When you feel the need, please don't (61,886) by Edward from USA
It's very annoying reading some posts from people who enjoy telling other fans what to post, how to think, what to focus on, it is arrogance at its maximum. As if their post were going to chase anybody away or prevent them from posting what they think. It's been the same for almost 20 years on MCArchives. The beauty of the this board is the fact that there's a wide range of opinions, and that's what makes it interesting. I might not like some opinions here and there, but I appreciate the variety nonetheless. I personally think that when it comes to Mariah, good music just won't do, especially if it is at good as "Infinity" and its respective "Mess-mix". Let's not pretend that Mariah is just like the rest of us because she isn't, she's a celebrity, and when she signed up for fame, she knew what she was getting herself into. People do not respect Mariah because she's drowned her artistry and great catalog in this diva persona that most people hate, and that I can't even defend anymore. Now it is about her weave, boobs, makeup and whatever dress/shoes she's wearing at the moment. Months before TEOM was released, Mariah was being likable again and humble again, and people loved her back to #1. Def Jam worked on building that likable image again, but now she's perceived as arrogant even she might not be that way. Mariah was this artist who would put out her music and then disappeared, then come back again and it was refreshing. Her Butterfly-sexy is way different to the sexy she desperately pushes for on everything she does nowadays.

Re: Mariah Carey gives the world's most awkward lap (61,883) (61,885) by Licia from USA
Just because I'm a fan that doesn't mean I have to support or agree with everything she does. Like everyone else has said she keeps saying she wants respect, but she's doing things that are causing people to not respect her. I've been a fan since the beginning. I know what this woman is capable of. She's better than what she's doing. If you agree with what she's doing then continue to do so, but we shouldn't have to accept things we don't like just because we're fans. The funny thing is most of the critical posts are coming from people who I know have always defended Mariah whether she was wrong or right in this forum. There has to be something wrong if those people are finally speaking up against what's she's doing.

Re: A new #1 (61,881) (61,884) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
Focus on the music, which is always good and different. If people want a number one then they should go out and buy it, instead of complaining about the woaman's hair. I mean if crap like Work gets to number one how did something like You're Mine didn't ? Easy. People dont care about quality of the music, especially the ones that buy music. This is not Mariah's fault, it's a stigma for female singers with 40 plus years. People should celebrate Mariah's music, not trash it like her fans have been doing.

Re: Mariah Carey gives the world's most awkward lap (61,875) (61,883) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
Actually Mariah said she would give up her hits but she also said she would never give up being her to be what people expect of her. She would never make inferior music to be famous or to win awards. She did that and she was miserable. I'm surprised that's what her fans want these days. How low can you go?

Re: King and Queen Lambassador (61,876) (61,882) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
Your opinion makes us look like jerks around the world. This type of negativity is making us look like we're more interested in number ones than in her hapiness or her artistic freedom. Criticism is good but too much can be disruptive and boring and as harmful as bashing. This is not what fans do.

Now if only everyone could just focus on this instead of negativity. Celebrate the achievements. Celebrate her music. Celebrate Mariah. We're all here for the music.

A new #1 (61,879) by Tijl from Belgium
In regard to the current mayhem on this page I would like to write a few words.
- Mariah has 18 #1 hit songs. She also released many other hit songs that did not make into the pole position.
- Mariah has won 252 awards the world over. These celebrated her voice, her artistic vision and her songwriting skills.
- Mariah has inspired most of todays female artists such as Beyonce, Rihanna, etc. to follow a career in music.
- Mariah is respected as an artist by musicians who aknowledge the effort and amount of passion she puts into her songs.
- Mariah has overcome many challenges and difficulties in her life, as a professional and as a human being.
- Mariah keeps on inspiring girls, boys, women and men of any social class, race or sexual orientation all over the world to keep believing not matter what.
New #1 or not she is #1.

Mimi L. said it right. We are saying these things not for us but for the sake of Mariah. Yes, it's negative but seriously come on, it is true. I'm just saying those things because I know she wants respect, she wants to be credited and all that. But if she doesn't care about all of this, I'm not gonna bother posting my opinion about her image. Just try to read comments online and how the media write articles about her, you will see what we are talking about.

