This reek of Benny Medina. It makes Jennifer look good while shading Mariah. The public will believe this because of the I don't know her shade but it's not going to hurt Mariah's career or chances at a comeback.

Article: Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez together on stage? (65,835)

See MTV this is why you struggle to remain relevant. You're willing to do everything for these 2 superstars (who clearly would rather embarrass themselves in public than be in the same room together) fake a beef-squashing that won't benefit their careers more than they would save the plummeting ratings of your senseless awards show or once great channel that has somehow oscillated into one of the trashiest networks what with your countless "reality" shows, cheap shock tactics and your propensity for giving awards to questionable recepients. I miss the MTV I grew up watching, when it used to be the coolest thing on TV.

No I don't think it's cellulite. I think this is from her injury and she has some muscle atrophy. There was an instagram video where she was singing "Always be my baby passing by" and the public aisles and get a clearer view how her arm has these "irregularities".

Chaka totally slayed "Got To Be There". Her voice is truly an instrument. She is one who is fearless, she has sung Jazz, Gospel and soul/funk and all excellently. Chaka, smokes, drinks and has had a notorious drug problem and yet her voice is stratospheric, even today. Funny how that works. A great music biopic is the "Mikki Howard story" done by TVOne, it is a must see. So many great soul divas and divas in general, have come from humble if not tragic beginnings. Chaka was a mess in her youth and introduced drugs to Mikki back in the day. Chaka's own daughter portrayed her in the movie, the resemblance is uncanny. I hope CK's latest stint in rehab works. that stuff is tough even for the rich and famous to conquer, just look at Michael, Whitney and Prince.

One of my favorite remixes is this one, Clown (Superman Remix) feat. Eminem. Reportedly, the lyrics are about them each other. It sounds good.

I agree with you. It's very 70's soul / gospel, but her vocal delivery in verses are very jazz to me.

Toned body (65,830)

I'm loving her body now, it's now evident that working out is doing her well. Her arms are more toned and she's on great shape. But what's in her arms, is that cellulite? Look at this fan's comparison from 2013 and now, it's fantastic.

Yes this cover would sound so good. She could make this beautiful song to a Mariah ballad. I'm sure it would have hit potential. A lot of people a know (non-fans) don't like the up-tempo-rnb tracks but they do like her ballads. Her voice is just so perfect for slowly emotional songs.

There is nothing worse than a family member willing to sell you out to the tabloids. Ugh. Oprah's step sister sold her out, for thousands, now she has no relationship with Oprah who could have helped her with millions. People often get bitter of more famous siblings. I remember seeing the Dorothy Dandridge biopic starring Halle Berry and Dorothy's sister was so jealous and petty and angry towards Dorothy, it reminded me of A. 's relationship with M. It is sad to see. I bet A. regrets saying in that 1995 interview which is on you tube, that she would never take a red cent from M. again. Fast forward 20 years later.

Part of the mom thing is by nature of her mom's age and that she lives permanently on the east coast. Initially in Mariah's marriage to Nick we saw her more often at their family events, but for the last couple of years appearances have been less frequent partly because I believe she takes care of A.'s other two children that she had after the first two boys/now men. Also her mother had a reputation for not liking to be involved when Mariah is in the news, which she has been for the past year with separation/engagement and Stellar stuff. Her mom is also nearly 80 years old. They were last seen together publicly for her mom's 76th birthday going to see Phantom of the Opera in 2013.

B I don't think it's completely live, the part of "survive" and "hope is gone" are obviously lipped, well she always does. I don't want to be negative but that is just the truth. I can make a list of the verses that she always lipped if I want to because it's just too obvious to be unaware of. If I'm not mistaken, the only songs that she sings completely live in Vegas are Vision Of Love and Thank God I Found You.

Mariah would sound so good singing You Are Not Alone. I would really love to listen to her making an acoustic cover of it but knowing Mariah, I think she'd turn it into a piano ballad, keep the original arrangement, or make it into some form of R&B ballad. Either way I don't think she could go wrong covering this song.

"If its over" is not jazz, the chords are pure gospel, Baptist church from start to finish. Her delivery is also gospel. [...] All these songs have gospel overtones.

