One Sweet Day (47,866) by nikki from usa
In her earlier concerts her voice quality had an audible illness to it, but this is different. At this point her cold is gone, but her "struggles" during her belting sounds more like the "Kermit the Frog I just woke up sound" than the "I can't sing like I used to" vocal. I was concerned about her being overly ambitious with this tour by only giving herself 2-3 days in between shows. Two days isn't really "rest" when you're traveling continents and being a full time mom of two. I hope in the future Mariah regresses back to her '96 routine of 1 concert per week or every 5-6 days. Over the course of the past decade Mariah's had some "off" performances, but I think that has more to do with spreading herself too thin. Everyone always brings up back in the '90's, but back then Mariah didn't have to promote anywhere near the degree she has since the internet age took over. A voice change should be expected over 20 years, but I don't think the reality is nearly as bad as most think. This seems to be more of a maintenance issue.

Jesse / Hero (47,865) by Edward from USA
Hi Jesse. You're not new to visiting MCArchives, but since that was your first post, I wanted to say welcome aboard. As for the "Hero" YouTube video you posted, I personally think that Mariah didn't lipsync any part of it, she was actually singing live. Whenever Mariah is about to lipsync to the difficult parts of her songs, she usually does one or a combination of the following: a) Spins around as if she were in a beauty pageant, b) Covers her face with her left arm making it seem as if she were feeling the spirit or waving to the audience, and c) Face the musicians giving her back to the audience momentarily. She doesn't do any of those things when she's confidently singing live.

Walter Afanasieff joins the cast of "Dead To Me" (47,863) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Walter is a douche sexist. He's illiterate to boot. According to him and his yes-men and radio-sycophants, Mariah makes up words like "emblazoned" in the lyrics she writes for her songs. I literally have no words. Who wants to bet he'd be singing to a different tune if Mariah was dumb or desperate enough to let him back in her life? You Wally fangurls need to retire your campaign because this man can only hurt Mariah. He is not pure of heart. All of his so called "tough-love" advise for Mariah is slanderous, belittling, patronizing and just evidences how much he has no respect for her as a full human being. Any shallow regard this idiot has for her is completely anchored in what she can do for him and probably has always been. He's a fairweather friend at best and that's being generous. This backstabber was a Tommy Mottola proxy and by the looks and sounds of it, he wants those days back. He is now as dead to me as dinosaur bones.

Walter (47,862) by Danny Cedar from uk
I think Walter is a pratt. Sorry but he is. Sour grapes and clinging on to the past is all he is. Mariah has moved on and on so many times since Walter.

You'll find the way (47,861) by Jesse from Australia

Hi. This is my first message here even though I've been more than a regular reader of the site since the Emancipation days. Kudos to Eric and fellow lambs for keeping a very good balance of all things in this Mariahism melting pot. Onto the message now, could anyone help enlighten me how the highly debated "lip-on-lip-off" climax is executed here. The texture and tone of the "the voice" during the climax sounds identical to all the other recent performances of the songs. I always thought she pre-recorded the climax, but my, looking this closely, I'm baffled. PS: English is not my first language, but I'm trying my best. Thank you.

Walter back with Pauly and Monks (47,860) by Lee TS from USA
Remember the radio interview Walter gave last year? Here's a recent interview he did with the same radio DJ's. You can watch the open letter from the beginning and skip to 32:00 minute mark when Mariah is brought up. You can either hate it or love it but I'm sure some lambs will be upset. Walter is definitely upset about AIWFCIY, but what I didn't like was him bringing up the control issue. For me it harks back to the Tommy days and it's a weird situation. Mariah had mentioned she didn't experience fame and was sequestered away, etc. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing because if she had, would she have gone down a Justin Bieber-Lindsay Lohan kind of path? Or even late MJ and Whitney. Not a fan of Tommy's because he clearly tries to destroy MC. But in some ways, I guess I'm trying to say is if she wasn't controlled would she have gone out of control? On another note, I was ecstatic to see MC perform One Sweet Day for the nostalgia but she really shouldn't. Seeing her attempt the vocals were a bit painful to watch. As much as I need my Mariah fixes, I want to see her take a break and shy away from the spotlight. Just to luxuriate and enjoy dembabies but always creating music. And then comeback with a pow.

