Well, I was wrong (46,558) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I admit it. I was guilty of hoping some of the stuff the media is reporting isn't true (divorce). I guess my attachment to MC having literally grown up with her music had me wanting things to work out. It is crystal clear now, that is not how things are playing out. I wish everyone involved to find peace moving forward.

Oprah (46,557) by Dove from USA
One thing I will always remember about Oprah that impacted my life was when she said the 50's were the best years of her life and life only got better as we age. I was 21 at the time and I felt so unafraid of growing older after hearing her say that with such conviction. Like growing older was something exciting to look forward to. I agree that Oprah could be an amazing mentor for Mariah. Mimi L I don't blame her either for getting lost, I still get lost sometimes, it's easy to fall into. We just have to help each other out and gently wake each other up. Thank you again everyone who responded to my post. I agree with everything you guys wrote and it seems like we all feel similarly about the matter. I was so afraid to come back and check the comments today, so thanks for being gracious. Nikki I love that YT video you posted.

The media on Mariah (46,556) by Abraham from USA
It's so annoying and upsetting when people are so quick to jump and attack Mariah when's she's going through a hard time. I don't know if any of you know but first it was one of the men from The Breakfast Club that had made a remark, saying that Mariah hasn't sold an album since the 90's. It's funny because when she was there for the interview he was all kissing her ass. She's goes out of her way to do an interview and that's the thanks she gets. Then the people from TMZ, they were talking and some what making fun of her, what she wore and "Glitter". But they were just mad and pressed that Mariah basically ignored and dismissed their lame asses. She gave them diva Mimi/I don't have time for you losers way and I was all here for it. I was like "Yes Mariah, keep on walking." She doesn't owe them anything. I've never watch TMZ, but after seeing that clip on YouTube, I couldn't believe they'd be talking about a legend like that. They're a bunch of snakes. So glad Mariah did what she did.

Re: my thoughts (46,554) by Dove from USA
Thanks, you guys for getting me. When Mimi L mentioned Mariah may be reading our forum, it made me think about what I would like to tell her. Not because I think I know everything, but just gently and humbly from one soul to another. If I ever met her I would not be able to tell her these suggestions to her face because I couldn't live with myself if what I said caused her pain and I had to see any trace of hurt on her face. But Mariah, if you are reading this, I will always support you no matter what road you decide to take. Because I love and appreciate you and your artistry.

That TRL moment (46,551) by Isabelle from USA
Why do the media like bring up the TRL moment over and over? As I watch it 13 years later it doesn't seem so over dramatic as the media would have made it. If it was Katy Perry, Beyonce, etc. doing that surprise appearance they won't have said anything negative about it. Mariah worked endlessly that made her have a breakdown during that time. Plus she had her breakdown before her movie and album came out and the media are always to assume that she will have another breakdown for bad album sales. There is more to life than album sales.

Edward / the importance of image (46,550) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I agree with your point about projecting an image that corresponds to your music. You really need to look the way you sound, because in this modern, visual world, people are just less wiliing to invest time and effort to comprehend and fill in any sort of disconnect between the two. It's actually what makes an artist "the whole package", not just a combination of looks and talent. Look at John Mayer. I personally still love the guy, but barely anyone takes notice of his post '10 releases. Why? It's the dichotomy between his image (increasingly infamous dating history, all gone haywire, almost like a male Taylor Swift, who he coincidentally also happened to once date) and his material (mostly serious, pensive, odes to the brokenhearted). A credible, likable image can go either of 2 ways: 1) possibly make one bland and boring, or 2) make one seem more believable as an artist. If the entire 90's, Charmbracelet, and TEOM eras have taught us anything, it's that with a good image, Mariah will always end up in the latter route. But at the end of the day, she's still stubborn and will do what she wants, and whatever consequences may follow, what's important is that we'll be there for her.

