The media (53,334) by Jono from USA
How surprising, the media was fairly silent when it came to Mariah's successful opening night and subsequent performances, but now it's rampant again about how she cancelled her show. Could her team have handled the cancellation better? Sure. But isn't it convenient that the news is now spinning the story that Mariah's show had been "struggling". Haters stay mad lol. Unfortunately these brainwashed puppets who are so used to subpar vocal skills and singing from current artists they don't realize the vocal olympics that is Mariah's set list. Hell, even Mariah's opening rift in VOL would send many acts today running to the backing track. This is the media guys, sensationalism sells and gets you clicks. It is extremely irritating though, it's like our girl can't catch a break. That being said, I'm wishing Mariah a speedy recovery. It's a little troubling to hear about her having bronchitis again, especially since that was a problem in Asia last year. I don't know her schedule (and would never attempt it), but she needs rest. My roommate was a trained opera singer and she was absolutely strict about resting her voice and getting enough sleep. We know how hard Mariah works and how staying up until the early hours of the morning is normal, but it's not good for someone who has such a delicate voice. But this is just a minor setback, and I know she will bounce back. I'm excited for this weekend, big things are coming up.

Mariah's wisdom (53,333) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Even when she was young and starting out, Mariah always had this beyond her years maturity. Yes, maybe she learned to indulge the 12-year old self more and more as her career progressed, but she would always have this more serious side that she usually only shows in more intimate and casual interviews. It's very interesting to see how these conversations reveal just how smart and savvy she is. Especially her latest interviews, where her answers seem to hold more weight (like kilos, haha) and substance than ever before, possibly because they come from a woman who has weathered more storms than most artists can get out alive of. The wisdom in her most recent words is intriguing and quite extraordinary, as they manage the delicate balance between being too safe and revealing too much. That's why I find it fascinating to listen to interviews with legacy artists such as Mariah, Madonna, Janet, etc. because they have been around for so long, you can't help but learn from them.

I'm really hoping that the BBMAs would resurrect Infinity, as well as the video. I wish that this single won't be another "buzz single". Lol the LA Times interview was amazing, I had the same feeling with Mariah when SIO didn't go #1, I was like damn you WBT can't you like step out of #1 for a week for SIO then just continue your reign the next week? Idk how they would make Infinity climb up the charts again. I think to make it a hit they'll need to re-introduce it with a killer remix. Sam Smith re-did Lay Me Down as a duet with John Legend and it flew into the top 10 immediately.

The queen of candor is back (53,331) by Marissa from USA
These honest interviews are what converted me from an admirer to a lamb to begin with. Back when I was an admirer I thought that she had an exquisite voice and was beautiful but didn't know much about her personality. After watching a few of her interviews I saw that despite her having the difficult diva persona, she was actually one of the realest celebrities that I had ever come across. I'm relishing in this realness right now. I'm glad MC isn't the type to hide everything from her fans indefinitely but is usually itching to be honest with us, sometimes the timing just isn't right to tell us immediately. Last time MC gave us live updates with her life and business hardships (the infamous voicemails) she was branded as a lunatic, so apparently now she prefers to let the dust settle before speaking.

Hate on me much as you want to (53,329) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
"Snitches be imitating me daily." Fun fact: the melody to that part of Loverboy is the same melody to the "Firecracker" sample that J. No used on the first version of "I'm (Not) Real", which is why Mariah said that was her favorite part of the song on her infamous TRL appearance. Now I must say while Miss Bey is way more talent than J. Lo (even though it's a bit forged IMO), she's known as a musical klepto herself. I know she is a lamb and admits Mariah made her want to be a singer and can tell she started out wanting to have the same affect on people that Mariah had vocally, but she nowhere near as creative as people give her credit for. It's so bizzare that its the opposite with Mariah not getting enough credit. It's good that MC handles it all better now and I admire her so much more after the (LA Times) interview, keep smiling and inspiring us all with your God given creativity and gifts MC. Don't let the haters ever get you down, because they "can't do what the funk you do".

