Memoirs (56,988)
by LC from USA
| |
|
|
Happy anniversary to Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel. The first album I listened to in full as a lamb. It still has some of my favorite songs by Mariah as they were all attached to a memory for me. Shout out to Obsessed, Standing O, IWTKWLI, It's A Wrap, Betcha Gon' Know, Angels Cry, UOMF, and Candy Bling. I love that album to death.

*tips cap* I did, a few weeks ago, post a message which read something like this: "Tell me, Baby, from whatever land you're from, have you ever visited the planet Earth?" I don't recall it getting posted. If it did then I apologise. An oversight. My last message to allow other people to post and to back off and allow them free voice to talk didn't seem to work. Many people visit this and don't get a voice because they're afraid. Perhaps of me, also. If I can tone it down, perhaps other people can. But there is shouting down and insulting and actual lunacy in some recent posts. Well, look what has happened. 50 plus likes for your message. They're there. They're just not posting. Defensiveness and accusations of prejudice (the guilty silencer?) abound. My cap is tipped. I miss your posts, mate. Post more often. I'd like to jump on the site and see them.

Band Intro (56,986)
by NYHotShotta from USA

So I've been watching Mariah's band introductions from the CB tour and they are amazing. Mariah and her backup singers sound great, she should do this again. Some of my favorites: Japan (Mariah and her singers 1:08-1:40 and Mariah 2:43-3:15 and Mariah introducing her singers 3:50-5:30 ), NY (Mariah 1:25-1:28 and Taketha Johnson 3:50-3:58), Switzerland (Mariah 0:49-1:11 and Taketha Johnson 3:50-4:05), LA (Mariah 0:35-0:51 and Taketha Johnson 3:50-04:00), San Jose (Taketha Johnson 41:15-41:30 and Maryann Tatum 45:28-45:45), Atlantic City (Mariah 1:40-1:50), Chicago (Mariah 55:00-55:20 and Taketha Johnson 57:45-58:05), South Korea (Mariah 0:25-0:35), Germany (Sherry Tatum 51:01-51:15).

Deedre, there are not rules on this messageboard about not discussing other artists. To my understanding you haven't spoken ill of Mariah or Madonna, so you don't have to feel like you need to apologize. Madonna has said bad things about Mariah, Mariah has done the same even if it was as a response, but we can clearly see they've both moved on from that. Mariah has praised Madonna, she did it the day she performed at the Grammy Awards on 2006, and it came as very sincere to me. So if she moved on, why can't we move on instead of acting like "mean teenagers"? We've all done/said things we later regretted, but that doesn't necessarily determine the people that we are now. I used to love 90's Madonna, but I personally don't feel her music now. We can't deny her hard work and the fact that she helped paved the way for other women to be more open and accepted without prejudice. She would say and do many of the things people wanted to to say or do but didn't dare. Mariah has paved the way for this new generation of, not only female vocalists, but many male ones too. She cooked something she'll always be remembered for 200 years from now, a Christmas classic that's going to last even after all of us have passed. I've been introduced to many great artists here on this board that I didn't know anything about, so I don't see why in a respectful way the name of other artists can't be brought up here. Mariah and Madonna are older women with children now, I'm pretty sure they're not the same people they were 20 years ago.

I know. I remember that. I'm actually thrilled that it's going to be sparkly. I really can't wait. I love champagne/ tan/ golden/ brown shades, I always feel I have found the perfect one, until I find the next shade that it looks almost similar, probably one shade lighter or darker haha. Shimmer just makes it all the most amazing. I wasn't very happy with the nail polish from OPI because I personally don't think it's a great brand even when it's very popular, it has great pigmentation in one application but it doesn't last very long and the nail polish gets very lumpy with the time so you got to add other soft solvents. I like the Maybelline line "Color Show" and Sally Hansen line "Diamond". I would really like if Mariah launched some new nail polishes with Maybelline. But right now, I'm utterly happy with the upcoming MAC stuff. I wouldn't mind a new perfume (available to Europe as well, unlike "Dreams" which I can't even get from the UK as an imported to the country). So far M is still my very favorite one, it lasts forever. And the Lollipops I don't find them very appealing except for "Mine Again", they don't last very long at all and have poor silage. I also enjoyed for some time "Forever", I mostly bought it because I love anything from the 20s and the bottle looked just like the art from the time. Keep up those good vibes.

Told you. The edgy jackets, casual ensembles (jeans), and the edgy leather jackets and now the champagne lipstick. I love chapstick and lip balm I just might buy a tube of Mariah's lipstick. The comeback is in full force. She needs to open a tree lighting ceremony with a killer performance of All I Want For Christmas Is You and redeem herself.

