Infamous is... (66,878) by Lainsky from Philippines
Better to stay as a song from that Empire soundtrack and that's it. Well, just my opinion after listening from it for the first time. Who knows it grows in me and my opinion might change but that does not matter anyway. What matters is how the listening public, radio DJs, and music buyers would take it. Sorry but I just terribly miss her Pop with RnB twist sound.

Re: These songs represent the real Mariah not Infamous (66,862) (66,877) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
Wholeheartedly agree. I feel like the original post was listing songs that Mariah resents having to record. She's clearly more ODB than she is Westlife.

Infamous (66,876) by darrian liu from taiwan
Wasn't as good as I expected it to be, but nonetheless an improvement over Infinity. I was pleasantly surprised by how rich and earthy her midrange is, but I wish she could let her vocals roar more, because it seems like she is holding back a bit too much. My problem with this song, aside from the forgettable melody, is that the song never really seems to hit that climax nor does it have a sense of resolution. If there is a good climax the song would have been better, but I like it. Jussie shouldn't have used so much autotune though.

Re: Infamous is ok (66,871) (66,875) by Sheila from United States
Evidently, most of you dont watch Empire. The song fits perfectly into there just below the radar type hip hop/rnb vein. Some of you have picked the song apart saying she is straining vocally. Do you have a degree in music? No. You don't. You have no idea about vocals. Most of you are just mean and spiteful. Again. The Navy and Beehive would never. This board has become a board for bashing Mariah.

Infamous (66,874) by Cassie from Canada
Infamous was just released and it is pretty standard but that's okay. Why? It's okay for now because it's for Empire and not for Mariah. It's a whole different point of view and it reminds me of Taraji P. Henson's character and Terrence Howard's because their love is infamous because they've been through thick and thin together. Also we should be thankful that Mariah's lyrics are clear and not breathy and airy or super raspy. The song is straight forward and her voice actually sounds like it's in a good condition and not in a bad one where she's out of breath or cracking. As well as the message of the song because it's not being danced upon and having all the lambs like "WTF" is this about. It doesn't all have to be about vocal gymnastics because nobody in my generation (because I'm 13) value them that much. That auto-tune for Jussie's part needs to cut but besides that it's mature and beautiful song. Why aren't you lambs valuing just vocals and piano with a little beat because it's clean and simple? I bet that when lambs or anybody finally watches it in the show they're going to understand and most likely start liking it because you'll gain an understanding of the setting and where it's coming from.

I wonder (66,873) by Edouard from France
There is a solo version of "Infamous". I think there is one because Mariah spent time in the studio recording his vocals with hers already recorded. P.S. I actually like the song because it's different. it's not Mariah being "tada here I am". She did it to compliment the show and I think that it does the job. It's [...] one of the best song the show has ever had. Mission accomplished.

I don't think anyone is stabbing Mariah in the back. It's a song, people will either love it, be indifferent, or dislike it. There are songs of Mariah's throughout her catalogue which divide fans. We all love her and want her to have success, but blindly supporting a song just because it has her name stamped on it is madness. Infinity, Why You Mad, and Infamous have, for many, been three duds in a row. Beautiful and MIAM were great, so she is more than capable of her usual high standard.

Wendy defends Mariah (66,870) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
So Wendy defended Mariah against Miley's hypocritical rant, saying something like, "you don't talk about 'The Voice' like that" and "Mariah can sing you under the table", and even compared the much, much, much lesser MC to a "carnival act". Well Wendy, thank you, I guess? Nothing's shadier than inconsistency.

Producers (66,869) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Every producer in the music industry is known for a signature style or sound it is just we know the Mariah/JD/BMC sound so well we have become weary of it. Take Usher's new album for example he went without the JD/BMC sound and his album is not fareing too well chart wise so I say that to say this no matter who an artist works with the material and art have to connect. Another prime example MC and HB (MIAM) Money and thirsty didn't work, while MC/JD (MIAM) did work "Make it look good, you don't know what to do". So for me it's all about the music, artist, producer and the connection that the music makes with the listener. Hopefully MC just takes her time with this new opus and makes great music and not try and chase what's on the charts.

Infamous (66,867) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Out of respect for the fact that it's been Mariah's first release in over a year, I decided to give Infamous another shot. Now, I can actually make out the verses and the chorus save for that terrible bridge, but not after listening to it first for at least 5 times an hour over the past half-day. I've come to appreciate Mariah sticking to her mid-range, although I feel she might have restrained herself just a tad too much. That being said, at least her voice wasn't as processed or strained as it was on Infinity. But the heft and tone of it, though sounding a bit lazy, is just undeniable. The production is generically dated, and the beat is overly familiar. It's a low key moment, and I hope this is not an indication of her upcoming material. If I'm being optimistic, I'd like to consider this the "U Make Me Wanna" to herald her new comeback.