King and Queen Lambassador (61,876) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
How fascinating, we have both the King and Queen in the house. Interesting. Anyway. It's my opinion, and I've no interest in whether you or anybody else believes or considers me a fan. As somebody who has paid heavily into the Carey brand, I'm more than allowed to voice my opinion. I'm not telling anybody what to do, and ultimately it's not my career or legacy, so at the end of the day I won't lose sleep. I just care enough to say - it doesn't have to continue being the circus side show it's become. Also pretty much everybody has said they aren't concerned with Mariah hitting number one or not. I don't know where that came from. If you think this is the way forward and it's all wonderful, great, I respect your feelings. Enjoy your Friday, as I'll enjoy mine, and raise my glass to you all.

Sure and you don't need to tell me what I should or should not feel. Mariah herself has allegedly said she would give up her hits to earn the respect that people give to Mary J Blige. She also always complains about how people don't give her enough credit as a songwriter because they only see her as an over the top diva. In other words she wants the respect. I didn't say she should want respect, I said "if she wants respects". Next time read well before you write.

Re: Mariah Carey gives the world's most awkward lap (61,872) (61,874) by King Lambassador from USA
Since when does Mariah need to earn respect? Her legacy is untouchable. She doesn't need to earn respect from anyone. If you don't respect her, that's on you, not on her.

Re: Mariah Carey gives the world's most awkward lap (61,872) (61,873) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
Mimi L. you think Mariah needs to demand respect from who? The lapdance was weird yes and she even commented on it once it was finished but that doesn't mean she deserves less respect because of an awkward lapdance. She is a diva and she acts accordingly without being rude or desrespectful towards anyone. Her image isn't bad, it's just people wanting her to be different from who she is that makes it look bad.

Re: Mariah Carey gives the world's most awkward lap (61,857) (61,872) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
No one is saying anything about what she wore or her confidence. I, for one think she looks great in the bodysuits and her body is in great shape, but I'm sorry we must be watching different videos if that lap dance was "sexy". It was unnecessary, awkward and clumsy. She is not the best dancer, she doesn't need to be. She has the voice, she however also doesn't also need to give random lap dances and tell her dancers to rub up against her from both sides and then ask them to get her boobs in the shot. You can either do that and or you can demand respect. If Mariah wants respect, this isn't the way to go. Day by day she is becoming more of a Kardashian, known more for her diva antics and over the top lifestyle than a legend, a songbird supreme. She is doing it to her own image. I won't blame her entourage because well, we all agree Mariah is smart enough so she should know better.

I actually have a great grunge about Bey because she is overrated, overproduced, without music input and has too much credit for things she doesnt do. Bey is that bad and people think she is that great for boring music.

Re: Social media presence (61,850) (61,868) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
Mariah has a more enjoyable media presence: she can laugh and be serious without sounding like an erudite. I wonder what do people want Mariah to be. You "lambs" would probably be happy if Mariah was married to Tommy M, being controlled at every step. How is that fair? Let Mariah be Mariah and not another person just to please you.

Re: Mariah's image (61,854) (61,867) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
Why is her image making you cringe and everyone else? Mariah never really embarassed us in 26 years of career. Mariah, except one or two occasions, never appeared drunk in public breaking public property. Mariah doesnt do drugs, Mariah doesnt have any news on tax evasion or fraud, Mariah never appeared naked in public, altough she uses short dresses. Because she is 46 doesn't mean she has to dress like a nun or act like one. She has a unique sense of humour, she behaves in interviews and never insults anyone. I still don't see Mariah having a bad image at all. She is confident about her body and she should because she has a killer body so she should flaunt it, unlike some girls half her age who got nothing to show so they show everything hoping someone likes something. I wonder what type of fans does Mariah have because I'm sorry, you aint one of them.

Re: A vicious cycle (61,866) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
it's hard tocome to so called fan pages and see so much negativity. Mariah finds that in the media, with her haters or with those who don't have a clue who she is. I wonder what makes people that call themselves fans to act like that. Mariah has nothing to prove. You guys are demanding another number 1 song asap when she doesn't seem to be worried about that. Them others can do whatever that Mariah, without anymore number ones did and does alot more and alot better. I wonder when will this criticism will end.

