MC nowhere to be seen with Nick? (45,677) by May from Denmark

Hi G.G. and thanks for the heads up. Nick has been posting stuff on Twitter, just that not about Mariah. I also used to check his twitter just to see if there was anything new about MC or them together that wasn't on her account but nothing. The last tweet about her (if I'm not wrong) was about the song Thirsty on May 13. "Thirsty. Definitely one of my favorite joints. Wait until you all hear the entire album. Fire. Amazing." I know he did a launch daylight party for his new tablet just yesterday, and Mariah neither the kids were present and she didn't mention anything about him launching anything or doing any promotion or mention as she used to for his projects in the past. I'm so surprised about that tweet. Wow, I missed it and I did checked on her twitter today, she posted a candid pic with B. Scott looking gorgeous. I'm now so eager for the Thirsty video. Hopefully if it's true, I wish wish wish the video to be awesome. Btw here is a throwback video of Nick Cannon and his "he should have shut the f***" moment. This is why I never bothered listening to him in interviews. To be 100% honest, I never liked him much and I don't think he is that funny.

Hey where did you hear about the relaunch? I can't seem to find it anywhere. If she did tweet it, I wonder why she deleted it. If she does relaunch it, I will be happy. I was not being able to digest the fact that Mariah is letting her (what critics and fans are calling one of her greatest albums) just die out without trying to save it. But if she does give it another shot and this time do it right, with videos shot on time and appearances lined up and good performances (live or atleast lipped without getting caught), I'll be happy. I am glad Thirsty is the next single. I like the song and it might be popular.

Divorce (45,675) by Dove from USA
He hasn't posted anything about her on Facebook either. Well he does have Robin Thick and Howard Stern as friends and carries a pimp cane. He seemed like such a good guy too. If these divorce rumors are true I hope he will be a gentleman and not air their dirty laundry. This is reminding me of Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher in that he married an attractive and rich older lady to help his career and then dumped her. It angers me and I hurt for her just thinking about it. MC looked happy at the Hercules premier, though. If she does get depressed I hope she seeks counseling and doesn't get stuck there. Life is short.

TJ / GG (45,673) by Abraham from USA
I don't believe that. Mariah would have done fine without Tommy. It's her talent and voice that has gotten her to where she is today. She's the one who has written practically all her songs. Gigi, where did you read that rumor? Her twitter? Re releasing the album with new songs would be great. I want more music.

Observation (45,672) by G.G. from USA
I used to check Nick's Instagram page for pictures of Mariah and the kids. His Instagram has been deleted and he hasn't posted anything on Twitter since July 1st.

Rumor (45,671) by G.G. from USA
Mariah posted then deleted it: 9.9.14. MIAMTEC will be re launched with four new songs and Thirsty will be the next single with a video already shot.

Re this_is_qhm (45,670) by May from Denmark
I also would love an album with all new and fresh stuff. She could leave all the already-done music or left-overs for bonus tracks, surprise tracks, secret tracks, anything else as extra for the fans. I am enjoying MIAM, tho I do skip the first tracks usually. Not because I dislike them, but because it brings my mood down when hearing slow type of songs right from the get go, I have to either be in a position where I identify myself in such situation or after going through the whole more upbeats then going down for a "relax" kind of moment. Obviously is a personal thing haha. I do think the songs are wonderful. Does anyone find it strange that she started this last album with slow tracks as opposite with the upbeat ones as she usually does? The ones that started with slow but powerful ballads if you could call it somehow were "Vision of love" and "Through the rain", both with uplifting messages. She said it was a "body of work". What you guys interpret out of this album when listening to it from begging?

