All things considered (50,007)

Mariah's marriage was imploding while she was working on MIAMTEC. The lyrics are the writing on the wall. I think she postponed the album because of her issues with Nick. Her confidence was shaken by his betrayal. Her voice continued to improve as the Chanteuse tour went on and then she nailed her Beacon shows. The only really bad performance was Rockefeller. She was lipping at Jamacia Jazz so we don't know what state her voice is in at the moment. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 15:46)

Cry song / Glitter times (50,005)
by May from Denmark
I haven't seen that video before Lee, thanks. Cry is such a wonderful song, some of the songs in that album are real master pieces. Contains lots of her signature melodies, her unique style always shows. A shame such beautiful songs are like hidden for the general public now because the album fell in obscurity. It's like Glitter, just because it garnered bad fame due to the movie a lot of people don't even give the album a chance, I think Glitter was a phenomenal album, lots of danceable songs and up lifting beats, also a whole new theme for Mariah and in that era she looked her sexiest and probably her only "raunchiest" too (if we could put a name to it) with all the buttocks coming out of her shorts, the see-bit of boobie coming out of her crop tops and the super extra tight skimpy suits, sexy over the top poses and the tan lines (exclamations) I think it's the only time I've ever seen her so extroverted, and yet, she never got to the Rhianna or Miley raunchy level. Mariah needs to rediscover herself, find herself a new era, enjoy her age, her kids, find passion for her own music again and be the protagonist, I feel she gives too much space to others lately in her own songs. She needs one big collab/duo and the rest signature solo songs. I still feel Triumphant was a waste of a great song, the parts that she sings are so good, that song had potential. Thank you very much for posting those videos. I was wondering when someone else was going to upload the rest of her catalog of the night. The sound was great, better than other clips out there so no worries about it. Now I understand what was that candy she ate in the middle of the "Shake it off" lyrics, before hitting "My All" she said she was having some medicine for her throat. It was obvious her voice was gone that night and cracked, her chest vocal was fine for some of the songs, she just couldn't go high and was somewhat off tune for some time, in almost all the lip synch parts she was late to pick up the lines that night. I don't know anymore what exactly is going on with her voice but I wished she would be publicly sincere about it. Sometimes it's there sometimes it's not. It's clear emotionally she is very hurt still, I guess doesn't help, the adlibs at times, the change of lyrics in some songs to fit her current mood, etc. give a lot of hints. Hopefully for the Vegas show her voice will be on point like in the NYC Beacon one. I agree with Shelly that her blue dress was very pretty, I liked the back of it. I loved very much the see-through black dress she had, she is looking very fit. Her "Make it happen" performance made me remember the 2009 Today Show one where her voice was also in that state, she avoided the power notes and let the choir take over. It didn't sound terrible tho, just not great. Bye Jamaica, moving on. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 10:49)
Abraham / Diane Warren (50,003)
by Orkun from The Netherlands
I like your idea of penning with another artist. Sia is cool. I personally would prefer Adele. If I'm correct, Mariah wrote "Can't That Away From Me" with Diane Warren and it was perfect indeed. [Webmaster: Mariah and Diane Warren wrote three songs together: "After tonight", "Can't take that away (Mariah's theme)", and "There for me".] (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 9:54)

The Grammy's suck. Then again, so does the World Music Awards, for the last few years. They created a category just to give Mariah an award, for ratings. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 7:45)

I was thinking that it's time Mariah wrote a song with another female song writer like Sia. The woman can write and sing. I could definitely see Mariah and her producing something together. Also just hit me, why hasn't Mariah ever worked with Diane Warren? She's written a lot of amazing songs. It's crazy that after all this time they've never worked together. Jamaica (49,999)
by Darryle from USA
After viewing some of the other videos I've decide the whole show was a mess. #Beautiful's whistles were clearly either playback or meant to be lipped because Mariah's mic was on and she was singing over them but at the end she waved her hand as if she were doing a whistle. There was also way too much talking in VOL. I understand that you can get into the song but at points it seemed like Mariah was about to go on a mini tangent. I think it's best to forget Jamaica and move onto Vegas. Remember her mistakes but forget the show. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 4:05)

The Grammy's (49,996)
by jaker20 from US
The whole time I'm watching the show, I was thinking of MC. It's so weird. Not because I know MC is more talented than most people in that room, but I also kept thinking that MC has not really given a mind-blowing performance in a big stage such as The Grammy's since 2006 after her TEOM year. I feel MC has really hit rock bottom these past few years. Rihanna was there singing her heart out. She can never touch MC's voice, but she was there singing live and performing. Madonna was there. She arrived and ruled the charts for a full decade before MC, yet she's also outlived MC's career. Beyonce was there, she arrived in the music scene a mere 7 years after MC, yet there she is closing the biggest show in music, nominated for multiple categories and still very much a major player. MC's career is not irreparable, not everything is lost. But it definitely makes me think MC's career sunk faster and sooner than I though it would. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 3:32)

