Mimi L. And Katy Perry shade (55,376) by LC from USA
Mimi L., I don't think that the shade to which people refer is from her song reference. In fact, I think it's a nice gesture to name drop Mariah in her song. People are referring to this video in which Katy is being interviewed in Australia, and the the interviewer asks her who she thinks is the biggest female star in the world. She then says Beyoncé, but the interviewers bring up that a twitter user said Mariah Carey was the biggest female star in the world, which they doubt, and to which Katy responds "Mariah is fabulous for a throwback. Fabulous." She then goes on to say how she loves Fantasy, Honey, and One Sweet Day and how she sang Mariah's music growing up. However, the "throwback" thing was pretty uncalled for, in my opinion, as we know that the implications of that are that Mariah is only good for the past and is not relevant in the present. And that's what people see as shade. I don't blame them for it. But, she has also said Mariah was an influence of hers, and credited her with inspiring songs on her recent album. Obviously "This is How We Do" references her, but she says "Birthday" was inspired by Mariah's 90s music, and her duet with John Mayer was inspired by Mariah's laugh at the end of "Emotions". So, mixed signals, but I believe that at the end of the day, Katy respects Mariah and is a fan. I mean, she did call herself a part of the "lambily for life".

I think sometimes Mariah forgets TGIFY was a number one. Lol. It's a good song though.

It's my personal opinion. And I know there are a lot of other people who agree. Katy's voice is not "beautiful" or "powerful" lol. Her music is [censored] with those [censored] lyrics. The only singers of today who can really sing and sound powerful in my opinion are Adele and Beyonce. Mariah too of course.

Favorite artists besides Mariah (55,371) by Licia from USA
Since I love music my list is rather long. I'll try to shorten my list to a few hundred. Lol I love Toni Braxton, Babyface, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Prince, Patti Labell, Aretha Franklin, Kelly Clarkson, Avant, Aaliyah, Adel, Lady Gaga, Tamia, R. Kelly, and so many more I can't think of. I haven't even named my favorite groups. Lol.

Lol (55,370) by Licia from USA
I've been very vocal about Nick's wrongs as well. You are just choosing to focus on this one time I called her out. Let me go ahead and end this so you can stop having a fit. Saint Mariah is always good. Nick bad. Moving on. Lol.

If the Chrissy Lou's fits, then step in them (55,369) by Mirage_Nunez from America
If wrong is wrong then how come Nick's wrongs are glossed over, but Mariah's wrongs leads to resentful post that often end with a (in reference to her and the fans that have her back). By all means voice your opinion when Mariah is wrong and be critical constructively, but also be fair and have her back when she's right. I'm just saying it's very "team-Nick" to give him all types of benefits of a doubt "we don't know for a fact that he cheated or not". Okay and we also don't know if Mariah asked him if he wanted to keep the kids while she was in Australia and he said "I can't I'm booked." That's my point.

Ardis re: other artists (55,368) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
Nice topic. I too love Lana Del Rey. She's like my favourite current artist (when I say this I mean other than MC because she's my favourite artist ever, period). Her melodies, lyrics and vocals are so haunting, I think she has incredible talent and is doing something so different to everything else out there. Also listened to MC singing TGIFY at Las Vegas and it was another wow moment for me. Just so thrilling and relaxing, I felt like I was in an upmarket New York jazz club. Simply divine.

Rampant haters (55,367) by Natalia from Italy
I feel that I need to speak on the statement that was made that Katy Perry "can't sing worth a damn". That is so false. She actaully has a very good voice. Just because someone does not have the same impressive vocal range that Mariah has, does not mean that everyone else who is not up to the same standard can not sing. That is just insane to believe that way. This video of Katy singing live is beautiful, her voice is powerful, crisp and clean. All I am saying is, there is no need for the hate. Especially if that person is showing love to Mariah.

SC, she's mixed Someday up with the song "I Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg" by TLC. They go great together. LC, thank you for sharing that TGIFY performance, it was incredible.

Mariah (55,365) by Giovanni from USA
Mariah looks great in that picture with the chick who can't sing. Love the hair and dress. She looks a little thinner. But then again it could just be because she's in black or because of the camera angle. Either way she looks stunning.

Mimi L. (55,364) by Giovanni from USA
Funny, I seem to recall you disliking Katy which is okay because I don't. Girlfriend can't sing worth a damn. But now that Katy went to one of Mariah's shows you're all praising her. I suppose you'd like them to record together as well, lol.

Nick used Mariah. He's still using Mariah to promote WildNOut. The latest promo features a rapper saying Mariah left him because she took him for a joke.

Katy (55,361) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am happy to see Katy taking out time to watch Mariah's show. I think the whole "shade" was just made up as I did not find anything wrong in the Mariah reference in her song. We all suck at Mariah karaokes. She has been a fan and she did say some of her songs were inspired by Mariah's work. Anyways, what surprises me more is that Katy went but people who always claim that Mariah is the reason they started singing couldn't get the time to catch one of her shows yet. I'm looking at you Beyonce and Rihanna. Plus I hope MC and Britney goes to each others' shows. Also I think it's so cute that Katy considers herself to be a lamb and not just a "fan" since she labelled her picture with the #1 To Infinity poster with the caption "lambily for life". That's quite nice coming from someone who is a big name in the current music scene.

