Michael Bolton/Mariah - We're Not Making Love (58,650)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
I can't believe that lamb who posted the YouTube video has a clip of the infamous and never heard before live performance of "We're Not Making Love Anymore". Who is he? How do he have it? Why can't he leak it. It's been my dream to hear it since the beginning of time. Even just hearing the clip made me shake and feel a bit teary (for those who haven't watched, it's around the 23 minute mark of the video). Does anybody have any info on this?

The legit year our queen born (58,649)
by Malcolm from Asia
| |
|
|
I just want to ask when is the real birthday of Mariah Carey? Because in Wikipedia they are not sure whether it's in 1969 or 1970. Thank you. [Webmaster: According to People magazine, Mariah was actually born in 1969. In response to fan inquiries about the correct date, a spokesperson of the magazine issued a statement, "We have a copy of Ms. Carey's driver's license, which lists her birthday as March 27, 1969. Furthermore, we spoke with the administrators at the high school she attended who confirmed that Ms. Carey's birthday is March 27, 1969, as did her management when we made our initial interview." A reason why the executives could have changed her birthyear was to make Mariah look younger. After all, when you say someone is born in the 1960's, her or she looks much older than someone who was born in the 1970's. Even if there is only a year difference. A more far fetched idea for Mariah "lying" about her birthyear could be her name. She says she was named Mariah after the song "They call the wind Mariah". If Mariah was born in 1969, then this obviously wasn't the case. Maybe her real name is Maria or Mary and the executives used Mariah to make her seem more exotic or memorable and they backed it up with a new birth year.]

I would love this so much to happen but Christmas is in three days, less than that. Don't think it can climb that fast in such amount of time, as after Christmas all the hype will fall and New Year's bombastic songs will start. It is still amazing, setting such a record, and with a song that has had such longevity. Amazing feature.

Oh, I thought you were referring the other way around haha. I also wondered once when I saw them on a night out and thought "isn't like school time and kinda late to be out", but I only asked myself that because one of her kids is big. I'm guessing they must have tutoring, she doesn't bring her two gals with her only when going out with Mariah, but every time Stella goes anywhere. I'm guessing it was the only way to be with her kids since she travels a lot, overall now more than ever that she has to follow MC's steps. Mariah seems to be getting close with her, because if not I would find it so weird and strange for both sharing such family intimate moments and also going on holidays and vacations together.

So I just looked at the video and was blown away by the (for me) never before heard MB and MC duet. Went straight to the YouTube home page and couldn't find it, and then to Google. Could this be from it? I would love to hear that whole thing.

I get what you're saying but I'm thinking maybe like M, Stella is a single mom trying to make it happen. Stella's girls are still young so maybe that's why she wants them with her wherever she goes, and that depends upon Mariah's next gig. It's no different when we used to see Rachel's girl prancing around up on stage, or when JD had his daughter with him in Aspen that one year. I'm pretty sure they have a private tutor and are probably like older sisters to Dembabies. I get the whole Stella being a bit strange thing, because I initially thought that too. But from what I can tell she's actually pretty cool and sweet, she's all about woman helping each other. And the nature of their work is kind of unrealistic, with all the traveling that they do. I think it's just different for a woman. Like, I'm sure it would much easier for Mariah if she had Dembabies being taken care of and going to preschool in NY while she's off on her European tour. Maybe Stella's girls will stay put somewhere when they're high school age. Anyways, I just seem them as part of M's ever growing entourage. The life of a legendary diva.

May, when I said I am tired of "seeing her kids everywhere, every country Mariah goes to" and when I question if they don't have school, I meant Stella's kids, not Mariah's. Of course Mariah's kids will go with her. I meant I am tired of seeing Stella's kid go everywhere Mariah is heading. Be it at Paris, Aspen, Vegas, Malibu or even random places in NY. She was even there when Mariah went to dinner with Packer at Nobu and also on the holiday she went with Packer in Italy. So that it strange and weird. I am all for Stella-Mariah partnership. I think Stella did a splendid job of bringing Mariah back from disaster but it's also unnecessary for her to take her kids on the job all the time. That's just my opinion.

Oh gosh, no way. That would definitely hurt Mariah's ego. I'm sure she'd rather live with 18 #1's than have Packer buy it for her.

I don't feel there's anything strange with her. She seems to be an incredibly confident and strong woman, hard working/self made, very independent, and somehow looks like a "momma tiger" always with her kids around. I think some of these aspects are rubbing on Mariah and Mariah as well is rubbing her cheerful self to Stella, and I feel is a positive thing. Since Stella appeared in the scene Mariah's career has been looking nice, granted Mariah is working hard herself and not letting anything from the past year put her down, after seeing her cry like two-three times on stage while singing last year, it's so nice to see her back in all her cheerful bloom. Clearly even if Stella gives you weird vibes, if it was bad it would show, yet Mariah's light seem to shine brighter every time, which makes me think her new working partner and I'm guessing new friend is making her good. Probably they get along also because they are on the same "plane", as in, both are moms so Mariah has someone to talk to about mom things and feel related. Regarding Mariah's kid going to school, didn't they go to a summer school? Pretty sure the kids are on hold until primary school and might just be enjoying being with mom, which should be a priority. I don't know how is in the US, in Scandinavia pre-school and kindergarten are not compulsory, still many parents take their kids to school at that young age because working hours. My daughter stayed with me full time until she was 3 and a half. Now she will be 5 years old tomorrow and already ready for primary school. Also, this is Mariah Carey we are talking about, surely her kids can have private tutoring.

