Yes that's exactly what I also wanted to say. I am more than sure that the interviewers still get a guideline about what they can and what they must ask her. Even if they forget, Mariah brings it up herself into the the conversation so that's why the interviews are repetitive. Secondly if they even ask a question that she doesn't approve of she gives a very vague reply or talks about something completely different. Like in the NBC special she was vague about what's going on with her and Nick and in the Letterman interview he asked her something personal (I forgot what) and she completely ignored it and went on to talk about the album name generator app. About the promotions, it is her album and she should promote it. I don't care what people say, I for one am baffled that why spend so much time and effort on a product and then let it sink? Then why didn't she just release the album she had readied by 2012 or even 2013 and leave IDJ. Come on. Mariah has delayed the release dates because she wasn't happy with the track list, then she didn't like the way that her title got leaked and all that. If she didn't want a hit, then why bother? And if she wants a hit then why not work for it? Also, as fans, it's one thing to be fine with the way the album is performing but people shouldn't stop other people from expressing their opinions.

Honestly, it really pisses me off when some people here go on telling others how to feel about MC and how much of a fan (from 0 to Lamb) can a person be and how one should get a life outside of MC just because some of us are complaining about the lack of promotions. Who are you to tell people to get a life? Do you know the others personally? It's your opinion whether you like the album or not or whether you care about promotions or not, so stick to it, don't tell others to shut up. If I have an opinion, I will come and say it, so please don't tell me that I am obsessed with M, I love her and care about her as an artist and I don't think it's a crime to hope that she gets back on the top, regardless of whether it happens or not. As for her being filthy rich and that she doesn't need money, well buddy no one is talking about her bank balance, but if she wants to remain a relevant artist she'll have to maintain a minimum level of success, whether you agree or not. As for interviews, it's part of her job, she needs to do it and it's not just that the interviewers that ask her the same questions. You can be more than sure MC has a lot of control over what they ask. There are times when she herself brings up the common topics (biracial parentage, difficult life, when she started singing) without the interviewer asking her. Her new fans might not know about it, so she repeats them. Anyways my point is, don't go around telling others how to feel towards M. You don't need to be rude.

Promotion next week (44,553) by thomas holt from Denmark
So what are the hopes for this, I wonder. I (like many other people here) finD it really odd how nothing is going on with this album. Even though memoirs underpeformed, she still promoted it all over the US and in the UK aswell. Do you think we will get more info on promo next week maybe?

IDJ (44,552) by Bill from the UK
Has it been explicitly stated anywhere that Mariah is desperately unhappy with the support her label have given her? I know she had a hang up about Migrate not being released, but on the main they've pretty much let her do what she wants creatively. A lot of people here are saying she's glad to be out of her contract, but how do you know? She may turn around and sign for another three albums.

Nikki / MIAMTEC is great, the rest is a mess (44,551) by Edward from USA
Nikki, I never said anything about Mariah's career being over during Charmbracelet or ever. The game is just way different now than it was in 2005. Albums have been steadily declining since then. Mariah once was young and she was catered to, just like Rihanna and Katy are being catered to these days. It is the way it is, nobody stays at the top for ever. The voice change for whatever reason (smoke, weed, alcohol, age), people get older, fans also grow older. When I stated "Even if it has to take her 1000 sessions to put a song together" it wasn't meant to be taken literally. I meant that I would still buy her music no matter how she puts it together and when. I would never write her off, but unless she does something different, she'll be getting the same results. I love MIAMTEC, the product is great, the rest is a mess, and when I say a mess, I mean it... literally.

