Re: When is enough really enough? (64,213) (64,244)

I really agree with this. I don't know what's happened to Mariah. I remember she used to be so connected with her fans. I remember she used to leave voicemails on her website back in the day. Now it seems she has people tweeting pics of her just living large around the world. I'm glad she has Roc and Roe and I'm sure she's a good mom, but damn I feel like Nick Cannon had a large part in destroying her career. E=MC2 started off so strong, but once she met him, she fell off the face of Earth and basically abandoned that album. I think her whole relationship and marriage to Nick just really cheapened her image (because Nick's image was never great). What the hell happened to the music? Music seems so tertiary to her "career" these days.

Well said Natalia. People who are insecure can be easily manipulated. It's the same with playing a role. I remember an interview from 2001 where she says she's like a freaking clown. Best thing to hide insecureness with humor. But something is definitely strange since the last few months. I would be so happy to see an interview where she's just "normal". I mean without those festive moments and talks about music, projects or whatever. Mariah the real person, the musician is missed.

All lives are supposed to matter, but in all honesty we both know that's not true in America. All lives matter until they find out you're gay, your racial background, your immigration status, or that you practice any religion other than Christianity.

The statement "all lives matter" is not offensive in itself. The reason people get offended by it is because it is usually said as a rebuttal or clapback to silence the Black Lives Matter movement. All lives do matter, but there hasn't been an epidemic of all lives being taken from police officers, it has been black lives, which is exactly why the statement "Black Lives Matter" is relevant and "all lives matter" gets on people's nerves. It's relevant because right now black lives aren't being treated like they matter, which is why BLM's importance is to serve as a reminder that they do matter, not as a means of being elitist or exclusionary for fun. When the Paris bombing happened, no one said "all countries matter", but they respected the fact at that time Paris needed and deserved the attention. People should apply that same attitude to the killing of black human beings instead of trying to one-up them. I always say that unless you are dealing with a sociopath, assume that people already see "all lives matter" as a given and common sense, thus it doesn't even need to be said. As a black person on the other hand, I can't assume that people will value my humanity, so I will continue to remind them.

I just busted out laughing at your post. I love the awkward sofa and closet moments haha. All that was needed was a talking in the phone moment like in "Shake it off". Mariah mumbling and bobbing her head in a phone. "Infinity" is hands one of her most worst videos. She really needs to step it up.

He also directed Hate U, if I do recall. The song was pretty, but the video was weird, especially when Mariah went running accross the beach. Lol.

Politics and the opposite of love (64,234)
by Andrew from UK

There is no need to state Mariah is not a politician, nobody expects her to act like one. I'm about as interested in Mariah Carey's views on global warming as I am in the Prime Minister's views on music. The point in re: Orlando was that she had just been awarded for being vocal in support of homosexuals and when some of them were slaughtered in her home country even that didn't get her to make a connection. With racial issues, there may be cause to expect her to reach out, also, given that her mixed ethnicity is brought up during every interview and manicure she ever has. These are areas where it is probably natural to expect Mariah to engage with her fans or the wider public in some sort of way. I choose to think that *the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference*. Being moved to a negative emotion doesn't necessarily make you a "hater" or any other silly buzzword because it ignores the fact that you're still invested enough to care, you can be engaged with reasoned with or debated with. When you don't care either way, that's when all is lost. And therein lies the rub, now. Mariah comes across as completely indifferent to anything that doesn't involve how she looks. Indifference where there was once something tangible is depressing and awful.

That's something where credit is definitely due to Mariah and Nick. I think Roc and Roe are adorable and I love that they are being brought up as normal kids (well as normal as they can be with a superstar mom, a famous dad and multi million dollars in the bank). I mean they dress up like normal kids (unlike the poor North West, who is one of the cutest babies ever but is made to dress like a run way model and is being trained to be a fashionista, wearing uncomfortable clothes and what not), they are all shy and sweet when they get up on stage (unlike some of the sassier kids, who know their parents are big stars and so they take advantage of their privilege), they seem to be involved in normal kid activities and I admire how well Mariah and Nick co-parent. These kids are growing up so fast though, wasn't it just yesterday when Mariah had a huge Easter egg painted on her pregnant belly or when we first got a glimpse of little Roc and Roe in the Barbara Walters interview? I wish the babies all the health and happiness.

