B / Honey part II (52,564) by Mara from United States
I think you are exactly right. Didn't we see somewhere that Mariah was going to do some impressive stunts or be put in "dangerous" positions? Maybe her and Brett waited for her to arrive in Vegas to film because she may be using some of Vegas as her backdrop. I thought someone mentioned a helicopter and wasn't a helicopter used in Honey? I think that theme goes with the song lyrics and would be a bit therapeutic for her to use almost as an ending to "that chapter" of her life as well. Cannot wait for this video now. As far as the song, knowing she wrote it specifically for this residency makes more sense. Even the way the music stops at the ending and the way it begins back up with the violins. It is a show ending song. She knows what she is doing. I wish her luck and will pray her opening night, she kills it. She needs her fans to support her right now. But back to the video, they really need to release it yesterday to keep the momentum going.

Infinity (52,563) by Matini from United States
First off, I'd like to put it out there that I have been lurking on this board for quite a long time. I'm a shy person, so never post, but I wanted to say that it makes me so happy to see a lot of the lambs on this board love Infinity as much as I do. Of course, there are some lambs who do not like it, but I feel like the lambs who do love it outweigh the ones who don't. I love pretty much anything Mariah puts out. She is the only artist (in my eyes) who can consistently put out great music/albums. Obviously, there will be songs/albums that I like more than others, but the point is, Mariah never disappoints me. Back to "Infinity". Mariah is a genius. I love the witty lyrics and I love how she sings them. I also love the structure of this song because it is so different. This song is full of surprises. My mother who raised me on Mariah's music even loves this song. Then again, she loves most of Mariah's music anyway. Regardless of how this song performs, it will always be #1 in my eyes, just like "You're Mine (Eternal)". I just wanted to quickly rave about this song and spread my love for Mariah. Carry on, lambs.

Infinity (52,561) by Wonwon from Indonesia
First of all, sorry for my bad English. I like Infinity just like how I like "Honey". It mean I never really can get in with the songs like that. But nobody knows about music trends today. So, I think it's not really important if I like or not for Mariah's #1 hit. I hope Infinity can be her top ten hits or better #1. What I want to say is, if you remember Adele's "Someone like you". It's very big when everything is dance. And positive review is not a must for a big hit. Nobody can predict a hit. I like "Art of letting go" so much. It's the same like how I like "Till the end of time" from Emotions. Infinity is different. The difference make me think of WBT at the first time come out. But not in the same genre. The high not at the end of Infinity will be very good in "house remix" for the dance floor. It will be the climax when played in the club. It's not about good or bad, Infinity will be #1. It's about people like it or not. I like it. Just like I like "Honey".

Boost for Infinity views on YouTube (52,560) by TheOne from Philippines
Hi lambs. I have a suggestion to increase the YouTube views for Infinity. I think it will help Infinity to become a hit. Not just Infinity, but other future singles. First, view the Infinity lyric video in the YT. Then, kill the reload button (make sure the video completely loads before reloading). Every reload is equivalent to 1 view. I post this here because I know this is an active website for Lambily. The Swifties and Directioners (Taylor Swift and One Direction fans) also did this to popularize their idols' songs. And it did work. Promoting gets more different nowadays and my sister is a teenage Swiftie and she tells me how they promote their fave. Just a suggestion though. I hope you all agree.

I wanted to hear something decent. "Infinity" isn't even remotely good. It's tacky and sounds like for a teenager. I honestly don't know what Mariah was thinking writing those lyrics. Marissa's post is spot on. Next song please.

Skip, Infinity re-edit (52,558) by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa
Wow. I have grown to love this song this week. Just last night when listening to it I got a Donna Summers type dramatic upbeat ballad vibe from it. I love it. But the arrangement of this re-edit flows so nicely. Dare I say better than the original? I love the original first verse coming second. I think it is the speed of the lyrics there, they feel better coming after her softer and smoother delivery of "close the door" in her familiar voice. You should try to get these to her peeps, this is such a great radio presentation of the song. Anyone that doesn't love the song yet will love this version. On another note, does anyone else notice that in the lyric video "infinity" is written in the same Thirsty font and I keep seeing the word Thirsty in Infinity when they flash it.

To clarify: I meant people that practice cult of personality have no place in the grown up world. Maybe it sounds like bullying and I apologize if so but it freaks me out people that are totally blind and unable to criticize. I was actually saying that in the context of being happy to see die hard fans having a critical point of view. Again if it felt like bullying I apologize.