I am not sure if you were responding to my post. I just wanted to clarify I'm not saying Mariah and the label don't want to be successful, it's more that I don't think you can predict how things are going to go down. Of course an artist ultimately wants that success, but if that pressure is there everytime you're putting pen to paper? Yikes. It would be hard to create anything that way.

I love Mariah (53,326) by enwar00 from usa
Is it weird that I love Mariah and am thankful that she continues to release music that enriches my life and touches my soul when I hear it, and I don't really care whether she is known by a young crowd, is mentioned on some site or charts on the Billboard Hot 100?

#1's (53,325) by Lee TS from USA
M is thirsty for #1's it's true. She said it in the interview with SIO, and even commenting at least they got one hit out of MOAIA. She answered a fan during her twitter takeover for iHeart radio that she wanted every other song released to be #1 and that was the honest answer. Yes, I agree that she doesn't write and produce a song with the main focus of it being a hit. But I do believe the label releases a song in all hopes for it to succeed.

No worries. I understood your points the whole time. I didn't think you were saying you didn't like the song. (And even if you didn't, hey that's you're right.) And the rushed thing was more responding to a post above yours (sorry, lol). But, yeah I think things weren't going well at IDJ for quite awhile, then Mariah also got caught up in personal things going on. I think there is some truth to the world justifying ageism in music too. Honesty, I think we're just in this place where we have to wait and see how things develop with Sony and new projects.

Mimi L / Mariah friends list (53,323) by Tevin from USA
Yeh it would be kind of intresting if they had JLo sing Loverboy lol. I'm pretty sure Mariah would lose it and run her over with her pink car prop from Vegas lol. People are being so shady lately to Mariah, seems like her friends list is getting smaller. Does anyone think she is still friends with Boz II Men or Bey and Jay Z?

Recent interviews (53,322) by Martyn from England, UK
Is anybody else getting a 1999 vibe from all these recent interviews? They're all so interesting and revealing. I need to know who stole her intellectual property.

I respect your opinions too and I like your posts. I must not have been clear in my last post, I have absolutely no problem with the song. In fact I really like it and I love the humor in her lyrics. Do I think the production was rushed? Yes. But I still love the song. I have said this many times, content-wise Mariah hardly disappoints. I don't care if people think it's a dig at Nick. Mariah has many diss records. Anyways, basically I love the song. That's not the problem, the problem is with it not even getting to chart properly. One week on the charts? Is that what it has come to? Mariah's career won't end until she decides to stop making music, but one flop single after another will somehow create deep and maybe even permanent dents in her track record. I probably sound like I am pushing Mariah or whatever, but it's only because I know she still has it in her to get as many hits as she wants. I thought this song would chart much higher because of the summery vibe to it and the light and fun, even youthful lyrics to it. That's my complaint. That she keeps making good songs and they keep vanishing like they don't exist. I hope it's clearer now. Anyways I won't lie, yes I want chart success. This is Mariah, she deserves to be at the top. I am sick of people writing her off as a ditzy diva.

I respect your thoughts, and understand that people just want to see her commercially successful, but I really do feel the song was intended for the Vegas compilation, much like ISB was to the original #1's album. I mean of course artists like to chart, I'm not suggesting they don't. I just don't think Mariah sits down to write going "Ok this is my next top 10 or number 1 record." And honestly? I think her next (hit) will come when least expected. I'm simply saying, Infinity not charting in the top 10 or 20 won't be the end of her career (lol). It is nice at this point for her to put out a song that demonstrates to the public that she can do the kind of ballad with long sweeping belting notes that "Classic Mariah" is known for. I think infinity accomplishes that. And it takes the focus away from the press in the last few years (if you aren't a fan who follows MC closely). Was it rushed? Probably. What with moving labels and signing on for residency? Maybe she could have put out a different type of single, but to me it's pointless to speculate, because this is what we've got. Her interviews have been fantastic, the residency has been positive for her. I don't know, one step at a time.

