The AI thing (44,923) by Matthew from USA
Mimi, you said that if Mimi is paid 18 mil, why bother cat fight with a girl years younger than you? Just keep your cool, end the season with dignity, then quit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that exactly what she did? After the altercation in which Nicki let loose on her, she pretty much took herself out of any interaction with Nicki. Unfortunately, that made her look like an ice queen who didn't want to interact. I guess she just was not able to smile and small talk with Nicki for the sake of appearances with someone who publicly went off at you at work. Perhaps she should have smiled and pretended everything was OK, but since she couldn't she did the next best thing and ignored her. The few times they did manage to interact, it was a disaster. Nicki even told her to clean her ears out with a Q-Tip. I see what you are saying Mimi, but I really do feel MC handled it as best as she could. Even Keith says he felt like both women were brought in with the intention of pitting them against each other. So I guess my point is that sometimes we love Mariah too much and we blame other people for her failures. But in this particular case, I do believe that a large portion of the blame for the whole fiasco lies with the producers.

Randy (44,922) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Thanks Randy. I almost deleted my post but then decided against it. I love MC, I don't even listen to any other artists (except MJ). That is because I truly respect her craft, her creativity, the emotion she puts in her songs and the lyrics. However I am not blind. Blaming others is always not the way when MC is sometimes also at fault. She started of playing the diva as a joke but I think after a certain point she just got lost in the world that she created and now knows no other reality. (Think being the keyword here.) I agree, that if she is paid $18 million, why bother cat fighting with a girl years younger than you? Just keep your cool, end the season with dignity and then quit. We can go around blaming JLo, and Nicki (I won't include Madonna because that shade was well deserved) but someone of M's level can just be gracious and not pretend like she doesn't know the others. I cringed at the Barbara Walters interview she did when Nicki said "off with your head" and that she beefed up security. She really thought Nicks Minaj would shoot her? I can think of a million other ways that they could have resolved the issue.

Mimi (44,921) by Randy from USA
I agree with your post about Nicki and JLo wholeheartedly. I blame MC for that American Idol foolishness. If they paid me that amount of money, I wouldn't have cared that there was another female judge and definitely wouldn't have thrown her shade. In addition, after Nicki finally reached her boiling point and went off, I would've tried to peace the whole thing out for the sake of the show. MC gave her the silent treatment. I watched Idol and never cared for Nicki beforehand but she articulated her words better and was likeable. MC started to come off as an ice queen. Look as far as this new era; there have been a lot of complaints, giving up, judgments, criticism. I can't let go of the fact that this is the woman who wrote My All, Butterfly, Right To Dream, Langushing, Outside, Close My Eyes and Looking In. Those are genius moments and I don't see the image/diva attitude meshing with that lyricist but she's in there somewhere. I think MC is gonna give us something else great one day in the future.

White-centric "fans" (44,920) by nOVA from USA
It's so funny to me you people debating her usage of certain words at her age. That is a white-centric attitude that so-called proper English is only appropriate when young. And your obsession with her fixing her supposed broke [...] - oh [...] again, you are suggesting she conform herself to some white-centric idea of the [...] R&B artist. And I appreciate that the webmaster has committed much time to this site, but she hasn't even posted all of my posts or my tags that I attach to my posts, the tagging and the post weren't Anglo enough, I guess. MC's album had just dropped and I was fiercely expressing my pride. Yes I can sound Anglo too, I'm mixed race. But let's keep it real, you all don't want MC [...]. Are you going to post this webmaster?

Mariah Carey stand ups for sale (44,919) by Ryan Kane from KY
I have two different Mariah stand ups that I need to sell before I relocate across country. I have had these life size cut outs for about 7 years and I hate to see them go, but have to get ready for the move. They would be a great to anyone's Mariah collection. I am asking $175 for each (about half of what I paid for them). I'm not sure how much shipping will be but that is someone I can figure out if you are interested. I don't know how to upload pics, but email me and I will send pics of both to you if you are interested (unless someone can tell me how to upload pics here). My email is ryakane27@gmail.com. Hope these to home to a lamb and someone who will take care of them and appreciate them like I do.

Nick (44,918) by Dove from USA
I like the videos that Nick directs. Marian looks genuinely happy. Like in I Stay In Love where he picks her up at the end. Or UOMF. Her smile is real. I love seeing that side of her.