JC / voice (52,556) by Musti from UK
It's already in my previous post that I accept the general wear and tear in her voice, that I recognize her voice's limits at the age of 45. Obviously she could do everything with much more ease in her early 20s. Who couldn't? But even as early as 1992, she would have to plan it carefully if she were to sing more than a handful of songs in a night. To this day I still believe that the stark change in her voice starting from Butterfly was due to the way she forced herself during the Daydream tour to impress people after the poor reviews of the Musix Box tour. The way she sang Make It Happen alone throughout the Daydream tour is enough to destroy anyone's voice, let alone the variations she did on songs like Hero, Vision Of Love, etc. Have any of you noticed how she hardly did any whistles during the Daydream tour? She let her chest do the talking and ended up damaging her voice. She didn't really go into the whistle register in most of her live performances until Heartbreaker by which time her voice had recovered, but I think she furthered deepened the gap between her full chest voice and whistle register. Which explains her constant lipping of high chest notes in live performances to save her voice for the whistle in the end (which is where it usually is). I wasn't referring to anyone in particular in my earlier post. Her voice is a recurring topic and I thought some things had to be said.

Opinions are like *** everyone's got one (52,555) by Kyle from USA
No wonder Mariah drinks. If she read all this rubberish on this board about what all the expectations her fans have for her and what they want to hear from her, I'm surprise she hasn't been to AA. You guys complain you want to hear something fresh, she gave it to you. You guys say you want to hear a radio friendly jam, she gave it to you. And, now you're still complaining. The woman can't win. If Mariah were to release any of her #1s from the 90s they wouldn't get any radio play or chart at all, the music scene is a different time now. Is anyone on this board the same person today they were in the 90s? I hope not. And, if you are, then you've never evolved, never experienced, never grew. This amazing woman we come here to discuss has been the soundtrack to our lives. Fan or no fan, everyone has at least one Mariah Carey song they can relate to. Take her "older" catalogue for what it is and enoy it. But don't keep Mariah under a tent and expect her to never change the game (again). Support her.

Mus / voice (52,554) by Tevin from USA
That's is why Mariah is the ulimate vocalist. The way her vocal cords are set up she shouldn't be able to sing or at least sound good, but she had and still has one of the best voices in the world, even with wear and tear. By the way have you ever noticed when Mariah's voice is more hourse and airy like towards the end of concerts her whistles sound and get better.

Infinity re-edit / Bill from UK (52,553) by Skip from United States
Thanks for listening to the Infinity re-edit, Bill. I know what you mean about missing the opening Ooh, Aah's. Since I repeated the "Duh" bridge, I had to lose some things to keep it under four minutes. Plus, when I first heard the song, I felt like it took a while to really get going so I wanted an explosion right at the top. It was just something fun to do, and I'm glad you think it works overall.

Voice at Muss (52,552) by juan from Dubai
I agree with you. Aside from the fact Mimi's voice is special, she is just like all of us. Gets tired, ages and not immune to deterioration. Have a look at singers today who are really singing well. They are having vocal issues at a very young age. They cancel tour and guestings because of tired chords, worse vocal haemorrhage. To name a few: Adele, Ariana, even Sam Smith just today.

Video plus "weight issues" is late video (52,551) by Cgee54 from Usa
I suspect the video wasn't fully recorded because she had body insecurities. Remember everyone is always saying she's fat. I'm assuming that she thought, hey, let me lose some more weight before I record this video. The media is so cruel to her and everyone who have curves which is not fair.

Voice (52,550) by JC from UK
Before anyone jumps for my throat, I'd like to clarify that I was talking about her voice during the interview at Vegas. You've got to be kidding if you tell me you don't sense a hint of wear and tear on her voice when she was speaking. While I've already gotten over the fact that Mariah can only belt like the high heavens whenever she feels like it or once in a blue moon, I think it would be wise to just tone down the notes in the studio and when it comes to singing it live, sing the hell out of it? It's more embarassing for her to release a single that she can never replicate or outdo 100% live, than lip sync for the world to criticise when she gets caught.

Why you mad? (52,549) by Otti from Belgium
When "We belong together" came out, I was thinking this is a new way of singing a ballad, the beat is different and the singing is faster, in Mariah standards. "Through the rain" was a typically Mariah ballad. But did not work in the US. And so is "Infinity", it's "Someday" anno 2015. That's way she is still around. Do you hear something about Celine or Janet? Many non-fans love the lyrics. Thank God, to get Mariah at number one, we need new fans. We lambs should be thankful for what Mariah gives us. It could be different, choosing to live on an island living her life, instead of making music.

