Happiest day of my working life (57,849)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
So I work in PR (public relations) and one of my clients is a home furnishings department store. I suggested to them that they should do a staff Christmas singalong video for social media, and after putting a proposal and some costs together the client has agreed. Which song will I be using? None other than All I Want For Christmas Is You. I'll be filming next week, and the finished video will go live on December 11th, I can't wait to share it with you all.

Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed my Come Dine With Me episode. I was also on Channel 4's Tattoo Fixers (getting a Deirdre Barlow tattoo) and I name-dropped Mariah. If every you're bored enough to watch it, it's on my website which is in my bio. Shameless self promotion.

Throwback pictures (57,847)
by Manny from U.S.
| |
|
|
I was thinking of the throwback pictures posted on Mariah's social media accounts. I wonder of its just a "survey", in a subtle way. Stella might be seeing which ones are more popular. She might check which "Mariah" people like. People start commenting things like "this was my fav era, she released Butterfly" or similar things. They will go from there and Mariah will write music inspired from that era for next album. It's just a theory. I listen to "Elusive Chanteuse". It's one of favorite albums. It'll be awesome if she performs songs from that album someday.

Re: Latin press (57,816) (57,846)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

Darling Nikki, of course you would be one of the ones who actually reads and interprets the written word as it was meant. You might as well have read my mind with your breakdown of my initial Latin press post. So thanks lamb. About MiMi's networth of $520M or whatever, that's just a rough estimate of how much money she'd have at her disposal today, if she liquidated all her assets all in one go: properties, art, publishing, fine jewlery, masters, vehicles, awards, brands etc. The same goes for anyone's networth. From the average Joe to James Packer. It's the same reason why you always insure your posseions in as high a price range as possible because every little thing you buy and put in your house adds up. That way you don't screw yourself out of getting back whatever amount it would take to restore your property to it's full value after a flood, fire or natural disasters. And when it comes to the 90's? That was Mariah Carey's decade, we all know it. Madonna didn't even manage a single #1 album that entire time. Ask Billboard. So People magazine was blatantly wrong. But what else is new? The press at large are always trying to make Mariah's success and ecliptic impact seem less than it was and still is. It's time us lambily started calling our individual country's press out when they get Mariah wrong. It's obviously been affecting her marketability negatively that her brand is being watered down for the benefit of Madonna, JLo and the like. If you're not a lamb that obviously wrong apply to you.

Social media narcissism (57,843)
by Jono from USA
| |
|
|
Firstly, Mariah did post on Twitter/Instagram about Pray For Paris. Secondly, I don't understand how if Mariah hadn't post something about the tragedy, that she's not thinking about it. We've become so brainwashed in to thinking that social media dictates our lives. Just because someone doesn't post something online for the whole world to see and like and comment, doesn't mean that person isn't thinking about it or doing any means to help in their personal life. This is what I hate about the generation - we're treating this online persona we all create for ourselves as reality. It's not. Yes technological advances have allowed us to connect with people across the world, but it has also created the greatest distance between those that are nearest to us. It's shallow and vapid that's spur of the moment and immediately forgotten the next day. Actions speak louder than words. Mariah is one of the most charitable celebrities but you don't hear about it because she doesn't run around making the cause about her. Lastly, as much as my heart and prayers go out to the victims in Paris, we also must confront how we deal with tragedy in this modern age. Sure, changing your Facebook profile to the French flag shows solidarity, but in reality it does nothing in the long run for the friends and family that were directly affected by this horrendous act.

It's clearly a post from Stella. MC would have written a little more IMO. Anyway, let her be glamorous and eternally 12.

I don't. I keep meaning to look to buy it but never get round to it, kinda why I wish it was on iTunes since that makes everything more accessible. I will one day haha. My birthday is soon so perhaps I can hint it for a present.

But don't you already have it? Besides, M said she owns the master rights to it. Meaning, it's probably not part of any of her record deals and therefore not tied to either IDJ or Sony. Ugh, I had to delete a whole paragraph because I might accidentally have speculated myself into legalities that wouldn't be entirely in Mariah's favour. Other than that, I agree, Glitter is an underrated album and it's partly because it's not available almost anywhere anymore. I bet Mariah has plans for it though. *cough* Broadway musical. *cough*

I come from France too (I actually live in Paris, in the 10th arrondissement), and I was really disappointed Mariah didn't react to what happened. Especially since she came to Paris this summer.

I love that album. It's always annoyed me how it isn't on iTunes or Spotify but I guess that's due to Mariah's distaste for everything to do with that.

Don't think she isn't thinking of this tragedy though. Paris is a wonderful place and it's obvious she enjoys going there so you can be sure she is thinking and praying for the peace this world needs. She's busy with kids hence the reason she has Stella, so I wouldn't take it personally. I've been listening to There's Got To Be A Way a lot and it couldn't be more relevant. All the best.

I would definitely want to hear Mariah sing "Vanishing". With her current voice she could do it. I'm still impressed on how well she did with "I don't want to cry" and "Thank God I found you" in Vegas.

Re: Paris (57,817) (57,826)

Well, I'm from France and still in shock since this horrible Friday evening. I was thankful to see messages from Rachel, B. Scott, Shawn (and even Kristofer?) but nothing from MC. Stella only posted a picture of her in Chicago but not mentioning Paris. Ok. Yesterday, I hoped MC would send her prayers or tell a little something for French people but still nothing, instead of that only a message for pre-ordered tickets, but I'm sure Stella posted it. This morning, Stella posted a picture for Paris on her personal account so I decided to write under it a text telling her I would be so thankful if Mariah could have written a little something for Paris. This afternoon, what a surprise to see that my message was simply deleted. Now, I've just seen the post from Mariah with a hastag #PrayersforParis. Let be honest, it is not MC's post, she would have write a little more in my opinion. I know there is a lot more drama in this world but still I am a litle disappointed. Sorry for my bad English guys.

The Glitter soundtrack was ahead of its time. It's an introspective concept album that is now consider one of Mariah's best. If We, Lead The Way, and Never Too Far are my favorites from the album (soundtrack).
