Abraham / my thoughts (52,589)
by Edward from USA

Abraham, I hadn't conveyed my feelings on "Infinity" because I honestly didn't even know what to say. I listened to it and I was like: What the hell just happened? For some strange reason I felt like listening to "Don't Forget about Us" after. I gave it a few more plays and I still wasn't feeling it. It's definitely not single material. The production is messy as if it was a rushed project. "Infinity" doesn't flow smoothly, the different takes are evident. By no setting high expectations I guess I thought I would be pleasantly surprised, but I wasn't. She picks one song, just one song to be added to a collection of #1 hits, and that song comes out to be just a filler. For the remixes I hope she doesn't default to the rap formula, there are many great artist she could collaborate with. I hate to say it, but "Triumphant" vintage remix is way better than "Infinity". I wasn't expecting perfection, but I wasn't expecting mediocrity either. I'm happy to know though that non-fans seem to like the song. I hope she cracks the Billboard top 15, but unlike other times I'm not checking on iTunes or on the charts. I won't force myself to like something that I don't obviously like just because it is a Mariah's song.

I voted for your essay. I hope you get the financing you need. That's been an issue for me as well. I have student loans that total up to a brand new luxury car. My only incentive to go to grad school is just to defer my payments. I might just take some online classes at my old community college because the cost is so inexpensive. With two degrees I don't feel like a third will really help but put me more in debt - lol.

There's no way she won't be lip syncing. I called that a long time ago. In fact what you asked for, is exactly what she will be doing. I wish she would re-arrange her songs more with unplugged, sparse arrangements that she could sing in lower keys to fit her current voice. An emotional, beautiful show would be nice. But that's not MC and that's definitely not Vegas.

So it's not ok to call the people who like Infinity blind, but it's ok to call the people who don't like the song haters? How is that fair? You can't demand that people respect you and your opinions if you are doing the same thing. We all have the right to express our opinions without all the name calling.

LC / Skip / genuine question (52,584)

LC, I voted for your essay. Cheers to you for putting yourself out there. I just applied to go back to Grad school, so I can relate. Keep us posted. Skip, I love your edit so much. Thank you for sharing your talents. I was thinking about this earlier when I read a post by a longtime poster here. My intentions and my question is completely genuine, I'm not singling anyone out or labeling anyone a "bad fan" I'm just really curious. If you are someone who is really frustrated with the music Mariah has released over the last few years, annoyed, irked, disappoined, upset or angry with the way she carries herself, what she does, what she says, her voice, ect, then what is in it for you? If any of the above is genuinely where you are at with things, isn't it complete and total unpleasant torture?

Oh my days. I'll Be There is literally on the radio (Smooth FM) as I type this. She sounds so good on the airwaves. Unplugged is my favourite album and I'll Be There is of course a favourite. Her version just eclipses the original in so many ways. Oh this is heaven.

Skips re-edit to Infinity (52,581)

After many listens today, I can't stop with the praise. This version enhances the power behind this song. The musicality of it makes so much sense and you can hear the crescendos and the climaxes, the instrumentation is beautiful in your version. It really tells a story this way and it even has dynamics that I think get lost in the released version. I really hope someone gets ahold of your mix and it gets out there. I'll say it again, anyone that wasn't into the original, this is like a totally different song.

Vegas residency setlist (52,579)
by Ethan from United States

Does it mean that she will only sing 19 songs? It sounds like it from the interviews, chronologically order and ends with Infinity. I hope she will incorporate some acoustic versions and Can't Let Go in first segment with the first 4 #1s. She loves that song and it's one of her old hits besides Vision Of Love and Emotions that she sang live recently. We haven't heard I Don't Wanna Cry and Someday since early 90s. I just hope the show is a bit longer with a few more songs. But looking at the title of show, it sounds like #1s to Infinity. The end.

I love your edit also. I like how you made the second verse the first and vice versa. I like how you made the outro different. I'm wondering: what program did you use to edit the song? I have my picture of Mariah and The Rock. I hope Mariah finds a man like that. The Rock is mature, noble and handsome.

