It's nice to see people cover rare songs. This guy did a nice job and give his own little twist on some of the notes.

What an unexpected deal this is. I think MC will be way hotter then Kate Upton. I'm sure the pics will be "hot tamale". Can't wait to see the commercial.

Shelly, I know you didn’t ask me but I figured you might be interested in this clip. Mariah was asked that very question by Larry King during the Charmbracelet era. It's one of my favorite interviews from the post Glitter/breakdown Mimi. If anyone hasn’t seen it I suggest that they should. Mariah is intelligent, poised, introspective, honest, elaborate yet concise and shady. This is a perfect example of the type of interviews she should do now that she is in another “thunder precedes the sunlight” era.

This is so random and totally out of left field. If she's gonna do a commercial I hope she looks her best. From what I can tell, Kate Upton is selling sex to the geeks and gamers of the land. Mariah's going to need to get her body right and snatched with the boobs being large and in charge. Maybe she'll even play some sort of butterfly character. Don't know about this lambs, so random if true. But hey, get your coins girl.

Me I Am Mariah - a retrospective album (54,601)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
If you all think about it, there is a reason why it was called Me I Am Mariah. The album was a musical retrospect of all her previous work wrapped up into one album. I remember all the suggestions that were posted at the time were all asking her to look to her past work and replicate it whether it was the pop sound of the 90s or the contemporary r&b and late seventies soul sound of TEOM. If you look at each song individually, you can pull each one from one or several eras. I believe she was looking to show her versatility and insane ability to put all these different tracks together in one album and sequence it in a way that made them all flow smoothly. She was able to sound contemporary without seeming desperate for a hit and the songs were mature enough to stand the test of time without sounding too dated. Here is my breakdown: Cry - Classic Mariah first two albums Faded - Contemporary R&B-Memoirs Dedicated - Fantasy remix Daydream rnb Hip Hop sampling ala The Roof Butterfly era Beautiful - Pop/Soul Dreamlover Music Box era Thirsty - ILT Migrate TEOM and E=MC2 era Make It Look Good - Throwback r&b/Soul sample Stay The Night It’s A Wrap TEOM Memoirs eras You’re Mine - WBT I Stay In Love Angel’s Cry last three eras YDKWTD - Emotions Unplugged You’re So Cold I’m That Chick Emotions E=MC2 eras Supernatural - Contemporary R&B E=MC2 era Meteorite - Daydream Interlude Fly Away Reprise all of her Morales remixes mid to late 90s eras Camouflage - Petals Rainbow era Money - The only song I believe was a slight departure/new sound for her. The blaring horns. Whisper vocals on the hook, full voice/mid range on the verses, then some jazz inspired vocals towards the end One More Try - Any album with a famous cover Heavenly - My Saving Grace Fly Like A Bird Charmbracelet TEOM eras

Mariah's tweet/Instagram on #MC25 with a letter to the Lambily (54,600)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

After waiting my whole life to see my name on an album ("LP"), the label let me know that they'll only be making CDs from 1990 onward. Total devastation. In their defense, they were nice enough to print a few vinyls and gave me some. Listening to it today, not every song is a favorite, but there are some songs that are still special to me, like "Vision of Love" which was on my demo. And even some obscure ones like "Sent From Up Above” and "Alone In Love”, which I started writing on my mom's piano when I was 15 years old. Then there’s "Vanishing” which so many fans tell me is their favorite song of mine. Those songs make me feel nostalgic and proud of that young girl who had so much ambition and passion for music. I still do, maybe even more. I will never let go of that. Thank you so much to all my fans, those who were here from the very beginning and those who have joined this lambily of mine along the way. I love you more than words can express, and I thank you for letting me feel this connection to you through my music. I hope you stay with me on this journey for years to come. MC. This is my second attempt at posting Mariah's full message to us. The first one didn't work out at all but whatever. Happy 25th Mariah Carey and many more.

"How lovely to see so much judgment being tossed around in this board. Mariah is fat in here, Mariah doesn't look good in that dress. And, amazingly, so much expertise being shared. Mariah needs to do this, Mariah needs to stop doing that. Mariah is indeed lucky." And she apparently listens to them. Well she doesn't at all but let's pretend like Mariah didn't say just a few weeks ago that she doesn't pay attention to negativity, kind of her trademark personality trait. If anything, she probably does the total opposite of what most people think she should do. Which is her right as an individual, an independent woman and free spirit. It's not like following her instincts haven't paid off when even the free throw off life gifted her the precious Dem Babies. Tell her she needs a 7 year break and she breaks the internet. These April to April fools are quite amusing. When is the last time their strategies actually worked? You can't catch a Honey B. Fly with vinegar. Anyway, thanks for your post Bino, God bless.

Let's celebrate with a list of things MC hasn't done before. 1. Vision of a beauty brand endorsement, knock on Elizabeth Arden's red door, why don't you? Or, better yet, start your own brand: 500 aowez of beauty tools 2. There's got to be a way for M to get voiceover work in animated films. It's not like she doesn't have an arsenal of characters in her throat or anything. 3. I don't wanna cry because my hair is in knots. Where is a hair care line? 4. Someday soon she should be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. That'll make it a lot easier for her to get her four in the should at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame that is notoriously snobby. 5. My uncle Vanishing, or some other classic stage play, musical original play. ThespianRiah. 6. All in your music box. I want one that plays Mariah songs and we get to chose any song from your discography. 7. Alone in writing and producing a whole song. Dare I wish for a whole album? Sometimes Mariah's generosity in sharing writing credit has helped erode the perception of her as the genius songwriter she really is. 8. You need Mimi to write and sing the Team USA Olympic theme or the next FIFA Worldcup song. 9. Sent from app above: Mariah Careyoke etc etc. 10. Prisimer: Where are the exclusive Lambily jewels designed by MC? Like charmbracelets in real gold and silver. Think quality, not quantity. 11. Love takes too much time. Mariah, hook us up. An international dating service for the Lambily? Make it happen.

