Are you excited? (42,585)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
By a show of thumbs up and down, who is excited for the album? Thumbs up if you're excited and thumbs down if you're just ready for the wait to be over. I was excited for #MC723, but after the extended delay, my excitement has turned into exhaustion. Don't get me wrong, I'm ready for the album but after a lot of disappointments I really don't have energy to be excited anymore. I was not feeling the singles aside from #Beautiful so that also zapped my excitement. At this point I'm curious to see how the music sounds and how everything turns out, but I'm not overly hyped about it.

Unreleased tracks (42,584)

I wish some of the songs that have leaked in the past should be released to iTunes. Songs like "Bring it on Home", "Help Me Make it Through the Night", "Imperfect", "Skydiving", "I Feel It" are awesome and I would love to download them legally.

Haha as I'm sitting here reading the messageboard, You're Mine (Eternal) came on the Hit List channel on TV. While I can see people's perspectives on why they may not like the song, I personally enjoy it a lot and it makes me smile every time it comes on. Just hearing that voice I love between all the other songs, especially on a newer recording that I haven't heard a thousand times, is like a breath of fresh air to me.

Mariah's new album (42,581)
by ADAM from USA
| |
|
|
Well said Mus from UK. I cannot wait for the new album and despite the little to no press regarding it, I think she's going to come hard this time. There's no other artist that has ever had me in such anticipation before a album release like MC. She always delivers a loaded package. There's the vocals, background vocals, lyrics, innuendoes, beautiful photos for whichever era we're in, etc. Mariah is the whole package and we're all so blessed that we have been able to follow her career for so long and been able to say that our girl always delivers. Let's hope she has a strong promo delivery scheduled and hopefully a world tour that she's been promising for many, many years. I don't care if she lip syncs, I just want to my my Mariah moment. Cheers, toast, bravo lol.

Long time viewer, first post (42,580)

First of all, I am glad to say that this is my first post on this message board. I have been coming to this site for years and I am glad to have finally taken the initiative and joined. I hope to fit in well among the rest of the Lambily. However, I want to comment on the upcoming album. Words cannot explain the excitement I feel in anticipation to the album. I am sure even if it does not chart well, which I doubt it won't, it will be a gem among those who appreciate good music and more importantly MC. I have been pondering the title of the album in my daydreaming and although it is very likely to include something related to a "journey", wouldn't it be funny if the title were "TBA", as in the rest of her life is "to be announced". I kind of like it, and it would certainly be more modern.

Farewell? (42,579)
by Musti from UK
| |
|
|
Ok so plenty of you have mentioned that this might be her last album; the "R" word that's giving all of us nightmares. Adam, I agree that the time she has taken to complete this album and the fact that she herself said "if this were my last album" might indicate the end is here. However, I also believe the stakes are quite high for her this time round. The last time she really rushed an album was Rainbow, and that was partly to record enough albums to satisfy her contract with Sony quickly. This time it's quite the opposite. With all this speculation that she has lost her voice and that her songwriting skills have gone dry, her contract with Def Jam expiring, her own lambily constantly criticising and doubting her, no wonder she wants to work this album to perfection. Part of the reason why Mariah is so real is the insecurities she has acquired throughout her life, so all this jibberish probably makes her want to work harder to make sure this album is a success. Not to mention she probably wants to make sure she can secure a nice record deal too after she leaves Def Jam. I don't think this is farewell. And even if it is, I wish we could all stop focusing on goodbyes and instead welcome the new album that is now less than 1 month away.

Album name (42,577)
by Gilbert from USA

I want it to be something solid, something that has to do with her professionalism and writing skills. Maybe just one word that makes you go bam. That's what I'm talking about but I've been breaking my brain for ideas to share and couldn't figure out any examples. Just hoping it's not a corny album title. Here is what I came up with. "Confessing a feeling", "Creation", or "Unmistakable". Damn it. I just want a strong album name.

Album title (42,574)
by Marky Mark from Australia

I think her album will have the word "journey" as she keeps saying that word when discussing the album. I reckon just "Journey" or maybe "My Journey", "Soul Journey", "Personal Journey" would be cool. I remember from the E=MC era when "Sweet Soul Odyssey" was thrown around. I wouldn't hate her if she named her album that.

Hey Ryan, Toronto here. ET is based in Toronto so I just realized that Mariah may have been in town and I not even knew it. Unless of course they flew to her. It was probably part of her international press campaign and they started with Canada because we're right next door.

Album title (42,571)
by Ryan from Canada

I think "The Evolution of Mariah" or just simply "Evolution" could be good album titles. But it is really not possible to name the album properly without hearing the music from it. Kenny, where in Canada are you from? It's pretty exciting that Mariah is doing some Canadian promo. She doesn't have the type of success here that she does in the US. I think she only has a few #1's on the Canadian Billboard charts. She is rarely played on radio here. It would be nice for her to have some success here. Maybe she would make it out to Western Canada finally for a concert. One can only dream.