Re: Randy (47,859) by Jono from USA
I completely agree about Oh Santa. I admit I was one of the skeptics when MC announced she was releasing a second Christmas album. Why try to replicate the perfection of the first? Turns out I was foolish to doubt the queen of Yuletide lol. I think Oh Santa could have easily become a hit, but it's hard to touch the masterpiece that is AIWFCIY. Walter in a Billboard interview stated how difficult it is to make a Christmas classic, and what they created was an incredibly rare moment of magic. Mariah was just in the right place at the right time with the right music, voice, and collaborators to create a holiday staple. It really is the last classic to be added to the Christmas cannon. When it comes to Christmas, MC will forever be defined by that song (even though I think her rendition of O Holy Night is severely underrated and under appreciated by the general public) so it's hard for her to top that.

Betcha Gon' Know / It's a wrap (47,857) by Darryle from USA
As Mariah said many times this album is a journey from where she last off. If you think about those two songs being the last on the album, I think she's trying to tell us that Nick cheated and it's a wrap with them. I think she chose to use those songs because they were fan favs and they were lyrically perfect for her situation. Instead of wasting two tracks she just reused two. She probably added the features so that people would figure they're remixes. Wouldn't it have been cool if Mariah and R. Kelly re did BGK and changed it to fit trapped in the closet. Lyrically the songs are perfect fits. I'd kill to see them do that. To top it off Mariah could've acted in the video.

Confession (47,856) by Randy from USA
I am in love with "Oh Santa". I'm playing Christmas music and of course MC is a heavily featured artist on that play list. That song came on and I lost my mind in the car. It's very happy and upbeat and I have no idea it wasn't a massive hit like AIWFCIY.

Bill and Emotions (47,855) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Can you believe Mariah might be even better when she finally makes it over here? I am so excited. Also, if you listen closely at the 03:40 whistles, you can hear her harmonising with herself. I don't think I've heard her do that since AIYM on the debut album. It's like an angel couldn't help but sing along or something. Mariah's voice is anointed. No god, real or imagined, would ever take that away as long as she cherishes her gift. Thankfully, Mariah's already hip to that.

MIAM (47,854) by B from USA
Mariah's is sounding better than ever, lately. She sounds like she did during the final stops on The Charmbracelet World Tour. I honestly think that first night was just nerves. Mariah has always had stage freight. When she started this tour her confidence was shaken by Nick's betrayal. Slowly but surely she's regained her confidence. She's slaying. I really hope she releases a new album next year. I've been listening to MIAMTEC, everyday while tanning and it's like a mature version of The Emancipation of Mimi. It's a great album. She didn't promote this masterpiece because she was heartbroken and devastated that her marriage was over. Mariah is the product of divorce and she's probably worried about the effect her divorce from Nick will have on their children. Give her a break. A part of me hopes she becomes more private like she was before Nick. I think she should keep all questions during interviews about her music and refuse to discuss het private life like she used to. Not that we know everything about her now she still has an air of mystery around her.

Album (47,852) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I really think MC might release a new album soon. Or atleast a re-release of MIAM with new songs, although I am not sure if that's the best idea at this point. If it was upto me, I'd have her release a completely new album and forget about MIAM. It's like when she was trying to revive Memoirs by releasing 2 remix albums, but finally decided to let it go. A new album with new tracks and hot re-sung remixes would be awesome. Mariah has never had problems writing songs that sound current yet classic Mariah, so I am not really worried about the writing/singing. What I wish she would focus on is marketing it right and really promoting it. Beyonce seems to be really trying to milk her album by now releasing a special edition box set. We haven't seen the end of Mariah, and with her improving vocals, we can expect her to promote her new songs by singing them live.

Baby / Emotions (47,851) by Bill from the UK
Thank you for posting the Emotions clip from Adelaide Baby, I agree it was an absolutely fantastic performance and the best rendition of that great tune in a long time. I can't stop watching it. Like you I am praying and praying that Mariah brings her tour to Europe. We miss her so much, she hasn't been here for years now. I loved how Mariah really went for the "when you're looking into my eyes" line, as even in the 90s she always toned that line down.