"Hoodriah" / "Thugriah" (45,669) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Although I personally love her, I know “hood” version of Mariah (some fans/haters call "Hoodriah"/"Thugriah") isn’t for everyone. It’s just a matter of preference/tolerance for some fans. But what many people don’t seem to get is that Mariah was raised in New York; she was a first-hand witness to the infancy and growth of hip-hop/rap as a genre. That’s why it’s close to her heart and eventually was the path that she ended up taking. Sure she started with pop ballads and she excels at them, but something about her oldest songs always sounded a just wee bit forced to me. It’s like you can almost feel Tommy’s control, as well as Mariah’s reluctant compliance on some of the material, so she made sure she put little stamps here and there of her own input. But even in such a restricted environment, her talent and rebelling artistry still stood out. But it’s only until Hoodriah arrived that she became more honest than ever. What makes me appreciate Mimi even more is her commitment to give back to the music she grew up with. Even way before she was on Idol, she already was discovering new talent. So generously cool. She’s constantly on the lookout for less known rappers on the brink of going mainstream to feature in her tracks. That’s a win-win situation for both parties, as she’s giving someone talented a shot at stardom while ensuring she isn’t overshadowed by her guest. Nicki owes her a big deal. Mariah was one of the first mainstream acts to feature her on an official single.

I love "Do you think of me". I remember that I played that song all the time in 1993 (luckily I had more than one CD-single with that track). I don't think Mariah's music was boring at the beginning. It was pure, and she sounded lovely. Without Tommy's work, I'm not sure that Mariah would be here today. Not as the big mega star she was.

Mariah and Nick (45,667) by Jessica from USA
Nick knew what he getting into when he married Mariah and Mariah knew what she was getting into when she married Nick. We can't just bash Nick because we believe he is the reason Mariah wrote "Camouflage" and "Faded". Every story has two sides. I would love to hear Nick's side also. We don't know what goes on behind closed doors. Yes, Nick is immature at times and is a well known "playa" with a big mouth but Mariah knew this when she married him and if she didn't maybe she shouldn't have said "yes" after only 6 weeks of dating. I think it's funny how lambs blame Mariah's faults on everybody else. So it was Nick who ruined her career huh? I guess it's Nick who forces Mariah to lip? Oh and he must've directed the YME video right? Smh. Truth be told it was bound to happen. Mariah with all her insecurities and of course being "Mr Carey" would eventually get to him. But like I said he knew he was Nick Cannon marrying Mariah Carey, one of the biggest artists of all time so what did he expect? He wanted Mariah so he got her. So now he works all the time and Mariah feels as if he is "thirsty" for fame and no longer loves her. Mariah and Nick have both publicity disrespected each other. Divorce is sad in any situation but especially if your in the public eye. I feel for them both, but also feel as if they set there selves up for it. Mariah throwing Nick under the bus in interviews, Nick bringing up his past lovers. Sadly, they are just no longer a good match.

The webmaster / album art (45,666) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Funny, I also thought the same thing. I also read that article about the album cover, which came out around the same time the former album title was leaked. So when I first saw the deluxe album cover for MIAMTEC, I knew that this album really was slated for a 2013 release to benefit from the hype #Beautiful and her stint on Idol generated. This confirms that the injury was real and not just some stunt (a cruel theory on this board last year) and begs us to rethink if the rumored tracklist that circulated last year could have been the actual one at that time, especially since some titles in that one ended up on MIAMTEC. When the whole plan was derailed by the injury, it gave Mariah some time to reconsider some of the songs and record new ones. So if the old leaked tracklist was true, then a handful of songs really were left out. I hope she reworks them and includes them on her next release, which like some here have said, could very well be in 2015 to coincide with her silver year in the business. It's also possible that she's planning another greatest hits album, now to include her hits post-2000, with a few new tracks tacked on, including a single or two to promote it. I'd be okay with that too, but I personally prefer an album of all new material, even more so if it includes leftovers and outtakes since 2009. Mariah's an unstoppable machine in the studio, there could be at least 40 completed/unfinished songs that were left on the cutting room floor from that 5 year period.

