Sleeping with the enemy (51,326)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

Who wants to bet Thirsty a.k.a. Nickelodeon has stans that troll Mariah friendly zones all in these Internet streets? It's so fucking obvious because the Mariah bashing is always done in tandem like they all get a daily memo about what shit to start. Notice how they will never take up for Mariah but somehow always manage to justify defending the side of whomever is currently against her. Let's see who has the audacity to claim lambhood and finagle sympathy for Nick at Nite's Rapaciousness. Yesterday is over, today I won't suffer fools who dare give any credence to that piece of gutter trash masquerading as literature. Team Mariah better sue this male version of Heather Mills. Ugh, just when you forgot he even existed, any woman who willingly deals with this sociopathic douche after this has at least had fair warning. Something Mariah, unfortunately didn't. I'm praying the divorce is coming to a book end very soon. Amen.

Response to Andrew (51,325)

Thanks for your post Andrew, I always looks forward to what you have to say about MC's recent events. I agree with you. With the Vegas gig coming up I thought she'd take steps to change the perception of what the public has of her as a has-been and someone whose lost their voice but to no avail. I'm not expecting her to be a size 0 or anything but the totality of her behavior has not changed to deter me from expecting the worst. I stand by my POV that she doesn't care anymore about her image, fans, nor success. I think her heart's not in it and it's been showing for many years. She's completely out of touch with reality and expects her followers to shell out $$$ for her in a month from now. I think she believes her own hype and self medicates with alcohol or food over the pain of her lost vocal abilities, not divorce. Everyone including her goes through heartbreak but I don't believe in this instance it's the root of her problems. She was like this before Nick. The part of all this that hurts me most is her using her fans. The only that still are here are here from her legacy days and when she was genuine. She uses those ties to cash in on our loyalty and I think it's wrong. She shouldn't perform shows lip syncing nor have a diva antic when in public. As a rule this kind of behavior shouldn't be tolerated and she should be called out and reprimanded if she does it in Vegas.

25th year anniversary (51,324)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I do hope that Edward is right and we are indeed going to be bombarded with surprises from Mariah's camp. This is her 25th year in the business, I hope it doesn't go to waste and I pray that nothing happens that tarnishes her status any further. I would really love a surprise documentary. Surprise skits that will go viral and surprise collaborations with current artists. I hope MC has come out of her shell and realized that she is a legend so she doesn't have to feel threatened by younger female artists and that it wouldn't harm her to collaborate with them. Most importantly, I hope that she's in pip condition (vocally) for her Vegas residency. This is her chance to get her throne back and erase all the bad publicity she got in the last few years. People have a short attention span nowadays so if she manages to slay this time, whatever happened before will be forgotten by people or at least the hate will come more diluted.

Oh golly. An "enabler vs fair weather lamb" argument. Isn't that such a new topic? Not. This is probably the most repetitive argument on this board.

Edward / Nick's book (51,322)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
Please let this story about Nick's book be fake. The Daily Mail, for those of you not familiar, is an extremely right-wing, trashy, hackneyed tabloid with stories that border on out and out racism and has wound up in hot water several times over letting its journalists write whatever they want with no factual evidence to support it. I pray this story is nothing more than their usual celebratory divorce shit stirring they do every so often. Edward, "ace under her sling", absolutely brilliant.

What you say may sound a bit harsh to some people but, it is so true. I've read back on your posts and I can say you are a very truthful and humble guy. Thank you for keeping it real and standing up about it. Sick of hearing people saying and supporting ridiculous things in this forum like: [censored], [censored], her getting with Brett Ratner etc. I don't know what else to say but its nice to see other real fans like myself that don't live in la la land.

Mariah's weight (51,319)
by NHYTG from nyc

I don't care about Mariah's weight al all, I'm more interested in the upcoming album and the Vegas shows. After all we are talking about a singer here, not some fashion model. I think she looks like a healthy woman in her fourties should look like. I hope there will be some news soon, the weight subject is so annoying.