Shelly (looking out) (54,593)
by Andrew from UK

I think Gospel or Standards are a great sound but I think Mariah could incorporate them into a new sound of hers later on, not do it as a stop gap. I think music artists record their best work when they disappear and come back with a cathartic outpouring, and create songs of experience. I keep thinking of Madonna's Ray Of Light. Everyone counted Madonna out. She all but disappeared. She was middle of the road for 5 years and forgettable. But we all know that album as being a shock and of a time in our lives. Mariah has been hit-maker and never left her formula much, even though it's not winning anyone over anymore. And the sob story songs (don't get me wrong I sing them all the time) aren't washing with people anymore. It must be really hard to let go. And a little scary. But then it's never easy. I think she can do it. What sound it should be I have no idea. I'm not musically creative. But I do buy music and watch the trends like everyone else. Let her comeback (and that's what it has to be) be unique and born of a reinvention. If she just has the balls to try it, I will never complain again. So, I guess, the idea is: instead of looking in, I would say Mariah needs to start looking out. And, in a way, I'll work on that, myself.

Adam, mate, I'm always on point. You people just be all Tea. (Yeah, I don't know what it means, so I just use it in random places now to confuse people.) The previous post is pretty much what I've been advising in semi-loud tones from the rooftops for two years, amongst the ravings. Actually, I just said it differently. I will add this: if she doesn't go away and reinvent herself, she should retire. It's only going to go one way, otherwise. But like I said, I considered just giving her up a couple of days ago after the posts on here. I questioned whether I would, in this small corner of my life, be happier. But I'm not giving up on her. As an aside, to everyone else, play, or just read and hear, MIAM in this order, and ask yourself what other Mariah album it reminds you of: 1. Meteorite 2. The Art of Letting Go 3. Beautiful 4. Cry. 5. You Don't Know What To Do 6. Make It Look Good 7. Money (S * /. . . ) 8. Dedicated 9. One More Try 10. Heavenly (No Way's Tired/ Can't Give Up Now) Answers on a postcard.

This "Game of War" announcement is genius. Once again, Mariah Carey knocks us out of left field with something no one would have ever expected. This will connect her to a whole new audience and get her music in people's face. Mariah is a determined person which is why I respect her so much. She refuses to "drop off the radar". I say kudos.

You all have refreshed my morning with these insightful posts. Now I finally understand the reason I haven't listened to the MIAM since the month it came out. It was a good album, but I felt like I'd heard it all before. The only song that impressed me with it's deviation from the formula was Meteorite. Everything else felt like a part 2 to all of her other past hits. Mariah needs to trust that she can succeed outside of her comfort zone. Look what a gem of an album Butterfly was which was very different from her 90-95 formula. Even songs like #Beautiful and Meteorite were successful attempts at stepping outside of the box musically. Also, I hope that this Game Of War deal is true. I like it for the simple fact that it's unexpected for Mariah to do. This is also a very unique and effective way to expose her to the younger generation. I'm very excited.

New direction (54,585)
by George Golden from UK
| |
|
|
Mariah needs a new direction. Why is she still doing these kind of juvenile stuff? She can be amazing if she wants to but she is still bent on doing hip hop rnb and that has been her downfall. People don't care to look for her album once the first single is released because it's usually a hip hop sound so they just conclude it's full of hip hop. Why is she been praised as having a hour glass figure in that dress in Paris? She didn't look good at all in that dress. Mariah needs people who can tell her the truth, it seems like she has got yes people around her. #Beautiful is the best single she has released since Touch My Body but the video and luckluster promotion just killed that song. So many wasted oportunities. She needs to get out of her confort zone asap. Do a James Bond soundtrack or any other blockbuster movie, collaborate with current producers, do a full album with a group like Daft Punk, collaborate with Pharell, stop repeating the same format time and time again. Please dont give up Mariah, just try new things and a new look. Music will not be the same without you.

Thoughts / randomness (54,584)

Am I the only one who thinks "We Belong Together" stands on its own? I don't think any of her other songs sound like that. Even "Infinity" stands on its own. Even though a lot of songs have similar themes, they all sound different to me. I also agree that she should refrain from using the 18 #1s after the #1 To Infinity Vegas shows are over. MC has such a huge strong catalogue. I can't wait for the days when we can hear those album cuts live. Or even if she rearranged the songs like she did with "Thank God I Found You" for the fans. Bump the people that don't know the album cuts. I think it's awesome she is doing the theater again for the Christmas shows. I will most definitely be in NYC to see her. I want to see MC for 4th of July again. but I want to hear "Fourth of July", "Infinity" and "America the Beautiful". I first paid attention to MC in the 3rd grade. "Daydream" was the album and "Fantasy" was the cut. I remember asking "What does hectic mean?" Oh to be a kid again. I remember people would bring Brandy into conversation back then and even at that age, I was the fan like nope, she's your favorite singer's favorite singer. Lol.
