Re: album titles / "Phoenix" by Labelle (60,699) by Billy from Greece
By the album titles some of you guys suggest, I wonder whether you have been following another artist all these years. On the basis of Mariah's personality, do you really believe she would go for the ones I see here? On another note, Labelle had an album called "Phoenix" back in the late 1970s. Really strong album, check it out.

May (60,698) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
May, your post (well the part about me in your Re: The 90s (60,586)) really brought a smile on my face. It's so sweet of you and honestly I am so happy that you and some people appreciate my posts and opinions. Thank you for the compliments about my posts, I really do enjoy finding out new pictures of Mariah and when I do, I just have to share it with someone, and since I don't really know a lot of people as obsessed/in love with Mariah (they don't know what they are missing out on) where I live, and so I either have to share it with you all, or pass out of excitement at my place with no one to share it with haha. Also, I just feel so proud when Mariah nails a look because she has set so many fashion trends but is still not regarded as a fashion icon, so gotta get the word out. Anyways, just wanted to leave you a small thank you note. It always makes me happy when people appreciate my contributions/posts on this board. I love your straight forward opinions too and I like it that there has been a lot of times that your posts have made me re-think some of my opinions from a different perspective. Lots of love. Here's to the glam lovers and cool non-teenagers.

Re: Toxic relationships (60,693) (60,697) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Hahah, if Mariah ever was like "Would you like to stay..." I wouldn't even let her finish her sentence, I would start packing and be like "Don't even worry about my accommodations, I will be perfectly fine sleeping in your closet." But that is exactly why she should never hire me as her manager you know lol. As for Wilfredo's departure, you are right he was ruining her style game and like I said obviously Page Six did exaggerate in their stories as expected. But I just want Mariah to be aware (not because I think she is not smart enough, Lord no, people made the mistake of thinking that when they thought she married Nick without a prenup haha) but because with the whole grueling schedule of a world tour, being a mother, planning a wedding and working out both her voice and body, I can't blame Mariah if she is a little distracted, you know what I mean? It also worries me that her finances, business and legal issues are also being handled by Stella's friends/relatives. That is never a good idea to have all of these come from one person. I am all for Stella whipping people in shape since Mariah's team did slack off but giving control of so much of her life to one person is not the best thing, but hey I might be wrong. I will keep an eye out during the documentary to see how much attention Stella tries to bring on herself though to see if my suspicions are right. But I do hope very much that I am wrong.

I agree, I'm really digging "Phoenix". I also think "The Phoenix Empress Or Songstress" could work as well. It's definitely a very strong title. But I think I'd just go with "Songbird" or "Phoenix". We also need a good cover. I hate the "Me I am Mariah" and "Infinity" cover art.

On Mariah's behalf (60,695) by Giovanni from USA
"Vision of love" literally destroys anything any other songwriter has ever written. This song is legendary and iconic. And will go down as one of the best songs of all time. I would say that Mariah's songwriting went down after "The Emancipation Of Mimi". I'm also disappointed that she left amazing songs like "Once in a lifetime", "Bring it on home" and "Triumphant" unfinished and wasted. They all had potential to be huge hits if she promoted. The problem with "Triumphant" is that it should have been a solo.

Re: The 90s (60,586) (60,694) by May from Denmark
I think you may be right Ian, in that you are probably just getting old or it could be that it's because you are a guy. In the 90s, personally (can't speak for other girls), I was obsessed with Mariah's outfits from her videos and tours. I had the exact same ensembles she wore for some of her videos, like "Heartbreaker" where she had a pink crochet top, she even dared to wear platforms and top-ripped jeans when no one did, two things that after that video all girls were sporting. To think that people didn't talk about Mariah's clothes in the 90s is silly, because she was bashed several times for her "skimpy outfits" and bad choices. Yet she never cared. The worst was when Mottola told her what to wear around 1993-1994. Through all the "Daydream" tour she seemed to have uncomfortable outfits at times, with few occasions wearing full body tight jumpsuits or black leggings. But as a guy, it's ok if you didn't bother paying attention to her clothes or that gorgeous hairdos she used to sport. You even said in your post that no one is talking about new music, well... There's no new music to talk about and we all said every thing that it had to be said about MIAM and Infinity plus its infamous remix (thanks to Montana). We also talked so extensively about her voice and some not giving up on the dream that she will sing like when she was 22 years old, come on, let's live the present. Mariah is a mature woman who can wear the most glamorous dresses as casual outfits, be sexy on stage if she wants to and still write fresh music that is high quality with great lyrics. Mimi L. can write all she wants about fashion, I'm always looking for her posts because she finds some of the best more current pictures of Mariah, she wrote other things not related to fashion in the past and she is one of my favorite posters because she is zero drama and can still be pretty straight forward. If you, as a guy not interested in fashion, don't like her posts, don't read them. I had skipped posts or subjects that didn't interest me in the past, I don't see why you can't do the same. There's not much to talk about Mariah's music right now, except the way her voice is doing in the tour, what unexpected songs she is singing and her glam. Until a new album there's barely anything to say. And why people can't talk the way they want? Being an adult should entitle you to say whatever you want, not to become an instant sour grape. If they want to say darling, queen, slay, etc. what's the problem, gosh, to believe that when one turns 30 or 40 you got to be a killjoy. We don't all want to be the moms who can only talk about dirty diapers and the emotional stress that comes with paying high taxes. Some of us like to think we can still be "cool", be fun moms and pay the taxes with a happy smile and move on. And wow. Long post haha. Burn eyelashes, burn.

