Re: Work (59,840) (59,841) by B from USA
I don't see Work peaking higher than its current peak. The song sucks. If she does break or tie Mariah's record it doesn't diminish her accomplishments or legacy. It would suck if an [censored] breaks or ties her record. Imagine the reaction of the Elvis fans will have if she ties his record after the uproar they caused when Mariah did.

Work (59,840) by George Golden from UK
I am not loving this. I don't want Rihanna to surpass Mariah because the way she is going she just might and that would be a travesty. Mariah better wake up and come up with a killer album. I don't understand this mess. Anything Rihanna releases goes to number one. Really.

Re: Grammys (59,829) (59,839) by Tevin from USA
Why do they award the best new artist to someone how has been out for a few years. I thought that it was supposed to go to someone who has only been out for a year or two. Am I right, how does that all work?

Rihanna vs Mariah (59,838) by David F from Mexico
Of course a [censored] being the new queen, what a shame for the American culture. She already surpassed Madonna, Janet, Michael. Who cares? I rather Beyonce, but somehow [...] wants Mariah's title, turning his back on her. What can we expect from their miserable ambition? Tidal anybody?

And she hasn't dropped the video yet. You better stay woke Mariah. She's coming for you and at you, 18 #1's who? Lol.

Oh Bill, you took me way back and painted a perfect picture of those early days (drifting to another place and time). And yes (all caps) the ATYNAF hair (exclamation). What a time it was. Thanks for that. Cheers.

I was also "shocked" by the picture they used on AYNAF. I loved to go to the record store and just buy the latest single (I have a huge collection), and run home to listen to the remixes. What a time. MTV was so much fun, they actually played music at that time.

I was 13 and going through puberty, so yes in a way Mariah was this sexy phoenix of a fire goddess. She still is my queen of the sun. I grew younger with her music and older with the current music all at the same time. I drooled everytime she performed and I was literally possessed. I am the opposite of a demotic possessive creature locking its head to my whole body. I am a fairy god looking for the ultimate goddess to love and drool over. It's safe to say the lambs of my land shall remain free.

Re: Never forget you (59,828) (59,831) by B from USA
I agree. Mariah needs to write more timeless ballads like Never Forget You and Just To Hold You Once Again. Adele has proven that well written ballads can succeed. MIAM was Mariah's best album since TEOM/E=MC2 but the wrong singles were chosen. #Beautiful, Meteorite, Dedicated, and Make It Look Good should have been the singles. I adore You're Mine (Eternal) but the video and the WBT comparisons killed its chances at crossover success. Mariah needs classy videos like Someone Like You and Hello by Adele. She needs to hire an edgy stylist like Eric Daman or Rachel Zoe for the next era. I want another epic era.

Re: Grammys (59,826) (59,829) by B from USA
Meghan Trainor being awarded as the best new artist is a travesty. She's a talented pop songwriter but Tori Kelly deserved the best new artist award. She's not only a talented songwriter, she's a talented vocalist. Taylor winning Album of the Year for 1989 was expected because it was the best album of the year.

Never forget you (59,828) by Giovanni from USA
Is such a beautiful song. It's one of my favorite Mariah songs that I play all the time. She needs more songs like this for the next album. I would be happy with at least one or two ballad type songs. As well as her collaborating with an older music artist like Stevie Wonder or Michael Bolton. I'm also hoping for John Legend.

Grammys (59,826) by Billy from Greece
Just catching a glimpse of the attendees at the Grammys this year (and the last 10 years or so) I thought I was watching a cheap gossip show, just full of people who are celebrities, known for who dissed who, instead of musicians. Go back 20, 30, 40 years ago and you'll get a real reality check. Also, what's with the ages of the nominees and winners? Are people over 30 prohibited from getting a Grammy? The industry has always been youth-centered, we get it, but this was like a highschool reunion or something. Will the business ever fix this bullshit they're creating? And the Meghan girl winning best new artist? Really?