To be fair to Brett, the only videos he directed after TMB were "Obsessed" and "Infinity". "Obsessed" was cute and they did manage to have somewhat of a cute/funny story line. "Infinity" had good quality and Mariah looked great, what was lacking in the video was a story and logic haha. They could have played up the cameos and extended it instead of the uber awkward closet bopping and sofa moments. I thought the stage shots and the roof shots were nice. But yes, overall they could have done much better. However I will forever remain pissed at Brett for cheapening Mariah's brand by bringing in Stella into the equation. I don't care what people say, her image has never been this trashy and cheap.

Maxwell All Lives Matter (64,231)
by RibbonB from USA

So Maxwell has a new cd out this week. He also tweeted about Black Lives Matter in such a way that upset quite a few people. He said something about All Lives Matter, which led many people to think he missed the point especially in light of the Philando shooting in Minn. When getting political goes very wrong. Maxwell has since deleted his tweet and spent some time trying to clarify himself. Either way he got press during his cd release, but not all good. Yet another reason why M. can speak or not speak. Her platform, her risk.

Looking In (64,230)
by Natalia from Italy
| |
|
|
She is "vanishing away". It seems that she has lost her true self, somewhere along the way. Some seem to think that this is how she has always been, but I don't agree. She seems to be very easily manipulated, and if you look at the past eras, you can see the different influences changed certain things about her image. I almost get the feeling that she is being used and victimized, but I can't say why. I just pray and hope that she will continue to stay strong, and do what is best for her and her children in spite of all of this. Money isn't everything. What is most important is love, real love.

Mariah's face (64,229)
by Blackground from France
| |
|
|
[censored] How come her face looks bigger now than it did in January when she's been slimming down since then? You'd think her face would slim down too, but no. I used to think that her makeup and the weight was what made her look different since 2015, but the recent pics posted on Instagram got me questioning a lot. She wears very little makeup but still, it doesn't look like the usual Mariah. She doesn't need whatever she's done recently because she's such a natural beauty and she's aged gracefully. Maybe Stella influenced her on certain things, I'm just saying.

I have never been a fan of Brett and all of his Mariah videos since TMB have been trash. I find it unsettling that he claims Roman Polanski as one of his bff's and mentors though. Eww. On a positive I suppose, his ex girlfriend Serena Williams just won Wimbledon and her 22 grand slam title.

Both Stella and Mishka edit the pics. I have seen many pictures where Mishka edited herself down to a size zero even though she is a perfectly beautiful child. I can't and won't blame Mishka for what she does on her own insta, because that is her personal account but yes the edited Mariah pics come from both mama and baby Bulochnikov.

As much as I blamed Mishka for the mess, if Mariah thinks a 13 year old knows what's cool, then honestly I blame Mariah and not Mishka. The girl is 13 and if at 13, someone offered me the job to take over the social media account of an international superstar, I would jump at the chance even though I would not know shit. Mishka's stage mom probably coaxed her and Mishka obviously couldn't resist feeling the importance when some adults give them important jobs, so that I understand. She probably doesn't understand how important a social platform is for a public figure and for her it's just a place to post photos about a person's lifestyle. But what has happened to Mariah's thinking? How does she think a 13 year old inexperienced child can handle/ appropriately represent the social media of a 46 year old international superstar? It's ridiculous. I get a younger person can bring fresh insights, but not so young. Hire someone between the age of 20-25. I keep hearing "real lambs" say that Mariah is so rich, she is doing us a favor by continuing to release music because she can retire any time. All that money and yet she can't hire a professional to at least have a decent social network platform?

She looks beautiful in that pic. Gorgeous smile. Such a shame there is always something destroying her pics one way or another. By the way, are we certain that Mishka is the one editing her social media pics? It's hard to believe that this job will be put in the hands of a teenager. If so, she clearly has a very single-minded approach to what the public wants to see - sex, and sex only. Lately I've been thinking that Mariah needs to be coached while being photographed. It's always all about how beautiful she is, which is fine when it's extraordinary, but other times I am just left thinking there is no purpose or direction in any of her pics.

Mishka doesn't edit these pics. It's Stella herself and she's awful at it. Stella edits pics of herself as well. That's so unnecessary because right now Mariah is in good shape and dare I say she looks way better in real candids pictures than that edited mess that was posted. Now it has its own article on Daily Mail, good job girls.