B sides and rarities (45,665) by Dove from USA
I was lucky to get the albums and didn't get any of the singles, except One Sweet Day because a friend gave it to me on my birthday in 7th grade. I didn't listen to DYTOM, SA, or EFA until a few years ago and I felt like I had missed out back then because I didn't even know they existed. It would be cool if they released an album of B sides and rarities. I really loved 100% and Almost Home. Those are strong powerhouse vocals. I love, love the video to Almost Home. Whenever I watch it I end up watching it a bunch of times because it's so beautiful. It really captures her essence and I can't stop staring at her face. I like the lighting, how it goes from light to dark, and the action scenes of the movie fit with the song perfectly. I would also like if she released the song Imperfect. I really like the song Try by Colbie Collait and I imagine it would be in the same vein. Also, Do You Know Where You're Going To the Diana Ross cover.

Yes, I am. I love "Do you think of me" and "Slipping away". I agree that it is a shame that they both were a waste. I personally think that either one could have been a chart topper. And possibly a number one hit. Both songs are great. "Do you think of me" is very deep. To me it's like another "Can't let go". I think the video should have been black and white too. "Slipping away" is a great r&b track. And I agree that it would have fit perfectly on the "Daydream" album. However, I like "Open arms". I think it should have been put after "I am free". And the video should have been in New York with Mariah sitting on some steps in front of a house. Then walking, either at a park or on a bridge. The song was perfect for 1995. So yes, it is a shame. I was thinking that Mariah should re release the "Daydream" album with "Slipping away" being added on.

Wasted b-sides (45,662) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Anyone else bummed that Do You Think Of Me and Slipping Away didn't make the cut during their respective album eras? I mean seriously, such a waste. They could have at least been bonus tracks, like Everything Fades Away, at least they'd still somehow be part of the album. DYTOM was single material. That production alone would've made it a standout on Music Box and possibly the most interesting joint there. It must've been left out due to its heavy R&B leanings, which Tommy considered bad news for a singer he was molding to be a boring, adult contemporary pop artist. Slipping Away, on the other hand, is like a less retro Underneath The Stars. It has a laid-back, effortless ease that a lot of Mariah's early material lacks. It could've easily replaced Open Arms for me, as that cover was good but unnecessary, and SA was much stronger and flowed with the album better. It wasn't left out for the same reason DYTOM probably was, as most of Daydream already made it clear that Mariah was venturing into R&B, so my theories for its exclusion are: 1) it alluded to her marriage way too much than what Tommy wanted to let the public know; 2) for some reason, Mariah's earlier albums had to consist of 10-12 songs, and a 13th track was cut to avoid bad luck (like how the 13th track on John Mayer's debut consisted of silence). Was there a quota on the number of songs for the label's albums back then or did they just want to keep their releases within the normal running time of 40-50 minutes?

I hope you're right about everything you said. I hope they do just want to spend more time together and if they are having problems that they'll work through them. Even though MIAM is a masterpiece, maybe it was released to fulfill her contract and leave the label. Maybe she is working on something new and will shop it around or release it independently. I hope we won't have to wait another 5 years for it though. Next year would be ideal.

MIAM (45,660) by Dove from USA

I agree that it is perfect. I feel like someone hacked into my brain and wrote an album about something I went through. I'm not broken hearted right now but I was for many years. I was hooked on the same person, and I couldn't let go. It's crazy because you try to let go but then you're pulled back. It's up and down, up and down, up and down, until you finally get off that ride. For me, I turned to God to fill that hole and help me finally turn the page. Personally, I don't believe God is Santa Clause, so the last song is fitting for what I went through too. In this interview with Angie Martinez she says, "People want to hear the break up love songs, the I hate you love songs, the I used to love you and I can't get over it no matter what I do every day of my life forever and ever." I was one of those people for years and years. This album will always remind me of that experience. When I hear some of the sad songs like Cry, Camouflage, and One More Try, it reminds me of the agony and depression I felt during that time. A+ Mariah.

