Jazz Festival (49,476) by Dove from USA
I'm excited. I wonder what she's wearing and what songs she'll be performing.

Siddity like Aaliyah, Mariah's career stays winning / Vítor Henrique Pereira from Brazil (49,474) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Thanks for filling in the? I just copy-pasted the lyrics to "Like Mariah" without really looking and didn't see it wasn't 100% complete. Fifth Harmony is huge in Brazil right now, right? The best thing about them is that they always sound a 1000% better live than they do on their CD's so I can't wait to hear them perform and dance to "Like Mariah". They are on par or even better than Destiny's Child were IMO at the same ages and that's saying a lot. The synergy around Mariah is so positive right now, 2015 is gonna be her year. Are you excited about the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival?

MIAMTEC, Nick, and Luis Miguel (49,473) by B from USA
MIAMTEC was well received, Nick is ignorant, and Mariah is the queen of shade. I'm looking forward to the reissue of #1's and the Las Vegas residency.

These women are after their fifteen minutes of fame or money or both. I don't believe either story.

Nanny Ardis Marcus (49,471) by Dove from USA
Ardis, even using your math, $14,000 per month minus the (average) $6,500 that she was already paid, is closer to $20,000 for three months, not $100,000. Also, nanny was probably living with them so she didn't need to pay for rent, utilities, living expenses, etc. Marcus, it did seem snobby when she snapped her fingers and said she fired nannies that way, especially because a lot of her fans are minorities who work those types of jobs, but the fact is, it's her right to keep firing until she finds the right person/people to help raise her kids. To me, Mariah seems to be a loyal employer, I think she's had the same publicist since before Glitter (the lady who snatched the microphone away in the infamous clip). If it were my sister or mom, I would be bummed out that she lost her job, but it happens, people get fired sometimes. I think I read MC hires a team of three nannies now who work shifts. On a side note: this story was even on the Spanish channel because my mom called me to ask me if I knew that my favorite singer doesn't give her help breaks or pay for overtime. Also, we fans know that MC says she doesn't know somebody when she doesn't want to talk about them, but other people may think she's crazy because she claims not to know who Luis Miguel is when there were pictures of them together all over the tabloids around the world when they dated.

So Mariah is going back with Sony?

Shoulda, coulda, woulda / MCEO (49,469) by nikki from usa
In retrospect, I wish MC would've released her album back in 2013. The music climate was better. Randy was still her manager. I know everyone thinks that radio deal was made by her label, but seeing their lack of action makes me believe that it was Randy. She had the success of Beautiful and could've kept her TV appearances and added some more for her album. Then, her album would've gone gold at least, and had a shot at platinum. She should've been able to sing her other songs on tour as extras. It's a shame we never got to see/hear the music and video she gave her arm for. If she had moved on to the album instead, that extra video and her injury wouldn't have happened. Anyway, that's shoulda, coulda, woulda. MC has been without a manager for how long now? She did a successful tour, Christmas concerts, signed a Las Vegas residency, and booked a Blues festival. Someone is commenting on her behalf, so she put someone in place. It seems Mariah is coming into her own now. I can't wait to see how the Blues festival concert goes down. I'm liking this "take charge" Mariah. Also, I'd like some new ringtones from her. Remember Time Of Your Life? It would be cool if she made ringtones for her next album with the album giving us the full version. She could make money off iTunes for her "downloadable music clips" (ringtones) while it works to promote the album in unison for the full versions. She could do so much with that concept.

For singers, the voice discovery (49,468) by Spir Ja from USA
Because of the similarities, same producer and my own jaw injury and years of rehab, trying to get control of my breath, I finally understand what the queen meant when she said she "sings straight up through her cords". When you look at the Arianna videos, where she warms up with breath trills on her lips, just like all "voice teachers" commonly preach, the difference for MC is that she controls her breath and sings the "thrill" on the "lips" of her cords. It takes incredible concentration, an [..] that takes years to develop and I can easily understand how singing [...] could take away ones ability to concentrate to sing [...]. It's dangerous, it's truly an "open throat" vocal and she [...] it, but I can see how [censored]. God bless her. Amazing that all the [...] spectacular performances are recorded. I can do this now, but [...] intense concentration and you're only good for about 7-8 songs at a time, period. Be carefull singers.

Mariah is almost home a.k.a. back at Sony / who needs a manager? (49,465) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
According to Billboard (the next issue) it's not just a rumour and I for one am frigging jubilant about out it. It always irked me that Tommy was fired right after MC signed with DefJam. She was billed into leaving. Sony was her musical home in so many ways and she was robbed of all the goodwill and relationships she'd formed there since 1988 having to essentially start over as an artist after Tommy's terrorist tactics against her. Yeah, and Mariah apparently brokered this whole deal without a manager, just like she did the Vegas residency. I called it, leave Mariah alone and she will make better decisions for herself than anyone can do for her. Never underestimate Mariah Carey. We it, now let's see how long before the joey tries to take credit for this too.