Ladies, please. People mock Mariah's weight because she has spent the last eighteen years taking more and more items off, lightly [censored] and doing her best impression of a [censored] come to life. The behaviour itself was enough for people to mock. [censored] Because [censored] rarely hangs in straight lines. So people are absolutely going to mock her more. [censored] Naturally. So that tells you she actually wants to be thin and knows what gains it has for her career but she just can't be [censored] to actually put the effort in. It's like lip-syncing for the eyes. Mariah is her own worst enemy. Potentially career-saving concerts coming up and there is an expectancy amongst her followers for her to fight hard and upon seeing that even I would become an "enabler" if I saw her fight, make changes to her music, her attitude and her look. I really thought she would, to be quite honest. No amount of "enabling" is going to do anything constructive. I just really don't think she gives enough of a [censored] anymore to warrant [censored]. But I know some of you will disagree. After all, Mariah doesn't [censored], right? Peace be.

Mimi weight gain / Vegas (51,316)
by CMC from NY,NY
| |
|
|
I personally think the weight gain is due to use of steroids for her vocal cords. Singers are known to do this in order to belt out vocals and continue singing the way they used to. Google it. The side effect is weight gain and bloating. This explains could explain Mariah's up and down weight through the years. As of lately especially prior to finishing albums (MIAM) and currently the reissue and rehearsal for #1's. It's too much of an immediate change to be just normal weight gain. Why would she look amazing on Ellen and throw away hard work of working out and dieting to gain weight between #1s shows? It makes me really sympathize with her and have compassion because it must be horrible to have this scrutiny and zero control over that if it's her only resort to have the voice in full capacity. It must really be a battle. Mariah is into her looks, she wants to be in great shape, there's no way she doesn't want that "Touch my body" body back. Especially after coming out of the divorce and gearing for a comeback. Anyway it's all speculation but makes sense, I'm always rooting for her and feel pain. Looking forward to #1's surprises and seeing her in Vegas in July.

Orkun, I also think she's cooking something with other big names, but reworking her #18's would be too much and not enough time, unless she's doing cut and paste which I hope she isn't. She definitely has an ace under her sling, we may be pleasantly surprised.

The art of losing and gaining weight (51,312)
by MimiLamb from Germany
| |
|
|
The weight issue is ridiculous, how often do people say "we live in the real world" and "we can't look like celebrities because that's not reality". Now here we have Mariah with her curves, and all of a sudden it's her weight that is the issue. I rather have Mariah with her curves and singing her ass of and slaying in Vegas then Mariah thin and struggling with her performances. Some are focusing on the wrong thing in my opinion. Britney is another thing, that girl needs her body in check and dance to be able to pull it off, Mariah was never a dancer or an entertainer with Mariah the vocals need to be on point, she still can look fabulous with a little bit more weight on her. The promotion like Edward already mentioned is not up to Mariah, I think they will start soon, maybe like 2 weeks before the first show. I'm going to sit back and wait instead of creating doom scenario's before we have seen/heard a single thing. Take a deep breath and keep calm.

Is it possible? (51,311)
by Orkun from The Netherlands
| |
|
|
We know Mariah's is re-recording #1's in duet forms. As we are recently coming across new generation artists prasing Mariah, is it possible that Mariah's new #1 album will feature artists like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Iggy, Alicia, Taylor Swift, Idina Mendez etc? If so, that would be an amazing commercial project. Could this be what's awaiting us? Any thoughts? PS: Edward, I started my day with a big laughter after reading your last post "Weakness of the body". Lol.

Just relax (51,310)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I know that the anticipation is killing us, but we need to take a chill pill and relax. Vegas people are not amateurs, they didn't just throw a project at Mariah for her to run. They know what they are doing, and they also have their own promotional plan, it's not up to Mariah, the promotion is stipulated in her contract. I know Mariah needs to look stunning, but I rather have her singing well consistently during her Vegas run, that's my main worry. She's known for her voice, and the audience will judge her by her talent. I'm hoping she's rehearsing those songs that have turned out to be too difficult for her to sing. This is the time for Mariah to redeem herself by coming on stage with confidence, showing the audience why she's the last diva standing. I have the feeling that we are going to be bombarded with lots of surprises that will start the engine in preparation for her first show.

