Mariah's voice (vocal cords) (47,423) by B from USA Mariah still has her voice. Her voice is fragile. It's also affected by her feelings. Her voice cracked during love songs. Makes sense since she's going through a divorce. She also suffers from stage fright, always has. When rested her voice is spectacular. She's still the best vocalist of our time. Her mother is not only an opera singer, she's a vocal coach. Mariah doesn't need a vocal coach. She doesn't need the surgery that ruined Julie Andrews' voice. She knows her voice. Travon (47,422) by 123 from USA Please do your research before you start making untrue statements. The videos I posted were in no way comparing Mariah's past performances to her current ones. Had you researched, the conversation started with another poster indicating they would rather Mariah perform another song from her catalogue as it seems as though she is just going through the motions when performing ABMB. I responded to her (kindly at that) by advising I used to feel the same way until I saw a couple of good performances where she did a great job with the song and posted them for anyone to enjoy. Speculation? Where have you been for the past year in a half? This has been one of the worst times in her life. Her initial submission of a ballad heavy version of her album wasn't well received by her label, her album got pushed back, she had a serious injury, she got bad reception to her singles and the roll out to her album was non-existent. Mariah hardly speaks on her personal life so why would she now? Plus, why would she when Nick has been doing all the talking lately, even if they are attempting to work things out, Nick having the tattoo with his wife/mother of your children's name covered up is enough of a "sign" for me. Anyone can see she is going through a hard time. She needs prayer. No need to speculate when the proof is there. Mariah can't sing anymore (47,421) by Tiina from Finland Not correct. The situation with her voice is bad obviously but of course she can still sing. What she has is a physical problem with her vocal chords. The nodules won't allow them to zip up. You need a proper "seal" of the chords to produce a clean sound. That's why Mariah sounds very airy but I must say that she has incorporated airyness into her sound beautifully. However, it's actually a problem and also abusive to the vocal chords (it's called "air leaking"). If you continue to sing that way, in time you may not be able to properly zip up your chords again and that means no clean sound. Mariah is having problems to sing on pitch, of course we know she can sing on pitch but it's like her vocal chords just fail her at this point. The air leakage must be behind it. The chords are worn out. Right now she can either sing airy or just belt from her chest voice but it seems that she's not able to use her mix. Her voice has become heavier due to aging. Mariah used to have a lot thinner voice, which made her so fluid. She was very resonant and that's what made her powerful. Today she's too chesty and tries to muscle her way up to reach her mix, especially now because her chords are so tired. All this doesn't mean she's lost her talent. She's dealing with a condition that makes her voice unreliable. She's better off in the studio where multiple takes are allowed. Mariah needs vocal therapy, no doubt. If it's true, I hope it will have brand new songs. She should start fresh. Maybe some of the songs from that rumored tracklist will be released after all? If not, it's cool. As long as whatever she's planning on releasing is good. If it's produced by DJ Clue and JD it should be good. I'm still waiting for the day Mariah works with Pharell again. Walter too. She represents a time when music was done for the right reasons and, above all, music was made to last. Album success (47,417) by Carol from Spain Many don't want to accept but the problem with the new album wasn't lack of promo or of performances. I believe the problem are the ages we live in. People are just looking for bubblegum music of the moment. Mariah was/isn't/never will be about that. This album in 2006/7 would be a hit in sales because people were receptive to RnB. LC (47,415) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Your post just got me excited. I would be so happy if she re-releases the album and this time around actually promotes it. After all the crap that Mariah has been getting lately, I think the woman deserves some good news and that would be in the form of MIAM getting the success it deserves. I know it maybe a farfetched dream but well one can hope. Before Mariah released MIAM I was thinking that maybe she will have videos or atleast lyrics videos for all the songs because she clearly said she will release the lyrics on her own terms. I always wondered whatever happened to the rumoured videos of Thirsty and YDKWTD and also the remix video of Beautiful. Because Mariah said that even while she was being rushed to the hospital she told Nick to finish the video and came back the next day to shoot the remaining parts. So why work so hard and not release the video? So I am really excited if there will be a re-release. My point wasn't her underwear being flashed, my point was the pictures posted were taken from unflattering angles which makes Mariah look bulkier than she is, and that will piss her off because 1) she is very specific about the side of her face she wants photographed and 2) I am sure she worked hard to lose the weight but these pictures are giving a wrong image and she looks bulky so everyone in the post is hating on it. From the videos she looks beautiful and glamorous, but the pictures are portraying her in the wrong way. And that is what I have been talking about. So before you go on about how many times you saw Mariah's knickers, maybe read the post properly first and try to get the point? (Monday 13 October 2014; 22:19)