I wasn't gonna even bother but... (61,864) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
I'm confused as to why everyone is acting so brand new on here. So let me get this straight. Mariah has a drink and sways in the club with a few backup dancers, while showing cleavage and now she the most despicable horrific none respect deserving bimbo on the planet? Oh please give me a freaking break. If anything many people can relate to "feeling hottamale" and having fun celebrating with friends. It's not like she's out every night partying in the clubs or (dare I say) always dressed like that anymore. Yes the lap dance was awkward, I mean even Mariah was like "okaaay that was a mess" but I'm sure it was done lightheartedly, impromptu and playfully. Why you mad? You all come on here and make a huge deal out of every little thing she does. If she shows cleavage she's "cheap and classless", if she wears a long modest ensemble she's "over dressed and unrelatable", if she's serious in interview she's "boring and robotic (Steve Harvey)", if she playful and fun in interviews (ET) she 's "annoying and never gives straight answers". I'm glad Mariah ignores the haters and just enjoys life because people will never be pleased and will always find something to complain about. That's what cynical pessimistic people do, sit back and always find something wrong, because they're not happy with themselves. If Beyonce can be acclaimed for singing/using vulgar lyrics and creating a creepy satanic looking video movie, if Madonna can show up at the Met Gala with duck tape on her boobs and her butt out at 50 something, if the beloved JLo can twerk half naked on people in her video named "Booty" and not have her age and the amount of kids she has thrown in her face then nobody should lift a foot to come for Mariah. Unlike their fanbases that promotes them and have their backs, Mariah's fan base drags her more than the public. And speaking of throwing things in people's face, I really wish you all would stop trying to throw the "wanting respect" thing in Mariah's face. For one: she said it like 20 years ago when she was "little Miss Perfect Mariah" that everyone yearns for today which would mean (by that logic) she had every right to want (and have) exactly that "the respect of the industry". I'm certain today's Mariah could care less if people like her or not, and I don't blame her. Haters are gonna hate, lovers are gonna love. Mariah will always be regarded as one of the best voices ever and the only thing she needs to boost her career (in my opinion) is maintain and continue to improve her voice, put out great music videos with storylines (like TEOM), airplay on the radio, and a great team behind her promoting her, and I believe she can reclaim success. She's not as bad as you all are making her out to be, knock it off. Lighten up, go get a drink and dance somewhere with your friends tonight.

Re: M image (61,863) by Nikki from usa
Not even close. Mariah's social media pages are filled with J.Lo, Eminem, and Minaj fans. Especially, her instagram. That's not the "public". I don't have any respect for people who partake in hypocrisy. She's not your next door neighbor, she's a celebrity and part of that is putting on a show. You'd have a shorter list if you named all the female celebrities that haven't tried some form of lap dance. That's not MC's first attempt either, she had a similar routine for Fantasy where she bitch-slaps a guy after. Mariah keeps herself relatively private, so the media makes up its own stories. She doesn't even have to be around for it. Public perceptions of Mariah changes with the tide since there's very little real information about her. Even with publications like Gossip Cop pointing out the BS the BS remains and continues to circulate. MC's success and popularity have never been about her clothing style, it about her voice. The "public" has never been a fan of her clothes whether they're sexy or she looks like a pastor's wife. That is nothing more than something to complain about. The only thing the public ever cares about when it comes to Mariah is the status of her voice and her music. It's amazing how a hit song changes the tides every time.

Re: A vicious cycle (61,852) (61,862) by King Lambassador from USA
Mariah is Mariah. Why are her "fans" so obsessed with her having another hit? She has more than proven herself and she owes no one anything. You're saying she should act a certain way and do a certain thing so the general public can like her? If you truly think that, you are no better than her first husband.

Re: Mariah's image (61,854) (61,861) by King Lambassador from USA
Mariah is [...] for being happy? For being confident with her body? Are you [censored] kidding me? That is a pathetic response. Just the fact that you would even insinuate that disgusts me. You are the worst kind of fan, wanting Mariah to do this and do that as if she is some type of trained show dog. She is a human being and free to so what she likes. So she sat on her dancer's lap on stage for all of 10 seconds? She had fun and that's what matters. We should be supportive of that, not finding ways to bring our idol down.

Re: A vicious cycle (61,855) (61,860) by King Lambassador from USA
You can be concerned without spewing negativity and hatred. You do nothing to help support Mariah but instead try to tear her down and then say you are the for her. Are you kidding me? Mariah is obviously very happy with her life right now and her body and we should be nothing but supportive of her. It's not our job to control her life and tell her what she can and can't do, it's our job as fans to support her and stand behind her. If you do nothing but bash what she does, you are no better than her haters.
