A Christmas Melody (58,143)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|

Okay so I watched the clip of MC meeting Lacey in the corridor. I also watched it in the spirit of the film too. Guys, Mariah isn't trying to re-make Ben-Hur here, it's a light hearted, made for TV film. I thought Mariah's part was funny, especially when she was wriggling her hand in front of Lacey's face haha. You all really need to lighten up and take this film for what it is. Mariah clearly isn't taking herself seriously, so neither should we. Just sit back, relax, chill out and enjoy her for once.

Okay, we know that she can act when she wants to. This is just her being festive and enjoying the work, both acting and directing. It's not like she was aiming to win an Oscar with this movie. Chill guys and relax. And big hug from Croatia.

Well Shrek was born into his family's millions lol and Mariah and dem babies don't actually "need" his money, Mariah could stop working whenever, if ever she wanted to and that is not likely to ever happen. I would hope that whatever personal relationship she gets into will not be based on money. Hopefully Packer is as concerned about his own three children as some of you want him to be concerned about Nick and Mariah's children. Divorce is complicated and blending families even more so. Have some of you wanna be step-daddy Packer fans thought of the impact of M dealing with his children, or not would do to her family? Let's hope Shrek is as concerned about what Seal, who is alleged to be dating Packer's ex-wife, might be doing with his own children instead of acting like it's all easy and wonderful to jump into two four year old babies lives at this time in their and their mother's lives. Caution is never a bad thing in new relationships. Mariah's relationship with her children is a lifetime thing, but with men, most likely not.

I am not feeling it either. The shot was not MC's best acting moment. I know it was supposed to be comical but the acting was off.

Based on the clip I saw where Mariah and Lacey reconnect for the first time in the movie, I'm not feeling MC's performance. It didn't feel natural at all to me. I'm trying to take a breath since this is supposed to be a feel-good Hallmark movie rather than something being released in theaters, but because she's Mariah Carey, if this performance isn't good she is going to be read for filth by the general public.

I really hope that she would sing there. I mean, what is a better way of revenge than singing runs and whistles live to NBC's people for leaking that isolated vocals? Imagine when she sings dem golden notes, she stares right through the camera and pierced everyone's soul in the control room (or whatever it's called).

I actually looked up the Olympia necklace that Packer gifted Mariah, and it was more like a $300k gift. But to put it into pop culture terms, Mariah's wearing Kylie Jenner's ferrari on that neck. Bloop. Only a diva can do that lol.

Lol yeah I saw. It felt very forced in my opinion and the list was quite short, they could only 5 covers? I mean, Miley and Michael Buble could've completed their usual 7 things on a list. But yeah, the children needs to know AIWFCIY is Mariah's and nothing can challenge that.

I'll probably get hate on this post lol. I'm very happy with all the Mariah successes and it's her directorial debut and all that stuff but does she really need to use the soft lens on the camera when the camera's on her? It doesn't make any sense imo, it doesn't do anything to the storyline or convey a certain ambience. Also, I didn't really see Melissa McKean-Atkinson when Mariah acted her out, I just saw Mariah Carey, the singer with the platinum voice. I just wanna see her to be completely in the role, just like what she did when she was Hattie Pearl or Ms. Weiss. I mean, when I watch Empire, I wanna see Cookie Lyon, not Taraji. I shouldn't judge first from the leaked clips, but I'm just saying.

Clevver did a small segment about AIWFCIY covers. Even they couldn't keep away from mentioning Mariah during a season of which she is the undisputed queen. Lee TS, notice Miriam Isa is having to roll out one compliment after another haha, it's funny because previously she used to kind of shade Mariah. So it's funny that she had to host the segment dedicated solely to Mariah. Stella probably watched the previous episodes and caught Miriam being shady and got her to stand there and be nice.

It baffles me how so many of you are still holding on to these toxic emotions and the dead-end relationship with Mariah that you insist on still having year after year. You don't like the way she looks anymore, you think her music sucks, her friends annoy you, her acting is atrocious, her voice grates on your nerves, her personality embarrases you in public, her sense of humour makes you cringe and your friends and family don't like much either her except for that one song. Face it: You and Mariah Carey need to get a divorce. There. I said it. A trial separation is redundant at this point. And honestly, I can understand your frustration because it appears that Mariah doesn't ever listen to any of your advise, suggestions or random blurbs. It must be seven types of bitches the way she ignores you at parties, won't text you back in a timely manner, stopped CCing you in group emails, doesn't remember to send you a card on your birthday, screens your calls, asks you for your opinion only to do the exact opposite and started using new lingo that you don't understand. Me? I am very happy and fulfilled in our relationship. I feel like Mariah listens to me as a Lamb on a cosmic level. I tend to get exactly what I want from her or a very agreeable compromise. It happens every day. The reason is very simple: We dream the same dream and We want the same thing. *shout out to Diane Warren* That's the basis of any successful partnership along with trust, respect and love. The Lambily at large is very happy with Mariah. If you find that you are frequently not, then maybe you're just not that into her? IKR? What a crazy idea. So while you whine and cry about the bane of your existence on the daily, us hardcore Lambs are consistently getting what we want from our fave. And I'll be damned if I don't take a secret pleasure in knowing how my every wish and every dream somehow became reality while she's left y'all hanging time and again. That's gotta sting. But if you had better ideas that actually made sense to her brand and persona you too would be rewarded. Alas, that will never come to be. And that's OK too. Every hero needs a protagonist and that is your purpose whether you know it or not. Thank you for services rendered.

