Re: Superstar (58,735) (58,754) by B from USA
Mariah doesn't have to work with Calvin. She could work with an unknown up and coming producer. She needs a song that isn't playing like Your Girl.

A possible new #1 for AIWFCIY (58,753) by Blue Riding Hood from Outside
With streaming growing, there is a possiblity that AIWFCIY might hit #1 eventually. Had her label discounted the track, a top 10 entry was certain.

Re: What does Adele's success mean for Mariah? (58,747) (58,752) by B from USA
I think she'll do both. She'll record ballads and R&B Hip-hop songs 50/50. I just want well written lyrics and impassioned vocals with amazing videos and a killer promo plan.

Re: AIWFCIY at #4 on Swedish singles chart (58,745) (58,751) by Blue Riding Hood from Outside
I hope this doesn't sound a bit rude, but I think it were the Dutch charts and not Swedish charts. The Swedish singles chart shows it at #15 this week. If you feel that I might be wrong, don't hesitate t correct me.

Song of the decade (58,750) by Blue Riding Hood from Outside
I know I might be called delusional, but I have this sweet feeling in the bottom of my stomach ( ) that Mariah will have another Song of the Decade. The candidates for this decade's top song are tragic and don't deserve the title at all. If One Sweet Day and We belong Together were to be succeeded by such an unworthy song, I would be very disappointed.

Wasn't Meteorite produced by Q-Tip and tweaked JD?

What does Adele's success mean for Mariah? (58,747) by Randy from USA
Now that Adele has managed to sell 7 million copies of her album in the US in just over 2 months which is unprecedented, what does that mean for the industry and for MC in particular? Now a lot of you would say "MC doesn't chase trends" but looking at some of her collaborators and new producer choices over the years you can prove that sometimes she jumps on what's hot. It's interesting that they are both under the Sony umbrella album, so do you think MC will be done with uptempos next album? Will hip hop and R&B take a backseat for songs more like Without You, My All, I Only Wanted, Languishing, Right To Dream, Cry, Camouflage etc? Do you think Adele's success won't matter and Sony executives won't care and let MC do whatever she wants?

AIWFCIY at #4 on Swedish singles chart (58,745) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Basically matching it's highest position from 2013 with zero direct promotion. These things make a lamb happy. AIWFCIY is so big now that established artists, random celebrities and regular people promote it all on their own. It's everybody's song now. Mariah can go ahead and push Oh Santa now instead. And it's not a big deal that she didn't crack the top 10 on BB's Hot 100, yet. It's not like Christmas isn't an annual occurance (much like her Beacon shows) or anything. I predict All I Want For Christmas (Is You) will end up at #1 on many international singles charts whenever her Christmas themed feature film hits theatres. Actually, I think it might be Oh Santa's time to shine. Knowing Mariah, she's writing a festive new song to make it a triptych. I don't know, but I could be right. My 2ยข.

Re: AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot (58,741) (58,743) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
You know you are a legend if you:
a) Are the latest current artist to wrote the last Christmas classic.
b) Revisit the charts every year thanks to that.
c) Do minimal promotion yet have such song peak at a spot shy of the top 10 twenty-one years after its original (unofficial) release.
d) Make this happen (plays MIH) at an era where ageism is most definitely a thing.
e) Have numerous massive achievements aside from this.
f) Are (only) 45 years old.
Boom. Happy New Year lambs.

Re: AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot 100 (58,738) (58,742) by 123 from USA
This is awesome. Would have loved top ten but I'll take it. We must not complain about what she could have done to get a higher position. She did a good job promoting it with good performances and plenty of new projects attached to it. You never know what she might have in store for it next year. Hopefully, this will give her some confidence to create more great quality songs as there is still an interest in her music.

AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot (58,741) by Edward from USA
Mariah Carey and her team have been paying attention, and it is showing. 2015 was mostly positive for her, and I'm very happy about that. This new position on Billboard Hot 100 is not mere casualty, it is the definitely result of all the work they've put in rebuilding her image. One thing I do admire about Mariah is the fact that, instead of dressing dem babies are if they were circus puddles, she dresses them as any other mother would dress their kids, not as if they were small versions of their parents, something that is very relateable. Her Christmas shows were successful, she is more confident on stage, her voice has improved. When she lip-syncs those difficult parts, she's doing it very convincingly without turning or covering her face. She's doing her homework. Mariah once said that after a tour her voice is in great shape. She's making sure her voice is in good condition for her to complete whatever project she's working on, hopefully an album.

#11 on the BB Hot 100 (58,740) by darrian liu from taiwan
That's an awesome feat you all. AIWFCIY is actually Mariah's highest charting single since Obsessed and whether or not it cracks the top 10 next week, I'm extremely proud of MC. Plus, a 21 year old song that still charts that high? (all caps)

Yes, that's what happens when the artist does not perform live the full song, only at indoor events.

Re: EDMariah (58,722) (58,736) by Sarah from Netherlands
Well, Calvin Harris-type EDM already died anyway. And it's not the same as the dance mixes she's done in the past. That's like calling Motown soul and neo-soul the same thing. We'll see if it's true. I just hope she stays true to herself. Her biggest comeback hits were those tracks in which she did what she did best. If it's another Meteorite type track, great. But that was a Stevie J track. Who's very very different from Calvin Harris.

Re: Superstar (58,728) (58,735) by B from USA
I've suggested multiple times that she should work with Calvin. I would love a song like Meteorite with Mariah singing like it's 1991. Like when she said she woke David Cole up when recording Make It Happen. He really did bring out her best vocal performances. She looks like a gold goddess in that hot tub. She's ready to reclaim her throne.

Wow this is amazingly incredible. If this was its chart position last week, I'm sure the lambs would have gone crazy to make that final push. And team Mariah could have even joined in on the fun, like a surprise performance on GMA or something. Awesome.

AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot 100 (58,733) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
I have paid attention to shopping trends the past few years. I have made statements on this site that Mariah Carey is still potent on the Billboard charts and some thought I was crazy. This is Mariah Carey's 4th top 15 hit in the USA since 2008 (Obsessed, #Beautiful, and Touch My Body are the others) and she has 4 top 5 albums since 2008 too. I noted several posts of how AIWFCIY was making extreme gains before the last week in November compared to last few years and most were still stuck on 2014. Mariah Carey, although busy, was way less busy promoting in the public eye compared to last year and did much better on the Billboard charts than last year. After the unfortunate performance last year, some fans on this board questioned and ridiculed other fans for being blindsided and said we were not helping her career by being in "denial". As always I am happy to say that I was right once again. AIWFCIY sold over 200,000 copies in the USA this year and Merry Christmas sold over 70,000 copies in the USA. This proves Mariah is still very relevant regardless of what time of the year it is. She lost the weight and let her name do the talking. To those mediocre fans that do-nothing but criticize, [censored] and [...].

Re: AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot 100 (58,729) (58,732) by B from USA
I wish it had cracked the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10. However, #11 ain't bad for a song that was released in 1994, twenty one years ago. I think AIWFCIY is Mariah's signature song. I think the positive press from her Las Vegas residency and her annual Beacon concerts added to the momentum but the song is a timeless classic that is engrained in our culture. It isn't Christmas until you hear those sleigh bells and Mariah angelic vocals.

AIWFCIY No. 11 (58,730) by David F from Mexico
Guys I am actually crying because Billboad says the song could not enter the top ten. Maybe my family downloads were needed, but we spent the holidays this time in Mexico. She had the chance if she had her team do more. Those rich men are also helpless. Maybe next year.

AIWFCIY #11 on Billboard Hot 100 (58,729) by enwar00 from usa
This pisses me off. It was so close to being Top 10. If the chart week went though Christmas, no doubt it would have been Top 10. Still an amazing fest, considering it is a 21 years old. Seems like it was extremely strong this Christmas for some reason.

Something Different (58,727) by Ardis Logic from Earth
I agree with Andrew, that something different is needed here. I think along the lines of "Meteorite" whatever was happening the night she made that song, it was magic.
