Re: Completely unrelated but (63,238) (63,243) by darrian liu from taiwan
I just noticed that Selena died from a gunshot wound as well. Now that the message board is talking about Selena, I wanted to discover her music as I haven't heard her songs before. Btw, have anyone noticed that this year, there were lots of deaths of famous figures, mainly music artists? Tbh this scares me and saddens me. We've lost so many icons, and it's just nearly halfway through 2016.

Re: Mariah on Snapchat (63,241) (63,242) by RibbonB from USA
Well, that's her "FAM" according to Suss One her DJ and the other is Bryan her new "creative director". It seems Anthony has now been fired. Looks like Stella did get the memo and she's now laying low. JP is just a prop IMO, or maybe the ring and necklaces are the props and JP is the dark shadowy figure as she described his role in her new reality show.

I am stunned. I'm mean is this ok with her boyfriend? She looks super waisted. Who are these people?

Very sad and insane. She was great on The Voice, changed so many arrangements and made them her own. Now murdered, just like someone we were just listening to and talking about this week, Selena.

Re: Mariah on IG/Snap Chat with Bryan and DJ Suss One (63,236) (63,237) by darrian liu from taiwan
Idk about those clips or her relationship with James but I don't think she's being serious about not liking to share the stage with other females. I mean, how about her 2008 concert with MJB, Bey, etc? Divas Live? Her duet with Olivia Newton-John? Whitney? I really don't think she was being serious.

Mariah on IG/Snap Chat with Bryan and DJ Suss One (63,236) by ADAM from USA
Has anyone seen the recent vids from last night posted on IG/Snapchat where MC is exhibiting THOT-like behavior? Theres 4 clips of Bryan and DJ drinking hard liquor while Mariah is posing awkwardly in the background with a tight slip dress pushing up her boobs up and is very tight all around. At the same time she blows air kisses to DJ Suss and sticks out her T&A towards the camera. All this from someone whose engaged and a mother of 2. Very interesting to say the least. I guess she would be ok if Nick Cannon did the same thing while they were married or James? Yeah right. She doesn't even like other females on the same stage as her. I get Mariah likes to have fun I would not be surprised the James Packer thing was just a cover up and her feelings were not invested into it. His status is what's keeping her attached. Does anyone else agree or disagree?

RIP Christina Grimmie. She was shot after she opened for a Before You Exit concert. For those who don't know her, she was an amazing singer who blew up on YouTube. Then she got into The Voice and became even bigger. She was such a talented girl.

Mariah Carey on people stealing her music (63,231) by 123 from USA
I like how she lit up when they finally asked her about music. Stop trying to corrupt her, she has no business in a buffet. Flavors is the best buffet anyway, Ceasar's buffet is overrated.

That's awesome Deedre. I didn't get to purchase my first Mariah album until the release of Daydream. I was 14/15 and a freshman in high school. Still my favorite album.

Deedre / Selena (63,229) by Edward from USA
Deedre, Selena's death left us all Latinos, specially those who were living in Latin America at that time, in a state of shock. She was working on her English album, so sad she couldn't finish it. I love "I Could Fall In Love" and "Dreaming of You", I regularly listen to those two songs. Her songs in Spanish [...] great too and the ballads are soulful. If Jennifer had an iota of Selena's voice, she would be a real singer. Selena was a humble, gracious, and beautiful soul. She could sing and dance, and had a body to kill for. It's so sad she was killed by this monster she trusted because she was stealing money from Selena's fan club and Selena confronted her. Had she survived, Jennifer Lopez wouldn't be the Jennifer Lopez we know today. Listening to Selena's "No Me Queda Mas", beautiful, soulful and well-sung song.

Deedre no problem. Most of us just love great music and don't mind talking about other artists who are just as great as MC. I discovered Selena by chance. They played the Techno Cumbia video and I fell in love with that song. Once I saw the movie and heard the soundtrack I was hooked. I love the live cumbia medley she did at the the astrodome in Houston (where I'm from). Although I only know a few songs she made a huge impact on me. You can't deny her talent. Can you suggest some other songs? I know Bidi Bidi Bum Ba, Amor Prohibido, La Cacarcha, Techno Cumbia, Baila Esta Cumbia, Dreaming Of You, and I Can Fall In Love. I probably didn't spell half of those songs correctly. Lol

