Re: The future (60,300) (60,305) by MC1989 from Spain
We shouldn't be disrespectful with each other. Freedom of speech and thoughts but with respect. Just saying.

I'm from the USA, and I think Donald Trump is a total a$$h@le. I also think politics is stupid. I wish there was another planet that I could fly away too. Sometimes the things that happen here on this planet make me ashamed to be an earthling. We are all just victims of our conditioning, but I agree, we need to at least try to get along.

Andrew's post (60,303) by Musti from UK
I think Andrew raises some very valid points. The black culture issue might be right to some extent. Sampling and featuring Cam'ron on Boy (I Need You) so soon after the original wasn't the smartest move but it did cement her deeper in the hip hop culture, which is what she wanted. It wasn't original at all but she really wanted that street credibility. That's when the nickname Hoodriah started circulating. Anyone remember the single cover and the Street Remix? I love the Street Remix by the way. I'd say since then she has simply been doing what she likes, no desperation whatsoever. She is far from her Charmbracelet days when she had just done Glitter and she needed shelter from a community that was willing to embrace her, more than the white crowd at the time. She has been doing R&B since day 1, it's nothing new (let's not forget Prisoner please). I think she feels more comfortable with rappers in general as they all worship her. It's not like collaborating with female singers where there will always be that temptation to oversing and outdo her. Which is also why I think a duet with Beyonce would work so well because, like Mariah, she knows how to respect those that have come before her. Heartbreaker Remix is my favourite Mariah uptempo and the song wouldn't be the same without Da Brat and Missy's parts. Rappers do not downgrade her music. It's the quality of the music she's been producing that's the problem. Of course it's beautiful music, but it's also repetitive. She can do so much better. And she must, if she wants to remain relevant. I'd still eat up whatever she does though. And for God's sake Andrew, clearly vocabulary is not your issue so please be more selective with your words. You can sound so annoying sometimes that it's hard to take you seriously even when you have something valid to say.

Re: The future (60,302) by Ian from United Kingdom
He lives in lalaland. I come from the UK too and am laughing so hard, you must be so proud coming from a country where people think Donald Trump would be a good choice as president. Seriously though, not all UK fans share Andrew's views, we are individuals as are MC fans all over the world. Let's not pitch countries against each other, can't we all just get along. Lol.

Re: The future (60,283) (60,301) by George Golden from UK
That doesn't mean she has to sing with every rapper alive and the ones yet to be given birth to. The rap collaboration is putting a lot of people off. She tries too hard. It has been become redundant and repetitive. Let's be honest with ourselves. She needs to stop repeating herself and get on with it. People far less talented than her are catching up and she is still coming up with songs like Infinity?

Adele and Sam Smith are white artist singing and writing R&B music and [...] from the UK. Andrew's opinion is irrelevant. He lives in lalaland.

I no longer see her listed as a performer on the website. I hope this is just an oversight. I was really looking forward to going.

Parodies (60,298) by Lara from Middle East
Every new hit is getting a parody, look at Adele's "Hello" how many parodies it got on YouTube. The lyrics need to be simple, the tune straightforward (less layering) at least at the beginning so people could copy it. Imagine Fantasy released now. I'd do a parody of it and switch the lyrics to "sleep sleep tiny baby, when [...] close [...] eyes [...] make me so happy" lol (it's the sleep deprived mom talking here).

Re: The future (60,283) (60,297) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
Marissa, I agree. I noticed last year his change in tone when discussing the differences of opinion from the UK fans regarding stereotypes with race versus the people in the USA that actually deal with it. He stated my living demographic was "ghetto" and he really seems to lack the education needed to understand why R&B music is loved here. It's not the UK, so I am sure it's the typical European way of feeling "entitled and no other person's feelings or lives matter, just as long as I remain blunt and get my point across. It's about me and only me. My point is the only point that matters in the world." I admit not every UK or European fan acts like him but it is what it is. By the way, I live in a prestigious area at Purdue University and am approaching my last years of college. Even I can appreciate great music from Mariah of all her styles. There's no shame in my game honey.

How's the tour selling (60,296) by thomas holt from Denmark
I'm off to see her in Copenhagen the end of the month, and I'm beyond exited. This'll be my first Mariah show. Does anyone know how the tour in general is selling?

Re: Article: Mariah Carey: I still don't know J Lo (60,268) (60,295) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Haha as much as I have been advocating Mariah toning down the shades, this shade in particular was so flawless, I just can't. I mean who would have thought she would come up with a flawless remix of the O.G. legendary shade a decade later and make it even better than the original. Mariah - queen of remixes.