"Eternally 12" / nannies (49,464) by Marcus from Brazil
I think that "eternally 12" has to do with the fact she had to grow up too soon. Remember these lyrics?
But I closed my eyes
Steadied my feet on the ground
Raised my head to the sky
And though time's rolled by
Still feel like a child
As I look at the moon
Maybe I grew up
A little too soon
Then she refers to herself as "that woman-child". As for the Nannies, Mariah clearly said she changes nannies as often as she changes her underwear. And I don't doubt the fact that she was demanding. But to dismiss these ladies just because Mariah can do no wrong is kind of ridiculous to me. If any of those nannies were your sister or mother, some of you guys would be singing a different song. Thank God people get the chance to show evidence to prove their cases, it's only fair both parties.

Jazz/Hip Hop album (49,463) by 123 from USA
I'm still dead set on her releasing a Jazz/Hip Hop album. No one has hopped on this blended genre yet. It would be brilliant of her to be able to make songs that sound more timeless while still staying current enough to chart. Here is one song that I would love for her to sample the melody and maybe add a little more bass. Let me know what you think.

Nanny / let's do the math (49,462) by Ardis Logic from Earth
So let's just do the math and see if $6500 - $7000 a month is fair pay for some one working 24-7 (as claimed). As a home health care worker you can earn between $10-$25 an hour or more. If you are self-employed and not going through an agency then you don't get paid overtime unless that is agreed upon at hiring. So if you take $7000 and divide that by 30 (for 30 days in a month) you get $233 a day. Then if you take $233 and divide it by 24 (24 hours in a day) you get $9.72 per hour. That seems a little low to me. Especially for some one who is expected to "snap to" at any moment. If I personally took a job for some one who was a multi-millionaire and was expected to give care 24-7 to two children and possibly two adults, no matter if I was in bed or not. I would at least want $20 an hour. So if you take $20 x 24 hours you get $480 a day. $480 x 30 days you get $14,000 per month. That seems more fair to me. It is a very hard job to take care and make everyone happy. You also put your own needs aside and that is very challenging work. If overtime was agreed upon then the price just goes up from there.

The [...] of "eternally 12" (49,459) by Warrior Butterfly from USA
I was thinking of Mariah's constant reference of being "eternally 12" [...] it makes a bit of physiological sense being that Mariah's debut album was released 25 years ago. But if we do the math from 2015 back, that means in 2003 she's was at the end of the "Charmbracelet" era. Her and Luis Miguel are over, the [...] done, her contractual obligation to [...] is legally complete. So for her to keep saying the number 12 means she is further and further removed from past eras that were not so pleasant in her opinion. Hints her denying she knew Luis Miguel which would fall in place in the time line. 2003 he would not have existed at 12. From what I have found she starts using the frame of being "eternally 12" in 2001 means that 2001-12 is 1989. She's working on her debut, the slate is already clean from the [...] moving forward. If we use the MOAIA 2009 when she was married to Nick Cannon in 6 years by 2021 this phase of her life will no longer exist either. See where this is heading.

Re: Mimi the slave driver (49,452) by Nikki (49,457) by Dove from USA
I noticed in your post you wrote she worked for less than three months. Taking that into consideration, 100k+ damages seems like way too much money to compensate for unpaid overtime, especially if she was already being paid 6-7k a month and the job included room and board. Maybe it was the superstar nanny from Nanny 911 and that's why she's demanding so much. People should be compensated for their time but this lawsuit seems frivolous and ridiculous.

Nannies / Mariah "comment" / public (49,456) by Billy from Greece
These stories are definitely ear-candy for the general public who consider Mariah a supreme diva-bitch in the vein of original "supreme" diva-bitch Diana Ross. At the same time I do recall an interview of Mariah in early 2014 (not sure at the moment which one) where she did throw shade to some nannies (before any of these stories break out) hinting at hiring/firing different people "when they try to be more important than mommy". This was not the exact quote, but she did say something along these lines, which means that there must be a history of mishappenings. The comment, though, in the recent article that the twins "were getting confused about who mommy was" does sound far-fetched. Still, such stories about Mariah that have been more often in the last decade combined with her stint at American Idol are the source of the general public's "change of heart" towards Mariah. In fact, out of all the issues that have been discussed here about the underperformance of "The Elusive Chanteuse", I believe that it was the Nicki Minaj fight debacle that caused everything. Remember that in the 1980s Diana Ross suffered a huge decline in popularity and public liking in the US as a result of a fictionalized stage play ("Dreamgirls") based on a foe's autobiography, and then of an unauthorized biography portraying her as a tyrranical person.

