Mariah was articulate, engaging and funny. She hit all the right notes. It was a dream come true. Any doubts I ever had about her voice have been put to rest. She seems to be in a great place.

Hold on, you are probably on to something. I totally thought she was talking about JLo and how she continues to try and follow whatever Mariah does. But you pointed out what Beyonce did and that makes sense. As much as I love that woman, she isn't known for being the most original and often "borrows" from other artists. So that's a pretty shady move. It makes sense now how Mariah says it would be a huge scandal. To the media, Beyonce is the exalted queen second coming of Christ and can do absolutely no wrong, whereas Mariah is their favorite punching bag. If she had named Beyonce, the media would have a firestorm and it would be clear which side they would take. Now I'm really curious as to what Mariah's original plans for MIAM were, including all the visuals we could have had.

On another note (53,307)

Criticisms aside, I will say that I am happy with the way Mariah's interviews are going. She is shedding some light into things that happened in the past few years and she is sounding very professional and composed. This is something I have been wanting for a long time. I am glad to see her showing the "fighter" side in her instead of dismissing things like she doesn't care. I smiled at the part she said she wanted to kill because SIO didn't reach #1. I felt the same. So people take note, MC still very much cares about more #1's. Don't pretend that she doesn't care. When you have all the wealth in the world, you want more. Same with when you have all the #1's, you want more. It's human nature. MC is pretty much spelling it out. She will fight until she gets a #1 or a hit and people with the whole "she doesn't care about more hits" should maybe see that and accept that.

Mimi L., how dare you copy my thoughts? I completely agree with your last post. It was so on point that I was just going to say amen to it. I hope it doesn't take Mariah more than two years to come with a new album.

I think calling a song that was released less than three weeks ago a flop is a little premature. She has appearances lined up so why don't we take a wait and see approach before starting with the negativity?

You know, I will always hope you are right and I am always ready to be proven wrong by MC when I criticize her. But really I don't know how "Infinity" will bounce back. I thought that the BBMA performance will act as a re-release for "Infinity" but for that it needed to stay at least on the Hot 100 chart this week as well and also be in the iTunes top 40. It's quite a stretch to think it will still be a hit. I am more than happy to hear "I told you so, I got another hit" from Mariah but it doesn't seem like it'll happen. I know Missy Elliot's song shot to #1 on iTunes the moment she performed it at the Superbowl, but come on that's the Superbowl, this is not of the same level. With all the positivity surrounding MC, it's a shame that this single slipped through the cracks,

I am just upset because I thought that they would really put in a lot of effort to promote this single. I am with you on the whole "let's not pretend it's a buzz single or it was just meant for the Vegas residency", I am not a believer of that. I also mentioned it a few posts below. It has now become a habit that every time MC releases a single, they hype it up and then drop promotions or delay it or whatever and then it flops and gets dubbed as a buzz single. Case in point "Triumphant - the buzz single/single dedicated to Nick", "You're Mine - only for Valentine's day/tie over until album release/tie over until the real single", "TAOLG - only for the fans, not an official single". Give me a darn break, I can't with these. Nowadays even a crappy song can hit #1 or at least crack the top 20 with the right kind of promotions. Infinity is still better than most songs played now. I am not with the people who think that only MC's talent is enough to get her to #1. It is difficult as it is to get #1 and this isn't the 1990s. I have tried to be very positive this era, but with the fall of "Infinity" and people starting with the whole "this wasn't meant to burn up the charts, she'll kill with the new album" I am pissed now. MC is a major talent, but even MC needs good promo if she wants to do well.

"Any plans to get back in the studio soon?" (interviewer) "Yes, we do. L.A. Reid and myself, we’re going to go in and go hard and think about the best move for the next record." (Mariah) Go in and go hard girl. Woohoo. I can't wait. Taken from LA Times interview.

Another great interview. I was really excited about this part. "If I were to do a show of my favorite songs for the fans, which I will do one day, it would be a more intimate setting." Wouldn't that be awesome?

No Shawty, it's Beyonce, reply to Will from England. (53,298)

I'm pretty sure she is talking about Beyonce and not JLo. JLo's cheat game happened years ago, Mariah has had a somewhat of a rebirth after that so we can say that incident happened in another lifetime. What makes me so sure this is about Beyonce is because she mentions "title, visuals and concept" was stolen. Title because Beyonce's new album was also self-titled. Visuals because she had a video for each song. Concept, well didn't Mariah say a while back that she had a secret album that no one knew about? Who was the only one to come up with a secret album around the time MC was supposed to release her work? She also said it would be a big scandal if she names the artist, and at this point so much has been written about JLo-MC feud that it wouldn't even make a story, on the other hand Beyonce gained superstar status after releasing her last album (whereas her previous ones were flops) and a MC-Beyonce feud would blow up the internet. The apprentice stealing from the mentor. Maybe this is why MC was not at the Tidal party.

