You're right about the class act thing but in this day in age, you have to be tough. Maybe it's all part of the plan so that Mariah never appears to be rude and Stella takes the s----.

I don't think that is Stella. She's too busy ruining Mariah's career. It must be "Mariah's social network manager" Mishka. Or Sasha.

Biopic (70,957)
by Dennis from Miami, FL

I really hope that Stella will fail with the biopic. I don't believe she can make it right. It would be another trashy project. It's 15-20 years too early and Mariah's saga is still going on. I hope she will abandon the idea.

I have had many French friends, thus I feel qualified to say this: you don't write English like a French person. I thought Eric was going mad. But there's something not right here. Whether the demon or her young spawn: Vous n'ĂȘtes pas qui vous dites que vous ĂȘtes.

Stella, you've revealed yourself (70,948) (70,954)

MesStella, stop pretending, will ya? You've been the worst thing that has happened to Mariah, the worst. Her career is at an all time low because you don't know shit about music or how to manage her brand. This is Mariah f**king Carey we're talking about. I know you have a few sycophants on this board, for all I know they could be accounts created by your family. When you're long gone, we'll still be here. I just hope you don't take Mariah down with you. You are unprofessional and an asshole, you don't have manners or decorum, you shouldn't even be even called a woman, Alpha-tella would be better. Hurry up and keep giving out interviews, we're loving every minute of it. The more you talk, another nail goes on the coffin of your career.

It's very funny what Stella Edouard said: "And let's be honest here. She's not that rude," when she uses the F-word in almost every sentence. I can't stop laughing. I think a class act deserves a class manager.

Mariah's World (70,952)

Funny how they had to plan a European world tour, bring some corny dancers in, hire an assistant that I really doubt Mariah would tolerate, make a Kardashians wannabe her manager and plan fake parties and then expect us to think this is Mariahs World. Oh maybe it is.

Okay she's rude but so damn refreshing. Don't forget that that we never really (I mean really) know what happened with Tommy other than what Mariah dared to say (remember she once said they had a legal agreement). Something terrible must have happened. I'm glad Stella put him in his place since Mariah can't for many reasons (legal, and she probably has better to do anyway). They are a team. They would be man [sic], everybody would applaud her. So what if she's rude, if she's right? And let's be honest here. She's not that rude. Just a bunch of f---- here and there. That's all.

Lol Mimi L. she could call her next project "Freakshow". But really, she should really write some back to basics songs in 2017, songs with great music and lyrics. Perhaps she can write a song or two with Lionel, Big Jim? But this might be a good time for her to employ a good team of songwriters to tailor some songs for her. She has been all in her feelings and we aren't sure what they are or who they are about at this point. I hope her next music project is gimmick free, no shade, no stunts, just really great songs. I think the three movie deal is not all in one year, but over time, but even Crustella admits they won't get one done by February. And she is supposed to have a song for each movie. Mariah needs to slow things down a bit and fully embrace each new venture and fully prepare to slay each event.

Good point, Andrew. MC is certainly on everyone's radar right now, even if it is due to negative circumstances. Assuming the old adage is true and there is no such thing as bad publicity, she has the perfect opportunity right now to stage a comeback attempt whilst most of the public think she's at rock-bottom. This is all hypothetical of course as I don't believe many, possibly any, of the components required for a successful comeback are present in Mariah's life at the moment. Back in 2003-2004, you could have never made me believe that Mariah would be back on top again. I didn't write her off myself, but the public perception of Mariah during the "Glitter" fiasco was just ugly and I never would have imagined she would have a career resurgence, so hey, anything is possible.

Article: The deterioration of Mimi (70,944)
by RibbonB from USA

She speaks the truth and with great compassion. I especially love the last paragraph and this sentence. "If Mariah Carey wants to resurrect her voice she must first repair two other things: her physical health and her spirit." I really hope she does both the inner work and and gets some good plain old exercise in so she can renew. I love that the writer calls out Brett Ratner as a sleazy so called friend.

