Ugh in my post where I addressed Bruno, Kate and Bill together, this part was for Kate: "You are right, there is nothing much we can do. I just get frustrated you know? I thought moving to Sony would mean a lot of changes for the good. Anyways, nice to meet you." I must have forgotten to add the name before the part.

Alternate version (54,100)

Um the alternate version is fan made and that channel is not Mariah's. Instead of spreading it, shouldn't it be reported? Isn't it taking away from Mariah's streaming points?

New album (54,099)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Now that the video has come out, we can finally leave this 1 To Infinity era behind. The promotion was great and her performances have improved. She needs to continue to sing live. Now Mariah, there is no time for breaks before the July leg of your show. You need to get back in the studio and continue working on the new album, you know, the album you said you were up late working on a couple months ago. She needs resurgence with new great material, heavy promotion, and great live performances. May Infinity be a lesson that should have been learned with all the other lack luster singles (Triumphant, TALG, You're Mine) that you've tried to push while you ignore an album full of solid material (MIAM) or even a possible summer song (YDKWTD). No more filler to help buy time, get back in the lab, stay in hiding and reemerge with solid material that you promote the hell out of instead of paying it dust.

Infinity video (alternative version) (54,098)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
This version is my current favourite with all the symbolism of the smudged 8 lipstick on the mirror and her bling jewely. She has never looked more beautiful and that is amazing in itself. Some of you are still not up to speed about the point of this song and videos because you're too caught up in chart positions. But that's okay because M is stealth like that. Not really, but let's pretend she is. It's freaking hilarious tbh. All is fair.

Name play or play on the names / demise of the puppy (54,097)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I don't know if any of you noticed this, but I found it cute that they basically played on the names of each of the suitors when naming their Match.com user names. For Jussie Smollett it was "Smoll World" (with the changed spelling), then for Jeff Beacher it was "Love the Beach" which again is a play on his last name, for Tyson it was "Model Citizen", while not a direct play on his name it's creative because he is a model. So I enjoyed that bit. In other news, Brett tweeted that the adorable puppy in the video, Princess Charlotte, has passed away. Quite tragic. The puppy was adorable.

Hire us (54,096)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Darn it Mariah, do it already. I totally agree with Tiina, I think a lot of people here really come up with great ideas that her own team of professionals seem to lack. Mariah really needs to either hire her fans or take ideas from fans via social media regarding single choices, video ideas and so on, and please get a good stylist. Tiina, I'm with you on the "not lowering my expectation". I could make do with the lack of stunts if the story actually flowed well. The shots Tiina and I came up with would actually have a good story flow and wouldn't cost a lot more either. Just a few more shots. Which would tie the story in together. Plus the song and the video is giving out different meanings. I would skip going with Jussie at the end. The song is about learning to love oneself. Why run with Jussie when the boy got the door slammed on him haha. The party scene mentioned by me or the scene Tiina said of MC driving away herself would have been better.

The older man is Jeff Beacher. You are right, there is nothing much we can do. I just get frustrated you know? I thought moving to Sony would mean a lot of changes for the good. Anyways, nice to meet you. Bill, you are hilarious. Haha your idea of what's dangerous for Mariah now made me laugh embarrassingly loud. I was reading somewhere else that "not touching herself is dangerous for her". But yours is funnier.

The problem with Infinity (54,094)
by Matthew from USA
| |
|
|
I think the video doesn't have a concept or story because the song itself doesn't really have a set one either. I mean the verses are about her dismissing a former lover. The chorus then says that there is an end to infinity. If that was all, then the song would be a break-up anthem. Unfortunately, after the second chorus, Mariah decides to try and make the song more than just a break-up anthem to mixed results. So we get her saying things like infinity loving me more and more. And she believes infinity is more than just a made up dream. So at the very end of the song, it becomes a song about loving yourself and empowerment because Mariah wants the song to be everything to everyone. She insists it's not about her personal life, and everyone should take their own meaning from the song. So it's not surprising that the concept for the video is also trying to do everything for everyone. There's concert footage for fans who like that, there's glamour shots, there's a bit of narrative with the guys at the door. In the song itself, she is kind of rapping the verses for fans who like that, but then she sings the chorus for fans who like that. So, do you believe infinity is more than just a made up dream? Or do you believe there is an end to infinity? Either way, this song is for you. It's for everyone.

The Infinity video message (54,092)
by Jewel from USA
| |
|
|
I have been a diehard Mariah fan since day 1 so no hate, just my reaction to the Infinity video. The video bums me out because it made some powerful statements about what has happened to her career. The video says: "No man is good enough for me, I'm full of myself, I prefer to spend my time taking selfies with toy dogs rather than being with a man, I live in a bubble, I'm no longer relatable, buy my perfume, I think I'm the queen of Las Vegas, my chest is bigger than my voice and you must notice it in every shot, please buy my perfume, I walk around on my tip toes and there's not much happening on stage in my Ceasars show." Mariah has always had great videos, this one sadly falls short and reinforces this whole out of touch "diva with a major 'tude" persona she now promotes. Bums me out. Mariah used to be so cool.