Infinity, fans, "fans" etc (52,548) by Shezz from Pk
I was really nervous for Infinity because of the ridiculous hype surrounding it which the label was largely responsible for but I suppose better a label oversells you than pretend you don't exist anyday. I never thought it would be a #1 hit even if it was on par with any of the previous #1s. It had to be a bridge to reintroduce and re-present Mimi to get the general public to give her a chance again. Kind of like "It's like that" paved the way for WBT. Here sadly there's no immediate follow up single to build on the momentum. So I didn't love the song first listen (but I didn't love TMB first listen either but it was catchier and more singable plus Mimi was riding the emancipation wave). I enjoy most of the song except the "infinity eee eee eee" bit in the chorus to be honest. And the "dream" high note in the end seems a little off place. And some places her voice sounds totally muffled and drowned. I'm bewildered how and why that can be allowed to happen. I'd be more than happy if the song charts in the top 20. Baby steps. As for the fans that are criticizing the other fans who are really loving it and feeling it by saying they have no place in the grown up world etc and all sorts of crazy things. You guys need help for trying to enforce your opinions not the other way around. Shout out to the web master for his shout out to Andrew at the end of his message. And shout out to Andrew for being Andrew.

Infinity (52,547) by Dennis from Philippines
Hello everyone. I think the new song will definitely a hit. I've been listening many times and I like it. . Let's support her new single so that it will reach the top. Best wishes for her in her Las vegas residency.

Autotune (52,546) by B from USA
I've been listening to Mariah Carey for twenty years and I haven't noticed any dryness to her voice or the use of autotune. This single is getting raves from non fans and radio is playing it before it's official date which is a good sign. If you don't like Mariah, move on.

Osborne the dolphin (52,545) by rron2mc from Switzerland
Hello everyone, it's my first time posting although I've been following MCA regularly since the Butterfly era. I really enjoy reading all your comments (good and bad ones) and I think it's a great way for us lambs to express our feelings for the one true diva. My love for MC started with her first album back in 1991 and the song that kept me hooked was All In Your Mind. So basically I've been a fan her entire career and, as silly as it sounds I feel connected to her, she's my fabulous big sister who I adore and whose voice has been the soundtrack to most of my life. Feeling very excited these days with all that is going with Infinity, Vegas and so on. Have you all watched the interview in which she declares that Osborne the dolphin is her new best friend? She's amazing and she's hilarious.

Voice / tours (52,544) by Musti from UK
I wish some people, especially fans, would drop the voice issue and just accept it in the condition that it is today. Mariah has always said that she doesn't like touring because it's detrimental to her voice to sing 20 songs night after night for months in a row (watch her interviews during and after the Daydream tour). Her voice, though magnificent, is extremely unique and fragile. Her high and whistle notes come from an unusual configuration of her chords and nodes, not because she sings (or that she can even sing) them in full voice. She's not a natural soprano. She has also said a few times that mostly she doesn't have access to all the octaves/registers of her voice at the same time. In particular, her whistle notes aren't usually there when she's belting in chest voice, unless she is fully rested. Take MTV Unplugged. She got Emotions and Someday out of the way as soon as possible, and at the end she closed with Can't Let Go on a much lower note. She is not superwoman, even her voice has limits, especially at 45. With all the fans' and the public's expectations, we are forcing her to destroy whatever is left of her voice. I truly hope she lips during her residency. I'd much rather have a few more albums of entirely new songs from her than see her waste her voice on past hits.

Thanks. Do you think if the position of Infinity on iTunes will stay at #20-40 the whole week, it can chart on Billboard hot 100 already?

Lyrics (52,542) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
No disrespect to anyone and I appreciate diversified opinions, but I am confused why some are hating on the lyrics mainly "acting corny like Fritos". That line is hilarious and it's the line that is making headlines. My initial problem with the song was the chorus and the "why you're mad, talking about you mad" which now no longer is a problem. I always liked the verses and the witty lyrics. I never felt like she was trying too hard. These lyrics are very Mariah. I also do not completely agree with the statements that it is not up to the level of any of her number 1s. Any is the keyword here. So to that my respond to that is hello? Touch My Body anyone? This song is no WBT or LTT (by which I mean deep). But MC's latest #1 is very much in the same line as Infinity. That's also what she probably meant when she said she wants to sing the #1's chronologically because she wants to show her evolution as a writer. Not only is Infinity like many other (although it is quite fresh) MC songs, it is also right up there with some of her top ten hits like SIO and Obsessed and even Loverboy (I included this because the lyrics weren't exactly deep and it was more of a "fun" record). With Infinity MC takes the fun a little further by making light of her sorrow. I agree with the person who said this is more Mariah than Hero (which we all know she isn't a fan of). This is like a child of SIO and Hero. I know I might get killed for comparing it to the ever sacred "Hero" but it is what it is.

Criticism on Infinity (52,539) by Malcolm from Asia
First of all I truly understand the lambs who criticize this song or Mariah's voice as well, I think it will only stop if MC admit to herself that her voice/tone changed and embrace it. Because for me, "we" are just acting like this because everyone has this high expectation from her that is truly understandable because she is undeniably one of the greatest vocalist of all time and she lives with it but once she accepts her limitations and changes on her voice and sings what she only can, we will be calmer and the rest of the world will accept and love her again. The only formula for that is self acceptance and loving yourself more like what she is saying on this Infinity song, I hope she embodies that.