Underneath the Merry Christmas III (47,850) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I know, the title's terrible, but I guess the fast approaching holiday season has just got me really hoping for a third Christmas album from Mariah. I'm wishing for one that's more jazz-oriented and traditional sounding, and that even upbeat songs would be backed up by raw, organic instrumentation, like a big band or something. I'd also really like her to cover the following classics for her next holiday album, among her new original tracks of course:
Merry Christmas Darling (like a jazzy version of this)
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (this would just be heaven)
Last Christmas (George Michael part 2)
My Grown-up Christmas List (I'd love for her to really soar in the end)
Sleigh Ride (like an Oh Santa part 2)
The Christmas Song (she's so gonna outdo Christina's version of this)
Baby It's Cold Outside (with Michael Buble or George Michael)
I'll Be Home For Christmas (perfect fit for her)
Winter Wonderland (a little vocally limiting, but she'll find a way to belt or whistle)
White Christmas (she can never go wrong with this one)
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow (another festive cut)
Happy Christmas (the quirky wildcard choice)
Jingle Bell Rock (this will sound lovely on her)
Santa Baby (this will suit her current vocal tone flawlessly)
Oh well, a lamb can dream.

Abraham (47,849) by LC from USA
I totally agree with you and have thought about this for a while now. It just doesn't make sense to me that for the deluxe editions of the album, Mariah would put remixes from the unused Angels Advocate album, and the prerecorded version of America The Beautiful that she used on the 4th of July show, when we know she has so much more material. Three years recording and writing and she only came up with 14 new songs? I doubt it. I have said it before. Why would she mention Kick Rocks? Or play that unheard song on Barbara Walters? She has more songs, better songs. I am very hopeful that Mariah will release a new album next year and attempt her long awaited comeback.

The elusive chanteuse completly and totally slayes Emotions live Adelaide (47,848) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

This is Mariah's best rendition of Emotions this side of heaven in a long time. When will insert your lesser faves? Run and tell that. I am 100% done with humouring anyone who dares call themselves any variety of lamb who dismisses a moment like this but goes on tangents for days on end over 00:16 second clips of questionable origin. I'm gonna keep relying on my lying eyes and so so def ears. "Miss Mod" better get her act all the way together and bring it to Europe next year. Or, I will hunt her down. That's all I know.

Alexis (47,846) by Abraham from USA
The little voice inside my head told me, lol. It's pretty evident by now what's to come. An album will be released next year with even better songs than "MIAM". Mariah saved her best material for the next. Why would she put her best work on an album she wasn't going to promote? Not to be rude but obviously by the likes on my post, others seem to think the same and agree. And yes, now that Mariah is singing live again it's something less to worry about. She can sing her singles live wherever she goes to promote. I don't care what anyone says. Her voice has improved a lot and sounds strong. Next year will be her year.

I'll Be There / MSG (47,844) by Edward from USA

I consider this to be the best rendition of "I'll Be There" Mariah's ever sung. Mariah and Wanya is pure magic. Wanya brought so much soul to it that I forgot about Trey's high notes, no pun intented. I replaced the Unplugged version with an mp3 of this one.

E=MC2 (47,843) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Does anyone here have the E=MC2 deluxe edition? The one that came with the iPod skin and fold out poster? If so what image did the fold out poster have from the shoot? Also anyone knows whether the Island DefJam box set of Mariah contains the Platinum or regular Emancipation CD? Apparently it shows the platinum edition on the main box but inside it is the regular edition. Let me know.

Mariah (47,842) by B from USA
Mariah is touring to strengthen her voice and is obviously working out. Why else would she do these things besides to look and sound good. She's reconnecting with her fan base and gearing up to release a new album or rerelease MIAMTEC. She's still a force to be reckoned with. Only Taylor Swift has went platinum this year. MIAM sold 100,000 with no promo. #Beautiful has sold more copies than any album released this year. The ARIA needs to change their methods for awarding gold, platinum, and multiplatinum certifications because selling 100,000 nowadays is the same thing as going gold, especially when the best selling album of the year barely sold two million copies/units. Mariah did only one interview and concert on The Today Show and during her interview she basically said she was having problems with Nick. That interview and the lyrics to songs like Thirsty and Camouflage made it clear Mariah was about to divorce Nick.

Alexis (47,840) by B from USA
Was it necessary for you to attack him? Asking for sources, when his post is what he thinks is going to happen? Have you not been watching the videos that lambs are posting of Mariah singing live and slaying? I think the same thing. She's strengthening her voice, exercising her voice and body, getting in fighting shape and she'll be ready to promote her next record like her life depends on it. She's done it before and to think she can't do it again is ignorant.