When you said because you and another member are black was you insinuating that because we don't like her music it's because she's black or that we're not entitled to bash her because were not black? Or did I just misunderstand what you were trying to say? I'm an not racist. My best friends are African American and I have dated a lot of African American guys and correct me if I'm wrong by isn't Mariah Carey a black woman? She's biracial but she embraces her heritage and has never denied her racial background. I hope I just misunderstood your post because I understand that what you said can be interpreted many different ways. I hope this makes sense because I'm rambling, lol.

More Infinity stuff (54,090)
by Lee TS from USA

I'm loving the fan reactions and it shows how creative some of you really are. I do enjoy the video and have watched it plenty of times. There's one scene that seriously makes me lol, it's 2:07-2:08 mark when she's being blasted by too much wind in slow motion. First of all the way they cut up the shots in those few seconds is a hot mess. But that specific shot is to die for in hilarity. It's like she's almost making a parody of herself. Yes Skip, I totally agree with you about the dog selfie moment, too long and it didn't make sense. It's the last line of the song and it should've had an isolated moment, I dunno, I'd imagine a close up of her face eyes closed concentrating then blasting the last note to a roaring crowd. I do love the confetti but it was also kinda off too, the angle and the lighting. I mean come on, even the lyric video has a nice build up to that moment and going into the flashing Honey images worked well, it was very, "You're never going to touch this again and see me in your dreams darling." This is a fun video to poke fun at though.

Good Lord. Not sure who/what's behind the details/logistics of making the new video but it looks like a second thought, let's-put-this-together-last-minute type thing. The video shots do not compliment her vocals what so ever (meaning it doesn't highlight vocal "moments"). I am surprised with the outcome, considering her long term interests in acting. Mariah does look beautiful in the video.

I have to admit on first watch it seemed a bit scattered but that was on my iPhone lol. After watching it on my computer I liked it more. I did think they were going to have more storyline and keep the stage scenes for the end climax. It is a stride in the right direction though. I wonder if the whole process of moving to Sony, whipping up a new single, recording that single, then planning Vegas and a music video cause the video to become a last minute thing. I like it though, it could be worse haha. It kinda reminds me of a fancy version of the Forever music video.

"Hype" / Licia (54,086)
by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
| |
|
|
I feel what some might be calling "hype" re Infinity is actually how things are done when a label/team is behind their artist. Mariah simply didn't have that kind of support for a long time with IDJ and likewise people weren't prepared to hear the positive commentary. (Lol.) I enjoy Infinity. It's not my favorite song Mariah has ever put out, but I do love many things about it. The video is simple and fun and the quality of it is awesome. I still feel the song was never intended to be commercially mainstream ie "her 19th #1 single". I feel it's doing what it was intended to do, re-introduce MC to the public and promote Vegas. I'm not saying MC doesn't enjoy achieving #1 records I just don't have the sense this was ever their urgent expectation at this point (as reflected in comments by LA Reid). Licia, I can only speak for myself, but in those rare times where a song by an artist I am into hasn't been my bag, the video doesn't make a difference. (Lol.)

Infinity music video (54,084)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |

|
The new video is everything I expected it would be, a video that captures this moment in time of her Las Vegas residency. Mariah is genuinely happy now you can tell just watching this video and I'm happy that she's happy. Wanted dem babies to have a moment in it too though. Lol. Enjoy the music guys, that's all I can say and if she bags another number one I'd be glad but if not she's set as a legend to infinity. Once the topic of music, songwriting and voices is brought up, Mariah Carey is number one. Her legacy, achievements and body of work speak volumes for her.

Yeah that closet scene was a little awkward. I just really needed this video to make me like this song. I didn't buy the album so I was looking forward to buying the single. I've never had to work this hard to like anything Mariah. Lol. Ardis I'm never going to lessen my expectations so that I won't be disappointed because I know that she's capable of so much more than what she has been giving. I don't expect perfect, but I do expect her to give her best. This for me is not her best.

Infinity video (54,082)
by Skip from United States
| |
|
|
Oof, that video hurt. I could already imagine the field day comedians would have doing a commentary track for it. It seemed pretty clear they just didn't shoot that much. Besides the concert footage, there was no coverage, no close-ups to cut to, not even multiple set ups to get variation. The closet bit was so weird. Why was she singing to her ex from her closet? And it was edited poorly, too. (Not that I blame the editor entirely, they probably used every second of footage that was shot.) The bit where she's taking a selfie with a dog (good lord, there's a bit where she takes a selfie with a dog) goes on for several seconds too long. I think if this had been a major motion picture it would have never gotten released, or at least Brett Ratner would have removed his name from it. I've been a fan literally since the first single in 1990 but this is yet another strike in addition to the many that have accumulated over the past two years. I usually defend her, but I'm tired. When JD says Mariah doesn't take her career seriously, I have to wonder why I take being a fan seriously. I'm ranting, but I feel burned.