Almost there Randy (44,550) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
The only thing that I remember being a bit different was that back while on Rainbow/Glitter/Charmbracelet interviews, interviewers weren't allowed to ask Mariah what they wanted to. MC used to give them a sheet with the questions you had to ask, the questions you could and the questions you could not ask at all and you also had to sign a legal agreement not to disclose that. IDK if that changed in the last decade but I guess it hasn't and that's why her interviews are repetitive: you have to ask her about being biracial, a songwriter, had been controlled by the bad guy, how successful she is and her No. 1's. I guess she added Nick and the baby's to the equation. So, the interviews are always the same because of her. I can't get why she's sharing pics in the park and by the pool with her babies (nothing wrong in a way) when she'd be promoting the album. IDJ is not the one to blame, they're waiting 2 years for the album and MC kept on pushing it back, how could they "promote it" not knowing when it was coming out? Also, MC's been kind of openly bad-talking IDJ so. Oh yes, she is a mom, that's why she cannot work capital lol. I truly feel she's concerned on other stuff right now and it must be her ending relationship to Nick. Even on NBC interview he almost didn't appeared and the 5 seconds he got she didn't even turn her sight on him. Maybe that's why she's not promoting. Her body seems as well to be showing she's in a bad place mentally. Sadly this album has the potential.

Nikki / for clarification / great album, but... (44,549) by Edward from USA
Nikki, Mariah signed a 20-million contract with IDJ for 4 albums (Charmbracelet, TEOM, E=MC2, MOAIA) with an option of a fifth album (MIAMTEC). Holidays compilation (MCIIY) don't count as regular albums. After MOAIA she decided to go with the fifth album option, but then LA Read, who was Mimi's main support, left IDJ. IDJ secured a clear channel airplay for #Beautiful plus its accompanying video on 2013, things were taking off, lack of promotion for #Beautiful, delays came, Mariah didn't think the album was ready, she had the accident, more delays, TAOLG(yes, Mimi called it a single) and YM(E) didn't perform as expected. Great album, such a messy delivery. From a business standpoint, IDJ must've wanted to be done with this album. By the way things are looking, they might not even recoup what they have spent so far. So, I'm glad she's completely done with IDJ and ready to move on with her endeavors. I hope she gets Mr. Medina for her next album.

MC and promo (44,548) by Randy from USA
I agree. Some of you need a life outside of MC. I have to admit, I loathe this album. The webmaster can tell you, I have been critical of her "live" performances. But I can't understand for the life of me why some of you are insistent on and repulsed by her lack of promotion. If she doesn't want to sit with an interviewer, fly or go to every venue possible, isn't that her choice? They ask her the same 5 questions all the time. She's a songwriter. She's a mom. She's biracial. She's loved music since an early age. She's finally free. We never get anything new. She has enough money now where MIAMTEC could sell 5 copies and it wouldn't make her a damn bit of difference. Let the woman do what she pleases. In 2008, I thought she was heading into an unplugged, singer-songwriter kind of mode with Right To Dream. When she released MOAIA, I said "OK. At least she gave me the gift of Languishing." I could care less and probably she could to about what the fans want. It's about her, the artist, the human being. As a teacher, yeah I want my students to like and support me but I can't live for them and she doesn't live for you all. If she wants to go on one talk show and drop an album with one song that's only thirty seconds that's her business. Do you care for her beyond idolization? She needs to do what she wants and I, as someone disappointed can accept that, it's her life, her career, her choice. Maybe that's why I'm a fan and not a lamb. Or maybe too many of you are obsessed.

Really? (44,547) by nikki from usa
"Your audacity is too much to be believed." Edward, my man, that is the same speech you gave during Charmbracelet about MC's career being over. Then, TEOM comes around and you "knew she could do it". And 1000 takes to make a song? Did she and Buble have 1000 takes to record "All" on stage? Or Jimmy Fallon's outtake for the lambily on The Art Of Letting Go or her Christmas song? What about the Carlyle performance, that certainly wasn't planned. What has happened so drastically between then and now? More importantly, why would MC be so ecstatic to tour if she can't sing live anymore or needs 1000 takes to get it right?

Why? (44,546) by Danny Braden from Uk
I don't get some of the comments on this board. What is the constant obsession with comments like "we need to accept this" or "it's time to realise she won't have another hit"? First of all why feel the need to try and make that a fact instead of an opinion and secondly I thought her fans had more respect to count her out. I'll give up when Mariah does. I think some of her fans are a bit old now. That's the problem. Everyone is so negative about her career now including her fans and I won't use the word lambs.

