Mariah Carey Top 20? (58,266)
by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA

Mariah will probably make the Hot 100 top 20 next week. AIWFCIY has been in the top 20 on iTunes for at least 7 days. I have checked everyday and it has yet to budge. It could go top 10 but for some odd reason she is not promoting it. I don't get it. It is increasing in sales and climbing rapidly on Spotify. She needs to promote now. In the U.K. AIWFCIY is averaging over 200,000 streams AIWFCIY is currently #5 on Spotify according Kworb in the UK. All I Want For Christmas Is You iTunes: #3 Latvia #4 Mongolia #4 The Bahamas #12 Denmark #14 Norway #15 Sweden #16 United States #16 Spain #18 Ireland #19 Canada #20 Cambodia #20 Hungary #21 Netherlands #21 New Zealand #21 Peru #22 Portugal #27 Greece #29 Bahrain #31 Armenia #31 Slovenia #32 Poland #33 United Kingdom #33 Australia #35 Belgium #36 Italy #38 Czech Republic #40 United Kingdom #46 Ireland #48 Austria #51 Switzerland #54 Belize #55 Germany #56 Singapore #59 Estonia #62 Japan #69 Bulgaria #74 France #75 Mexico #85 Finland #87 Luxembourg #89 Philippines #94 Romania #108 Indonesia #111 Papua New Guinea #132 United Arab Emirates #135 Vietnam #141 Indonesia #147 Slovakia #149 New Zealand #159 Spain #168 Norway #172 Bermuda #175 Italy #181 Dominican Republic #189 Azerbaijan #200 Japan Spotify: #3 Poland #5 United Kingdom #6 Ireland #8 Austria #9 Worldwide #9 Denmark #10 Germany #10 Sweden #11 Norway #15 Netherlands #16 Belgium #16 Italy #16 Switzerland #20 United States #20 Canada #26 Hong Kong #27 Portugal #41 Singapore #42 New Zealand #46 Australia #49 Finland #53 Philippines #54 Malaysia #56 Spain #59 Taiwan #90 France #153 Turkey

Performance with Busta (58,263)

She didn't sound bad. I can't even criticize her considering how bad she has sounded in the past. My problem is for someone considered the best singer in the world because of what she does in the studio, this was dreadful. And I'm tired of the excuses, she's been singing for 25 years, she just got out of the hospital, she couldn't hear herself. She started this scratchy pitchy live foolishness on Oprah 1997 and has been pretty consistent since.

Woah, it's okay to say a performance wasn't her best. I'm the first to point out when Mariah pulls it out of the bag, but I'm not deluded enough to think that every performance she does is amazing. It's also called an opinion. Everyone has one. There's no need to jump down the throats of people whose opinions differ from yours.

Mariah sleighs even at her worst (58,258)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

Why do all these people seem to have the collective memory of a single goldfish where Mariah's live performances are concerned? She was in the hospital on a drip less than a week ago suffering from severe flu symptoms. It was all over social media, TMZ, YouTube and MCA. Yet that is somehow irrelevant when reviewing her performance with Busta Rimes on Hot For The Holidays. When is the last time any of you checked out of a hospital straight into full make-up, hair and wardrobe and performed a full set for a corporate lumber company's Christmas party and probably had to fly miles away from home to get there? You people are just determined to relive the Rockefeller 2014 experience one way or the other, come rain or snow, aren't you. Sad, yet predictable. Mariah showed up to support her friend to help celebrate his milestone longevity in the music industry for free and the crowd loved it. But I guess if you're gonna be a Grinch, now would be the perfect time.

She better. That's the weekend I'm planning to be in Vegas to see her. I'll be positive and say yes the shows will go on. I think lots of people buy tickets to Vegas shows last minute as they're vacationing etc. At least that's how I think of it.

"Prince hit the nerve. Billboard never acknowledges Mariah's success and rather give props to artists with less achievements for some reason. Billboard charts became a business some are willing to follow but I'm happy MC is beyond that." You're right Sofia. And you know It could only have been someone like Prince who could have exposed them like he did. As he doesn't have anything to prove and he is known to release his material in ways Billboard doesn't always credit as legitimate sales. Of course the usual suspects are gonna wanna try and make this rather disappointing revelation about the bribery based culture at Billboard Magazine about everything but that. Corrupt losers. But in hindsight I'm really happy Mariah didn't get any of their fake awards. It just further endears her to me in light of recent events. They can keep 'em indefinitely while MiMi keeps her integrity and pristine moral compass intact. These things make me proud to be a Lamb.