To Mimi L. and Shelly (46,549) by May from Denmark
Oh, I understood "out of comfort zone" something like Mariah doing things she hasn't previously done or trying out something new with some pop. I think she did great in her latest album including a song like Meteorite with the house vibe, it goes nicely with her voice. I would like Mariah to do a bit more of jazz or even blues. I see her singing a more romantic jazz like Diana Krall, with her breathy voice and that sweet whisper she always does. Shelly, I don't see prejudice in your post, once I also thought that perhaps Mariah has gotten used to living a more luxurious life and the short 17-18 years she lived in not so great conditions are just that, a past. We all carry one and somehow when we have a bit more we just get used to and we enjoy and like it. But I think it is important to be in touch with reality and what surrounds us as well and I feel that Mariah has been sheltered from this things. Almost as living in like you said, her own world, the world she built up. She does have some "antics" that she didn't have but then again I also think that no one stays the same, every one changes through time.

MTV (46,548) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
You're so right about MTV. I mean whatever happened to what was once considered the (all caps) avenue for any musical artist's exposure? There was a time you'd be able to tell who's hot based on how often their videos were played in a day. I remember being able to watch it all day as a kid (instead of cartoon channels). And yes, once 2000 hit, it gradually went downhill. But at least until around '05, it still was more about the music. It still was the coolest network around. Then YouTube came out shortly and people started to rely on it for music-related content, stealing a significant chunk of MTV's usual audience. I mean, yes, the channel have been doing featurettes/segments that focused on other not-so-music-related parts of the business since the '90s (fashion, production, celeb lifestyle) but most of that was genuinely informative. Then that slowly morphed into shows that veered even further away from music, and when they realized that music wasn't enough, then came the desperate measures, throwing just about any "reality" show possible just to keep them afloat. Now, it's inundated with the very definition of trash TV. Their current programming is actually them struggling to stay relevant masquerading as "variety" or "diversity". It's pathetic. Now it's only a small fraction of how instrumental it used to be in promoting artists and their material. And now, with VeVo? I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to change their station name. It'd probably be for the best.

Shelly / perception (46,546) by Marissa from USA
Shelly, I also didn't think that your post sounded mean or judgmental. I agree with you that Mariah seems to live in her own world. I think it would be refreshing to us and to herself if, like you said, she would broaden her horizons and do something outside of herself. From my own experience I know that looking beyond yourself is one of the best ways to forget your problems. When you're going through challenging times, you desperately need perspective and you can't get that if you're living in your own world. I think Oprah would be a great mentor for Mariah because she knows how to do it both ways. You could see her fabulous in an Oscar de la Renta gown or see her with no makeup on in her vegetable garden. She has a great combination of class, gratitude and humility. I think the main thing that makes Mariah seem less likable is the fact that she comes off as narcissistic and doesn't seem as grounded as she once did. People can't really see her as anything outside of a diva. Oprah may be a billionaire and one of the most powerful people in the world, but I can't even count the numerous ways she constantly shows that she isn't just consumed with herself. The lambily knows that Mariah cares about more than herself, but the general perception is that if it ain't just about her, she ain't trying to hear it or do it.

September (46,544) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I just wanna share something. But first, Merry Christmas everyone. Not sure if you heard about Filipinos having the longest Christmas season in the world. It's true, and yeah, we're holiday-crazy like that. In fact, starting this very day, pretty much everyone in our country starts counting down the days to December 25th. (I know, it's insane.) But to me and most Filipino lambs this holds a greater importance - it means we can crank Mariah's holiday albums out loud and get significantly less confused looks from people around us. (I mean I know I can just play Merry Christmas and Merry Christmas II You to my fancy any time of the year through headphones, but it just feels weird, even wrong listening to it in April.) More importantly, though, is that we get to spread the Mimi love. I might need new copies of both my cds, though. They're both about to be super worn out, it surprises me that they still work. Oh, and did I mention our yuletide season extends up to the first 2 weeks of January (maybe even more at times)? That's almost 4 months of Christmas and we don't even have winter here. Exactly.