A lot of people like "mess". This is the era of Trump winning while being a "shallow, bottom feeding hustler of the nation". Mariah is catering to a certain demographic. According to Stellar it is 12 year olds, who have time to spend on the gram I guess. But they won't be buying those Lionel tickets or paying for anything directly, so there is the disconnect. M. and this circus may appeal to the social media devotees, but not the the general paying public.

Mariah's World (70,942)

Mariah's World has descended into farce and I won't watch anymore of it. It was a nice idea, but it is not what I thought it would be. It is, like many things Mariah does of late, a lie.

New Year's in New York (70,941)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
Aside from being very dignified in her handling of what happened, the other positive from NYE was a reminder of just how truly globally known Mariah Carey is. The story was everywhere, and everyone was talking about it. It was in the top 10 of news stories read on the BBC website for over two days after it. Quite remarkable. In part, yes, I think it's because people don't like her and rejoice to see her fall. But, whatever the reason, I am not certain that if it had happened like that to another artist it would have been such a big global story. However, I am certain, though, that some lowly goat herds in the middle east were plotting Jihad whilst debating earpiece-gate.

Re: Mariah Carey's legacy in critical condition (70,910) (70,940)
by Andrew from UK

Honeypie, cutie, baby, sweetie pants: the buses don't stop around your neck of the woods, do they? Whilst your devotion to MC is fantastic, constantly trying to pretend that everything is as it was and that no damage has been done is delusional at best and retarded at worst. Mariah does indeed leave behind a great legacy of outrageous achievements, a catalogue that defies expression in less than a dissertation and not-often-paralleled global success. But the memory of a person is often about what they did not achieve or failed in or their negative attributes just as much as what they did achieve or succeeded in or their positive attributes. NYE was a catastrophe on a global scale, despite the gracious and dignified way she handled it. Yet this isn't her downfall, per se, as the downfall has been quite slow and progressive. Many things over the past few years have been completely awful (which I think was one of the first things I ever posted here) and have contributed to a public opinion of Mariah that would score her only a few percentage points in a poll of music artists. Mariah is now seen as a somewhat of a dimwit, stuck up, cheap jewellery flogging, titty-revealing, billionaire using, shade-throwing lip-syncer by a great, great many people. Add in the sad denouement of Mariah's World and there you have it: indeed, Mariah will be remembered for her stellar music career, but in exactly the same thought or sentence she will be remembered as a bit of a joke. She has done that to herself. Nobody else. So be truthful, at least, just for once. It doesn't mean you love Mariah any less, it just means you're not deluding yourself in a comfort blanket of false hope and misrepresentations which is a way of living that most people find contemptible. Basically, come live with the regular people on the bus routes. You get to appreciate and understand the world for what it is, not merely what you wish it to be.

Molly (70,939)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

I'm surprised Molly is an artress. Not because everything with reality tv is exaggerated to stretch the story that is being presented to the viewers. Honestly this vehicle is using Mariah's name to promote Stella and company. I just wish Mariah would get more serious and assertive. She should allow Stella to handle tv projects only depending on what they are. She bring in another diversed manager to handle the music and business endeavors. Because truthfully Stella continues to show her inexperience with her recent interviews and just her interaction with the rest of the team on Mariah's world. But if I can make a call Stella would be out of there.

The "Real Fans" of social media (70,929) (70,938)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Following an artist on social media doesn't necessarily means they're going to buy her music. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram don't necessarily translate into sales or support. Had it been that way, where were those fans when MIAM dropped? And please do not use the excuse that MIAM wasn't promoted so they didn't know, if they were real fans of Mariah's, they should've known, just like we all here did. That should give you an indication that regardless of social media, Mariah doesn't have many fans left. You condescending attempt at dismissing fans from this messageboard labeling us "old fans", as if we didn't now what's going on or don't represent a core part of her remaining fan-base is ridiculous. As I said before, the TEOM was successful because she had great music, great guidence, she was listening, and she had a great experience seasoned manager. Those things didn't just happen, they were carefully put in place. If Mariah keep going this way, when she drops her next project, however great, she'll have her rude awaken, then I would like to see what your excuse is going to be. While most of her fair-weather fans have gone with the wind, we're still here not matter what. Barbra Streisand amassed a core fanbase that will follow her to her grave and after, Mariah can't say the same. Now ask yourself why?

