Why has she not promoted You're Mine? (42,299) by PeterB from UK
There has been virtually no promotion. If she is really chasing that hit, how can she expect to have one with little promotion?

What's going on? (42,298) by Marissa from USA
I'm confused about why so many people don't have faith that the album will be released May 6. Is the album officially delayed again or are people just scared?

Re: RJJ12, friend-managers, ego, and album release (42,297) by jaker20 from US
I know we're just speculating, for cause of delay. But to me MC is definitely chasing that hit single. It's understandable because it's difficult enough to promote an album that only have a top 10 hit (Memoirs), and even that didn't really do that well. I don't believe the album is not finished. She released Memoirs 1 1/2 years after E=MC2 and in this period she got married, tried to start a family and prepared and shot Precious. It's definitely just the ego preventing the release of an album without a major hit. Personally I think she should have released the album last year when Beautiful peaked. Between Beautiful, Triumphant and Almost Home/The Art of Letting Go, that is 3 or 4 songs, with You're Mine being 5th. Then maybe more people would be interested on each songs as opposed them going to waste and forgotten. Now here she is again: i.e. will she release the album if You're Mine is a hit? IMO she should release the album regardless of hit single or not. It's tough to accept for her especially, but huge album sales is over. It's all about singles now. So her belaboring a "perfect album" until she gets a hit is impractical creatively and commercially. Finally about hiring friends as managers. E=MC2 was not Benny's fault. Her career nose-dived after getting married when she's in the heat of promoting an album that took 3 years to make. These tells me Benny is not even in control at all. But that's all we know. We don't know the behind the scenes. This post is long now.

Meeting Mariah (42,295) by RadChad from United States
Special K, I literally busted out laughing when reading your post about meeting Mariah. I totally visualized that whole scenario playing out in my head, sounds like classic Mariah to me. Haha. Awesome story btw. Honestly, I'm not sure how I would react when meeting Mariah. I could see myself either being as cool as cucumber or having one of those in awe moments where I can't speak at all (would hate that btw). At any event, it's been ultimate lifetime dream to meet this women for decades now. I'm looking forward to it becoming a reality soon enough.

Charts (42,294) by Angelo from Italy
Hello everybody, I'm new on this beautiful community, huge fan since early 1999. I really appreciate the fact that "You're mine" moving on many charts, and I think remixes were great choices. I really hope that the single can climb the Hot Dance Club, great chart for many Mimi's singles. But I really don't understand her behaviour, with an entire month to promote just the single, why she doesn't perform the single? She really believed that a single performance in playback with a doll dress could allow to climb the charts? I really don't understand her anymore.

Special K / Mariah in the flesh (42,293) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Special K, that's a cute story, and sounds like a really special memory. I have met Mariah twice, and seen her in concert a few times. I think she looks beautiful on tv, but I think it still doesn't do her justice. To me, she's unbelievably beautiful in the flesh. Her skin is flawless and so dexterous. Her boobs are heaving, and very noticeable lol. She's not fat at all, and is very charming. I find it difficult to put into words how stunning in found her if I'm being honest.

Who do you think Mariah is working with? (42,292) by Mikey from USA
So it seems like Mariah has been in this secluded tropical studio working hard for awhile now. Who do you think she is working with? She hasn't dropped any hints and I don't think JD is there. Unless she is just putting finishing touches on songs. But if she is creating new songs I'm wondering with who? Walter A? Probably not but a guy can dream.

RJJ12 (42,291) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
What I've said is in no way a hypothesis, it's merely just an opinion. I have no real experience of the inner workings of a record company. You make done good points though, and clearly if that's what Mariah said, it can't just be dismissed per se. However, you hit the nail on the head when you referred to Mariah's ego. Do you think it's possible that she may be bending the truth to save her ego? It's not exactly a good look for Mariah's record company to not want to release her album due to lack of confidence in her selling power, so it wouldn't be unexpected for Mariah to massage the truth so as to appeal to her ego. I'm not saying this is true, but in my honest opinion, I think it's more likely.

Re: MC in person / Special K (42,290) by Billy from Greece
"When I shook her hand she held onto mine real tight." Same here. There was a mess going on around her (cameras, screaming people) during the "Forever" photoshoot in 2009 in Westefield London, and I didn't know whether there was any point in talking to her when other five people were talking to her simultaneously. I eventually spoke to her very briefly, sharing something quite personal. She immediately turned to me, grabbed my hand and looked at me in the eye. I'll never forget that, especially the feeling of holding my hand tightly.

