Actions vs. words (53,196)
by Ardis Logic from Earth
| |
|
|
You all know that old saying. "Actions speak louder than words." That is so true in this case. His actions have showed what kind of person he is. Someone else mentioned it best, he is just posting these things "for the world to see" not his children or Mariah. Sorry Nick, those of us who have the ability to see the shadiness in people can see right through your fakeness.

I agree. I was so excited to learn MC would be singing LTT and IDWC. IDWC has to be one of my favorite ballads. It is always running through my head. She really did a great job with a difficult song. I'm glad to see her taking it easy with the uptempo songs, letting the backing track, dancers, and props take more of the lead. That way she can conserve more of her voice for the ballads which tend to rely on her voice to take the lead. I'm glad to see Vegas is being kind to Mariah. MC has surrounded herself with good professionals who know how to market this gem of a voice. Seems like everything with the show is polished and can only get better from this point. MC needed this. If all goes well, the Vegas residency will really set her up for that next album to blow us all out of the park, lol.

Another thing about Nick (53,193)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
The difference between Nick and Mariah regarding their roles as parents is that MC is doing whatever is needed for the kids' happiness without posting a million tweets/instagram posts about it. She isn't going around using Nick's pictures to show that she is being so friendly with Nick for her kids. She is doing whatever she has to do without declaring it to the world. Same can't be said about Nick. Why is it so important to post these for the world to see? I mean it's not like his kids are on instagram that it's for their benefit and by the time they are of the age to use these, they'll already know what is up so these are pointless. So just don't say anything, no positives, no negatives. I was just going through Nick's instagram and saw he posted a picture of a bag of Fritos. Basically I think he just loves to stir up controversies.

Nicks "loving" message (53,192)
by Luke from United Kingdom
| |
|
|
I don't believe the whole lovey crap. People can be respectable and helpful while divorcing but they don't display their worldy love for the ex. Most people move on but he isn't most people. He's just a creep and trying to wind Mariah up. I can see right through his whole act, defend him all you want but if you can't see what he is doing you probably haven't had to deal with snakes like him in reality. A more respectable post would have been wishing his children a lovely day with their mother on Mother's Day and leave it at that. You don't need to add on how much you love your divorced ex to make headlines as the yearning victim. The new song probably is about him but where is the proof? The way it is written it could be about the old record label. His approach to Mariah is nothing but manipulative and sly. Lessons he must learned from a father that seems to enjoy disrespecting curvier women. Sorry rant over.

Nick (53,191)

I agree with Mimi. I also never heard of Nick until he married Mariah. I supported their marriage because she was clearly very happy for the first couple years. I wouldn't mind Nick coming out saying nice things about Mariah on Twitter if she was happy about it but I think the lyrics in infinity make it clear that she doesn't want him to do that. "Ain't no false pretense", "ain't no being friends" are key indications to me that she doesn't want him to and maybe she thinks it's fake. Obviously that's my interpretation and I could be wrong. And honestly when Nick first finally defended her on Twitter after the split rumours had been out for a while I really think he just did that out of obligation because he was really defending the first girl the media had paired him up with. He ended that whole Twitter speech defending that woman. (I can't remember her name.) He probably thought it would look bad for him to break his silence to defend only another woman and not Mariah too. Again it's just my opinion and I could just be biased lol.

You know I always love your posts so much so it does make me feel bad that I am writing something that differs from your opinion, so I hope you don't take it personally. About Nick, while it's true he didn't say anything about MC publicly, he did go on joking about her in his shows even after MC went on and on about how she wants him to stop, he didn't say anything when his father made those disgusting statements supposedly directed at MC, he talked about his past sexual partners (when he could have refused to do so, I mean it's fine for a bachelor to say those not a married father of 2). As for him being famous before Mariah, I personally never heard his name before MC. I am also not hearing his name after MC except for when he mentions her name, or when he is grinding around (and Mc's name is dragged in) and when he is trying to cover MC's tattoo with an elabborate Jesus one. (Not saying he should keep the tattoo of MC though.. Anyways all this aside, good luck to all the parties involved. And love to you.

I respect your opinion as well and I get what and why you're saying it, but some of what you stated is untrue. First of all those gigs are still coming through despite the divorce. You all forget that he was making moves before Mariah. Second of all Nick has defended Mariah plenty of times during her rough year. The media tried to bait him into saying bad things about her bad performances and he defended her. I have not heard him say anything remotely disrespectful about her since he filed for divorce. Everything bad that I've heard is purely rumors and speculation from both sides. My point is that he should be saying things like this in public. Not for us, but for the benefit of his kids. Right now they don't understand what's going on, but when they get older they will understand and the last thing they need to see is their mom and dad acting a fool on social media or anywhere else taking shots at each other. Those kids will already have to deal with the other junk that comes with having famous parents. They don't need the two people who obviously love them airing out the negative stuff in public. Having said all of that, I'm not sure what his intentions really are. I can only hope he's doing it for the right reason.