Promotion (44,545) by NYHotShotta from USA
Mariah and IDJ may be having a bad relationship but Mariah needs to be promoting this album still. Mariah had a bad relationship with Sony and in that she took 3 months to record Rainbow and just wanted to be done with the whole thing but she still heavily promoted that album. I think she needs to release more singles, music videos, and take better interviews where she talks more about the album and less about everything else. Also, it sucks that the WMA might not ever air and we won't be able to see her perform Meteorite.

Some perspective (44,544) by nikki from usa
Here in Florida is one of MC's hot spots for support. When YME was released, not a single station debuted it. It wasn't even an option in the request box. When I called one of the stations and talked to an intern he claimed they didn't have it. One of the light FM stations went so far as to plug her new album, but then played ABMB. I guess they didn't have it either. Forget promo, DJ didn't fully release the track to radio. Back in 2002 it stated MC's contract was for 3 albums, meaning she signed on again after E=MC2. Most likely another 3 albums. Now, just like Virgin did, Def Jam cleaned house - her original team of people were/are being transferred, demoted, and promoted. She doesn't have a team. Add on to that, this album has been pushed back 2 years which would force it to struggle anyway. It's pretty common for a label to simply write off an artist's album as a tax deduction, not promote it, and just accept whatever money it brings in. This was done to LLCoolJ. I'm hoping at this point, DJ's just releasing another song to radio fully this time, so Mariah can jump start her tour. I can't wait to see her, she never disappoints. She can bring the albums with her and people can buy them after hearing it live. Spend $50 on memorabilia, why not buy an album? Although, she hasn't talked about it in awhile, MC mentioned something about her being on tv and I'm not talking NBC's special.

It is what it is, it is either take her or leave her (44,543) by Edward from USA
I guess Mariah is not going to kill herself promoting when IDJ is not doing its part either. It is evident she has let go of the singer we all expect her to be. So, it is time to continue on the ride or move on, as simple as that. The Mariah circa 1990-2005 won't come back, ever. Not only because of her voice is not the same, but because of the circumstances and what people are catering today. She is not the "it" of the moment, and her absence from the music scene has contributed what is happening with her career on 2014. It is hard for me because I got used to the successful Mariah, the record breaking, but I'm slowly getting used to what's left. The older Mariah gets, the less likely she'll have another hit, so I expect 2 albums before she turns 50 to wrap it all up. Make my piece with the lip-syncing, bad performances, state of her voice. It is what it is. It's either take her or leave her. At this point, I'm thankful for technology and the studio, even if it has to take her 1000 sessions to put a song together.

Edward (44,542) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I really hope you are right and we get more Mariah music real soon yay. I know, I know she just gave us 14 good tracks, but I am always greedy for more Mariah. I hope the theory about Mariah locking away some of her good music for her new album which she will release after she storms out of Def Jam because that would explain why after 5 years Mariah's deluxe edition contains old songs from a previous album. At first I was happy that the remixes were included because I thought they were re-sung and turned into a completely different song like she did with H.A.T.E.U. but when it was just a copy paste job, I was disappointed. But either ways even if Mariah does plan to release another album, it doesn't mean she should just let this one sink. Why end an era with an under performing album when this could have been her latest big hit? After all people are calling out Mariah's sale figures being low, nobody (the GP/critics/ people writing the articles on the first week sales) are blaming Def Jam. It's always gonna be like "oh the Mariah album bombed".

Mariah Mariah (44,541) by Badr from USA
I seriously think Mariah has a serious PR problem. She needs, IMHO, to get rid of that extravagant persona that people perceive and appear more down-to-earth. Her look is not youthful anymore. Mariah is not 21 anymore but is not 100 either. It's funny how the image she showcases on the album cover doesn't match the one she presents live. Major branding problem.

