Don't view Katy's video (45,753) by John from USA
I would just caution everyone from buying into this controversy Katy has concocted. This is nothing more than just a trick to get views for her video as they now do count into Billboard's Hot 100 charts. It also generates more buzz for her track, and more buzz usually translates to more sales. I for one, will never view this video. Katy will be gone in another 2 years or so anyway, trust.

Katy Perry (45,752) by George Golden from UK
So Katy Perry feels she has reached the level where she can mock a legend like Mariah Carey. With her bogus facebook likes and bogus twitter followers, she feels she is on top. How many albums has she sold? Does she stand out with a unique voice? Does she have a catalouge like Mariah? She is not on Mariah's level so she should just take several seats.

Top 10 Hip Hop Mariah Carey bangers (45,749) by IheartMC from USA
I have been on a Mariah craze lately and it's been with mainly her hip hop infused pop/r&B tracks. But that always happens to me because at the same token next week I may want to just listen to her ballad side lol. However this is my list of top 10 hip hop laced bangers from our MC although it's very to narrow down a list when talking MC songs. Here it goes:
1. My All Stay Awhile Remix (classic, this may be my fave of all time)
2. Fantasy Bad Boy Remix (classic and it began a trend)
3. Thirsty (loving this track lately and it is her latest banger)
4. Obsessed (fun and catchy and the beat knocks)
5. We Belong Together remix (classic)
6. Migrate (criminally underrated and still mad it wasn't given the single treatment)
7. Don't Forget About Us (DJ Clue Remix) (hot remix- underrated much)
8. Side Effects (lyrics, beat and sick melody all make this a gem)
9. I'll Be Loving You Long Time (this should have been the second single from E=MC2, such an overlooked hot beat and hook)
10. I Know What You Want (I mean although it was only a hook feature Mariah made that the hot song it is)
11. #Beautiful DJ Mustard Remix (had to incude this hot remix, I know it's the 11th but I told you this is "impossible" lol)
Honorable mention: You Don't Know What To Do (Feat. Wale). Please let me know what are you fave MC hip hop laced bangers.

Loyal lamb: fave covers (45,748) by IheartMC from USA
What I love about Mariah is that it is always difficult to have just a top 5 of fave Mariah songs let alone just 5 covers. Her music is the type that can even rotate and have you change up your faves constantly. She is that good a singer/songwriter. Btw not including the Christmas covers because we all know she slayed Oh Holy Night. I call it the new standard. Top 6 (not easy) lol:
1. Endless Love
2. Against All Odds
3. Sweetheart
4. I'll Be There
5. Beautiful Ones
6. Without You
Honorable mention: I Want To Know What Love Is (I love the toned down vocals and the amazing climax), such an underrated gem. This woman is magic. Here's hoping we can get a Mariah returning to form with her live showings and promotion of this rocking new album Me. I AmMariah.

Relevancy (45,747) by B from USA
Mariah's talent and marriage to Nick makes her relevant. If the press wasn't talking about her then I'd be worried.

Covers (45,746) by B from USA
My All/Stay Awhile
Without You
Somwhere Over The Rainbow
Sweetheart
I Still Believe
I think she originally recoreded DYKWYGT for #1's.

TJ (45,745) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Does it always start with Heartbreaker? If I remember correctly for TAOM it started with ILT and ended with WBT and when she walked out, Butterfly was played as outro. Not the whole song. And Butterfly tour started with Emotions. But it always ends with the Butterfly outro. I haven't seen any world tour personally, I just saw the videos of the tour. Anyways but you are right, it would be nice to have her change up the routine. Especially now since she has 3 albums which were not performed live much. She can let go of some of the older songs for now. I think one reason she doesn't let go of those songs in the set list is because she doesn't want to disappoint the fans who love the Mariah classics like she mentioned in a few interviews when talking about choosing set lists. However she has a lot of new material and it would be nice if those are given more priority since adding older songs leaves limited spots for newer ones.

Re: Tour (45,743) by TJ from Norway
I'm afraid that the new tour will include a lot of the old formula. Heartbreaker first and Butterfly at the end. I would love a show with less predictable choices.

Covers / Katy Perry (45,741) by PJW from The U.K.
Sweetheart is my favourite cover, hands down. As a kid I always loved the Rainy Davis version but her vocals were never quite as good as that beat so it was like all my Christmas' had come at once when Mariah re-did it. It's R'n'B perfection. The Beautiful Ones took me a long time to come around to as I'm a Purple Rain fanatic, especially that song live, and Sisqo really winds me up sometimes but now I hear it completely differently. It's gorgeous. I don't understand the hate IWKWLI gets sometimes? I adore it, especially coming off the end of that fantastic sequence starting with The Impossible. It may not be long enough but I don't see that as a reason to dislike a song. Her vocals are beautifully restrained and the whole thing sounds quite delicate to me, fragile in the prettiest of ways. R.e. Katy Perry, I get why there could be a dig buried in there but really, it's Katy Perry. Who's fussed? As for the drag queen thing, you all know that Mariah calls herself a drag queen, right?

Tour (45,740) by tadatorao from japan
She has three albums to catch up with for the next tour, namely E=MC2, MOAIA, MIAMTEC. Just wondering which song she will choose to be the opening track for the next tour. Meteorite?