Am I the only one who has noticed that RaeRae has been missing? What do you guys think happened? Do you think MC fired her? After reading the Mail Online interview, I feel so much compassion for Mariah. It explains why she wasn't promoting MIAM and why she was isolated during that period.

I agree with you about the hospital. I know MC said that she told him to go back to finish the video, but really how important is a video when your wife has suffered an injury which was apparently equivalent to get hit by a bus. Plus the video was never even released, so it wasn't that important after all and I think Nick can afford the best out there to edit the video while he stood by his wife while she got the scare of having to probably live with a paralyzed hand. In all honesty, I think MC said she told Nick to leave because she was saving face for herself and her marriage. Would anyone of you here leave your loved ones (even if they told you to) and go and finish a darn video if you knew that they were in a world of pain and at the risk of never recovering? Ethan, about her body, she lost all the weight before she met Nick. She got thin around 2007 while she dated Nick around 2008, so the weight theory is something I am not sure about. But well Nick's dad did indirectly say "How can a man love his woman when he can't stand to look at her?" Cheap dig.

I respect your opinion, but I still stand by mine. Where is all this love coming from all of a sudden? All the time MC was being blasted by the media the last year, Nick never came to her defense. There were no lovey-dovey notes left for her for the world to see. Nick's move is very calculative this time around. While the diss record got rave reviews, many people are also calling out Mariah for dissing the father of her children, so in comes Nick with all the love in the world because he knows he'll make headlines as the ex husband who is still respecting his ex-wife and posting one lovey-dovey thing after another while his "arrogant wife is dissing him publicly". Just another way to show he is the bigger person. I am sorry but no, I don't believe all these crap. MC is not perfect but I believe her when she says implicitly that Nick has put her through a lot of pain. Nick just probably thought that now that he has so many gigs lined up, he no longer needs MC. But since the divorce how much have we really heard about Nick except for when he is talking about MC? Even his hook ups are only getting media time because Mariah's name is coming into it. It is what it is. This is just Nick's way of getting media attention. When they got divorced, the majority of people said "good riddance for Nick, it must be hell to live with that demanding woman" because Nick always maintains an image that he is loving and caring and is "putting up" with MC's demands because he loves her. He was always portrayed as the victim and the bigger person. So now he is trying to do the same again, to show he is above MC because he doesn't have to diss her. But flashback to a few months earlier, what kind of respectable man drags his ex-wife's and mother of his children's name to a song where he is talking about banging multiple girls? He made headlines when he was promoting MC's song "Infinity" but really he had no idea it was about him. MC said so herself that even her good friends didn't hear the song until it was released. Like I said, I will honor your opinion, but I will still stand by mine and that is NC is only going public with his "over-flowing affection" because his gigs are drying up. He wants the attention of the media and he wants the attention of MC.

I disagree. I think it's commendable for Nick to respect Mariah in public despite how he may really feel. She basically made a whole song dissing the crap out of him (we all know it's about him despite what she says) and he's handling it well by not blasting her in public because of the kids. Alot of men would not be so nice. Showing respect to the mother of your children is in no way pathetic. It's what he should be doing. Ethan, Nick was not at her side in the hospital because she told him to stay and edit the Beautiful remix video. He tried to come but she made him stay. She has said that in several interviews after the fall happened.

I agree. I never really liked either song, though LTT did grow on me lately. IDWC has always been too soppy for my taste. But what she did with it in Vegas is amazing. I don't think even Mariah knew how to interpret the song or where it could go, until now. I also can't get over that whistle on DFAU. It's like she added a completely different paragraph/storyline to the song. The inherent yearning in the arrangement of the notes simply shows how much of a musical genius she is. I love this era. This is the comeback we have all been waiting for. I hope I get to see her in July.

Mariah's personal life and Vegas' dresses (53,180)
by Ethan from United States

Here's my conspiracy theory. As elusive and secretive she is, I feel like she's been dropping hints. First, one and only "Looking In" performance only a few days after she fell. It's interesting to see there were no pictures of Nick by her side (in the hospital, when she was discharged and so on) whereas when he was sick, she was by his side (on the hospital bed). Then comes the MIAM album. I don't think it's quite a coincidence. Every marriage has its ups and downs and only they know what's truly going on. Looking back, she was at her thinnest at 2008. I feel like she was trying to please Nick. I mean I can understand that if I was her, I'd feel to look fit all the time with the man 11 years younger who's constantly working out and having a 6-pack abs. I would feel insecure and not confident all the time. After the pregnancy, I'm sure it's hard for her to get back in shape and maintain it while raising two children. Yes there are nannies but in the end she's a mother and she still takes care of them more or less. I wish there's a video version of the Daily Mail interview to see her facial and body expressions when she talked about it. It's heartbreaking. I completely understand of what she said "If you cry you're not going to stop crying." It's so true. She must have cried when the kids weren't around or in the bathroom or something. And to the pink dresses, please change them to the red one you were on top of Empire State building promoting YME or the black Versace dress.