Still don't know her (60,293) by 123 from USA
So JLo says that they've met many times last week on Wendy, but in 2014 she said, "I don't have a feud against her at all," the single-again singer insisted. "I know from back in the day, I've read things that she's said about me that were not the greatest, but we have never met. Like, we don't know each other. I think it's kind of from word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I'm not really aware of. But I don't know." So you've never met and you don't know each other to you've met many times in a span of one year? Look who seems to be forgetful now?

Maxwell's new single (60,290) by 123 from USA
Should be dropping soon. Since they are both going to perform at Essence this year, I'm throwing my vote in again for them to do a duet together for her new album. Can you imagine Mariah on a track sounding like this one.

B you took the words right out of my mouth (60,288) by Nikki from usa
It does have those two written all over it. When MC was announced for idol J.Lo was all accommodating. Then, she got paid the highest ever while J.Lo's world tour was flopping and she started saying how MC was so mean to her back in the day. When J.Lo and her team first started talking of a residency they were trying to hype it up and pit her against Spears. Spears proved herself as a headliner and was starting to get comparisons to Dion (money-wise) after she was able to get a raise. J.Lo's people were talking her up as if she was going to get a more lucrative contract than Britney. Then, the next thing you know she was rejected outright for demanding too much money. It also turned out J.Lo's people went to Vegas looking for a deal instead of Vegas approaching her for one. Then, MC makes the announcement she's going to Vegas. Immediately, the press started comparing her to Spears and claimed MC would be paid about the same for less shows. The next time around J.Lo and her people didn't mention anything about her deal or how much she was going to be paid. Hint, hint. Instead, we're getting all this crap about J.Lo finding MC's Billboard performance "long" right before J.Lo announces her residency and after she starts it. So, it's interesting this article compared MC to J.Lo and Spears instead of Dion - the other diva who sings at the same locale. This just in: a world famous singer "only" has her voice as a draw. Would someone also inform that article writer that in a Vegas show "her people" aren't the ones selling the tickets. Vegas doesn't "give away" half their theaters to make their singers feel better.

That's it. We're calling Mariah's next project "The Songbird Supreme". That sounds like a kickass comeback album with kickass singles.

Re: The future (60,278) (60,285) by Tevin from USA
Have you noticed at least in the U.S. there has been quite a few songs that have came out with a 90's throw back sound this year. Some songs like Zayndya and Chris Brown song new song "Want to Try" uses the same music from TLC creep with more base and slightly updated sound. Anyway I think this is the perfect time for Mariah to relished a Daydream part 2. With a slight updated sound.

Re: The future (60,278) (60,284) by Licia from USA
What's wrong with her sticking to rnb? If you knew anything about the specific genre I doubt you'd keep calling it dreary. I get that people don't always like the rappers and I can agree that there have been a few that sucked, but to dismiss a whole genre is ludicrous. I disagree that she sticks with rnb or the hip hop songs because she's trying to get recognition from the black culture. I truly believe she just loves that type music and when she's in a good space she represents it well. She should stick to what makes her happy, but it should also be great. No more Infinity or Why You Mads. IMO the problem is not the type of music she sings, it's that she's not fully committed to music at this point. If she's not 100% committed to making great music then the music will suck no matter if she chooses pop or rnb.

Re: The future (60,278) (60,283) by Marissa from USA
I was agreeing with you up until the "she has a desperate need for recognition within black culture". I don't think Mariah collaborating with rappers or doing mainly R&B has anything to do with a desperate need for recognition from black people. It has to do with the fact that those are the genres that she prefers. Also is doing pop and ballads (which she has made very obvious that she prefers not to do that much) out of a desperate need for recognition by white people any better? One thing that I have noticed about you is that every time Mariah and rap are brought up your criticism of it seem to be racially charged. You're quick to paint rap or hip-hop as some depraved art form that Mariah is too pure and white to affiliate herself with. You seem to be forgetting that Mariah is part black. I don't know what it's like over in the UK but here in America if you are mixed it is usually at least somewhat easier to be accepted by black people than it is by white people (the one drop rule), so maybe she feels more welcomed by that part of her heritage and thus goes with it.

This is why you never shade Mariah. Jennifer tried it on Wendy but ended up getting hit right back triple fold. She's completely non existent to Mariah. Poor Jennifer lol. I'm laughing.