Great LA Times interview (53,318) by Paul D from USA
The LA Times interview was fantastic. Wasn't there a rumor last year that Mariah was going to feature a song with Beyonce as one of the singles for MIAM? If they worked together, and Beyonce ended up "borrowing" some concepts, it would lead me to believe that Beyonce is the artist Mariah is referring to as the "scandal". Keeping in mind that MIAM was years in the works (4 maybe?), it would make sense that someone like Beyonce borrowed her ideas.

LA Times (53,317) by B from USA
I think Mariah's statement about some work she's still proud of is very telling. These interviews have all been telling. I want to know who the artist is that stole intellectual property from Mariah. Beyoncé?

Stolen idea (53,316) by NHYTG from nyc
Now that she has opened up about this stolen idea I want to know what idea it was and who stole it. By the way, I like Mariah's interviews a lot lately and I hope she will get well soon. Curious if she will be performing at the BBMA.

AIWFCIY worst vs. best / hiatus (53,315) by Malcolm from Asia
I just watched the AIWFCIY performance of MC in Beacon Theatre and it sounds fantastic. I wish someone leaked the mic-feed of it so that the public will know that Mariah still sounds good. It's very unfair and sad that the media is bringing her down or treat her as irrelevant, she must be treated as a legend by now. Many times I think of this thought: What if Mariah will take a 1-2 years break from media, performing, guesting, posting online etc. and focusing on her next album only secretly, no paparazzi. (Okay somehow, I'm referring what Janet Jackson does now haha.) Although it's hard for us not see any update from Mariah but I think it can help to bring back her charisma from the public once they notice she's gone. She can focus, be inspired, be fit (especially) and relax in many ways, and by that it can reflect to the music she will make and it will be better. And I'm imagining by the time she will be seen in public again, it will be hot if she debuts a short locks hair or a very straight black hair (for a big change and new take on her), her 90's eyebrows (the thick and natural one) I'm so sick on her brows lately, it's so very thin and light, and the "American Idol" body and aura plus very good and very young stylist. It will be fabulous, the public will see a new and exciting Mariah Carey like she used to before and that is a very much clean slate for her.

Raphael (53,314) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
My apologies then. I don't really follow Beyonce's career or any other artist's for that matter, the way I follow Mariah and Michael. So ya I could be wrong. I could have sworn though that I thought Sasha Fierce didn't do welll, but I guess I mixed it up.

Marcus / Jono (53,313) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Marcus, haha sorry I was trying out my mind reading device. Or you could say I pulled a Beyonce/JLo and stole your idea. Jono, although my post is just my theory, I think it actually is quite possibly what went down. Why JLo never even came to my mind was because that thing happened years ago, that story has been repeated way too many times. The 3 key words "title, concept and visuals" immediately made me think of only Beyonce. To think that this copied idea got Beyonce to where she is today makes me mad. Before that album, Beyonce was serving one flop/moderate song after another. Even "Run the world" which she tried turning into an anthem didn't crack top 20. So her surprise album got crazy sales thanks to it being a surprise because most of the songs in it are crap. Beyonce is known for "borrowing". Now I can't help but wonder how amazing it would have been if Mariah got to carry on with her plan. She can actually write a whole story through an album. Beyonce tried to make it a story but it was basically about her butt, her drinking watermelon (which thanks to urban dictionary, I found out is not the real fruit), telling the driver to roll up the window while she blows Jay-Z. And here we have songs of loss and pain, hope, love and songs with truly deep meanings and still get thrown out of the BB charts without being able to cross top 80.

Mimi L / Beyoncé (53,312) by Raphael from Brazil
Nah. Beyoncé did the same with B'day album, every song has a video. You can be right about the tittle and the surprise release though. "Whereas her previous ones were flops", only 4 flopped. I am Sasha Fierce. It was a hit.

Stolen concept (53,310) by Luke from United Kingdom
It's sad this has happened. Like someone below said this explains the 4 year process last year. It's obvious Mariahs creativity is so deeply coveted since people are always fishing for her ideas. She is a true artist in an industry full of desperate and greedy fakes. Good on her for moving on, I wonder if she is planning to take action for it.

Mariah was articulate, engaging and funny. She hit all the right notes. It was a dream come true. Any doubts I ever had about her voice have been put to rest. She seems to be in a great place.
