Oh my gosh, I had completely forgotten about that horrid photo shoot. It did her no good. The shots were really bad minus the cover photo. And just today someone reminded me about the extreme low budget (or absolutely no budget) video for Auld Lang Syne. I know someone here said they like the video. Look, I love MC but that video was horrid (all caps). I can't imagine how humiliated MC must have felt shooting for that video especially when she is used to getting big budgets for her videos. I think "burden" is the best way to describe their feelings towards Mariah. After Reid left, no one gave a crap about her. I think at one point both parties were just releasing albums to get done with the contract. I feel bad for blaming the lack of promotions completely on MC. I mean, yes she might be blamed partially, but I guess it's not easy to go from being the star, to a "burden" where you clearly get the vibe that you are not quite welcome here and that they'd much rather spend money on new and fresher "talents" (if one can call them talents, that is).

Off the top of my head: Heartbreaker, TGIFY (both original and remix), Loverboy, AIWFCIY, Oh Santa. That billion dollar smile is quite rare on the covers though. Oh and Memoirs.

You've put what I thought into words. I could never put my finger on what it was about IDJ, but you're right, they did treat Mariah like a burden. It felt like they were always saying "Well, I guess we could give her some promotion. Chuck a photoshoot with a pervy photographer whilst your at it."

Mariah on vinyl / Edward (52,207)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
To those of you asking about Mariah vinyl, there is a website called musiconvinyl.co.uk that takes requests to reproduce albums on vinyl. They apparently take all suggestions seriously, and I'm sure if enough people requested the same album (like a group of fans agreed on the one album of Mariah's they'd want reproduced on HQ 180g vinyl) then you could all request it to get it noticed. The vinyl they produce on is much higher quality and heavier than that used for mass production with the original releases. More resistant to scratches and warping etc. Edward, thanks for the offer. That taping is also available on Sound Cloud, uploaded by the Mariah Network (they also uploaded the undubbed MTV Unplugged concert with a second take of Emotions and If It's Over messing up). Love the Infinity cover, Mariah looks beautiful as always.

Smile (52,205)
by Will from England

|

Just a thought that came into my mind: excluding #Beautiful (mainly because that was a screenshot from the video), when was the last time a Mariah single cover featured her smiling? It has always been a moody/sultry pout. All I'm coming up with is "Someday" but that can't be right lol. Excluding screenshots from the videos in general.

Good single cover, check. That's at least one thing out of the way. Now waiting for amazing song, strong sales, and positive reception. Fingers crossed. Side note: wouldn't it be really nice if some celebs - it doesn't even matter who they are - would tweet about the song release or how much they love the song? That would give some much needed push especially if they have millions of followers. Or I really hope some celebrity lambs make a video lip-synching to Infinity. That propelled Call Me Maybe to the top, and seems to be keeping Carly's I Really Like You on iTunes. I mean yeah, it's not original, but we need all the help we can get.

Epic / Sony (52,201)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I absolutely love the fact that Sony is backing up Mariah and that too quite strongly. From tweeting about her to staging social event reveals and keeping a the mystery around the new single. They are treating Mariah the way Mariah needs to be treated. IDJ on the other hand was treating Mariah like she was a burden. Which I think ultimately lead Mariah to lose confidence and give up on her projects. This is just a compilation album and yet it is getting more attention than her past few studio albums. I am so happy for Mariah. Epic seems to understand that they have a gem in their hands. Today's generation grew up listening to crap in the name of music. Mariah can change that. Only she (apart from the legendary King of Pop) has the ability to introduce this generation to great music even after so many years.

No Photoshop? (52,200)

Guys, I love the single cover and I love Mariah, but the people who are saying that it uses little to no photoshop are deluded. It's photoshopped to the nines. Either way, I think it's a really cute cover. Nice to see her smile.

The Tattoo Club session from 1990's live (52,199)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I got my hands on the Unplugged mini concert Mariah gave at the Tattoo Club back in 1990. Here's the track listing: 1. Introduction (1:25) 2. Love Takes Time (4:03) 3. Someday (Closer To All Your Dreams) (4:26) 4. Vision Of Love (3:44) 5. Mariah introduces Richard Tee (0:36) 6. Vanishing (4:54) 7. Don't Play That Song (3:09) Since this hasn't been released commercially, I don't think it would constitute piracy if I share it with those fans who would like to listen. Those interested, let me know with an email where to send it.

Loving this new single cover. This era is giving me good vibe after good vibe. She's finally with a team that is not going to sit back and let her image fall to pieces. I'm so happy to see what this era has in store.

I was just watching the We Belong Together video on a big screen for the first time and I noticed, at the very end, when she's getting into the car and the camera is behind her, it's so clearly a stand-in in a wig. The blonde curls? Oh my gosh. It made me laugh. I love that song still. Timeless.

Way to go Epic / Infinity single cover (52,196)

The label is really making it clear they are behind Mariah. I love it. Pushing for the single the last little while more than IDJ was willing or able to do. I think the single art is lovely. I can't wait for Monday. Thanks Lee for posting the link to the dancers doing Honey. So cute. Everything is looking good.

Is that the official cover? If it is it's her best single cover since Touch My Body. This picture looks like Mariah, no visible photoshop. Should have been the album cover.

Promo (52,192)
by Zaydream from U.S

I'm amazed with all the promotional push MC and Epic are doing, I have a great feeling Infinity do very well. Also in my opinion Epic has done more promotion for this single than IDJ has for her last couple albums. It is really true "thunder precedes the sunlight" and where are all those "lambs" that were counting MC out a few months ago?

Lovely to see a recent cover MC is smiling on (not counting Beautiful because you don't get to see her wonderful eyes). Was the last one Christmas Time Is In The Air? I think that looks like a fake smile though. She looks so genuine for Infinity.