Duets album (45,739) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Lady GaGa has recently been toning down her image in prepartion for the release of her duet album with Tony Bennett. It's nice to see her tap into her jazz side, especially since she's predominantly known as an electronic artist. In fairness, her voice does fit well with the genre. Not as well as Mariah's, though. Will Mariah ever release a duets album? I personally wouldn't mind, even if it's just with one partner for the whole album or with a gaggle of other artists. If you were to choose artists (male or female) you dream of her to do a duet with on an official recording, who will be your top 3? Mine would be:
3) Celine Dion
2) Michael Buble
1) Stevie Wonder

Perfect sequencing (45,738) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I agree that this probably is the most flawless sequencing that Mariah has done on any of her albums so far. Though it doesn't tell the clearest, most cohesive story, it's more of how she chose the transitional elements that really tie the whole thing together. The journal-writing, the drink-pouring, the match-lighting, dembabies singing, the Warhol-quoting - looks like Mariah's taken a page from Janet's book and it worked really well, as each track segues into the next seamlessly without any jarring tempo shifts.

Something about Mariah Carey (45,737) by Jen from Manila from Philippines
Hi to everyone, peace, love and respect to all citizens of Mariah Carey from all over the world. I think she should make a catchy video that is not too young or too simple just right for her stature. She should make more videos from her album Me. I am. Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse. I just don't get it why there are songs that were so underrated or didn't made into the charts or perhaps just the 100 or 200 mark. Ribbon, H.A.T.E.U and others should have made it big. Anyway no matter what the important thing is that she gives us beautiful, catchy, romantic, gospel, disco, ballad songs that we can listen and dance to hehe. As for me I listen to all her albums everyday. More power to us Mimi fans, to the queen Mariah and to her record label and staff.

Katy (45,736) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
This will be my last say on this topic. There's no point in comparing the two - really, they're different artists from different generations. Shade or no shade, Katy and Mariah will never be in the same league even in time comes that she surpasses her #1s, it's artistry that's timeless and speaks for itself.

Charmbracelet tour - Malaysia February 2004 (45,735) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
Mariah is heading again for the second time in Malaysia in October 2014, so I just want to share my experience went to her concert in 2004. The show supposed to start at 8.00 pm but she only began at 9.15 pm. It's worth the wait, anyway. She started the show by sitting/sanding at the backseat of a convertible car and the driver drove round the stadium and Mariah waved and smiled to all her 30,000 fans that night. She performed 15 songs in total and the highlight of the show was when she showcased her powerful vocals belting her popular ballads; My All, Without You, Hero, I'll Be There and Through The Rain. Those 5 songs are very popular on the radio in Malaysia as well as in Asia. No lipsyncing or pre-recorded at all, trust me. Mariah sang live for the entire 1 hour and a half. Maybe her voice is more suitable to a warm climate. On her outfits, she only wore pink t-shirt and blue jeans throughout the show due to the protests made by certain Islamic extremists on her sexy and revealing outfits on stage. So I was very glad that Mariah didn't cancel her show and yet she obliged the dress code. On the next day after the concert, Mariah was commended by all the local press and medias for being a true professional. This really shows that Mariah is in fact a humble person and full of respect towards other religions, cultures.

Covers and KP video (45,734) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
Without a doubt, Help Me Make It Through the Night is my favourite cover of Mariah's. Now, I'll probably be tracked down and killed for what I'm about to say, but I really like Katy Perry's video. Infact, it would be awesome to see Mariah do something as playful in her next video.

Tour (45,733) by Darryle from USA
I've never seen Mariah in concert so I was wondering if someone who's seen her could help me out. Does she do autographs after or before the concert? Is it mostly hits and a few new songs or the opposite way? Does she interact with the fans on stage sometimes?

Covers (45,732) by RockyRoc from England
My most favourite MC song is actually a cover, The Beautiful Ones, it may not actually be her song, but she sure made it her own, I find it more easier to listen to than the original. My second favourite cover is I still Believe (Pure Imagination), ugh it's gorgeous and mellow.

I completely forgot that Sweetheart was a cover. Woops. I love all of Mariah's covers, but my favorites are Bringin' On The Heartbreak and Help Me Make It Through the Night.

First posting (45,730) by maleRN from USA
I've followed the Archives for a long time without posting. Katy Perry pushed me over the edge, ha. I don't know why she aggravates me so much. I think it has something to do with the way she repeatedly disses her fellow female artists. You don't see Beyonce or Gaga disrespecting their peers, but supporting them. She's had three successful pop albums now, but in my opinion, that success is based on tacky music videos, a sexualized image, and autotune. Her live performances are sort of painful to listen to. It irks me that she has the audacity to turn MC into a caricature. It's so reductive (no, I am not a Madonna fan) and condescending. Even the line insinuating that she sucks at Carey-oke is laced with sarcasm. MC could shade the mess out of her with "Thirsty". So many lines in the song could apply to KP. It might be the mature thing for MC to take the "high road", but I kind of hope MC has some fun with the video and goes to town on all these disrespectful girls.

B / Katy Perry (45,729) by Abraham from USA
I liked your post about the songs. I agree, but you forgot "Heavenly". That's one hell of a song. I love when Mariah does gospel. Katy Perry , ugh. We shouldn't even bother discussing her. She's irreverent, and compared with Mariah is a joke. She has zero talent. She's just jealous of Mariah. A buddy of mine on YouTube put her on his "Worst female singers" vids. So if any of you all haven't seen any of them, please do. You'll laugh.

Covers (45,728) by Bill from the UK
My favourite cover would be the first and fairest of them all, I'll Be There. I can (and have) played nothing but that song continuously for hours and it never gets tiresome. Unplugged is my favourite album and there was a certain magic in the air that night and it built and built until it peaked with that performance. It is light years better than the original, and I love watching performances of Mariah and Trey over the years singing this. Their friendship just shines through and it's such an appropriate song for two friends to sing together. Nothing tops it in my opinion, but honourable mentions would be for Without You, Endless Love with Luther and I Still Believe.
