Re: Crustella Deville (70,695) (70,698) by Luke from United Kingdom
I do remember Mariah saying in an interview that there were other creative avenues that she wanted to explore. I'd imagine this is it. People need to stop thinking Stella has Mariah on a leash and that all this could quite possibly be a lot of Mariah's ideas.

Re: Crustella Deville (70,695) (70,697) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Oh no. Who needs this? I fear Mariah won't "let her go" soon. I said it hundred times before, this "manager" is poison for Mariah. And if it's true that Crustella said the thing about NY Times Square it's a new low. Instead of being professional and protect the artist without being rude.

Stella, oh Stella. This is just making me believe more and more that Bulochnikov is probably behind the sabotage so she can get her 15 minutes of fame. Haha joking, but seriously why is she going around doing interviews though? This is her second in 2 days. Plus her attitude is so wrong with all the swearing and bad mouthing. Stella thinks only of the short term. Her brain can't process what these disputes will lead to in the long run. Mariah needs big TV channels to be on her side but of course Stella is just fine with Hallmark. About the apology part, when DCP offered to give a joint statement, Stella could have just told them to apologize in it, instead she straight up said no to it. Then talking about how Mariah is ignoring it, good Lord. Just lie if you have to and say "Mariah is heartbroken that she could not give the performance she prepared for her fans and the audience, she is sad she couldn't give the performance they deserved but she is trying to stay strong." Saying Mariah is ignoring it and Mariah is the biggest star there and Mariah did them a favor is just rude and arrogant.

Crustella Deville (70,695) by Licia from USA
She isn't going anywhere and I don't see any new music in the future. There's this article about how she and Mariah are partners and started a production company called Magic Carpet Productions. I see Mariah moving further and further away from music. Here's the article if anyone wants to read.

Example of delay (Michael Bolton National Anthem) (70,694) by John from Italy
If the delay/reverb conditions were like these, I understand it was almost impossible for her to continue. If you notice, even the small parts of "Emotions" she tries to sing, are slightly out of time. But I wonder, ignorant as I am: coudn't she follow her "inner hear", i.e. singing for what she was hearing, and follow her own tempo, ignoring the echo? The resulting audio broadcasting would be awfully out of tempo, of course, but maybe - and I say maybe - people would have blamed the technicians for this, and not her. Or maybe could it have been worse? The world would have thought that now she can't sing to the beat anymore?

Media all over the world roll this story into an unbelievable extent and Mariah's reputation really sufferes from this tv-produced mess as she was left "deaf" on stage. I personally loved her reaction and I wouldn't act differently. She tried to turn the situation into a positive moment but she is a human being and she was 100% right to get finally fed up. What happened on New Years Eve would never happen on her proper concert, where she has her own tech people who do their job properly and if something goes wrong, they fix it immediately. But hey, we live in a viral world. But anyway, MC, love you always.

Re: Fest suggestions to Mariah (70,676) (70,692) by Lexingz from Estonia
The answer to why it keeps happening: She is afraid to put her foot down and take care of herself. The example of not taking care of herself would be - she knew that her earpieces were not working, but still agreed to go onstage. If she were courageous enough to take care of herself she would not have gone on stage in those circumstances. And would have been called a diva once again. Sometimes you can't win. But she herself is the only person who could stop that situation and stop being pushed around. I am just gonna wait here until it happens. Or until she manages to hire a manager who is powerful and seasoned enough to protect her.

After the year end disaster, there is no way any other TV producer would invite her to sing live. Let alone Grammy.

I consider myself a pretty objective person. I'll take Stella's account, it sounds the most plausible. The media loves to tear Mariah apart when they can. Nice to see Stellar step up and defend her client.

Mariah's only saving grace (70,688) by T from USA
I have to say the only thing I can think of that may save this year for Mariah is for her to show up as a surprise performer at the Grammy's. Open the show with just a piano and a microphone and sing a tribute to George Micheal. Have his picture on the big screen and sing "One More Try". The song is probably the most relevant song to her right now if you listen closely to the lyrics.