Funny Mariah pop-ups (42,288) by Will from England
Well, this weeks certainly has been good to me on two occasions regarding Mariah. Firstly, during a lecture about how artists use science to convey messages and ideas, my lecturer decided to use E=MC2 as an example. I can tell you honestly, I have never been that excited in my whole life. I didn't even realise at first what was going on until my friends turned to look at me (because they know I'm crazy ) to get my reaction. And the second was, I finally saw the remix video for YME on a chart TV show. I have no idea what show it was, all I know is, is that in my very little corner of Wales, her video was playing in a pub and that made me very, very happy indeed. And you know what? I loved the video even more. At no point did I feel embarrassed that it was playing or think "Oh God, put them away Mariah." I just sat there, and enjoyed the video for what it was.

That is a great story about your encounter with MC, thank you for sharing. Lol, if Mariah had asked for my copy of her album I wouldn't have been able to refuse her haha.

Mariah stories (42,286) by Manny from U.S.
Please more stories on meeting Mariah. I'm enjoying the stories much. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting her. I know of three lambs that did. One of my friends met her during Rainbow era at Virgin records (in store signing). He said what other people mentioned here. That TV does not do justice to her. That her skin is flawless and her speaking voice was distinctive. My other two friends met her backstage in San Diego (Charmbracelet tour). They said she was tall; she smelled delicious (like body spray) and was wearing a lot of make up. One friend said she looked like a human Barbie because she's so beautiful. Wow, I can't believe I remembered what they said. I mentally took notes. Am I obsessed or what? I hope I met her "someday", I liked her since VOL.

Editing comments? (42,285) by Spir Ja from USA
That was whack, my comment got warped, words deleted. Free speech or freely reinterpreted? Again. Mariah is an icon and she can do what when and how she wants to. I would just like to see her move in all new directions, people, instrumentation and vibe/subject matter. Go team.

Acapella / single (42,284) by Marquise from USA
Hey lambs, check out this great acapella version of "You're Mine", it is flawsome. PS. Glad to see You're Mine climbing up the charts slowly without any promo. Either Mariah will eventually promote the song when May gets closer or release a new single to promote the album with. I hope she sticks with You're Mine and promote it, I really love this song, it is so beautiful and catchy. It would be a shame to see yet another song of hers not reach its full potential like #Beautiful. Lets hope for the best and make sure we support Mariah so she can snatch some wigs dahlings.

Album release / Stephen-Edward / managers (42,283) by 123 from USA
Stephen/Edward, I don't agree with your hypothesis. Mariah said on an interview that "people" kept telling her to drop the album and let it do what it does. By "people", I believe she is referring to the label and management. She said she didn't want to do that because it didn't feel complete etc. I believe the reason why it haven't come out yet is because of one thing, ego. Mariah wants a hit, point, blank, period. She wants to be on top and is used to having a song or two charting well before she releases it. Everyone is claiming she shouldn't have friends as managers but JD has done a good job, and no one can make her do what she doesn't want to do. Everyone wants her to phone Benny, but does anyone remember E=MC2? As soon as the album dropped, she disappeared. He was her manager then. Chris Lightly couldn't get her to promote Obsessed or Memoirs, because she decided to promote Precious for Lee and because she felt she had potential Oscar buzz in film which she has always wanted to be successful in. I guess she felt she could flop a few records and always come back she has already made one of the biggest comebacks in history. I just want her to not release anything else until the album is done. I may be alone on this one, but I still want her to promote You're Mine once she is done with the album.

You're Mine ( Eternal) (42,281) by Special K from USA
Glad to see You're Mine making moves on the charts. Like I said, slow burner. I hope Mariah performs the song soon on tv. I would hate to see this song not reach its full potential on the charts.

MC in the flesh (42,280) by Special K from USA
I have had the privledge of meeting Mariah in the flesh once and attended a few concerts. One thing for sure, tv does not due Mariah justice. That chick is beautiful. Her skin is flawless, and those deeps dark bambie brown eyes will make you melt. She always looks smaller in person than on tv. I met Mariah during the Rainbow era at some record store. When I shook her hand she held onto mine real tight. Someone said her hands were clamy. I agree with that. Anyways, I asked Mariah to sign my Mariah Carey album. Yes album on vinyl. Mariah looked at it and said, "Oh I don't have this on vinyl. Can I have yours?" I was like, "Oh hell no." Mariah straight busted out laughing and gave me a big hug. That was a hella cool moment I will always cherish.

Mimi's still got it (42,279) by PeterB from UK
Hi everyone. I've been a reader on this forum for a long time but now I'm finally posting. I am disappointed that the album has been pushed back yet again. However, I know that Mimi still has mega star quality. Her impromptu performance of "Fly like a bird/the art of letting go" showcases her vocal strengths. I transferred the mp3 of this to my iPod and I listen to it nearly everyday. I love the rawness of this performance as it is totally stripped back and highlights her strong vocals. For all the doubters who say that she can't cut it live anymore, just listen to this performance. Hopefully the new album will see the light of day sometime this year.

Hey gals/guys. I hope everyone is well. This is just for fun. Wouldn't it be nice if Mariah did 4 alternate album covers and let the fans pic which one to set as her upcoming album cover? I think that would be fun.