I think they're saying Mariah because she was the one dealing with the nannies (since dad was never there). But of course, if these claims are true, he should pony up half.

Nanny McClaims (49,454) by Luke from United Kingdom
I'm calling BS on these claims. Why is she saying all this now so long after she lost the job? Same with the assistant. Nobody held a gun to their head lol these people are just money hungry cretins that want more from her, which is probably why they took the job in the first place.

Travon / Marissa (49,453) by nikki from usa
Thanks, Travon. That was very helpful. Marissa, I like this: She shouldn't have to choose between love or making music. I wholeheartedly agree. It's funny, but I see Mariah putting her all behind the former. Whenever she's married she seems to put her man first and herself on the back burner to an extent. She allowed herself to be a human barbie doll because its what Tommy wanted. He dressed her and her music up like the girl next door. Nick wanted to work and get his celebrity out there. The next thing we know, Mariah's putting herself in the traditional wife role and staying at home with the kids. All the jobs she took on surrounded around this first and foremost. Tommy seduced her with career heights and Nick with a happily ever after. The catch 22 was exchanging artistry and a life for numbers and making the company look good for Tommy. Nick's was building up his own celebrity while leaving her lonely and exposing her privacy. MC seems to think she needs to give up her own passions for her men, yet the relationships blow up in the end anyway. I think once she realizes she can have both without sacrificing one for the other is when her perfect match will come around.

Re: Mimi the slave driver (49,452) by nikki from usa
I need to bring your attention to this line: "Plaintiff was on duty during all hours of each 24 hour day with no entitlement for breaks, for meals, and even for sleep. Indeed, Ms. Carey would often call plaintiff at hours in the middle of the night and demand to be taken to her children or to be updated on the status of her children," the suit says. "Ms. Carey would not tolerate any delay when she called and plaintiff had to attend to her every demand, spontaneous or otherwise." This woman was a live-in nanny or she wouldn't ever need or be able to "take Mariah to her children" in the middle of the night. This woman "wasn't allowed to sleep" because MC would call and expect an update on her kids? I've only attempted a job interview for such a profession once, but that's salaried. There was no "overtime", but this chick was being paid at 6000-7200 month. That's 72,000- 86,400/year or 200-240/day. It seems she got paid extra at times for something. You would know better than I at the conditions of caregiving and salary though. Also, notice the lingo. Hired October 2013 and fired January last year. She worked for less than 3 months. In most businesses 90 days is a grace period. In 2013, MC said she was going through nannies because they weren't disciplining the kids, but MC would. They didn't want her when she came home because mommy would put them in time out while the nannies cuddled them. Frivolous lawsuit, indeed.

To Baby from Sweden on "5H lyrics to Like Mariah" (49,451) by Vítor Henrique Pereira from Brazil
I do highly agree with you that the song is good. In addition, reaching out to a younger audience is still good to Mariah. Now then, Tyga shouts out two of music's leading ladies delivering the following: “You’re so sadiddy, like Aaliyah, Mariah Carey. You stay winning.” Since you hadn't understood it, there you go. And "sadiddy" is someone who "acts" as if she or he is completely superior towards another person.

Mimi the slave driver? (49,447) (49,450) by Dove from USA
It happens to the best of us, people get busy and aren't thinking about whether or not the nanny had a break. Nanny should have spoken up sooner. MC knows whether or not she was really overworking them, if she was, just pay up and apologize; we live we learn. If it's not true, then she should fight it and don't let them get away with it. Sidenote: She should get a butler like in that show The Nanny who lives in the home and is on call.

Nanny biz (49,448) by Brad from USA
Hi fellow lambs. I haven't written in a minute and ordinarily wouldn't on such matters but this recent story is no different from the stories alleging that Mariah is distraught, weak and unable to carry on without Nick. Pure and simple, such spins are sexist. First of all, the nanny in question presumably worked for both Mariah and Nick. After all, the children she cared for are not just Mariah's. Yet the spin is that Mariah is demanding and not willing to pay just compensation. Where is the attachment of such an allegation to the father of the twins? Does he not bear any responsibility? I guess its easier to make the woman out to be the unreasonable "diva". Secondly, all the stories about Mariah being unable to carry on are pure sexism. It's "easier" to believe that the woman is too weak to carry on. Undoubtedly, she's had difficulty but I am certain that can be said of the male as well as the female in the former relationship at hand. Such spins are tired and as a "society" we deserve more intelligent, modern reporting from our news sources that is reflective of today's cultural norms and values. Be well to yourself and to each other.