Re: Toxic relationships (60,684) (60,693) by May from Denmark
Come on Mimi L., as if you wouldn't accept to live with Mariah of she asked you to, I know I would, I wouldn't even blink haha. Mariah has always lived with someone, and her plethora of pets. Wilfredo Rosado was a good stylist yes but he is well known for being a maxi-divo, so I don't know what to think about the rest of the people who the magazine says has quit, has there even been an official note that Mariah camp is changing again? You said it yourself, her UK tour has hardly been promoted, so maybe her new publicist and tour team business wasn't working as expected? I will leave the question opened to be answered in the future, because I would say is too soon to tell yet. Page Six, does anyone really read that thing at all? I think they are trying to poke Stella because she got easily angry, if we believe that she indeed wrote that email. That's the problem with sites like that, what we can believe or not. If she wrote it, hopefully she learnt from the last time and won't bother answering to these people. What I dislike about their recent articles is that make Mariah look as if she is a fool woman who can't figure out things on her own and has no voice of her own, come on, Mariah can't be that stupid, she has had so many years in the industry, pretty sure she knows all the type of people who approach her for different reasons. Mariah was surrounded by "yes men" in the past, she doesn't need that anymore. Some have expressed their discontent with Rosado for his demands, well, now he is gone, good riddance I say, Mariah needs people who help her be on time, not delay her with their personal drama.

New bodysuit (60,692) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Not a fan of the new bodysuit Mariah debuted at her last show. It looks tacky and it basically looks like a bejeweled swimsuit that only a diva like Mariah would wear while swimming. Sharp contrast from the original bodysuit she was wearing for the first few shows which were classy and sexy. But I heard she was losing beads from that one so maybe she had to stop using it. But this one is just horrible, not flattering (she still looks good because well she is Mariah) and to top it off, that necklace has to go. I can't deal with this disaster.

Mariah in Birmingham (60,691) by Kajal from UK- Birmingham
So happy this morning I saw Mariah yesterday in Birmingham and she was awesome. I sat 5 rows away and she looked and sounded amazing. I am so honoured to see her perform she is just breath-taking. I found her more relaxed in this concert - no gimmicks or over the top ensembles jut a few dance moves but she kept real to her voice and she was so wonderful. I do hope one day she will go back to her honey brown hair and curls because she isn't ageing at all and I know she will look like her butterfly days. I think her next album needs to go back to her roots and work with people like Walter or those who compose melodies to showcase her voice as she still has it - maybe John Legend. It's not about taking a new direction but sticking to a formula that works because she can get more hits. She is not like the other artists Mariah is unique and nobody can surpass her talent and musicality. But if she just strips down to a piano and soft music instruments to make ballads like I Am Free, When I Saw You etc etc she will bring back the fire we know she still has in her. Plus people will start to see her growing in maturity and all she needs is a stage and a mic and she will be a sell-out. Just my opinion guys but I have followed this site for over ten years and go on it everyday and read all your comments and love you guys. Keep respecting each other as we do and support our lady. We love you MC.

Re: The 90s (60,688) (60,690) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Exactly. Thank you. I always wanted to say that before without sounding so antagonistic, I guess I was just looking for an opening. If we're really being honest, the critics weren't really being harsh on her back then when they dismissed her songwriting attempts. A lot of Mariah's earlier lyrics sounded straight out of a Hallmark card - ridden with trite platitudes and cliches (although that's also part of the reason why her hits were so relatable and succesful). Most of us equate those with being "deep", "introspective" or "brilliant". Of course there were several exceptions (MIH, AIWFCIY). It wasn't until Daydream that Mariah start to improve and adopt a more vivid, storytelling style with clever quips, sublime rhyming and wordplay here and there as well as the occasional brilliant choices of words you'd usually only read out of a lexicon. Today, even if sometimes Mariah's lyrics pander to a younger crowd, try too hard to be hip with embarassing results, or just try to cram too many words within a line, it's still way better than what she did over 20 years ago. That's why you rarely see critics complaining about the lyrical content of her newer material. What the critics loved back then (and still love), though, other than her voice, was her musicality. Genius just emanated from her. She was always a better composer than a lyricist. Even when she seems to be stuck in a rut sonically, there's just a special inexplicable way of how she puts songs together that can't be replicated by any artist.