Can we just take a minute to recognize how great Mariah did on the performances of these two songs and how remarkably well they've aged? 25 years and still slaying. Two ballads written without Walter Afanasieff and two of her greatest. It feels absolutely awesome to hear her sing these two old songs after so much time. They suit her current voice really well, let's hope as the tour continues she will sing the entire songs.

Unplugged version (53,177)
by Tevin from USA
| |

|
If the rumors are correct about Mariah performing Emotions at the BBMA we should flood her Twitter, Facebook, message boards like this one, instagram, asking her to do the unplugged intro to it like she did during the Chanteuse tour. That will shut every hater up about her not being able to sing anymore, and it will show everyone in the audience (looking at you Katy Perry) that no one can sing like Mariah. Anybody with me on this?

Pure Imagination (53,176)

I had one of my crazy Mariah dreams this morning. It had to do with her BBMA performance. It was a video playing on giant monitors and she got in a limo. You could only see her when the street lights shined through the window as the limo drove on, but it was her through the years changing hair/clothing styles. She started off by singing really low (like in a man's register) and I didn't hear what she was singing because it didn't sound like Emotions. Then I realized it was Side Effects without YJ. It was all her very mellow and sorta torch song, then it turned. She was suddenly on stage and live. The song turned into this uptempo gut-wrenching pop song. And she was on stage solo, almost just a silhouette in a black, sleeveless, sequined dress, her hair in an uncharacteristically curly up-do. The screen around the stage projecting the one side of her face that was lit as she sang. She shinned, soared, and left it all on the stage. I didn't know what to make of this version of the song because I love the original so much, but I was in a trance. Her appearance confused me, but everything else had me in awe. I woke up right then practically clapping and with tears in my eyes. I still get emotional thinking about it. Here's hoping Mariah had an amazing Mother's day. And Happy Mother's Day to all of you it applies to.

Just been talking to the boss of the celeb shop, she said Mariah had seen the merchandise and is pissed it's so bad. No programs still. Haha it's so hilarious seeing Nick continuously trying to get Mariah's attention. I mean at first it was annoying, but now it's just so pathetic that I can't help but laugh. While I respect that they both are keeping things civil for the kids, I am happy that MC has decided to no longer be in that cloud of confusion anymore. Her interview showed that she has decided to put that chapter behind her and that she is not interested in it anymore. That and also how she always gives very short but polite answers when they ask her about Nick. I mean she doesn't have to go out of her way and praise him to show that all is fine. Her main focus is her kids not getting affected by the divorce so she really doesn't have to bother letting the world now how "buddy-buddy" she is with Nick. It's just not necessary and it's not true either because obviously MC still doesn't like the idea of him being a part of her life but she is sacrificing that for the kids' benefit. Nick on the other hand needs to constantly keep talking about MC, constantly "@-ing" at her. The gigs are probably drying up for him. I don't even feel bad saying that because he was the one who broke her heart and filed for divorce. MC was right when she said "lost the best you ever had" because it is so true, he may get younger girls, hotter girls (although I have yet to see one) but he will never get anyone again who is a celebrity of Mariah's level. I can bet on that. So Nick just shoo away and let the woman heal her heart.

As a fan since 1997, "Butterfly" era, I knew Mariah as a hard working person. So I knew there was something wrong in her private life since the shoulder injury and the divorce drama. Because after AI, Mariah was back in full force, looking hot and slim in the "#Beautiful" video. And the single was perfect. Last year was not easy for Mariah, her label didn't support her, the shoulder injury, divorce, copy cat Ariana, management changes, the album postponed, fans who losed faith. But I always stay true as a fan, Mariah did so much since she saw the light of day as a singer. I knew this interview would come.

Mail Online interview (53,171)

That is one of the best, most heartfelt interviews she's done in years. It reminded me why I admire and identify with her as strongly as I do. That's the Mariah you can relate to. It's not easy for her to open up like that I'm sure. I think she's very brave. I really feel for her and the kids. Divorces are difficult. My parents divorced when I was 5 and it messed me up almost completely. It must hit her even harder because her parents divorced when she was the same age as Roc and Roe. But one thing is for sure and that is that there's no keeping Mariah down for long. She's an eternal optimist and a strong person. She chooses to smile, to work, to put her kids first. That's one of the things I admire most about her.