The public's reaction to NYE (70,687) by Gigi from USA
I've probably spent more time than I should reading people's comments to the NYE incident. Overall, it seems to me that people are just fed up with her as a person. The lip syncing would be talked about but possibly forgiven if non fans didn't think she was a self-absorbed diva who tries too hard. Everything that has happened over the last two years has come crashing down on her - from the almost nude photos on Instagram, the revealing ensembles, the gold digging rumors from the Packer breakup, the South American tour cancellation, the awkward "I don't know her", "I won't answer any questions", "Look at my diamonds" interviews she's been giving lately and Mariah's World being a joke. It's only getting worse with Stella running to TMZ with blame game stories. I was shocked when I read that she actually said, "We could be in Aspen right now having the best time instead of being in dog s*** Times Square that smelled like a f****** sewer." Like really, Stella? Such a low blow considering Mariah lives in the city. I just don't understand how Stella can tweet that "Sh*t happens" and then start blaming DCP and ABC. I know this may sound cheesy, but I really wish Mariah would've stopped the music and started singing "Hero" A capella since every person and their grandma knows the words to that song. She could've asked the audience to bear with her as she couldn't hear herself and asked them to sing along if they knew the words. It would've been amazing to see all of Times Square singing her signature song.

NYE performance (70,686) by 123 from USA
She didn't need this gig Stella. What was she there for? She promoted the hell out of her Christmas music and should be on vacation until after the new year and then send her back to the studio. She had no new music to promote and a check shouldn't have been the only motivation. Not all money is good money. From some of the videos I've seen she couldn't hear enough to wing it, that's why she spoke over the pre-records. Here are some postings on this other fan site indicating the same thing. Good Morning America said she was "blind" out there without her earpiece here. Why does this ear piece malfunction keep happening and why is there not a plan b and c if the earpiece fails. Second or third back up plan. Looks like Mariah rehearsed some, but then she says they didn't rehearse the sound on Emotions. If you are not going to attend your sound checks and rehearsals don't go on stage. I would like her to give up the alcohol and go to rehab and record. Come back and hold a press conference of her singing a song with just Big Jim Wright and drop a hot single the same day.

Re: Fest suggestions to Mariah (70,676) (70,685) by Marissa from USA
Yes. Even if Stella had nothing to do with this debacle, she still is the queen of burning bridges and destroying relationships, and even if Mariah fires her today she will still have to deal with the aftermath long after she's gone. I understand wanting someone who you feel stands up for you and is in your corner, but Stella takes it too far because she has absolutely no class or diplomacy. Even if it was DCP's fault, she could have put that out there without being dramatic and labeling it as "sabotage". Now imagine if something like this would have happened at the Grammy's or VMA's and Stella would have released a statement like that. I know she may think she's tough with her iPhone, unblended makeup and 12 inch acrylic nails but her petty clapbacks don't stand a chance against a big network or company that wants a war against Mariah. It's kind of like having a gang member as your bodyguard. They might defend you but their own beefs with other people might f*** around and get you killed. It's not just about Mariah and her individual actions. She will pay for the sins of the company she keeps too. Mariah is in too vulnerable of a position to allow fights to be picked with corporations. As long as she keeps lipsyncing and doesn't take care of her voice it will always be easy to "sabotage" her by releasing mic feeds and exposing backing tracks to create a viral, humiliating moment. Stella better shut up (or better yet step down ).

NYE performance (70,684) by Joe from United Kingdom
I aint posted here in awhile but here goes. I got love for Mariah, I even went to see her at the Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour in London where she did a good job. I'm just at a point now where I'm like I'm not gonna make any excuses anymore. I have to be real, people already don't wanna see you win which is sad but what can you expect when everytime you sing on national TV where it counts where everybody will be watching you either completely lip-sync or make an unrehearsed embarrasment of yourself. I actually think when she wants to she can still sound pretty good, her improvising and freestyle moments show that. If you ever want to sing on TV again sit on a chair, drop the glamour, drop the I gotta have the right camera angles, forget going on stage with a glass of wine in your hand, drop the key of the song to what you can manage, rehearse it and sing the song. You are a singer. I understand not having anything to prove but have you completely lost sight of what made people fall in love with you in the first place. I'll continue to be a fan but this is just getting a bit ridiculous now.