Mariah the singer/songwriter (60,689) by MimiLamb from Germany
She was always seen as a great vocalist, people didn't think or believed she was a songwriter, something she had to fight for to get the recognition. I don't agree that her lyrics weren't always that great in the 90s. Beeing a fan for a long time is not a reason (been a fan since 1990 myself) in my opinion, more a matter of taste. I do think that after her divorce from Tommy her lyrics became deeper, more personal/meaningful.

Re: The 90s (60,687) (60,688) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
I'm sorry to say this, but in the 90s Mariah was never considered a serious songwriter. Everyone always said that she was a great singer, but that she could be much bigger if her songs (and especially her lyrics) were better. And to be honest, her lyrics weren't always that great. I know what I'm talking about, I've been a fan since 1993 and I have this website since 1998.

Keep speaking for yourself. You've done it again. Around of applause for you. You played yourself lmao. Standing O baby. You can't even back yourself up. "Mariah was never considered a serious singer" is the most thoughtless, dull-witted, statement I've ever heard. Music critics have always been negative to music artists and will always have something to say (it's called doing their job) but for anyone who dares to say she was never considered as a serious singer is highly moronic. No one should utter those words. Ever. It's blasphemous. You clearly think you know too much but you don't. Think of better words next time dahling.

Random (60,686) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Lol what is she getting her glam done for? Like seriously are you going on tour? She even left with Mariah with her hair in pins like that. Lord with Mariah's close family members out of the picture (and trying to drag her), Nick only caring about the kids, all her old friend (JD, Randy, and the likes who were horrible managers but good friends) I wonder who will warn Mariah. Because clearly Mariah has no time to get on the internet and see what we write. It's Stella. Even James was seen yelling at Stella in a video. I hope when James and MC gets married, it'll bring a stop to this weird habit of Mariah living with 200 people in her house. It's just not healthy. There should always be a healthy distance between the professional and personal life.

Album title (60,685) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am loving both "Phoenix" and "Songbird" and my little suggestion "Fire". But I think if Mariah is confident that she has a strong body of work, like "Butterfly" and "TEOM", she should definitely go for "Phoenix". It'll be perfect after the years she has been dragged through the mud. That name with a killer album cover and a strong body of work and please oh please right single choices is all we will need to get Mariah back to her throne. I think for singles she should put a few snippets on her website or instagram (insta might be too short though) and then ask the fans to choose the singles.

Toxic relationships (60,684) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So Stella calling off Page Six has gotten her exactly where I thought it would get her. Page Six is now out in full force, digging up the skeletons in her closet. How much of it is true, we'll probably never know and I won't be surprised if some are exaggerated but I can't help but think that some of the things mentioned are right. I was wondering a while back where Michael Richardson (her tour manager and I think part of her security detail) went, and turns out he left. Same with her business manager and all. Then last time we got news that her stylist Wilfredo Rosado (who also designed her engagement ring) is holding up the production of the reality series and according to page six he is now quitting. What is surprising me the most is not only is everyone from Mariah's old camp out (which is not necessarily a bad thing) but also her publicist Chris Chambers is quitting and he just joined her team last year after the departure of Cindi. So now the only and only people around Mariah are Stella, her daughters, Stella's close friend/relative Zarina (who is a lawyer and book keeper) and Lianna (another one of Stella's people) and Kris Buckle. We are quick to give Stella credit, but we don't know how much of the new Mariah is Stella's doing. I am not saying she didn't do anything. The Vegas gig was already in place, Mariah's weight loss/gain is something MC does every now and then, the UK tour got very little promo and managed to sell well on Mariah's brand name alone and because she went there after so long. What makes me dislike Stella is that she is practically living with her kids at Mariah's house, the only people travelling with Mariah are Stella's inner circle, Stella pushed in her younger daughter in Mariah's movie, now I have a feeling she'll try to get a prominent role for her and her daughters in the reality show. Lastly what is this all about "When I leave, at 1.15am, her manager tells me that my whole life is going to change now Mariah has shed her light on me. Her fairy dust has been showered." How weird is this? She even got the magazine to call her "the glamorous manager". Jeez, Mariah I know you are smart, just keep your eyes open.