Mariahs new video (54,081)
by Liz Archer from Sweden
| |
|
|
I realled like the video "Touch my body" because it had a clear story and it was nearly and fun. "Heartbreaker" for the same reason and of course "Its like that" and the following song "Say something". Mariah's new song Infinity is a really good song. I love it. And I do think it has been very nicely shot, there are some really cool scenes and some awkward scenes (the closet ones) yet somehow I am feeling a bit disappointed. I expected to see an interesting story to this. Just something different. Maybe I am feeling disappointed because we always see Mariah glamorous to the teeth with this sparkling tight dresses and bling. It is always the same thing. I do think Mariah looks amazing in this video. I loved the scenes on the stage, but I wish we could see a new side to her. Maybe some storyline like a mini movie in a video or something. I don't know.

The video, Mimi L and ideas, wasted opportunity (54,080)
by Tiina from Finland
| |
|
|
Exactly, they could have done so much with this video. All this time and we get a video that seems like it was scrapped together at the last minute and the storyline falls short. Of course we expect it to be good because they've been hyping it up for so long and because we know how well Mariah and Brett work together when they really sit down and work it out. He's directed some of her best videos. I'm also not going to lower my standards just so I don't get disappointed. She's Mariah Carey and he's Brett Ratner after all. It doesn't have to be this huge motion picture, but I don't understand why they didn't work on that storyline some more. It took us probably a few minutes to come up with something that is both funny and ties all the scenes together. It wouldn't have required a bigger budget either, just a few more scenes (or less beauty shots) and a little dialogue. Mariah is joking all the time anyway, just press record. I like that idea Mimi L had of her having a party with her friends at the end. How about celebrating on that rooftop overlooking Vegas? Really Mariah should have hired us lol.

Infinity (again) (54,077)
by Lee TS from USA
| |
|
|
Now watching the teaser or promo for Vegas which it really was a clip to promote the residency, it just slays. In that little bit, every second was utilized. From the opulence shots of her diamonds and kitten slipper it really showed the diva in her glamour space. From her singing "lose the key" in that quick/slight pan and the way she was coming forward and upwards was everything to me. Her looking up to the beauty lighting and singing for a quick second was splendid. From the way she looks to the side at the vanity singing Infinity implying it's not forever. Of course the lipstick drawing of infinity and erasing it emphasized the message. The way her curls were bouncing and she giggling was cuteness for days and prominently featuring her beauty mark. Then the connecting hair flips of her silhouette and closet was just amazing. Her running in her sequinned gown was also fabulous, if there's ever a moment that requires hair being blown it was that and she perfects it with a quick pose and over the shoulder moment. Now back to the video, why in the sam hell was Mariah lounging on a sofa and not a chaise lounge? That whole shot irks me. Towards the end when she giggles and twirls up in all that confetti, it for some reason made me think of Hocus Pocus. If I didn't know, I seriously would've thought that was a body double on stage because of the wig. With the opening shot being the guy on the violin, it would've been nice to see Mariah also get lit up in one of her famous silhouette shots. It was too jarring. Why did she forget how to apply perfume? She sprayed but didn't do a diva twist instead she did the dab technique. The butterfly ring barely made an appearance. Shout out to the World Music Awards dress making an appearance in the closet. I don't truly understand why she would turn down Frito when he's brought splashes with him. Shout out to the puppy being inspired by Ginger. There's plenty of moments.

The buzz created the expectations (54,076)
by Rene from US
| |
|
|
Our expectations were high because this song along with the video are a celebration of her 25 year anniversary of her career. I will never stop being a fan and always try to be optimistic. Although, her team created the buzz not us. I thought it took long to release video because it took too long to edit the video. Yet, it did not have any state of the art stuff that is difficult to edit. Brett Rattner could've done a better job. The video seems lazy. I thought it would have more creativity and a better plot. I get the idea but they could've first shown Mariah all sad from the breakup with no make up. Her make up smeared from all the mascara. Even she could be throwing out "the bag" and even lighting "Nick's" car on fire and his diamond shoes the ones he wore to America's got talent. Or do I like that scene from "Waiting to Exhale" too much? Mariah could have had a transformation from a miserable person to the vivacious diva she is. I would've chosen the scenes from the concert at the end. They could've shot the opening of the curtains from her perspective, what she sees when she goes on stage. All these people go to see Mariah sing until infinity. The build up should be noticeable in the plot. The scenes seems to scattered. That's my rant for this video. I love her but I was expecting more.