I think this is being blown out of proportion. This is a messageboard where you share your opinions. Everyone has one, why start arguments because your opinions differs from theirs and name calling because you see things differently? I take everyone's opinions into consideration except the newly [censored] commenter that accused me of being Issac. Let's love each other and accept each other. Mariah and Mac are launching a champagne lipstick just in time for Christmas.

To me you can post whatever you want to post. We've always gotten along (at least to my mind). If the discussion of Madonna offended you, that wasn't my intention. I'm a very the glass is always half full type person. I'm optimistic and I see the gifts that people offer. Do you believe that things can change over time? Because that's really the only point I was making. Do you believe that things can be said and taken out of context? I do. Have you ever said something completely ridiculous and rebellious because you were pissed or because you wanted a reaction? To be dramatic? "No one would miss me if I died tomorrow." Maybe in your view I've already been dismissed as a "goat" for discussing "whitewash" as you have coined. All I can say is I'm L4L who enjoys Janet, Madonna, Beyonce, Celine, Whitney, Selena even Britney as well as many other artists.

Mariah, reveal yourself this instant (56,975)

Months back I was begging Mariah (through MCA ofcourse) to collaborate with MAC and release a cosmetics line. Shelly also joined in and we discussed packaging ideas and how cool it would be if it's gold. Well guess what? Mariah is collaborating with MAC for a lipstick called "All I want" coming this December and also a beauty line for 2016 Mariah X MAC beauty icon. I am excited. *high pitched noise* I love you Mariah.

Yeah, supposedly I'm the big bad wolf around here a.k.a. the all-purpose bully. Meanwhile, Madonna is having a historical whitewashing revival in every other post, two pages deep. The same woman who at one point said Mariah wasn't particularly bright (probably for turning down an appearance in her desperate coffee table "Sex" book ) and that she would commit suicide if she were Mariah Carey. (I'm paraphrasing, but whatever.) [censored] Well, that was a lie. I don't wonder at all. [censored] Sadly, it never fails. Here is the clip with the reference quote from Madonna: "I'd rather kill myself than be Mariah Carey." This is the person you decide to bring on this board as an example of, well, hell if I know. But I'm the one who's the bully, right? Right.

Haha, you can use the forbidden term freely because you're not one of the fans who over uses it. I'm pretty sure Mariah has said a long, long time ago that the reason she wasn't allowed to be called "Mariah" was because of Madonna. I think I read that in Chris Nickson's biography but I can't be too sure now. I love you too Mimi L.

Seriously (56,964)
by Lee TS from USA

I think Mariah was just feeling nostalgic with the JD post, how are you going to turn a festive moment into something so nasty? And when she takes her kid to a fun Broadway show, one gets excited that she might get on the stage herself. Like seriously take it for what it is at face value, like her videos, it ain't that deep. About Madonna, the one other time I can remember Mariah saying something nice was during the 2006 Grammy's when she called Madonna a legend. And the only time I can remember Madonna saying anything nice was when she said she liked the Mimi record. Both legends, no if's or and's about it.

Haha don't worry I understood your post either ways. I agree with you and I also think that they are both past what happened back in the day. I also got the feeling that Mariah was talking about Madonna when she was talking about the artist who uses just their first name. But like she said she didn't want people to take it the wrong way. This is exactly what the problem is, people seem to take everything she says as a diss. This is why during the interview when she said "I have no problem with Gaga" and the reporter said "okay" she was like "Why, is there a problem I don't know about? People make things up." Shows that even Mariah knows that her innocent remarks are sometimes twisted by others and dubbed a diss. (At this point I am scared to use the word "shade" because I feel like Bill will get angry. Sorry Bill, I love you.) A lot of these feuds between celebrities are caused by quotes being taken out of context and reporters twisting things to increase subscriptions.

Edward, thank you so much for the kind words. I often wonder why you and some other previously regular members on this board don't post as much nowadays. I really enjoy reading your posts too. See I'm all for different opinions because that's what makes the board interesting but I absolutely hate it that some people on this board think it's fine to bully others and call them names. If they have good points and if they are so intelligent then make that point respectfully, don't call me an "idiot" and "obtuse". That is not acceptable to me. Also suddenly everything here has suddenly become a conspiracy thriller. We can't say anything without it being dubbed a "conspiracy to ruin Mariah's image/career". Anyways, I just gotta shake it off. However, I do hope to see more posts from you and others who were regular on this board. The bullies shouldn't drive away true fans. Thanks again and sending you some love.