5s (45,659) by Darryle from USA
So with the possibility of Mariah releasing or re-releasing the album I'm thinking 5 could be her lucky number. Has anyone noticed that around the 5 album like right before or after is when an artist hits their peak. Mariah's 5th album was Daydream which was her peak. Then she peaked again with TEOM which was released during 2005. Whitney hit her peak with her 4th album. Michael started peaking with his fifth and peaked fully with his 6th. Hopefully this trend remains true for Mariah with her 15th album released in 2015.

Nick (45,658) by Darryle from USA
I really hope all the divorce rumors aren't true. Nick and Mariah truly do look happy together when we see it. I can see why he rumors sound true though. The songs on this album are mostly the exact opposite of love songs and they sold their house. I just think the songs and the house are being blown out of proportion. Mariah was in the honeymoon phase for the last 2 albums so I expect so sad songs. As for the house maybe they just want to be closer so they sold that house to move. I hope that if there is trouble in paradise that they can stick it out and come back stronger than ever. It would suck to see the both of them hurt by a divorce.

I have no idea about the second one, and I'd love to know too. About the first one, it's from her Butterfly promo tour around Europe (1998), it has to be from some tv performance singing either Butterfly or My All. I thought it was in Spain but I just checked and it's not, she's extra gorgeous during that era. Hope I helped you a little bit. This one was in Spain's "La Llamada de la Suerte".

Me. I Am Mariah (45,655) by Billy from Greece
I just wanted to put out there that this album has been my saving grace these past couple of months. I devotedly listen to it, step by step, every single time I put it in my cd-player (yes, they still exist). It's such a gorgeous piece of work, such a true representation of Mariah the artist. Have you noticed that in most tracks Mariah does all the vocals (including backgrounds)? It's pure Mariah from start to finish. I somehow don't want to tell too much about the album, I don't know why. I feel too connected to it. And yes, "Cry." is everything, and by that I mean e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. Just can't get enough of this beautiful album.

May (45,654) by Abraham from USA
Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I too would love some more music. I think Mariah might have something in the works. As I stated in one of my posts, I would love to hear the songs that didn't make the album. I forgot "Heart", "This cannot be love" and "I'll still be around". Even if a re release happens, I'll still be interested if it's new music. I think Mariah most likely did save some of those tracks for the next album. Because why weren't any of them put on the deluxe edition?

Divorce storm news not so news again? (45,653) by May from Denmark
First Shelly, just speak your mind, your opinions are yours and everybody is entitled to it. I think you got to understand tho that this is internet and everything we say is written in text, so nobody can see faces or hear tones of voice, etc, and sometimes some people might take things personal or whatever, or sometimes, just be plain rude because you are not there to smack their faces haha.
About the divorce thing. They bought the Bel Air house in 2009, much before MC was even pregnant. The place was more like a "love nest", holidays place to pass the time, etc. When the babies arrived I guess it became more like a home as they ended up staying there. Then the rumors of separation came when Nick got ill. It was said that Mariah really wanted him to quit working and just spend family time, recover good and take care of his health, etc. He didn't listen and kept on, he prolly took a week free. Then Mariah told in an interview how she "spent the whole pregnancy alone", a fan asked and she replied "I had preeclampsia, I had gestational diabetes, a really difficult pregnancy and I was alone most of the time". Then again in 2013 rumors of definite distance came, and early in 2014 they placed their home crib in Bel Air for sell but pulled it off after some days. Now they did sell their house and the whole divorce rumors are back. They spent almost half a year in 2013 separated doing different things (according to stalking paparazzi). I think Mariah wants family time, he not.

Shelly (45,652) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Don't let people tell you what you should feel. Be it positive or negative, you are entitled to your opinions. So yes, you shouldn't feel the need to say what you think people want. You seem like a very sweet person and it's evident you love Mariah, that's all that matters. We sometimes criticize our loved ones not out of hatred but because we want the best for them, we want them to get a reality check so it's completely fine if you find faults in Mariah, she is human too. Nobody is flawless. At the same time it's fine for you to keep a positive attitude. Basically what I want to say is, don't listen to others. You should be free to express whatever opinions you have.