It could be (44,917) by Dove from USA
A really good movie musical Iike Grease. She could partner with Disney/Pixar to make it a classic. I wish I could sing and brand myself. I'd pimp myself out and be really creative without caring what people thought. Mariah is in a good place because she is already rich and a living legend. She can be really creative and try just about anything at this point. I would love if she released an album of standards. Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Like what Gloria Estefan did, but Gloria doesn't have Mariah's silky smooth voice, so it didn't do it for me. I know she's a song writer and is insulted when we ask for other people's songs but it would be awesome if she did. I wish we were friends so we could talk and tell her our ideas.

24/7 Mariah (44,916) by Karen Glass from USA
Hi fellow fans. I just discovered a 24/7 Mariah channel on pluto.tv. It's free and I'm loving it. I just watched Don't Forget About Us (she looks so amazing in that video, can't believe she's in her 40s) and then "You're Mine". Check it out friends.

Movie (44,915) by Dove from USA
I was listening to MIAM in the car and I had a great idea. I was watching reruns of Jem & the Holograms with my niece on Netflix last night. While listening to the album I was thinking it tells a story - what if they made a movie musical out of it? Either animated or with real people. I'm imagining it really colorful, like Jem. Then each song would have a music video. It's something adult fans could enjoy with their kids. When I watch Jem as an adult I see things that went over my head when I was a kid. If done well I think it could be really cool.

Re: The fabulous Miss Monroe (44,914) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
I don't think Mariah meant Roe is a "diva" in the negative sense. She's just saying Monroe is a girly girl like her. She just a little sweet princess. I see no signs of brattiness at all from Mariah's children I must say. Dem babies seem incrediably sweet and full of personality.

Re linguist (44,912) by TR from USA
Ehh sometimes I can take her thug verbiage and sometimes it's like she's trying to be that other overhyped, undereducated individual with a "hive" stans. I digress. I think it's it wresting when you compare the regression of her writing style over the years. In some cases it works very well (I love "gooder" and "oh you a G now?"). In other cases it does come across that she's trying too hard to be 20 and clearly the world knows she's not, so it hammers home the fact that she's washed up. Who wants to hear anyone their mom's age saying "up out my face boy". Uhh.

Daley (re: Carlos Jaramillo) (44,911) by Edward from USA
I bought "Days & Nights" by Daley. I sat and listen undisturbed, and I'm actually impressed. He has, as you stated, Mariahsque inflections in his style of singing. If he writes his own music, he's definitely a great lyricist. I'm so happy to see quality music being released, I just hope people give talent a chance. Thanks for recommending his music, I hadn't ever heard anything from him before.

Re Monroe (44,910) by TR from USA
Believe me I'm not calling that adorable kid a brat by any means lol. I don't know them. I'm just saying if someone I know personally has a daughter that age as is going around explaining her behavior as "she's such a diva", my first thought would be that the baby gets whatever she wants and is prone to tantrums if they're not delivered, since divas are notoriously difficult and demanding. I'm jut saying it's not cute to term your toddler a diva all over the place. Once or twice is funny, but in response to every mention of dembabies - when it's not even the question? (Hahaha, that was shade, lol. Sorry. She's my Mimi and I love her but when someone asks her about her album and she answers with something like "it was so hard to stay focused because I have like eighty dogs running around my house and their names are..."). I'm like .

Little Ms Monroe the Chanteuse (44,909) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
So really guys? That's what we're gonna do now? Come for Little Miss Monroe? She's just a little girl that admires her mother, who just so happens to be someone we've loved and admired as well. Can you blame her? There's nothing to be alarmed by, I'm sure Roc and Roe, are being raised right. Do you guys forget how great of a person Mariah and Nick both are? The philanthropy? The spiritual awareness? The work ethic? These kids have two great loving parents. Lets take our "negative" blinders off for a second and acknowledge that. Case in point: Ms Monroe ran over and asked her daddy was he okay and told him to be careful, when he played as if Roe knocked him out. Shows that she already cares for others.