Mariah and Stella called train wrecks on news (70,683) by Ty from USA
Dang man, the radio was brutal calling Mariah lazy and pass her prime. They said she won't focus on her craft and she's scared to sing and Stella just let's this continue. Benny medina would never.

Thanks for the explanation. I've been trying to understand how the ear piece and monitors could effect the performance and how them not working prevented her from continuing. I want to understand what happened. Not just throw sand in her face.

Mariah Carey team: Here's what really happened (70,681) by THE TRUTH from USA
Okay Mariah needs to run not walk away from Stella and family as fast as she can. Yeah Mariah dropped the ball, and messed up big time but if she owns up to it and accepts responsibility (something she's never done in her entire career) people will cut her a break because she's a legend and has written so many songs which are like the soundtrack to so many people's lives. If she continues to have Stella run interference, lie, and insult TV networks, production companies, media, etc on her behalf and in her name the only winner in the end will be Stella. Mariah will forever be a punch line and the brunt of cruel jokes. There is much damage control to be done as is clearly evidenced just reading the comments on Lionel Richie's Facebook page. People aren't looking for arrogant diva-ness, that's tired. Some humility and authenticity would go a long way right now. Taking a long break and finally coming back with a great record wouldn't hurt either.

Re: Something in the buttermilk ain't clean (70,673) (70,680) by Jo-B Sebsky from United States
It's called the voice jammer effect. On a stage that big and among a crowd that large singing without a monitor is impossible. Without the monitor, you sing into the microphone and hear your voice back delayed by a few milliseconds (depending on the how large the venue is) because your only audio reference is the speakers facing the audience. She was able to sing small phrases but if she sang anything longer the delayed audio reflections would have messed her up and she'd immediately have issues continuing. The dancers, on the other hand, don't need monitors because they aren't contributing sonically. This means they can react to the music without worrying about losing their timing because they don't have to worry about delay.

Auld Lang Syne / Stella's EW interview (70,677) by G.G. from USA
Auld Lang Syne was lipped ok, why not keep going? This whole situation is weird, something isn't right. I see Stella is back to telling people to f- off. How classy. What a good look for Mariah, having a trash bag as a manager.

Fest suggestions to Mariah (70,676) by Edward from USA
I won't regurgitate what everybody has already stated concisely and precisely. These are a few suggestions to Mariah
1. Take a break from the spotlight for a year or so, you've already made enough headlines for the wrong reasons. Let us miss you, be elusive.
2. Get Mariah's Word off the air, it's not a good docu-series but it isn't good reality either.
3. Go back to that place where you had nature and horses around you while you wrote those great songs on a notepad.
4. Forget about touring for now, and focus on your babies, on your mother, on your music.
5. Work on your voice and comeback with great music. Great music is great regardless of chart position.
6. Lay off the booze, it has clearly affected your voice greatly, but there's still hope. Work with a vocal coach.
7. Get rid of Stella, even though she comes across as if she were always rooting for you, she and her foul mouth are about to get you in trouble because she lacks professionalism.
8. Take this NYE performance as a sign for you to humble yourself and get real professionals in control of those things you don't know
We can't pretend this is an isolated incident, it has happened many times before at different magnitudes, but it has. The question would be, why does it keep happening?

Re: NYE performance (70,656) (70,675) by Licia from USA
I agree. I don't believe she planned to lip the whole thing. I expected there to be some. I was just flabbergasted by her not stopping and either having someone fix the issue or try to sing what she could. It made me sad to see her so defeated, but it pissed me off that she gave up so easily. They are even handling the press surrounding this wrong in my opinion.