Hey, Kenny. You're right dude. I'm totally getting hated on right now. Lol. It's really hard to interpret the thumbs up and down thing, sometimes. I've just found that so many people have different opinions that really, no one is "actually" wrong or right. It just is what it is. For instance, you got a whole bunch of thumbs down for your comment. Like, why? There was really nothing to like or dislike about your comment. It was just such a general statement. Even more of a question. Lol. Alas. I just keep the focus that I'm on here because of Mariah. Lol and a lot of people on here do bring some very valuable details and theories to the table. It's just par for the cause.

Hey. I definitely have a big mouth to say what I want when I feel it but, also have the wherewithal to retreat in shame and admit when I am wrong and, "clearly", Gilbert, the ladies and gentlemen of this board did not agree with me and my assumption was undeniably inaccurate. Clearly, I was the only one that shared that opinion. Lol and for that I apologize to you, sir.

Asi es amigo (that's how it is). I completely understand his point. Yes, I made a comment about someone but I didn't put that person on blast. Plus at the end of the day that was really meant to be funny. I just hope that no young people read his message because those are adult sites he posted and they don't need to be curious as to what that is. But I learned my lesson not to crack jokes like that because I come off as a thirsty sob. Lol pero asi es meng. You should send me a KIK message. Wow Carlos, I think you broke the record for the most thumb downs ever. Are people thumbing you down because they disagree that this site isn't the place to link up? Or maybe people here just don't like Kik? So confusing. I will anxiously wait to see how many thumb downs I get on this post.

We're on the way (42,564)
by Ryan from the Philippines

So happy to know and see the promotions have started to roll prior for the May 6th release. I hope the team won't let any dead air to come in between to sustain the buzz about the new album, no more delaying, wiser single choices, better videos, better image (Mariah please darken your hair, it'll make you look younger), genuine performance and speaking of it, I hope we get to see her sing back to back on different TV shows once the new/official single drops. It's undisputed that this era is so crucial for MC like if the song doesn't get to atleast top 10, the people will call her flop, so I just wish everyone's gonna work their a**es out including her. And yes, I like "Supernatural", they better name the album after it. No confirmation from the queen though, so I'll just stay perched for the mean time.

Supernatural as album title (42,563)
by Eternal from Italy
| |
|
|
It has a nice ring to it. I like thinking of Supernatural as two separate words - "super" because Mariah's juggling roles of mother, wife, and work as a singer; and "natural" because she's doing what she does best - music. It's simple yet effective and it conveys so much meaning. And the song itself features dem babies, so it would make sense if she chose this as the album title too, because this journey she has been through in the last few years mainly involved Roc and Roe. I'm really psyched about May 6, I'll reserve any comment about her new music until the album drops. At this point, that's all I'm concerned about - that there won't be any more supernatural, natural or unnatural delays to the album release.

I love Mariah's music. I haven't been the least bored with it at all. And yes, the performance she did with Micheal Buble with live instruments, musicians, Mike himself, and Mariah even adlibbing through was fantastic. The problem is that whenever MC is amazing and on point the media pretends like it didn't happen unless they can work a lipsync angle. Her 4th of July special as well. And when it comes to live shows, MC doesn't have any say in dubbing. The producers of the network/show control it. That's something frequently done on tv today and its not just her. However, when producers screw up or there's a "lipsync" scandal, it's pretty easy to find the actual truth. Look for the uploads from fans that were live at the event. Their prissy little camera phones don't lie, nor do they having dubbing or auto tune accessories. I can say with perfect confidence there is something wrong with the technicians these days. Because, there's no reason 80% of the time Mariah sounds eargasmic on a dinky camera phone and off key or out of sync on tv.

Shock value vs talent (42,561)
by Manny from U.S.

|
|
Thanks you Robert-Anthony for that positive pep talk. It reminded me of why we fell in love with Mariah. That voice. The voice which can go from low, husky tones to angelic piercing tones. The other day I was watching when Mariah sang "America the beautiful" at the NBA finals. I hadn't seen it in a while. I got "goosebumps" all over. I'm going to take this post to another direction. I am a 35 year old man. I have seen how the music industry has changed. These days the more you shock the more you sell. About the comparison of Mariah and Beyonce. I am a fan of Beyonce. But Mariah has kept personal and artistic integrity. When Mariah said she hadn't listened to "Drunk in Love", I thought it was a shade at Beyonce. But I realized the hidden sexual meanings in " Drunk in Love". It was not a shade. I think Mariah, being the prude that she is, would not want to even listen to it. Yes, Mariah dresses sexy and shows all these angles of her breasts, but she still has a more innocent persona. To me, Beyonce wanted to use the shock value to sell more records. She is in the same league as Lady Gaga (who gets vomited on) and Miley Cyrus ( who wears jumpsuits with marijuana prints). I admire and applaud Mariah for keeping her integrity as a person and as an artist.

What Robert Anthony said is basically every lamb's dream. But it likely is not going to happen. Here is why: the Frozen soundtrack has been out for awhile, and it's still on top. I doubt that her album will throw an album that's been atop the Hot Billboard for 14 or so weeks. Also, you also stated that a single will be propelled to number one, but thing is Happy is still really popular. I have no idea how this whole album will be released whether it be like a normal album or "super" album. Either way, I believe it will be Mimi's last singing album and she will retire. I mean, from what I have heard, this album is a combination of all her other albums. There's no doubting that. If Mariah does everything right, this album should be a hit.
