Harper's Bazaar (55,356)

For those of us who were wondering why Mariah was in Paris and the fate of the whole photo shoot she did there, it turns out that she will be featured in the annual "Icons" issue of Harper's Bazaar, which will be released on September 16. Apparently, there will be a launch event at The Plaza Hotel in New York to reveal the issue and to start off New York's Fashion Week. You can read more here.

Wrong is wrong (55,355)

I don't have a foul attitude towards Mariah. I saw something that she did that I felt was wrong and I spoke on it. I didn't make her look bad, she did that by herself. Being a fan of her music doesn't mean I can't voice my opinion when I feel she's wrong.

I was surprised to see Katy Perry at the MC concert. I guess whatever "shade" was thrown has been reconciled. Glad to see they can put it behind them whatever the issue may have been. I'm thrilled all these singers are going to support MC. It's a testament to her legacy. SC, the "Someday" version incorporated TLC's "Ain't To Proud To Beg".

Question (55,353)

Hi guys, quick question. Do you know which remix Mariah sings for the song "Someday" during her Vegas show? I noticed that it's some sort of old school beat that is a good reinvention for the Someday song. Similar to the Dreamlover part of the show when she adds the beat from "Juicy" from Notorious B.I.G.. I would love to know which beat is used for Someday as I love it. Thanks.

Why not a drive by mommy? (55,352)
by Lee TS from USA

I mean, if Nick wanted to change his ways and not work or to take it easy, he can ask for full costody of the kids. Then he can stay collecting blank checks from his baby momma ex. He can spend quality time raising the kids and all that good stuff. Mariah can pick them up every other weekend and bring them to Disneyland. And we would get more Mariah, she can stay busy creating music for us. She doesn't have to be a full time mommy, breaking all traditions and become a modern mom. Oh and that would guarantee more time to yacht it up with Packer. Nick may be a bad husband to Mariah but that doesn't mean he's a bad father. They are both to blame for their marriage falling apart, I'm sure Mariah has her moments too. They had their moment in time and I'm sure they were once truly in love with each other. They both have already won with Dembabies. Let's celebrate that and wish them both well.

One last thing (55,350)

I just find it interesting how some individuals have developed such a foul attitude towards Mariah just in general. They would choose anybody's side over Mariah's (whether that person wronged Mariah or not). That's so funny to me how someone can come on here and defend Nick's (or anybody else's) honor over Mariah's and would rather turn it around to make Mariah look bad in the situation. Mind boggling. Anyway I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't trying to call Nick a "dead beat" daddy. I jokingly called him a "drive by daddy" (not to be mistaken with dead beat daddy), which pretty much means he comes pick the kids up on the weekends (or whatever), take them to the park, get some ice cream or what have you and then drop them back off at momma's by sundown or when the weekend's over. Which is not necessarily horrible, I'm actually really relieved and very glad when I do see him with the kids. I was just making the point that we mostly see them with Mariah (which is generally typical for kids to be closer or live with their mothers). I'm just saying seems like they don't live with Nick, or like he would have them for long periods of time like Mariah does, his time with them comes across as he's visiting them. Anyway I just want to put it out there that I'm actually rooting for Nick as a father and also continuing to co parent peacefully with Mimi.

Sony re-releasing the Merry Christmas album I'd rather them do a dvd of the Beacon Theater shows (or Vegas) or even just a live album of those shows. Doesn't that make more sense? Right about now I'd even take a compilation of unreleased songs. I'm in need of something new. Something like those would hold me over until they decide whether they will do a new album.

More then 18 no's (55,348)

Mariah Carey has always been a global artist since the beginning in 1990. It got me thinking about all of the #1's Mariah has ever achieved turns out there are roughly over 40 of them. Usually when the compilations are released they are based of the American and European charts alone, for example a #1 Through The Rain was reached in Spain but is not a considered a #1 to be included on any releases. Granted some of songs got to #1 for maybe a week and fell off but I feel that irregardless of how long a #1's stays in that position it should still be considered since it managed to reach the top. On a side not I did not realize Thank God I Found You was a #1 until Mariah talked about it in her Memories And Rants series.

Hello Ben from the Netherlands, thank you for providing information about the Asian charts for ''1 [...]", Like I said before Mariah's blessed by God and always something great happens to her to this day, like her music legacy still does very good in the Asian continet, so happy to see that for her because [...] into her music, it has to be valuable. And somehow the first no 1's compilation is repeating itself. I would advice her to promote herself more over there, like surprise appereances on tv, radios, some street walking, even she colud do big busineess but I don't know. Could you provide me the links so I can see the chart status? This gives me the chills. Bye.

"I Am" (55,343)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
What's up with every female R&B singer using the "I Am" title lately? So you had Beyonce with "I Am... Sasha Fierce", then you had Mary J. Blige's song "I Am" around 09/10, then came Mariah's admittedly more original (!) "Me. I Am Mariah" (which if you think about it, predates all of them ) and now we have Leona Lewis's new album called "I Am". I mean, seriously? I'm sure I'm also missing a couple more in between. Finally, according to a rather obscure interview from last year apparently Mariah had the exact same concept with Beyonce's self-titled album when it came to packaging, title and release, only she got robbed. She didn't name her, but that's the only one I could think of on the basis of the things MC said. If I find this interview again, I'll post it.