Mimi L / Infinity (53,297)
by Marcus from Brazil

Mimi L., are you really surprised by the falling of "Infinity" from BB Hot100? It's 928 on iTunes. It's definitely a slipper hit. It's slipping away. The song is simply not single material and people are not feeling it, as simple as that. No matter how much they hype it, if people don't like it, it's a wrap. Any of the extra tracks on the original #1's are better than "Infinity". And let's not pretend that because it is a flop now it was only intended to promote her Vegas residency and nothing else. It was a rushed bad choice. The only sad thing is that it is now just a filler on a #1's record. I'm mad because I think Mariah is capable of doing better than "Infinity".

You literally made me stop breathing for a second. I probably had a mini heart attack. Don't you dare do that to me again *shakes Tevin by the shoulders*. Haha, you tricked me good. I mean I don't like Ariana much but I can still digest her singing a MC song because she has been wanting to be Mariah for a long time, but I can't fathom the thought of JLo attempting a Mariah song. She can't sing to save her life.

Another outstanding interview with Mariah. She (finally) talks about the problems with IDJ and what happened with MOAIA, MCIIY and MIAM. It may not go into great detail, but it's better than nothing. Is she referring to the JLo thing from years ago, when the Firecracker sample was used? Brilliant interview.

Did Mariah just slam Beyonce and IDJ? I knew it that the content on MIAM was not what Mariah was working on for almost 4 years. She had a totally different idea and her "fan" just took it and got all the spotlight. Check out this interview. More surprises to come. Slay Mimi.

Sad, but we can still hope (53,292)
by darrian liu from taiwan

Mimi L, yeah it's kinda sad, but it's predictable. Infinity entered the charts due to first week downloads and the string first week streaming. Sales in the second week is weak, and streaming is not as strong as the first week. Yeah, Sony put in a lot more promo for the album cover than the single, kinda weird. But there's still a chance for Infinity to go to sleeper hit status, probably with a killer remix just like what Tove Lo did with Habits (Stay High), plus the video ain't even out yet. The performance later at BBMAs could breathe new life though. It's a pretty big event and if Mariah can give a really good performance, it can boost sales. I'm really wishing that the video would be epic because that can help a lot. The airplay could get some boost too, I think radios there at US don't play Infinity that much. Did Infinity get the same radio push as #Beautiful? From what I remember, #Beautiful was successful because of massive airplay gains.

Bronchitis (53,291)
by Tevin from USA

Please Mariah get better, this coming up week is so important for singing. Well at least the haters cant say she lip shync, because I [...] you can get bronchitis from miming and only singing a few words. Now I see why Mariah doesn't sing her old hits all the time, it's really [...] on her voice especally now that she is older and her cords won't recover as fast as when she was young. By the way I found out that Ariana and JLo will be performing some of Mariah's older hits at the BBMA , lol. Just kidding, I wonder what that would sound like.

Get well soon Mariah / heartbroken fans (53,289)
by Ardis Logic from Earth

I hope MC will take good care of herself and get well as soon as possible. I can just imagine how the fans felt walking up fully excited to see her in concert and then they are met with this sign. I would be truly heartbroken. I hope they at least get their money back for the tickets and hopefully some other perks or complimentary stuff. I mean let's say it was me who went out there. I would have to get a babysitter for my child $$$. Put my dog in a kennel $$. Buy airplane tickets there and back $$$. Hotel and car rental and the tickets to see Mariah $$$$. OMG. That is a lot of money for someone who is not really a rich person. Wow. I just hope those fans will forgive her and I hope she truly does live up to her promise and "make it up" to them, for real though.

Vegas is like the Olympics (53,287)
by Lee TS from USA

So I hope M is discipline enough to endure this run and come out victorious. I don't want to seem like I'm going in on her but I need her to treat this like a 9-5 job with normal hours and train on the daily. She can't be filming videos and wrapping up at 3 in the morning when she has a show the next night or going out to catch a strip show on her nights off. No, I don't even know what I'm saying really. I mean of course I want to see her have fun and enjoy herself, but she needs to buckle down a bit and be on a strict routine schedule in order to survive this Vegas gig and not "winging" it. She needs to take care of herself and be in good health and voice. She's been plagued with bad health in recent years in the most critical times of her career. Dislocated shoulder, bronchitis, emotional distress possibly, and bronchitis again. I hope she's feeling better by the moment.

What? (53,286)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |

It's out of BB already? That is plain sad. Ugh Sony what are you doing man? Where the heck is the music video? This sucks. I am so pissed right now. They put in more promo for the darn album cover reveal than the single itself. For those hoping for a sleeper hit, I hope I have to bite my words after this, but I think that's not going to happen. It'll take a miracle to get Infinity back in the top 20 again (that is of iTunes) we can forget about BB. Nowadays there is hardly any sleeper hit. People have a smaller attention frame and the radios will play whatever is hot and current at that period of time. They won't wait for weeks to discover a song.

I've heard Infinty on the radio. Not like a hot hip hop and r&b station, but the grown folks r&b station, when they mix the new with the very old school. Sucks she had to cancel the show. Hopefully when I'm out there next week she doesn't cancel. I damn near think my feelings would be hurt. Lol. Anywho, I agree that it's crazy the way other artist promotions always feel larger than life and then MC gets snubbed. Also, I don't think industry people like MC because her soul is still intact and she really hasn't souled out. MC has stayed true to us and herself.