Billy, B, Giovanni and One Sweet Day (63,227) by Randy from USA
I want to thank Billy and B for disagreeing with me respectfully. Respectful disagreements without belittling and banishing are hard to come by. Billy I am MC's biggest fan. In my circle, we all have divas. We all are part of Facebook groups. When fans of other divas start pulling YouTube clips, and we compare, it is over for MC and considering her career being from 1990-2016 so far, I find myself only being able to chose clips from 1990-1997, the Glitter era and Jimmy Fallon's impromptu that are not fraudulent. What comes across as me being disrespectful and critical, is sheer frustration at not having many receipts of her vocal ability outside of the studio. I also get angry with her for lipping because she never addressed why she can't sing her songs as she records them, or she hasn't toned down her belting to what she can do in the current stage of her voice live. As a school teacher, I will not be able to one day say, I have 27 years in the game and was good back in the day so I have nothing to prove and therefore I teach when I want to, not retire, and I'm still worth $500 million. Where is that fair? Which is why B, I think Patti's the best who has ever done it. She started recording in 1960. Watch her sing You Are My Friend at the Essence awards in 2000, 40 years into her career and it is mind boggling how artists such as MC, Christina Aguilera, Pink and Alicia Keys started having vocal problems a few albums into their careers. I do want MC to succeed but it's gonna take work, not excuses for her to retain her legacy as one of the best voices ever. I shut the [censored] up when she did that impromptu for the fans because it was amazing. So why was that an anomaly? While many on this board criticize her style of dress, her love life, eternally 12 and her interviews, I could care less. If she showed up to the White House correspondence dinner in a thong and pasties, I would not care as long as she burned the stage down without lipping. What matters to me is the voice and the quality of music. And let me address One Sweet Day and the newer generation. I teach 11th grade English and when I am about to say goodbye to the students each semester I play four videos. They don't know One Sweet Day, Bye Bye or Bone Thugs and Harmony's The Crossroads. But they know every single word to It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday. Who knows why some songs are classics. And Giovanni I love your list. In my opinion, the best voices of all time during their peak are: 1. Patti Labelle 1960-2004 2. Whitney Houston 1985-2000 3. Mariah Carey 1990-1997 4. Christina Aguilera 1998-2002 5. Jennifer Hudson (still sickening) 6. Aretha Franklin 1960-1998 7. Celine Dion (still sickening but now ridiculously safe) 8. Deborah Cox (still sickening but doesn't have a job) 9. Fantasia 2004-2010 10. Beyonce (still sickening but ridiculously safe)

Re: James Corden (63,219) (63,226) by Andrew from UK
So she won't sing live because if she's good she'll be criticised and if she's bad she'll be criticised. So retirement? What a load of nonsense. Those who proclaim fairies to be living in the garden must at least entertain the idea that they don't.

Bloody hell (63,225) by Andrew from UK
"Bloody hell, you agree with me?" I have argued many things over the last couple of years (and taken some slack for it whilst others often repeat the points I raise, I might add). I am sometimes throwing Mariah a lifeline and sometimes I am "throwing her under a bus", so to speak, if that's translatable to non-British English. Little idiomatic. But my message has been clear, I think, and, I hope. If she can really do it, really pull it off, then do it. Pull it off. What I witnessed at the O2 in London was a resurgence of confidence. Yes, it was buttered with lip-sync. I proclaimed it great because it wasn't the crap lip-sync of olde. And I pissed my pants (another idiom?) because I'm a Mariah fan. I saw a powerful performer. I like the Emotions intro, it needs to be aired on television. It's not just the power or the melisma, it's the sound of her voice that captivates. It's purity hen it's honest. Whitney had a masculine belt, Celine a feminine French awkwardness (although spectacular), Mariah a soothing universal tone. I won't say that a concert can be had whereby Mariah's voice can stress out every note without lip sync. But those moments where she can do it need to be aired on live television. It would remind everybody that the (older) vocalist still has the sound and the tone and the power, albeit occasional. She needs to do it and man up and accept if it [censored] up it [censored] up. But we are waiting to hear it. Were I her manager I would gear her up for this. This, above all else, will state, for the record, a legacy. Shock. And then awe. Everything else is just a waste of material.

Patti Labelle (63,223) by Giovanni from USA
In my opinion is the greatest female singer and vocalist of all time. She's definitely the best I have ever heard. She hit notes not even Whitney could hit and did things with her voice no other singer could do. Her power, belting, range and ability to sustain notes by far outshines any singer in history. Her voice could literally raise the dead. Just watch her "You'll never walk alone" performance at the Apollo. Also, vocal gymnastics is something not every singer has. A perfect song that showcases Patti as a great singer is "Teach me tonight" (Me gusta tu baile). Who else could sing like that or give those type of vocals. No one. Unfortunately, Patti did not have the blockbuster success other singers like Diana, Whitney, Celine or Mariah had. Which is something fans like me have to live with. However she made a name for herself as a singer and an icon. So in a way that's good enough I suppose. For me after Patti is Mariah, Whitney, Celine, Diana and Dionne.

VOL at an award show (63,221) by radhames from Curacao
All MC needs to do is sing Vision Of Love the way she's singing it in Las Vegas. The confidence, the gown and the voice. It would be nice if she could open the award show, and do a high note in the beginning (Fantasy style) and do those amazing runs towards the end. Like just a reminder that she is and will always be Mariah Carey, the singer. It's such a great time to be a lamb.

Re: Mariah's passion (63,142) (63,220) by B from USA
I disagree. I think her confidence was the issue not her passion or conviction. MIAM has several impassioned songs. Cry and Camouflage are two of her most passionate and inspired vocals in years. However, I felt similarly when listening to MOAIA. I feel that album is uninspired. I think despite the delays the album was rushed because everyone knew Obsessed was a hit. Languishing is the only impassioned song on that album and it's an interlude.

Re: James Corden (63,188) (63,219) by B from USA
Randy, I disagree. Carpool Karokee is a skit, it's supposed to be fun. If she had sang they would say she was showing off or complain that her voice doesn't sound like it used to. I love Patti but she isn't the greatest singer ever. She's one of the greatest but isn't the greatest. I hope someday Mariah can give a live performance that is up to your expectations/standards.