Licia (Back In Time) (55,342)
by Andrew from UK

Licia, your views are almost on point. Many obsessives sticking pins into voodoo Nick dolls without much cause is quite alarming. And he wasn't disliked because he's black (why do people keep banging on about race) he was disliked because he's a bit of a d*ck. Yet, your comment that men should be the breadwinners sounds exactly like a comment that would have come out of Nick Cannon's mouth. I can almost hear him saying it. Retract it. Retract it before it's too late, before it gets worse and you grow pubescent facial hair, rap or do comedy so bad that people wish they could un-learn English, get dressed in the dark every day, tell all the big boys about your rude-y parts so that they'll like you, and keep calling Mariah "my wife" as if her identity was now fully dependent upon yours. But seriously gender stereotypes are so old out-dated they're just plain ridiculous now. Unless maybe you live in the Caliphate. In which case, go for it.

I didn't say you said that. No I did not say that. I said many of us were brought up that men should earn women should be home makers. That's what I said. I didn't say anything about you saying Mariah should do the same. I was simply rejecting the idea that being brought up a certain way doesn't mean you have to share that idea. I wasn't attacking anyone, nor was I putting words in your mouth. Nor am I attacking Nick. I was directly replying to your comment about the way people are brought up defining their thoughts and opinions. I have no opinion on how other people live their lives as frankly it's none of my business and I have no time picking apart other people. I just offered a different way of looking at things.

Faded, Cry and Camouflage (55,339)

I still believe (no pun intended) that Cry, Faded are three of the most emotional and intriguing songs Mariah has ever done. To not have Faded played on the radio should have been a crime. All three songs are exceptional.

You all can make a million messages about gender roles, but we all know that none of you would have accepted Nick being a stay at home dad. In your eyes that would have further proved your assumption that he just wanted to live off her. I stand by everything I said. He should have been working and we still have no proof he cheated. The end. Next topic. Lol.

Who's the man? (55,337)
by Ardis Logic from Earth
| |
|
|
There has been a dramatic change in the work force in the last few years. I think most men who are "stay at home fathers" would probably rather be working, but it is just gotten extremely difficult for men to find jobs. Too many jobs are also geared more towards women. Also because of the war, that has been going on for what feels like forever, there are a lot more men who are at home now disabled, so they stay at home and their wife works. There should be no shame in this at all. Men who stay at home and take care of the kids and house should be respected just the same as the women who have done it for years. Plus if the woman wants to be with a man who is a "stay at home dad" that is her choice. Who are we to judge their situation? If that situation is not for you then don't get into it. Simple as that.

The issue of cheating / proof? (55,335)
by Ardis Logic from Earth
| |
|
|
We all know that Mariah expresses herself through music. Right? So I wonder why in the world she choose this song to sing of all songs. Just at that time when her relationship with Nick was falling apart. "Don't Explain" originally recoded by Billie Holiday. Then Mariah choose to change the lyrics to "I know you cheated, motherf--ker," instead of, "And I know you cheat, Right or wrong, don't matter." I wonder why she would do that for no reason? That's all the proof I need right there. Mariah herself is telling us that this man cheated on her.

Re: enwar00 / "Cry." (55,333)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
Enwar00, I second what you say. "Cry." is indeed a masterpiece and a career highlight. I had never heard Mariah using that tone and area of her voice in a studio recording before. This song is proof that she creates "vocal compositions" unlike anyone else. Marvin Gaye used to have a similar approach via vocal layering, and Mariah is equally if not more phenomenal. "Cry." showcases the musician that she is, not the popstar. It could be a song in an avant-garde, supposedly "serious" artist's cd. It is sophisticated, deep, while the minimalist reverbaration of "cry" makes you feel as if you enter a different zone. Finally, though most people - albeit rightfully - salute early Mariah as the greatest vocalist in the world, for me this delivery is the epitome of the greatest singing I've ever heard. The vocal and emotional complexities that are found in "Cry." could not have been achieved by young Mariah.

Applause for Licia (55,332)
by Lee TS from USA
| |
|
|
Cheers, toast, bravo to you my dear. I agree with everything you said. Nick probably felt a bit insecure compared to Mariah, no man wants to be aka Mr. Carey. Can you blame the guy for wanting to step his game up and provide for his family? Yes he did take on too many gigs that makes no sense, like DJ-ing? I doubt he makes the celebrity dj quota and that takes him away from his family. I don't believe he cheated because no one has yet to provide receipts. Ok this is going to sound offensive, but not even a transgender woman has come out to claim anything. Just because it seems to be the popular celebrity thing to do. To be honest, it's more realistic that it was Mariah's insecurity talking when she was pining for the abandoner. Overall, I think they have both maintain a very respectful separation. Nothing scandalous or outrageous. Let's be happy that M has moved on and found new love. I think one thing M will probably miss is him being goofy to make her laugh. That's one quality she loves, a guy with a sense of humor. I hope Packer can crack a few good jokes now and then.