Uh, where have you been? A lot of us have already given some ideas on what Mariah should do. She needs to find herself, work on her voice, get a new image and get a new sound. She needs to work with some other great song writers. I think if Mariah recorded songs with Bruno Mars, Sam Smith or any other hit artist. It would definitely help make her album even better. I am offended that Beyonce managed to snatch a Grammy for a trash song like "Drunk in love" when "Beautiful" got nada. As someone stated, now that Mariah is back with L.A Reid and Sony, he will be strict and guide her in the right direction. She needs someone who will be tough will her. I know she most definitely can have another successful comeback and hit album. It's really all up to her. She has to want it and believe in herself. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 1:59)
Meteorite (49,994)
by B from USA
If Mariah had released Meteorite with remixes by Calvin Harris and David Morales with resung vocals and a video by a big name director she would have scored a huge hit. She still could if she decided to rerecord it with Calvin Harris and release it as a single to promote the reissue of #1's and MIAMTEC at the same time. She is still a genius songwriter and vocalist. She's just not comfortable on stage and it's obvious. Her nerves are bound to affect her voice. She still slays everyone in the studio. Her harmonies and background vocals are two of the things I look forward to everytime she releases a song or album. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 1:40)
The Grammy's (49,993)
by B from USA
The fact that Mariah Carey has never won Record, Song, or Album of the Year is insane. The Grammy's failed to nominate Mariah Carey's latest album Me. I am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse which was praised by critics. MIAMTEC should have won Best Pop Vocal Album because she is The Voice. Beyonce won. Best R&B Song for Drunk In Love? Seriously? The disrespect was palpable in 2006. The show was promoted with the headline Comeback Queen Mariah Carey leads with 8 nominations and then they give her her awards off camera? #Beautiful with Miguel was huge. It sold over a million copies and deserved a nomination. I haven't watched since 06 and won't unti the rectify their blantant discrimination against MC proably stemming from her marriage to Tommy. Vocal preservation, lip syncing (49,992)
by Heinrich from South Africa
The type of vocal power/gymnastics that Mariah displays in that SNL performance and pretty much her entire catalogue, is not just taxing on ones vocal chordes, but physically it also requires a lot of stamina and endurance. Now, if Mariah was doing vocal recitals in a theatre, I would find her lipping and using a backtrack inexcusable, but clearly this is not the case. Trust me, belting Mariah Carey songs for two hours, on a outdoor stage, under scorching stage lights, while having to move around is not easy and can easily lead to vocal injury. We've seen this happening with the Daydream tour, hence the lipping becoming more apparent afterwards. In fact, I think the biggest thing holding Mariah back as a live singer now, is the phycological side effects of her past vocal injuries. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 1:22)

Thoughts (49,989)
by clueey23 from USA
I think MC should just continue to take her time. I couldn't imagine being her. The hurt the pain and everything. I think she should keep pushing forward. It's obvious for anyone who took the time to watch her last concert she was actually in good voice. And to be serious MC needs a new team of about every aspect when it comes to behind the curtain. And I need MC to take rehearsals serious. And we can still get a beautiful production. I thought the Merry Christmas concert stage was beautiful. And that's what we need, more of a production to tell the story of the song being sung. A great example of this was Sia last night at the Grammys. We never see her, ever. But with this performance she brought the video to the stage. MC can do this. She needs some of us on this message board to pitch some serious ideas. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 0:06)
The Grammy's / today's music sucks (49,988)
by Ardis Logic from Earth
So you guys keep mentioning "The Grammy's" so here is my 2 cents. The Grammy's and today's music is crap. Not many people can sing very good without computerized effects. Ariana Grande? I don't see what the big deal is. She is nothing close to what Mariah did in her prime. The only person who sang pretty good was Lady Gaga and I am not a fan at all but she is talented and sounded pretty good. I can't stand Beyoncé, "they" kiss her ass way too much and it's sickening. Madonna? Yuck. Katy Perry is ok but I just think, over all, music today sucks. That is all. (Tuesday 10 February 2015; 0:04)
If It's Over / imperfection (49,986)
by Luke from United Kingdom
TJ that definitely is one of her best performances. I love the Grammys performance more though because of the glamour. I don't think much went wrong with her voice in the late 90's, except her confidence started wavering. All through the beginning of her career she almost had this guarantee that she could deliver well. Even when she was sick she sounded good. However, since her voice began to develop into a husky imperfect tone, she seemed to lose that confidence. Apart from rare occasions like at the Beacon when she knows her voice is in good shape, her insecurities seem to get the better of her. It's pretty obvious that she's a perfectionist which might explain so much lip-synching. She didn't need that at the beginning because her voice was almost perfect, which is what she's known for. It's easier to push your insecurities aside when you're younger. She just needs to realise that people like to hear the raw, imperfect chanteuse that lies somewhere in her. Re: The Truth /dDeeper issues stay with you (49,985)
by Ardis Logic from Earth
I don't know why you keep saying that I have personal issues. Maybe you are the one with the personal issues since you keep bringing that up. Is something I said hitting a nerve of yours? In that case I would advise you to seek the help you need. I have worked with abused/neglected children at a children's shelter, and have learned a lot about family dysfunction and personality disorders. That is why I am able to see things that others might not recognize. Family issues will stay with you throughout your life if you do not work on healing and dealing with them. I notice some of these things in Mariah. The only reason I brought up her family is because MCArchives posted an article about her brother who just so happens to be a "family" member. As a fan I care about Mariah and can see that she is obviously having a hard time in her life right now. Some of her personal problems could be caused by things in her past that she is still dealing with or has been traumatized by but never got over. Those issues will continue to cause problems for her unless she faces them and finally tries to deal. I have a feeling that she running from the pain and this is why we see her having issues throughout her life. That doesn't mean that I am 100% right. Just going by what I feel and see. That is just my opinion. I don't know what that bothers you so much but like I said maybe you are the one who needs the help. Hopefully we can move on from this topic now.
