good with the twins or any one else's kids. He sits next to them for 20 minutes or carries Monroe on his shoulders and he's "good with them"? Goodness, there are too many clueless adults, with very low standards, in the world.

I Know What You Want (73,300)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
This past week I was thinking about Mariah's big comeback to the commercial success she had in 2005-2010. Everyone (including me) links her success to We Belong Together. But even though WBT was the song that actually sealed her legacy for good and helped sell TEOM ten million copies world wide, I think there was a song before it that actually brought her back to peak commercial performance. I'm talking about IKWYW in 2003. The song was so hot and went Top 10 in about twenty countries world wide, not to mention #3 on the Billboard 100 and the UK at a time she couldn't buy a hit. I'm convinced that this song is what set up her comeback. WBT sealed it. But It's Like That benefited from her new found commercial success and I think Mariah herslef knows that because she still performs it over other songs in her live shows.

Re: Mariah and Stella in a relationship? (73,296) (73,299)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Mariah's personality before Stella was this extremely talented and super mysterious singer who would grace us with her presence and voice and then go back to her secret life, one we didn't know much about but we wanted to know and it kept us guessing. She had this thing where whenever she'd throw crumbs of her personal life at the fans, we'd be delighted and ohh-ahh over getting to see a glimpse of what this pop star is behind closed doors. Now she is so overexposed we are basically begging her to be more secretive. She has lost that mystery allure that she had about her that made people want to know more about her. See what Mariah used to be like is what Beyoncé is now. We don't know what she does once she's off stage, we want to know but we don't, we only get little snippets through her Instagram, that makes Beyoncé more appealing, that made Mariah more appealing. Yes there were PDA shots of her, a very recent one would be her racy moments with Nick on V-Day, but even then it was once in a blue moon thing she when we would be surprised. Now it's so frequent and staged, it leaves us, to put it bluntly, disgusted. I saw this Access Hollywood segment on her and there they were talking about how she needs to calm down and stop trying to feel the need to do crazy stunts to compete with the newer girls because she is on a league of her own and part of the top stars and because of her recent antics people are no longer laughing with her but laughing at her. They also talked about how her new manager and her crazy team including a bunch of amateurs and a 12 year managing her social media is like Trump's White House. It's crazy, her image is a mess, her performances are a hit or miss, she doesn't seem to care about taking care of her voice and she is on this publicity route where she basically seems to have lost control of the vehicle.

I think Mariah should keep her personal life private like she did before Stella. If she is a lesbian or bisexual it wouldn't change how I feel about her but I can understand why she'd think it coming you would ruin her image.

Nikki, I love your unique ability to close your eyes and pretend that the emperor has clothes on. By following your method, when I close my eyes, I can clearly see Mariah's Instagram, Facebook and Official website from 1990-2008. It's full of pictures of Mariah's public display of affection with Tommy, Derek, Luis Miguel, and Nick. I think you're kinda psychic. You should try and see if you can tell when it's going to rain.

Mariah was not his employee. I didn't make Tonka out as daddy replacement, you did by implying that he is good with the kids and saying that is a good thing. Nick and Mariah divorced, by mutual agreement and you don't know how often he sees the kids or what the logistics are. You know what TMZ says. Silly people prefer to glorify hired hands. Mariah will learn, or not.