Mariah in the studio (46,543) by Trish from USA
I also think Mariah is in the studio remastering songs for her tour. I hope she does some shows at Ceasar's Palace. I saw her there from the front row in 2003 and she slayed it. I feel helpless as a fan right now, her music always consoles me when I'm going through hard times yet there's no way to return the favor. I don't hate on Mariah Daily, frankly all the posted web articles about the divorce seem like complete BS, and MD is reporting actual confirmed news. I'm loving Heavenly right now, hoping if there's a tour it makes the set list.

Mariah Daily (46,542) by Paul from Usa
I've never really cared for the site. I always thought it was way too overwhelming, and information was so scattered. I've always come to MCArchives and I completely trust it as a news source for all things Mariah. So if like to give Eric the webmaster a pat on the back for his hard work, and dedication to this site. I believe I've come here since 1997. Butterfly era?

GM / MC (46,541) by Mara from United States
That would be me that said that. I think George is very similar to MC. I agree with you that Patience is like his version of TEOM. He tried to bring it back with Amazing and Flawless in similar ways Mariah did with ILT after the dark and somber yet incredibly amazing Older. There was so much pain in that album with life changes and acceptance very similar to Butterfly. Butterfly was full of emotions for MC after a dark time in her life. I wish they would come together just once, they would make such an incredible collaboration. If not, then I just wish MC would bring him on stage just once for a OMT duet. Or do something for Christmas, considering they are both known for writing two of the biggest original Christmas classics AIWFCIY and Last Christmas. Then I can die happy. Imagine MC doing something like Symphonica. I'm going to apologize now for rambling.

Shelly / Mariah is in the studio (46,540) by Edward from USA
I didn't think your post was judgmental at all. You were just stating your opinion. You just stated what most of Mariah's crew won't ever tell her the truth. I don't see anything wrong in Mariah being sexy, in shape, or how many weaves or skimpy outfits she wears. I think what put people off is her "I'm full of myself" diva attitude. And baby, if the GP is not buying her records, us fans along won't be able to sustain her. It is not about changing who she is, but about projecting an image that goes more in line with what she professes in her songs: There's Got to Be a Way, Make It Happen, Hero, Anytime You Need A Friend, Outside, Petals, Can't That Away, My Saving Grace, Fly Like a Bird. On another note, Mariah is in the studio recording songs she'll release on certain concert dates. Now that she's not pressured with a deadline, she's more at ease working on great music. I hope she teams up with producers other than her regulars.

Mimi L. / Up Out My Face (46,538) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I do love the video. In fact, I love everything about her and Nicki collaborating. I believe a lot of the dislike or indifference for this joint venture only started to escalate after their feud. For me, even today, I like Nicki's rapping style mostly because of her versatility. Since Mariah mostly works with male rappers (understandable as there are significantly more of them), this was a nice change of pace. It's been a while since she worked with Missy and Da Brat. Thinking that Mariah saw something in Nicki and was one of the first big-named artists to feature her in a video for an official single only shows that Mariah has a good eye for new talent. Sure, all the ugly drama followed and it's not been the same since then (I think they've had their differences, but American Idol exploited that for ratings, adding fuel to the flame), but I hope they're in better terms now. I'll even go as far as saying I hope for them to do something again together in the future (though highly unlikely). As for the video, I thought it was really cute. I think it's one of her last clips so far that actually involve a bit of acting, as her more recent ones are just a bunch of vanity shots strung together. Mimi L.'s right, she was amusingly animated in this video. For a person who doesn't take herself so seriously in real life, she should have more videos like this. It'd make her more likeable and relatable, as obviously most people don't really dig the sexy, "touching myself too much" act.

Mariah Daily should shut down (46,537) by Edward from USA
I think Mariah Daily Journal should gracefully shut down. What was once a great Mariah website to get news, files, pictures and media about Mariah has turned into a joke. The passion of those who originally kept the website updated is not there anymore. It has gone from Mariah Daily to Mariah Maybe. Ever since Mariah's people started supporting the website everything was run as if it were Mariah's official site, everything that implied criticism towards Mariah stopped being posted. Everything is boring to the core. I think it is time for them to say goodbye.