Thank you so much for your posts. It seems the board is just filled with so much unnecessary negativity nowadays. Of course not everything has to be rainbows and sunshine, but the ridiculous nitpicking criticism that has become a trend on this board is getting extremely immature. LC I agree with your opinion on the karaoke video - it is the most watched video from the Late Late Show with James Corden, and that's after he's had a bunch of other celebrities who are bigger news than Mariah right now. Yet the general public is clicking (and loving) the karaoke video. You can't create 5 million+ hits just from Mariah's fanbase alone. I also wanted to commend Arden for your post on her weight. Mariah to me looks great, but for Hollywood she is considered "curvy". When have we become a fanbase that fat shames and judges her on her weight? Seriously? With the caliber of Mariah's talent, you would think there would be better things to be upset about than how she looks. Some of you probably have never worn a wetsuit before, because that thing is unflattering no matter what. It is skin tight material that accentuates everything, especially when wet. And she's 45 for crying out loud, not 25. Also the dress she wore on Ellen was nowhere near as tight as the wetsuit, so of course it's going to be flattering. Not to mention she has her hair and makeup done. That's why the more natural look is going to seem "unflattering" because we're so used to the photoshopped, unrealistic Hollywood BS.

You are spot on with your last post about the Grammy's. I couldn't said that better. B is so overrated by the Grammy's. And Mariah is so underrated that even non fans think it's a shame. But you can't deny more than 200 million albums sold, 18 number ones, without any support from the Grammy's. If they like to award autotune, then they have to change their awards category, Like the award for "Best autotune vocals" goes to Katy Perry. Or the award for "Best spoken r&b song" goes to Beyonce "Drunk in love", and so on.

by Ty from USA

Are you living in a dreamworld? If she steps on that stage with [censored] or out of shape the press will rip her apart. Britney looked a mess three years ago but she got her body in shape, got her weave done and she's rocking the Vegas strip. Mariah has one month to go, the vocals need to be on point and she needs to bring it. The public has all but given up on her, people are saying she lost her voice, her Mimi swag, her body and her hit potential. So Ardis you keep running around seeing rainbows, and making excuses and living in never land. Hot body is good press is ticket sales, now go [censored] and back up off me.

Alain, I don't think it would be appropriate for Mariah to include a song about Osteoporosis in the new edition of #1's. People would think she's trying to gain sympathy due to her shoulder injury.

Maybe, just maybe (51,304)
by Edward from USA

Maybe Mariah is still looking kind of bloated because of the medication she's taking for her injury. I noticed that when she started promotion for "#Beautiful", back in 2013, she looked stunning, as thin as she was when she sung "AIWFCIY" at Jimmy Fallon. Then she dislocated her shoulder, and started gaining weight. I personally think she shouldn't go to Vegas looking the way she looked on "The Elusive Chanteuse" tour, but if she can't help it for medical reasons, I completely support her taking care of what's most important, her health.

Your quote "at least they could make her look beautiful if she was in shape". WTF? Seriously? That is really insulting. There are a very small percentage of humans on this earth that are "in shape". Just because Mariah is not tight and toned to the max, does not mean she can not be made to look beautiful. You are seriously delusional if you believe that, and I truly feel sorry for someone so ignorant. I don't care how many times you have met Mariah, that is just a horrible thing to say.

[...] LC. She has gained weight and lost weight for years, I'm sure she'll drop weight for the shows. Her voice is stellar, she sings her ass off still, not every occasion, but when the moment is right her notes are great. Her "dahling" stuff is just an act, she's having fun. She respects members of Hollywood that respect her. That's why you only see her on Ellen, Letterman, Fallon, Today Show. When she hits radio again [censored] will praise her like 1997 Mariah. I'm not delusional, I have opinions also but Mariah Carey treats her fans better than most artists. She genuinely cares. She lost the man she loved, she has a right to have fun/be a little thick. A true lamb knows that [...] Mariah focuses on her career. Her hand is still [...]. Gloves remind her of exercises she has to do to strengthen it. Nerve damage doesn't heal in a day and that's the [...] arm that has carpal tunnel I think. I had foot surgery,it took 2 [...] to heal my foot. You [censored] are the definition of haters, spread rumors and talk crap about stuff you [...]. If you don't know why she does something then just keep [...] mouths shut, wait for confirmation from MC or her team. The public loves to bash Mariah but they also love to [...]. She's all over social media/tv lately.