Diva thing OOC (44,908) by May from Denmark
I feel that MC talked so much about the idea of diva that she ended up believing it. One of the things that turned me down as being a hardcore fan was the drastic change in her personality over the years. Yes she used to use the word "darling" but it was not over the top as it is now. I can't watch or hear through a whole interview because many times she just rambles and mumbles and then does that thing with her face to a side while still mumbling things and covering her face with her hair. It's repetitive and tiresome. The same with the lightning thing, the make up stuff, the pinky up when holding a cup and the usual splash of whatever thing she is drinking and the insufferable uncomfortable looking poses. There is this other thing that drives me insane and is that she can't even deliver a real joke anymore, it feels forced all the time and when she can't finish it because she doesn't know what to say she simply laughs and replies "whatever". Before she was truely funny, it was spontaneous, she didn't have to try so hard all the time. This is my point of view ofc. Maybe it's an age crisis or something, I don't know. This whole "diva" thing started really heavy when she got to perform for the Divas VH1, she would joke at first, then it got out of hand. I don't like it. And I even loved when she did her Bianca role, was so much fun. It would be nice to see her walking with strength in her performances but her dresses make seem contrived.

Interview (44,905) by G.G. from USA
J-Lo did an interview with The Breakfast Club this morning and she said. "We had the time where we would drop the thing and it would go straight to #1 and the album would go to #1 and we did that two, three times, four times over. She (Mariah) probably did it more times than I did." Lol there's no probably (all caps) about it. You tried it with that comment. She really thinks she's in the same lane as Mariah. The delusion is very real.

MC, Nicki, JLo (44,903) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This may sound negative and some lambs may "come at me" for this, but please bear in mind I'm just giving my opinion, I'm not trying to pretend it's a fact. Also, I love MC, her songs give me life, can't really say the same about Nicki and JLo (I am not a fan of those 2). I agree with those who say that JLo is more "likable" in the sense that when you hear her interviews, she sounds sweet, she answers questions directly instead of beating around the bush, and I have yet to see an interview of hers where she disses MC. She did allow Mottola to use her to sabotage MC, but that was near the beginning of her career and one has to understand that in this business you either swim or drown, so she did what she had to do for her career and it's not like she was best buddies with MC and went around her back to sabotage her. She not only acknowledges MC, she always has nice things to say about her and even said she's a fan. And as for Nicki, I thought at first that it was all a publicity stunt by both their camps but oh well. However even Nicki had said that she loved MC and was extremely happy when MC not only asked her to do a duet but also allowed her to be in the video. She sounded genuinely starstruck that an artist of Mc's caliber had included her. During AI when she went to Ellen she said that she was surprised about what went wrong and said something along the lines that "imagine you idolize somebody all your life and when you finally meet her she hates you". So basically, I think MC's larger than life personality is making her sound untouchable and maybe haughty at times and that may put off some people. I watch her old interviews (pre 2000s) and she sounds so sweet and nice (which I am sure she still is) and it's fun to watch. Nowadays she is taking the diva antics to a whole other level. No, I am not telling her to be fake niceness. MC said it herself that the diva act is just for the show. So basically she is faking that, why not balance the sweet 90s Mariah and the diva Mariah, instead of always relying on the diva act?

this_is_qhm from the Philippines (44,901) by Lee from UK
It seems that all of your highlights are my lowlights. I thoroughly dislike the lyrics "Oh you a G now?" and "turnt-up" and "gooder". I understand the use of colloquialism but I really don't think Mariah uses these in her every day language (she certainly doesn't in interviews) so I don't understand why she would sound this way in her music. There is nothing wrong with good old-fashioned standard English. (I mean come on "gooder"? Really, Mariah?) I dislike the GaGa-type delivery of the Warhol quote on Meteorite. Dembabies voices are freaky on Supernatural and saying Mariah belts on that song "like it's '95 again" is stretching the truth a bit. There are things I like about this album though and it goes by the name of Make It Look Good.

Monroe (44,900) by B from USA
I think Mariah means Monroe likes the finer things in life. I don't get the brat comment. She's a little girl. Little girls like gems and high heels. Mariah's closet would be heaven on earth for a girly girl.

Daley (re Carlos) (44,898) by TR from USA
Yes. Daley is saving R&B right now, and he is a Mariah fan to boot, so you already know he has certain inflections in his delivery. If you don't look up any other song of his, check out his live acoustic cover of Climax. Usher is no longer allowed to perform it. Stolen, repackaged, and sold. Daley slayed it. His album Days And Nights is 14 unskippable tracks of perfection. Also, you have to check out Allen Stone, this hippie kid from like Out Of Nowhere, Oregon. I'm not going to say this lightly: He gives me all kinds of Stevie Wonder. And his falsetto is absolutely nasty. Look up any of his live performances of You And I or I Can't Make You Love Me.