Shelly (46,536) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Shelly, I agree with the post you wrote. It doesn't sound judgmental at all and I feel the same way. Mariah is undoubtedly a person with a great heart however somewhere along the lines I think she did get lost in her own world of blings and money and what not. I can't blame her, she's not the only celebrity to have done this and I probably would be lost in my own world if I was half as successful as her. But her image has become so bad, she needs a reality check. I like your idea about her visiting third world countries (I come from one too). I think it would really ground her. Angelina Jolie said something along the lines that she used to be bratty and not appreciate life as much until she visited some war torn countries and that changed her so much that she saw how small her problems were compared to the real world problems. Whenever I read comments beneath Mariah articles they are always so full of hate and negativity, it bothers me. It would be great if Mariah starts feeling comfortable with her age and size. I am not saying she should start wearing sweat pants, just saying that be comfortable being who she is. She is insecure about herself and I think like MJ she is scared of growing old so she refuses to let go of it. I am sorry, this is definitely not one of my good posts. I just rambled on a lot of random things. Basic point - I agree with your post.

Mariah Daily is bleak (46,535) by Ty from USA
Is it me lambs or has Mariah Daily turned bleak? Whoever is running the site is fired. It was the stand out site, now it's fake. They are not reporting any news or showing pics of Mariah's outings.
Well here's my list for her tour:

3. Make it look good
4. Cry
5. All alone in love
6. Someday
7. Love hangover
8. Slipping away
9. Love takes time
10. Mine again
11. TGIFY/Make it last
12. VOL/Vanishing/If it's over
13. Lead the way
14. We belong together
15. Heavenly/I wish you well/Fly like a bird

The male Mariah (46,533) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
This may come off a bit weird, but months ago, I remember someone here mentioning that George Michael was in some ways like the male Mariah. I agree. I mean, of course not commercially - the guy never came close to revisiting the highs of his Faith era. But they're similar in several ways. They're both blessed with distinctive, soulful voices. They both write and produce almost all of their material. They're both opulent singers. They both consistently create beautiful, memorable melodies. They both like to experiment with other genres sometimes while staying true to their roots. Mariah flirts with hip-hop the way George fearlessly dabbles into trance. Both have this rare ability to be current while remaining timeless. If I had to pick similar albums from them, I think Patience is George's TEOM, as both LPs were comeback efforts and have this mature, celebratory vibe. More importantly though, I'd consider Older his Butterfly. Both records were their first really personal releases, sharing the same dark, somber, yet sultry vibe, as well as feature plush, mostly downtempo production. I'm glad Mimi covered OMT. I hope George returns the favor in the future. Better yet, I hope they'd be able to collaborate someday.

My last post (46,532) by Dove from USA
I just read my last post and realized it sounds really mean and judgemental. I apologize if I offended anyone, that was not my intention. It was just what was on my mind, uncensored. I do that sometimes, I'll write something, and it feels right, but then when I read it later, I realize it could be misinterpreted. I didn't mean to offend so I apologize in advance if I did.

Thoughts (46,531) by Abraham from USA
Whether Mariah is planning on re releasing "MIAMTEC" or is working on another album. (Which I'm hoping she is.) I'd like to give my thoughts for an album. Mimi L gave some good suggestions. Mine are basically almost the same. Mariah did great with "Beautiful". To me it's different, but still sounds classic. Like "Dreamlover" or something from "Music Box". So I think she should definitely work with Happy Perez again. Sia and Pharell are other producers to consider. I think Sia and Mariah could come up with something great. I agree that Mariah should record songs with artists that are relevant as now. (No shade to Nas, Miguel, Whale or Fabulous.) I love their work on those 4 songs. I'd rather have male featured artists than females. Like Bruno Mars, Usher, John Legend, Maxwell, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke. R Kelly especially. Or even an older artist, like Stevie Wonder. But I guess a song with a female artist wouldn't hurt. As for a first single. A fun, up tempo or ballad song. But an MJ or WH cover would be great. Preferably "You are not alone" and "You give good love/Take good care of my heart". As for videos, Mariah can do what she wants. I just care about the music.