by Gemma from Australia

Why do these articles always sound like it's a bad thing for Mariah to wear or buy expensive stuff? She's rich, why shouldn't she enjoy it. At least Mariah worked for her millions and weren't just born into it like the Hilltons or the Kardasions, good on her for snagging a billionaire boyfriend I say. Mariah or her kids won't need to work again if she marries Packer.

So that's the reason Mariah isn't performing at Rockefeller Center Three Lighting. She is holding a grudge about the public embarrassment of the leaked live feed. I would hope that she find another network and give a great vocal of the song during the same month.

I disagree. She was awesome in Precious and in The Butler without a speaking part. She wasn't bad in WiseGirls. She can act if handled by the right people.

Coming here and having people like Adam post nothing but negative nonsense on everything Mariah does. Stating an opinion on how Mariah doesn't have the talent to act? Well I guess someone hasn't seen "Precious". I read enough bull**** on YouTube, then to come here and have to read more. No one's telling me to read one's postings, but I just can't seem to skip any because I love reading what you all have to say. But I guess I'm going to have to do so now because I'm so tired of all same, boring rants on how Mariah isn't doing this or that. Just leave the woman alone and let her do her thing. No need to be criticizing and complaining on everything she does or doesn't do.

Looking at actors/actresses that are successful today, there is a common theme that they move away from themselves intirely when approaching a certain character. Mariah did this for Precious and The Butler, even though her role was small in The Butler she still conveyed the emotion it needed and she done amazing in both. I feel that if Mariah went out of her comfort zone more when acting she would be great. I'm not sure if that scene is final, it seems unfinished to me. But to me she seems uncomfortable which might be a result of not getting into her character more. If I was in her position I'd have her wear a black fringe-bob wig, unflatering lighting and darker clothes. Really get the dark persona across and the passive aggressiveness. When she forgets about her insecurities she really shines.

In regards to the Hallmark project, I do agree like there might already be some missteps. It would be more believable if the role Lacey plays was given to an actress around Mariah's age. Maybe when they went to school together Mariah was a Senior and Lacey was the Freshman she tormented. I like the idea of Mariah playing a mean girl. She needs roles that are opposite of her image and perceived personality. When it comes to film, Mariah should not be in control at all as we see her insecurities have stifled the creativity of videos she's been involved in for the sake of vanity. I winced when I saw that a soft lens was used for her shots when everyone else was shot with a regular lens. It reminded me of Ru Paul's Drag Race. Whenever the camera shot to Ru, a soft lens was used. It had more of a comedic versus flattering effect. She needs to just play a supporting role that is a part of an ensemble cast. I do have to disagree about Mariah not having any talent as an actress to play anyone but herself. Her best role is in Wise Girls. She had a supportive role and stole all the shine away from Mira Sorvino an award winning actress. I still love the line, "This one is nice, but you look like a dyke in the rest of them."

Adam, did you miss the overhead fluorescent lighting in Precious? I wasn't aware Mariah came off as "playing herself" as a raped slave in The Butler. All that critical acclaim must've been done out of pity for someone without any talent. I actually like her performances and thought they were well done. I liked her Game of War commercial which most didn't expect from her. No commercial or one-liner is done in 1 take and MC doesn't choose them, the GoW people clearly liked that one for whatever reason. I prefer not to judge things until I see them. If MC is playing a bitch than maybe she was held back a few years. However, acting has nothing to do with age. Miley Cyrus's show on Disney had her "teenage brother" played by a 30 year old. MC's youthful looking for her age and makeup can do amazing things these days. I think most Hallmark movies are predictable and suck in general so I don't see Mariah reaching for the stars here, but that's just me. I'm hoping for some Bianca moments.

Yes. It would count as a #1 since it's no longer against the rules for seasonal tracks to chart on the Hot 100. But, it would be very difficult too. It's easy for her to top the seasonal chart because it doesn't require much, but the Hot 100 is a whole other beast. Seasonal tracks don't get anywhere near the airplay or downloads as a regular played track and momentum time is short.

I just read that in the Hallmark movie Lacey and Mariah are supposedly old classmates who meet once again as depicted in the clip where Mariah shows off her wedding ring. When I read that this morning I instantly moaned and gained. I can't believe Mariah is delusional to really expect the general public to buy into the fact that some 40 year old woman like herself is convincing enough to really play alongside Lacey as old classmates. I really think this movie should have been casted as Mariah playing a mentor role and her playing "Regina George" from Mean Girls. This blunder will be added to Glitter for roles she should leave to professional actors. Mariah doesn't have the talent as an actress to convincingly play anyone but herself and she's too vain to even be filmed in the standard lighting and angles as everyone else.