I pray all the time and I happen to understand the meaning of prayer. I wasn't saying we shouldn't pray or that we shouldn't love. I don't think you caught in my text that I was going to pray for her in a different way. We should consider how we pray and not pray on speculation. Speculation to me does not make me believe something is happening to her. I choose to wait for her to make a statement. That doesn't mean I will not pray or tell people to stop praying. Fly like a bird in Beijing (47,411) by Abraham from USA I was impressed listening to that performance. She sang it live and did great. If only she could sing live and that good in all her songs. Mariah's voice isn't gone. She just has her good days and bad days. So far "Fly like a bird" has been my favorite live performance from the tour. Hopefully she will have more. Rerelease (47,409) by LC from USA This may be a little farfetched, but does any one think Mariah might be planning a Beyoncé-like surprise rerelease of MIAM with new songs and videos? I started thinking about it when one of Mariah's backup dancers posted a very interesting picture on Instagram with the hastags "rerelease December" "iTunes", "new single", "DefJamstopbullshitting" among others, while tagging Mariah and Rachel. He also said that they have been playing Mariah's new single in clubs all over Japan. His instagram is @eddiemobeatnecks and he is proven as Mariah's backup dancer. I just started thinking that a lot of it would make sense were it to happen. Beyoncé released her record amidst label trouble, and it's safe to assume that Mariah is going through that as well, from the lack of promo and that hashtag. Also, Bey surprised the world with her iTunes release in December. And, Beyoncé went on tour before her album release to generate buzz for the surprise in December. Also, doesn't anyone find it strange that Mariah has made so many background videos for her tour? Like those cartoon videos, that video where she, Roc and Roe are dancing around during Supernatural, the "Money" video in the background while she sang Obsessed, the extended footage behind her during Cry. She also said that she would only release the lyrics of MIAM under her own terms, in a way she wanted to. What if Mariah is trying to surprise us yet again? I sure hope so. The woman is raised up on stage therefore most people will be looking up, it's hardly surprising. Why so harsh? (47,405) by Tijl from Belgium I have never, but really never ever before posted on any forum endorsing Mariah. Basically because I believe too many people project their frustrations and insecurities onto a subject that is easy to hit. When I read all the comments regarding Mariah's latest tour I feel so sad. Are amateuristic videos really a trustworthy source? We can not neglect the fact that our girl is going through some rough times and that her voice indeed has changed. She is out there for the fans. Do people realise that using the voice at that level is the equivalent of an athlete performing sports at an Olympic level continuously? Give her break. We all know she has the voice, she can do it.. MC will be pissed when she sees these. From the videos and all Mariah looks great and she has slimmed down but obviously if shot from an unflattering angle anyone would look different and these pictures are probably the worst of the lot. I have visited the website everyday for the past 2-3 years and people didnt seem as convicted to impose themselves. All of a sudden fans want to react over Mariah not singing very well. Then we go and cite publications on this forum, as if to say we agree but then turn around and claim you love Mariah from 1990s. It is now the 2010s and if you are not happy go to TGJ. One complaint from the same people on the same issue is enough. So please stop trying to impose/argue with other fans over and over again. It's becoming repetitive. Someone said last week they believed Mariah looks at this website. I extremely doubt that. I didn't join to see someone post videos from 2012 to make it seem Mariah has lost her touch. Now we are using the term praying for her. Oh my gosh. What happened to remit prayer? Are we praying on speculation of divorce? Last time I checked Mariah hasn't officially spoken out. So therefore, I will pray for the kids and family to stay together without seperating. I will remain optimistic as fans should be that Mariah's been in the industry long enough with much success to give us more hits. (Monday 13 October 2014; 10:11)

This is beyond her career or legacy, but when I saw her up there and the clips of opening night, I saw a woman in pain that has gone through so much over the past year and a half. In the 25 years of being a fan, I have never seen her that down and out. I pray for total healing of her mind, body, and soul. I don't care if she doesn't sing another note as long as she lives a happy life with her children and that one day, when she is ready, that she finds the right person to be by her side. I'd like to make a request to the rest of the fans on this board to pray for her because I truly believe that is what she needs right now. Suggestions about her current or next career moves aren't bad, its just been done over and over and right now, she needs to get "through the rain".