Re: The 90s (60,665) (60,683) by 123 from USA
It was used to describe Mariah's use of the word "fervid" in Fourth of July. My interpretation was that the critic was trying to brush Mariah off as someone who was trying to sound smarter than she actually was, which we know is farther from the truth. The most classic, Mariah hating review is the one in Entertainment Weekly of "Heartbreaker". They literally gave the song an "F" rating because they accused Mariah of using the same sample used in Fantasy in Heartbreaker. Had the critic did their homework and read the credits, they would have noticed that Heartbreaker sampled "Attack Of The Name Game" and Fantasy sampled "Genius of Love".

More Page Six drama (60,682) by Lee TS from USA
I hope this isn't true, this is crazy. It sounds almost scary and threatening. Oh dear. The only person recognizable from her entourage nowadays is Kristofer. If he leaves too, oh no. Ok a bit dramatic.

New era / Stella (60,681) by Giselle UrbanPoshBeauty from US of A
Am I the only one worried for Mariah when it comes to Stella? Because she doesn't know how to properly deal with reporters. Page Six has yet another article about Stella, it got me thinking about Mariah and her "team". Anyone notice her team around her is mostly Stella and her family? All her long time team whose been with her for years are all gone. Even her long time tour manager is gone. He was there at the start of Vegas but is gone now. I hear, if it's true her stylist is getting tired of it all. (On a side note, no lie I've been trying to get info to Stella to get rid of him for months now lol. Sorry WR, but you dress her like a aging old lady. Enough with the darn stockings and open toe shoes so bye bye ). If Page Six is true then her long term business manager is leaving and Stella has brought on her lawyer and manager. I really hope Mariah isn't letting this woman totally come aboard and run things and she's turning into Michael jackson. I do find it weird, she has Stella there with her whole complete family there too and they are part of her "reality" show. A show which a year before Stella, Mariah would have rolled her eyes at doing.

Re: Next album title (60,647) (60,680) by 123 from USA
Thanks Giovanni. I like your proposal too, but I also think that Songbird would be a better album title and Songbird Supreme would be a better tour name. Kind of like how The Adventures Of Mimi was a proposed album title and instead of letting the idea die, they used it to name the tour.

Re: The 90s (60,673) (60,679) by B from USA
She wasn't taken seriously by the Grammy's after she went public with her relationship with Tommy and their subsequent marriage. She was snubbed for both Pop Vocal Album of the Year for Daydream, Song and Record of the Year for One Sweet Day, and R&B Album of the Year for Butterfly. Lead The Way, which was the love theme of Glitter, should've been nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars despite the negative reception the film recieved. However, she's always been taken seriously as a singer songwriter she proved herself album after album in the 90's.

Re: The 90s (60,676) (60,678) by 123 from USA
Don't be mad at me because you tried to come for me and I schooled you. The public perception you speak of was Mariah in the 2000's. You obviously weren't around the 90's like I was. While you speak about second hand information, I grew up during that time. I could care less about a Grammy, the Grammy's or all the critics that have hated on Mariah, but everyone knows that all artists revere winning a Grammy because to them, it's the equivalent of winning an Olympic medal. I love how you swiped one of my sentences from my posts (Mariah Carey sold records because of her talent) in your sad, weak, and failed attempt at a clapback. You misunderstood my reflection on how the critics and industry hated on her in the 90's as my own personal opinion. So next time you try to sink your claws into someone because your basic comprehension level failed you into thinking they were dissing Mariah, read the post at least two more times... slowly. You are now the second student to attend my class, but I'm sure you won't be the last. Next time you will think twice before you question the teacher, because your predictable nursery rhyme children's book has just been read. Class dismissed.

Tour (60,677) by Liz Archer from Sweden
So upset and sad I can't go and see Mariah. I went to see her last time (and meet her) and it was a great experience. But this time I can't afford the travel or tickets, my current economical situation doesn't allow it. I hope she does this soon again when I am better prepared for it, although from that magazine article it seems she isn't planning a new tour anytime soon again.

Re: The 90s (60,673) (60,676) by JAXGH from United States
Lmao nice try. You just made yourself look more stupid. Nobody puts faith in the Grammy's. We all know it's bullcrap and extremely political. Mariah is definitely considered as a serious singer by both the music industry (AMA, Soultrain, WMA, Billboard) and the public. You're just bringing up bleak moments from her career. Mariah Carey sold records because of her talent. Regardless what the critics say (which by the way is irrelevant). She can freaking sing. She is and will always be considered as a serious singer. Point dot dot. Just check her catalog darling. Next time don't dig yourself a bigger hole.

Batman has got nothing on Mariah. Haha I don't know how I feel about the cape situation. She looks great here though. Very chic. I thought it was waist length and that would have been edgy but the shawl-cape hybrid is making me feel some kind of way. Not necessarily good lol.