AWFCIY goes top 10 AGAIN on Swedish iTunes at #5 (58,638)

Yay. All I Want For Christmas is climbing the charts everywhere. On the Swedish singles chart it's currently at #15 (peak is #4 in 2013). Not surprising as it already outperformed it's 2014 run in November. It's looking like a really nice cap on 2015. Hollah haters. No shady pines for Mariah just yet. Sorry, not sorry. Maybe next lifetime.

If Packer really knew Mariah, he would hire people to create accounts and purchase say about 300k of AIWFCIY, stream it online, and calling in radio stations to push it for the #1 spot on BB Hot 100. That'll be a better gift than any diamond or vacation can bring. Just saying lol.

I get your lamb problem about not being able to see Mariah as her character but I was able to see Melissa. I thought the movie was really cute and it fit in with the Hallmark theme. It wasn't Glitter horrible like some suggests, but for her directorial debut I thought she did great. I do think some people were overly exaggerating though, Mariah appeared in the movie just as much as Santa - she was not the star of the show, although I'm sure Mrs. Atkinson thinks differently. If Mariah wants to continue with doing movies, I do hope she takes more acting classes working with a coach, etc. Yes, there were a lot of Mariah-isms. Santa telling Emily to turn a negative into a positive was one. There were some Glitter moments as well, a single mom and daugther, and when Lacey's character dug out old momentos from a box and cries. And was it just me but little Emily is literally Roc's twin? They look so much alike it's crazy. But yeah, I'm glad Mariah got to live out her Regina George fantasy. Good effort.

These ego games are getting more weird. I am here for Mariah. I only wanted to prove a point. A certain inflated egomaniac can get hurt with a few sentences. Yet, he can write long paragraphs ranting about how Mariah sucks and expects no repercussions. He is the epitome of a narcissist. This is probably my last post here. I will only watch the circus of Andrew, the megalomaniac who wants to control and gathers more followers.

Billboard, let's just stop playing and make AIWFCIY and honorary #1, thus making it her 19th #1. I mean come on this song is charting steadily on Billboard since 1806, even after the fact that back in 94 it wasn't even released as a proper single. This song's success is on a whole other level. Petition to ignore all rules and make it her 19th #1 haha.

A Christmas Melody (58,631)
by Warrior Butterfly from USA

This project is very Hallmark and very Mariah Carey at the same time. Hallmark because they love to give that fuzzy feeling, like Lifetime loves to turn out unauthorized TV movies. However being a lamb kind of ruined it for me in some ways all I could see was Mariah, not just as the PTA character but her other lambified hints. Emily being refereed to as "M", Emily carries a butterfly pillow to her new house, Abigail Mariah's film daughter looks like an older Monroe. I'm sure the method of playing a character the opposite of yourself in real life appealed to Mariah as a person, but I still saw Mariah Carey. I know it's nit picky but for the opening credits the font used is LaguneBold, Mariah's default font if you will. What I did like was that Oh Santa was changed up to fit the plot of the film. I wounder how a non-Mariah fan perceived the film some one flipping through the channels and happened to stop there. I wish she had more anaminity.

Congrats to Mariah and the lamblily for the new peak of this holiday staple. This is really great news. I am so proud of Mariah and I hope this shuts up the ignorant headlines that were popping up a while back that Mariah has been dethroned by some new Christmas song, whereas they didn't specify it was only in the retail stores. The song has strong potential to reach top 15 next Tuesday, even if it doesn't #18 is great.

Wow, amazing, the USA people still love this song, they download it like crazy the same in Spain is at no. 3, she deserves it, it was made from pure vison of love, vision of love. She needs to do a little showcase in the heart of Times Square just like that, spontaneously to drive more attention, to put that song into top ten, be close to the people, a suprise appearance, sorry my ideas.

My review of the movie and the special (58,626)
by Randy from USA

I really didn't want to comment because I am tired of being the bad guy on here. I'm also tired of people questioning whether or not I'm a fan or a hater. But I have to say that I didn't expect much from the movie and it was pretty bad. I get the part about it being Hallmark channel and sentimentality, but the same woman who wrote Looking In, Outside, Petals, and Right To Dream decided that this was a good project to represent her? You know, I felt the same way when I first saw Glitter. I kind of would have expected MC to be more into dark, deep movies like Precious but ok the movie isn't important. They made 19 Christmas movies this year. I want to talk about the special. It was amazingly, high glossed and polished. I watched it with friends. They all accused her of lip syncing but doing a really good job at it. The sad thing is that her vocal live performance reputation is so bad that we can't determine whether she is singing or not. I thought she sounded and looked like perfection. But I don't think the lipping criticisms can ever go away unless it's just her and the piano being amazing on television, which she seems to be able to do in concert. I'm ready for some new music because the last MC fix I had was MIAMTEC and that is my least favorite album by her. So hopefully April will bring a new album, since she tends to like spring or fall releases these days, and she'll only deal with Jermaine, Bryan Michael Cox, Big Jim and Babyface and leave the hip hop alone considering she'll be 46. That's all for now.

This is so awesome. But I doubt it will go any higher. Christmas songs drop the week before Christmas. It's still an incredible milestone for her. Add "AIWFCIY" to her list of top 20 hits. Did she set a record for longest time between debut of a song and the years it took before it actually hit top 20? Someone needs to ask Billboard so she can add it to the stock of records/accomplishments. So now she has had two top twenty hits during this decade. Say what you want about her new music not charting well lately, but you're still buying her 1994 Christmas music.