The Hitmaker (70,937)
by Dennis from Miami, FL

Quote from The Hitmaker. The following is a commentary to the chapter "The Billions-Dollar Song". Michelle Anthony: "Selling tens of millions of Celine records was really important for Tommy, too, because it showed that here was another female vocalist whose career he helped develop and broke who was now outselling Mariah. To be able to replicate what he'd done with Mariah was really important to him. He proved he could do it again. And then again with Shakira. And then, yet again with the whole Latin Explosion."

Tommy and Mariah (70,936)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |
|
|
Tommy and Mariah were beneficial to one another in the sense that she wanted to be a successful singer/songwriter and he had the right connections to make it happen. For Tommy he was the head of major recording company and needed to break a new female artist that could compete with the top tier of female singers of the mid-80's to the 90's and that person was Mariah. So to sum it up when they were on the same page they were a great business force and brand. But as romantic lovers and life long partners they were not at all a great combination.

Mariah 2017 (70,935)
by Anthony Carey from U.K

Happy New Year guys. Well first of all I want to say about the whole NYE incident and that even though it wasn't Mariah's best moment to say the least, look at all the public interest it has gained. They do say there is no such thing as bad publicity. Anyway, I think generally we need to just accept it and move on - especially as technically it was last year. I have been enjoying watching Mariah's World as it has shown I think the general public a different side and the amount of non lambs in my working environment that are getting onto the show and actually enjoying it is really good. I know people hate the whole "reality/docu-series" essence but that is the current climate we live in. With regards to Stella I really don't have anything negative or positive to say except that I feel she just is not suited to Mariah as her client, maybe somewhat out her depth as this was certainly a game changer for her. The one thought that keeps crossing my mind lately is where is Sony throughout all of this? Didn't Mariah sign back to them and they are letting her do whatever she pleases? I feel they need to step in with a heavy hand for Mariah's sake.

Re: Confirmed: "Molly" is an actress (70,923) (70,934)
by DK from USA

Mimi - I agree with your frustrations but I am also a bit conflicted. I recall Mariah in the first half of her career distancing herself from endorsements (there are a few interviews where she directly said she would rather focus on music). But times have changed and she certainly has bills to pay and probably finally gave in. The fact is that, yes we as fans love her music, but the general public did not react greatly to her last two albums Memoirs (the label funked up the singles - Angels Cry should have been a first single in my opinion) and Chanteuse (she broke her shoulder/divorce etc). And let's not talk about #1 to Infinity. For an artist of her caliber, I think these projects were handled quite poorly in terms of their release (this is a label and Mariah handling). Memoirs should've been released as a remix album (Jump Smokers) from the very beginning but someone changed their mind midway (this was the time when Lady Gaga "brought back" dance music). Shoulda, woulda, coulda. And in the midst of it all we have dem babies. So for MC the hunger for music may not be there as much as we want her to be hungry. Is Stella, the producer, leading her to what Stella knows best... productions? Is Stella in it to benefit her own agenda as well? Of course, but who isn't? Don't we all go to work to make money and advance our careers? I think MC is very well aware of who Stella is. But this is where she is in her life and these are the options she is dealt with, hence her choices. I wish MW would have been a great introspective of her music and creativity mixed with dem babies moments (she has never been public about her relationships which is why the James/Tanaka thingie comfuses the crap out of me), but overall she seems to be very guarded when it comes to her personal processes (I don't recall seeing Mimi shedding the kinda of tears we saw with Beyonce in her documentary following her on tour) which is why she is totally fine with letting other characters in the show take the spotlight for the sake of her contractual obligations.