What a beautiful performance. She looked like the epitome of glamour. I've watched a couple of old videos of her and some more recent and now at days Mariah is pure glam, she is looking like those big Hollywood stars from the 1930s in all their light, there's an evident evolution. I know a lot of people dislike her mermaid dresses but I just love them, she wears them with lot of grace. That video shows that Mariah is made of diamonds.

Busta bust (58,252)
by Lee TS from USA

Here's the HQ video of Mariah's performance with Busta. I initially thought she did pretty good when it came to her verse, but here you hear the slight scratch when she was trying to sing the chorus. Please don't hate me for this, but I have to agree with a lot of the reactions calling it a senior moment. It was her aura and stage presence, she was so stiff. Like if she was 75 doing this, I would be impressed but she's not. She just needed to work the stage more, maybe strut across stage with one hand holding the mic and the other doing the spirit fingers pretending to touch the audience. Something. And the shades did not help either. I know Busta was just being friendly with M, but the way he was holding her as if she was going to topple over. Anyway, it was still a fun moment.

I sensed nothing like that. All I could see is that Mariah was enjoying it fully, she was into it and confident. She seemed comfortable next to Busta to just let her voice flourish. To my ears, she sounded wonderful and I loved how she changed some parts. She was gorgeous and generally totally into her element in the hip-hop setting. I thought it was a beautiful meeting.

Yeah, it was just okay in my opinion. I think Mariah sounds her best when she lets it be effortless. Nowadays it seems like she does a lot of excessive belting and runs and although they don't sound atrocious, they do emphasize the strain in her voice. It's okay to play it simple, because simple with her is usually when she sounds the most stunning.

I told a friend Mariah tickets seemed not to be selling as much as they should be. He said, as an evil joke, maybe she'll start cancelling shows. I'm concerned. I bought a ticket for the February 19 concert. Is anyone keeping up with this? You guys think she will be able to sell all those tickets by February?

I haven't been able to tune in to Empire in its entirety, but I happen to have caught this scene where Sky Summers (Alicia Keys) is "called out" by a show host (or an emcee?) for being black only when it is convenient. That struck me as reminiscent of what they used to say about Mariah.

Thanks Andrew. I will definitely share my Beacon experience here. Can't wait for December 14. Last year was a beautiful show. Re: Prince spills tea: Billboard Lady Gaga's WOTY fraud (58,228) (58,244)
by Jared from USA

"This explains why she was completely ignored at this years [sic] Billboard Music Awards even though she hadn't honoured them with her presence since 1998. They neglected to give her an award for any of her major chart records since or even just for her legendary longevity to mark her 25th anniversary on the BB charts." Notes from Dreamville, where facts go to die and Mariah should get an award just for showing up. I guess this didn't happen. I only imagined Mariah being honored for having a huge year circa 2005-2006. Let's not be bitter about Billboard naming Gaga WOTY in 2015, payola or not. I'm not exactly fond of Gaga, either, but I don't think it's fair to attack her and diminish her attempts to stay relevant in the entertainment business. As far as I can tell, being named WOTY has nothing to do with chart success. They could have named any female artist WOTY and somehow justified it with a nice editorial piece. Furthermore, making the case that Billboard is now nothing more than a PR machine that can be bought doesn't put Mariah in the best light, either. For years, she rode that PR machine, and a large part of her legendary status rests on her 18 Billboard number 1 singles, among her other Billboard chart achievements. It's like saying only the Beatles and Elvis' charting achievements matter because Billboard has been irrelevant and/or corrupt since 1990 (or insert arbitrary year of your choosing). I remember when Mariah was being lambasted for "manipulating" the charts. To be fair, even before Billboard made their methodologies and formulas transparent, you couldn't blame record companies for trying to figure it out to boost their artists' standing on the charts just for the added promotion. On Billboard's part, it is an industry magazine. If the special interests in the industry have captured it, then it will eventually become so painfully obvious that the general public will move on and staying paying credence to it. Honestly, a Grammy these days doesn't seem like such a big deal now that we don't live in the age of broadcast television. Show me someone with millions of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram followers and I'll show you a star. Regardless of Mariah's success, whether it be measured in awards and accolades, chart presence, or a vast social media following, I think I would like her. She has a voice that is ear candy to me and many other attributes that are worthy of praise. I'm not worried about other artists stealing her limelight.

Wow for some reason I've never seen that. She's singing so well and her hand movements seem very early 90's haha. It baffles me how her voice goes through stages of being this good and then other days she has troubles. It must be frustrating for her but a major kick-ass moment when she has full control like she does here.

It wasn't the best, was it? I bet Mariah secretly wanted to kill Busta when he made them turn the music down so we could hear her more. Anyway, onwards and upwards. I'm sure we'll get some good performances out of her over the Christmas period too.