Mariah in Cannes (55,360) by Tijl from Belgium
This is so exciting. A former colleague of mine works as an assistant manager for a very profilic luxury brand in Cannes. A few weeks ago, when Mariah was cruising along the Cote d'Azur, she walked into the store where my friend works. She was in the company of two men, which one of them being Christopher Buckle (according to my friends description ). My friend told Mariah was very polite and very sweet with the softest and warmest voice imagineable. She wore a long Cavalli dress and very high heels. She picked out some items for her new beau. She was very apologetic towards my friend for giving her so much to do. Sweet . One of the men paid and they left very quietly.

Your other favorite artists? (55,359) by Ardis Logic from Earth
We all love Mariah here... at least I hope so. I was just curious to know, besides Mariah, what other artists are you all into? I am not really into any of the modern music out there, but my guilty pleasure is listening to Lana Del Rey. I like her songs Video Games, Blue Jeans, Burning Desire and others. She just has this dark, sexy vibe about her that I can relate with and I find very intriguing. What about you?

Mariah's third vocal prime (55,357) by LC from USA
Wow. All I can say is wow. I have not been this happy to be a Mariah fan in so long. After all the hoopla and criticism she's faced in the past few years over her supposed decline, Mariah has really used this Vegas residency to destroy our doubts and prove that she is still, without a doubt, the greatest singer in the world. From what I've heard, last night's show was her greatest vocal night since the Charmbracelet tour. She has her fluidity back in her belting, as well the stamina and ease she had 12 years ago, and her resonance is out of this world. Not to mention that on certain performances, she was able to match her studio vocals, and sound almost the same. I encourage all of you to visit this channel to listen to her. The audio captured is very high quality and Mariah's voice is indescribable. Some highlights are Vision Of Love, My All, One Sweet Day, and of course, this video of Thank God I Found You. She even sang a little bit of Bliss and Rainbow (Interlude) in this one. This video just proves that you can never doubt Mariah Carey. When she's down, she'll come back swinging harder than ever. Congratulations, Mariah. You have truly redeemed yourself as the greatest vocalist if all time.

Harper's Bazaar (55,356) by LC from USA
For those of us who were wondering why Mariah was in Paris and the fate of the whole photo shoot she did there, it turns out that she will be featured in the annual "Icons" issue of Harper's Bazaar, which will be released on September 16. Apparently, there will be a launch event at The Plaza Hotel in New York to reveal the issue and to start off New York's Fashion Week. You can read more here.

Wrong is wrong (55,355) by Licia from USA
I don't have a foul attitude towards Mariah. I saw something that she did that I felt was wrong and I spoke on it. I didn't make her look bad, she did that by herself. Being a fan of her music doesn't mean I can't voice my opinion when I feel she's wrong.

Interesting (55,354) by Kyle from USA
I was surprised to see Katy Perry at the MC concert. I guess whatever "shade" was thrown has been reconciled. Glad to see they can put it behind them whatever the issue may have been. I'm thrilled all these singers are going to support MC. It's a testament to her legacy. SC, the "Someday" version incorporated TLC's "Ain't To Proud To Beg".

Question (55,353) by SC from USA
Hi guys, quick question. Do you know which remix Mariah sings for the song "Someday" during her Vegas show? I noticed that it's some sort of old school beat that is a good reinvention for the Someday song. Similar to the Dreamlover part of the show when she adds the beat from "Juicy" from Notorious B.I.G.. I would love to know which beat is used for Someday as I love it. Thanks.

Why not a drive by mommy? (55,352) by Lee TS from USA
I mean, if Nick wanted to change his ways and not work or to take it easy, he can ask for full costody of the kids. Then he can stay collecting blank checks from his baby momma ex. He can spend quality time raising the kids and all that good stuff. Mariah can pick them up every other weekend and bring them to Disneyland. And we would get more Mariah, she can stay busy creating music for us. She doesn't have to be a full time mommy, breaking all traditions and become a modern mom. Oh and that would guarantee more time to yacht it up with Packer. Nick may be a bad husband to Mariah but that doesn't mean he's a bad father. They are both to blame for their marriage falling apart, I'm sure Mariah has her moments too. They had their moment in time and I'm sure they were once truly in love with each other. They both have already won with Dembabies. Let's celebrate that and wish them both well.

One last thing (55,350) by Mirage_Nunez from America
I just find it interesting how some individuals have developed such a foul attitude towards Mariah just in general. They would choose anybody's side over Mariah's (whether that person wronged Mariah or not). That's so funny to me how someone can come on here and defend Nick's (or anybody else's) honor over Mariah's and would rather turn it around to make Mariah look bad in the situation. Mind boggling. Anyway I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't trying to call Nick a "dead beat" daddy. I jokingly called him a "drive by daddy" (not to be mistaken with dead beat daddy), which pretty much means he comes pick the kids up on the weekends (or whatever), take them to the park, get some ice cream or what have you and then drop them back off at momma's by sundown or when the weekend's over. Which is not necessarily horrible, I'm actually really relieved and very glad when I do see him with the kids. I was just making the point that we mostly see them with Mariah (which is generally typical for kids to be closer or live with their mothers). I'm just saying seems like they don't live with Nick, or like he would have them for long periods of time like Mariah does, his time with them comes across as he's visiting them. Anyway I just want to put it out there that I'm actually rooting for Nick as a father and also continuing to co parent peacefully with Mimi.

Instead of (55,349) by Licia from USA
Sony re-releasing the Merry Christmas album I'd rather them do a dvd of the Beacon Theater shows (or Vegas) or even just a live album of those shows. Doesn't that make more sense? Right about now I'd even take a compilation of unreleased songs. I'm in need of something new. Something like those would hold me over until they decide whether they will do a new album.