Re: Will Mariah extend her Vegas residency? (65,786) (65,822)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
As much as I didn't like the idea initially, over time I have become sold on the Vegas residency. It has proven to have boosted her relevance and quite a few big stars have been busting their behinds to make sure they get a chance to see her while she's out there. I like the fact that it provides Mariah and her kids with more stability too, even if only briefly. On one hand, I wouldn't mind if she stayed there and continued to do this for years to come. On the other hand, I want her to move on to something else mainly so I can fully see how great of a manager people claim Stella is. I've never cared enough about any of Mariah's managers to watch closely at how they perform, but none of them have developed a mini cult following of attack dogs either, so I just want to see her put her money where her mouth is to at least justify why some people are as devoted to her as they are to Mariah. The Vegas deal was already closed when she came on board and it's a big enough project to hide behind even if she's not that great. I want to see how she will handle different projects, particularly rolling out an album. Until Mariah comes out and officially brands herself as a legacy artist is comfortable constantly touring off of her old music, the true test of a great manager is how well they handle the roll out of a new album. (#1 To Infinity doesn't count because no matter how well you roll it out, no one is buying a damn greatest hits album in 2015/2016. That project was hopeless.) MC's boost in relevance can definitely blow smoke up the lambily's asses, but if it doesn't translate to album sales or #1 hits, who really gives a shit? I'm keeping my eye on the prize.

I was going to suggest "Butterflies" too. She loves that song. I think I would love it more if she covers "Gone Too Soon". Such a sad song and I really don't think there's a single singer on this world who can do justice to it other than Mariah. The lyrics would also make a perfect tribute to MJ.

MTV VMA - take a seat (65,820)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|
|
Good grief, MC hasn't been to the VMA's since 2005. You guys hardly recognized her videos even in the 90's. She has no reason to give you guys a hand now. If you're going to go around and diss her on top of it than don't expect any free hand outs. Of course, J. Lo said yes - she'll do anything for publicity. When you spend 4 years putting something together that also costs you a 100 million contract due to theft, do you really think you're going to give a damn what the excuses are for the thief stealing from you? Mariah doesn't bring up J. Lo and would be just as fine not speaking on the matter, she's not going to go out of her way to give J. Lo and the VMA's publicity. What would Mariah get out of it? She's got her own ish to deal with, a wedding coming up, still in the middle of touring, and filming a docu-series. Her plate is full.

Poor Alison Carey (65,818)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I'm pretty sure that from the beginning of Mariah's career one thing that Tommy must've done was to make sure Alison was not going to be a problem by offering her some sort of help as a pre-emptive measure. Loving your family doesn't necessarily mean that you have to support a behavior that is detrimental to yourself thus affecting the rest of the family. Alison has made a decision to be a prostitute and now she's facing the consequences of the actions. I love my family and would do anything for them. One thing I wouldn't do is just sit and witness someone I love kill himself/herself little by little when professional and emotional support has been provided for that person to get better. You want to kill yourself, I love you dearly, but I won't be part of it. It is sad, but Alison has made her bed and she's now lying pretty on it. It is sad, but it's the truth. Mariah could put a million dollar in her hand, and she would still go back to the streets, so I don't see the point in Mariah helping her so she could walk the streets in nice shoes, weaves, and make up.

There Goes My Heart is a lovely track with a cute storyline and its playful sound masks its slightly sad undertone. Maybe too much whispering for some but for me, it suits the summery, laid-back, beach-side vibe. Light summer jazz, if you will. It's one of Mariah's more unique songs in her catalog.

Butterflies is one of the few great songs on Michael's Invincible and is one of my top 10 MJ songs. The only artists who I know can do it justice are Janet and Mariah with their penchant for complex, dizzying harmonies. It would be perfect. Plus, although it was released as a single and was a top 15 hit, it isn't as popular as MJ's other blockbuster hits so that should take some pressure off Mariah if she covers it. Part of the reason why Mariah's take on On More Try was underwhelming was because it was well-loved and an effective as well as impressive exercise of restraint from George Michael to begin with that any attempt to recreate it would have been criticized as well, except maybe if it were Adele's as she clearly can do no wrong in the public eye these days. I think with Butterflies, it will not only be more suited to Mariah but also a bit easier for her. Please make it happen.