Re: Ten years ago (59,822) (59,825) by Bill from the UK
Haha. I was born in the early 80s and became aware of her during the Music Box era when Dreamlover was released. Fell in love when I first saw her running around that field and haven't looked back since. It was great riding the crest of the wave of her popularity. When Fantasy was released it was incredible. It's sad that a generation miss out on saving money to buy her singles, walking into the record store and seeing the single cover and it being completely against your expectations (I had a mini freak out when I saw her straightened hair on AYNAF haha), collecting the records she put out in other countries, having MTV on all weekend and requesting her videos. All so accessible nowadays, but so great that she scoops up new fans with every era. Little do they know the treasure trove of past masterpieces that awaits them.

Great testimonial but I don't think the Grammy's allows lipsyncing. You've gotten to know MC's music at a time when it's pretty tough to remain as hardcore as I think and hope we all are here on this forum. I am the opposite as Vision Of Love stopped me in my tracks back in 1990 when I heard it on the radio.

Wow. I am happy you remained a lamb since the beginning. I wish I was born and old enough during her debut. I wasn't even born yet. I am jealous of older lambs of the land.

I have some vague memories about being a young fan. Life was just so easy and without any thoughts of politics and economics. I was 13 at the time she released "Vision of love" and now I'm almost 40. Time goes by.

Re: In Rainbow's defense (59,776) (59,820) by ADAM from USA
I really agree with all your points about Rainbow. I love the original Heartbreaker version over the remix - the bouncy Tom Tom club sample and Jay'Z's verse with Mariah harmonizing in the background and of course her layered high notes at the close of the song always do it for me. Other gems include Crybaby (which perfectly infuses her playful wordplay and vivid story-telling and her ad-libs with her scratchy voice which gives this track a great texture as if she's up late and can't sleep) and Bliss (dreamy lush vocals and high notes really display what an amazing gift she has) and Against All Odds (great power ballad). However for these few gems, I hated the fact she tried to obviously clone previous hits from her own catalog and other radio hits - My All/After Tonight, Hero/CTTA and No Scrubs/X-Girlfriend. I also hated Did I Do That and TGIFY for their lazy compositions and lyrics. I get that this album was rushed and there was chaos internally at Sony however I can't help but feel that if she held onto the great tracks here and really sprinkled her Mariah magic onto this record again what would have transpired. Overall, this record was the beginning of Mariah creating sub-par work and where I started to feel disappointed in the material she started to create. This is one album I never play from start to finish.

Re: Like a Wendy interview (59,816) (59,817) by Lee TS from USA
I think that's why I have a soft spot for Wendy and still hold out hope that Mariah will grace her show someday. Those Wendy interviews are too much fun and was so festive in their nasty nice banter. I hope the 2003 one is still out there somewhere. Mariah gave Wendy her over the top divaness with the Tiffany's glasses and fun one liners. Remember lambs, stars don't squint their eyes in the sun.

Like a Wendy interview (59,816) by Matt from Australia
Hi everyone, hoping somebody can help a fellow lamb out. A few years ago I came across an epic 2 hour+ radio interview between MC and Wendy Williams on YouTube. It was so good. She was promoting Charmbracelet so it must have been from 2002-ish. Anyway I would love to listen again but I cannot find it anywhere. Does anybody here have the clip by any chance or know where I can find it? A long shot perhaps but please let me know if you can help.

58th Grammys (59,815) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
This year had the most mainstream winners in the major categories since 2011. It was meh. I wasn't surprised about Tay's win. 1989 is a good album and the Grammys love them some Taylor. Next year, Adele will probably get Album of the Year for 25 and Record of the Year for Hello. Anyways, is it just me or is this show getting more and more of a snoozefest every year? I also hate how LL keeps using the phrase "Grammy moment" like every chance he gets, as if that term should be taken lightly and thrown around that easily. That should only be reserved for moments like Mariah's debut performance, Mary J's No More Drama, P.nk contorting in the air... those kind of stuff. Only good performances last night were the Bowie tribute, Kendrick Lamar, and Demi's solo of Hello by Lionel Richie. The others were either forgettable to horrendous. You know there's something wrong when you find yourself enjoying Gwen Stefani lipsynching to the filming of a live music video during a commercial break than all of the other numbers. And who the hell thought Pitbull would make a good finale? Rant over.
