Re: Superbowl halftime (59,679) (59,693)
by Marissa from USA

I'm one of those people who doesn't think that Mariah's body of work suits halftime. Also, I think you have to be extremely comfortable performing and dancing (not just singing) to pull it off. I think she's stepping up her performances in Vegas, but we all know that televised performances can fall a little flat for her. But if she ever did, I love Mimi L. 's suggestion of the Honey and Heartbreaker remix.

Superbowl ideas (59,692)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

|

So I was thinking if Mariah was to headline the Superbowl, who would you want her to bring out and what songs would you like her to perform? I think as much as we love her ballads, making the whole show a ballad moment would bore people so we need some upbeat songs too. I don't know what I want yet (hence I want to hear other people's thoughts). But for now I guess I would love for her to bring out Jay-Z and Puffy and do a Heartbreaker-Honey remix mashup. And then bring out the Bieber and maybe do a WBT and "Sorry" mashup (since they are of the same theme). Or do a "Shake It off" and "Love Yourself" mashup (with a bit off, "My mama don't like you but she likes everyone, shake shake shake it off" haha, too much?). It would also be great for her to bring out a current female artist. Also spare me the "Mariah should never perform at the superbowl" or "Mariah is not super bowl's type" posts. It's just for fun darlings.

I listened to the song when you posted it and thought it was great. But maybe I over-listened to it as the hook started to irritate me. Or maybe I'm just a miserable bastard. It is good though. I'm surprised she let somebody sample her. It's rare and unusual. Especially given it's her most famous hook. I can't think of a better known one. Incidentally, I've been watching out for your tattoo programme. Post a link, fam, innit.

Yes definitely I want the brown hair back, I think blonde makes her look older, plus we might feel like having 90s Mariah back, the 20 year old one.

Agree Maxwell could work really well with Mariah, I would also like to hear her do a full blown duet with Will Downing or BeBe Winans. Actually thinking about it a duets album at some point would be nice (rappers don't count lol).

And you think making even more of a circus out of her personal life will buy her new fans? Or will it lead to further dwindling record sales? Gee, I wonder what the historical precedent is, here.

You are exactly like many commentators on here, in fact, probably the worst one. You read a post or an article then make it about something other than what it actually is. Sometimes I wonder what arguments some people on here think they are winning.

Oh, I have always been wanting for that to happen. Maxwell is such a great singer and so hot, haha. Babyface is alright, but Maxwell has such a spark, a flare that is so unique, lot of soul. I definitely can see him doing something with Mariah that would sound truly great.

"Does Stella do Mariah's make up?" Haha the shade (all caps), I can't. Stella is getting a beauty blender as a gift from me if she continues to remain non-blended in the contour department. I agree by the way, about the eye makeup. She looks way better with lesser makeup.

Yes I feel like the brown hair would just change up her look a lot without having to make a major change. I also agree about the eyebrows. Sometimes they don't get it right.

I love that you posted this. When you mentioned that it "almost" made you cry, I didn't believe it. But once I followed the link, I lost all control. I am going through quite a bit of things, at this time in my life, and to hear this interlude, is just so moving to me. I think of where I was when this album came to be (at the time, just as moving), and I think of where I am now. This video did move me in many ways. It makes me feel like I can make it out of my trials and tribulations today, just as I did back then. Just another realization of how her music can really touches your soul. Thank you.

The gold dress (59,676)

Is so beautiful and very divaish. Whoever made it deserves an A plus for giving Mariah something nice wear. No shade but I think we can all agree that it's been awhile since we last saw Mariah wear something so gorgeous. She definitely could wear it at an award show or on the red carpet. She would look even better with the brown hair color and less eye make up. Does Stella do Mariah's make up?

Article: What wedding dress will Mariah Carey wear? (59,674)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Oh Lord, the second and third dresses are divine. I can picture Mariah looking like a goddess that she is in both of them. She can go for the Acra one for the main ceremony and then change into the Lhuillier one for the reception. Plus no straight hair, we want big voluminous curls dahlin'.

I would love to see Mariah with that color hair again Mimi L. The blonde is ok, but it's repetitive and we have seen this in so many eras so far. It's a new time in her life and a new era, a new time she should want to let stand out in photos. I love that she is looking so much like TEOM era, but she should want to be different now and be able to look at a photo and say this is my Engagement Era. She is beyond beautiful and can pull anything off, her face is ageless and now of all times she should change it up a little. She looks so exotic and beautiful with darker hair, and I wish they would fill her brows in a little more too. It brings out her beauty. Ok, I'm done with my tangent now, said in MC's voice.

We don't really know if Beyonce is actually one of Mariah's friends. I mean I know there was that one time where they were seen together at New Years Eve. But do they really talk on the phone or hang out? Has Beyonce gone to see Mariah in Vegas? Mariah didn't even know "Drunk in love" lol.

You know I didn't really care for the song, but I liked the video. What I Ioved even better is the whole roll out. You heard murmurs here and there but nothing confirmed and she stayed silent. Then out of nowhere the song and video are out at the same time out of nowhere. Then the next day she performs the song on the Superbowl halftime show in front of millions of people. Smart. Mariah needs a roll out like this on the next single, the song just needs to be hot.

That's what I love about Mariah. There are many other singers who have excellent vocal capabilities, but most of the time I find myself simply impressed by their technique. That's it. With Mariah though, not only does she possess a rare instrument, but she has a way of speaking to you. Her songs go beyond the ears and reach the heart. Maybe it has something to do with her writing her own lyrics and composing her own melodies. But it's a rare gift that I've found only Mariah can do, at least for me.