The elusive success (44,540) by Jamie from UK
Some people are expecting way too much out of YDKWTD believing the single will save the album or whatever. Umm I wouldn't hold my breath. Let's be real, it's a good song but it's no We Belong Together. And if I'm gonna be totally honest I think there are potential hit singles on the album and none of them start with the letter Y. Anyway, I guess really instead of trying to explain her endless flops, it's time we all accepted she's not a hit machine any more. She had her time, what goes up must come down.

Question / complete my album (44,539) by Trish from USA
Does anyone know if you completed your album on iTunes (because you already owned TAOLG, Beautiful and YME) if that counts as an album sale? The way iTunes organizes the album on my phone, it still wants me to purchase those tracks making me wonder if my purchase counted towards album sales.

The elusive state of mind (44,538) by Justin from USA - Los Angeles
There is absolutely no way Mariah did this album and just expects it to sell with absolutely no promo. I think she is going to wait maybe a week or two and really just blow up, I want more than YME promo. I don't think it's possible for E=MC2 or TEOM promo withJ Jermaine. Maybe for her next label. But she needs "pull down them Tom Fords and act like you see" - as someone else said.

Billboard article about the dress (44,537) by Carlos Belizário from Brazil
I'm really pissed about the article Billboard posted about Mariah getting dressed in a gown to go to the park with dembabies. It's really sad because they're making her look like crazy. They call it "bizarre" and "it's Mimi just being Mimi". That is so lame considering she's releasing an album. I agree with someone here that said there's people there who doesn't like her.

Mariah and her mystery guest (44,536) by Edward from USA
When TAOLG morphed into MIAMTECT, I bet many songs were replaced with new ones. Kick Rocks, for example, is supposed to be a great track praised by a DJ who had heard at Mariah's home. Mariah knew the possible fate of this album, she is not dumb, so she probably saved some of her best work for the next album so she wouldn't have to spend so much time in the studio recording. We'll most likely have that mystery guest on her next album, and with all the material she has recorded in five years, believe me Mariah won't take too long to release the next album. Celine Dion duetted with Stevie Wonder in 2013. As soon as I knew about it, I was almost quite sure Mariah wouldn't feature Stevie on this album, and I am happy she didn't. R Kelly was on many people's records on 2013, so I'm also happy she didn't use him for this album either (except for out of place BGK part 2). I think we'll be surprised in the near future.

Mariah's new theme is "I don't care, I love it" (44,534) by John from USA
How do we solve a problem like Mariah? Well, she is surronded by "yes" people. She needs people who will actually challenge her and tell her "no" or "get your ass to work". I mean, why release an album at all if you're not going to work and promote it? If she wants to retire and just be a mommy, that's totally fine [...], or only do so when you're willing to put in the work required to not have it flop. She is no longer a "can do no wrong" artist like Katy or Rihanna. They have 1/10000th of Mariah's talent, but if they farted and recorded it, they would be number 1 hits and sell 3 billion downloads on iTunes. Based on how things have been going for her these last few years, I'm genuinely scared that E=MC2 may have been her last chance for an epic era. But she ruined that by releasing the wrong singles and by falling off the face of Earth after TMB (I remember hearing about a ton of appearances that she cancelled right after E=MC2 had its strong start). She was under 40 and looked amazing that era, that may have been her last chance. But then again, look at Cher and Madonna. Cher had her biggest hit "Believe" at 51, and I think Madonna was around 50 ish when she used Justin Timberlake to get a hit on "4 Minutes". Mariah can definitely have more commercial success, she just has to want it and be in a good place. And right now, I don't think she wants it nor is in the best of places. If she wants it, it's hers.

I agree with you on Medina. He is making Lopez look better than she really is. But her albums and movies still stink. Why would anyone go on Wendell Williams' show anyways? She (or he) would probably smile in her face and trash her behind her back.

Money (44,532) by B from USA
The Hit Boy beat is timeless. It's catchy. It's one of MC's best forays into hip hop. Money, this, that, the other don't mean nothing other than Jets on holidays, chefs with hollandaise, expensive lingerie because I come home to you.