Only on this fanbase. I don't understand the need to bitch around, like you can explain respectfully. What is the point when you have nothing good to say in everything she does? I got to send the embedded Vevo clip of the song to other people and they like it. Infamous is a moderately good song therefore it doesn't deserve that kind of backlash especially in her fans.

Re: Infamous is ok (66,856) (66,865) by Licia from USA
Didn't you talk crap about the song too? Lol I'm ok with the song. Again it's not the greatest song ever, but it's decent. However some people don't like it and that's fine. Being a fan does not mean we have to like everything. Fans like the Navy and the Beyhive are the reason the music industry has been flooded with so much crap music so I'm glad alot of Mariah fans are not anything like them.

Miley is Lindsay Lohan in the making. A non-factor, tabloid sucking harlot/starlet.

True. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting for a different result. No one was exactly surprised when Infamous sounded like the same ground that has been trampled on over and over since her comeback.

Sorry no one wants a new Walter Afanansieff collaboration the magic lies within Mariah not Walter. Seeing as she has written equally profound songs on par if not I dare say better than the ones she did with Walter just playing piano. Walter's work was always overproduced and borderline schmaltzy and her voice buried under layers of music tracks instead of front and center. The real Mariah Carey is an R&B/Soul singer in the vein of Aretha, Patti, Chaka & miss Blige.
Mine Again
We Belong Together
Your girl
Vision of Love
Do You think of me
Underneath the stars
Melt Away
One Sweet Day (Leans more towards r&b)
Through the Rain
Bliss
Fly like a bird
Faded
Baby doll
The Roof
The Art of Letting Go etc. Now this is the real Mariah Carey. A soul sister and R&B queen.

I happen to be one of the people who didn't think the song was that bad, but are people allowed to have an opinion though? Just because you're a fan doesn't mean you have a moral obligation to be ecstatic about everything she puts out. That's not even realistic. What if the song just isn't someone's taste? As long as someone isn't cursing her out or being extremely disrespectful, I don't think that makes them a bad fan.

I'll second that. The song is quite forgettable. I too was trying to remember it but couldn't. It's weird because that hardly ever happens to me with Mariah songs. I listened to it twice, might give it a few more spins and watch how they play it out on screen but I don't think I'll be adding it to my playlist.

New sound (66,859) by B from USA
Since 2005 Mariah has worked primarily with JD in an attempt to recreate their winning formula. However, their formula is no longer winning. Despite a few standouts (Dedicated and For The Record) their work together has been lackluster and uninspired. If Stella cares about Mariah's legacy she should suggest Mariah to work with new producers. I want Mariah to make another comeback. It's basically a must at this point after so many underwhelming and underperforming singles.

No more JD and BMC songs. Their sound is so outdated now. Tweet: Please Mariah, your lambily would love another Walter A. collaboration. We want we need you on top again.

Re: New song honest review (66,841) (66,857) by Terna from Nigeria
I like the T-Pain moment. That's where the song seems to take off and brighten up just a little bit and I feel in the context of the film, it's where he soars and kinda gets his mojo back since from what I've read Kitty's there to help and guide Jamal.

Of course we all knew how mean and shady you all would be to her new song. Again, the Navy and Beehive would never. Only the lambs stab her in the back at every turn. Miserable.

Re: Infamous (66,833) (66,855) by B from USA
Despite liking Infamous it reinforces my belief that Mariah needs to work with new producers. She's hit a wall creatively and if she hopes to make another comeback she needs new blood. Working with Miguel and Happy Perez is why #Beautiful worked. It seamlessly updated Mariah's signature sound without sounding desperate or dated.

Infamous (66,854) by B from USA
After playing the song three times in a row my brother, who for the record isn't a fan, was singing along. I like it. The lyrics are obviously about Lucious and Cookie's infamous relationship. It fits within the storyline perfectly. The vintage R&B Hip-hop sound is also a direct result of the storyline. He's toxic and yet their love is epic and their constantly drawn back to each other.

Infamous (66,853) by Luke from United Kingdom
I definitely like Mariah's parts. Not so sure on Jussie's though. It feels like Mariah done the best with what she was given. It's not her show after all, so I guess the producers have the final say with how it sounds in the long run.