Hi everyone, this is LC. This post has nothing to do with Mariah but I just wanted to ask you all for a huge favor. I'm going to college next year and I need scholarship money to help pay for tuition. If you have the time, please go to this website to vote for my essay. The deadline to vote is tomorrow (May 1) and though they do select an additional 10 candidates besides the top 10 most voted for, every vote helps. Please help a lamb out if you can and vote for my essay. Thank you all to Infinity. I hope we can Make It Happen.

Criticism (52,576)
by Luke from United Kingdom
| |
|
|
Just because some people aren't always criticizing Mariah doesn't mean they're blind. I see many things that she and her team could improve on but what is the point in worrying about it? If I was her close friend it would be different and I would voice my criticism, but I'm not. I like seeing her as a normal person just enjoying life. There are going to be fans that probably do ingore mishaps or things going wrong but that is up to them, but don't generalise every positive and non-criticizing fan as "blind". None of us can even begin to understand what it must be like having so many people "criticizing" your every move.

I'm catching up on the interviews from her arrival in Vegas and I love what she's projecting. She's so cute. The see-through sparkly gown is so Mariah and it looks great on her. She seems like the same fun and easy-going Mariah from before.

Vegas shows (52,570)
by Mirage_Nunez from America

I'm not expecting any thumbs up for this, but I have to agree with Mus on this. I will take it a step further and say I actually hope Mariah prerecord her vocals for the Vegas show and lip the hell outta of them. Don't get it twisted, in a perfect world ofcourse I would live if Mariah sings and nails all the hits 100% live, but we know singing 19 songs with different variations of vocal demand would be a challenge for anybody night after night. So personally I rather see conviencing lip sycing over her struggling night after night, as long as she mixes it up each night with singing a few songs live and really focus on giving a great visual production with grand entrances, costume changes, working the stage, dancers, glitter bombs, and every other over the top stunt they can pull. It's Vegas baby, you just have to put on a fabulous elaborate show and people will eat it up.

What the heck. Your edit is incredible. I think you managed to pinpoint what felt off about the song, which is it was hard to follow where Mariah was going with the different inflections and it just was too much. Your version streamlines it. When I first heard the original where she goes. Also your outro is life. It's perfect.

Kyle, you're so right on this issue, I couln't have said it better. Lately it seems like many so called fans are the biggest haters. Maybe time for them to pick another favourite artist and let Mariah do what she does best in her own way? Infinity is the kind of song we can expect from Mariah and this is the kind of music I love her for.

Hi fellow lambs. Loving this new song, have been drilling it into my head. "Close the door, lose the key, leave my heart on the mat for me." Love it. While the vocals are a bit uneven and muddled/airy in some parts, I do feel that more spot on production (a la "Emancipation" or "Chanteuse") could have made up for that in areas of the song. Nonetheless, I am in the camp of just enjoying that we have a new offering and hopeful that a broader audience will get to hear and enjoy it as well. Be good to yourselves and others.

Love the edit. I honestly think it flows better, especially at the beginning. Many songs start out with the chorus then head into the first verse. To me those extra lyrics st the beginning seemed out of place. Can you send me an mp3. I have hundreds of MC mp3s if you want to trade. daydreamer.butterfly@gmail.com. Thanks.

Mariah doesn't know if Boyz II Men are still her friends? (52,565)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |

Pretty poignant that neither Wanya nor Shawn have reached out to Mariah, never mind Nate after his Facebook hate rant. It's like, why you mad? At 3:00 during an interview with Brian Anthony Hernandez of Mashable: #1, I bet you'll have special guest performers during your residency. Mariah: I bet I would love to if they would join me. I don't know. Mashable: Do you think maybe Boyz II Men, since they have a residency here? Mariah: I would hope so. I would love to see Boyz II Men. I don't know if they're still my friends. I mean, I live for them. The Periscope app is flawed in continuity so the last part of Mariah's responce is somewhat lost but still, it's very nice to hear Mariah state her own opinion. I just love how she was so free of rancor, very Zen and typical of her tbh. It just further proves how out of the blue their about faces have been. I guess Infinity really does apply to quite a few situations apart from Thirsty. *Plays Infinity* Duh.
