Paul (41,740) by Isaac Ortiz from USA
Okay, I'm gonna need you to not be so hard and mean towards Mariah and her music. Referencing her songs as "garbage". Really, that's just wrong. And no, not all of us fans feel the same way you do. Otherwise, I wouldn't be responding to you. I did agree with you about the song "You're mine". But I never put down the song, or stated that it sucks. Also, the singles Mariah has released have been great, or least good. "Triumphant" was good and "Beautiful" and "The art of letting go" are both great. How can you judge or give an opinion on the new album if it hasn't been released? Even if the album isn't good (which I know it will be), I'll still going to not only download it but purchase it as well. 10 bucks at Target out of my wallet is nothing to me. It's Mariah Carey's man. She's the only legendary music artist I like. Other than JT. The album will be good, if not great.

She can do it again (41,737) by Me. I am Carly from USA
Nobody can convince me that anybody can hold Mariah down. The last time I started to buy into that it was a big mistake. The only real difference between this new album and future Mariah albums is Mariah's team/image and her state of mind after becoming a mother and wife. Mariah's performances (when I saw them live) were also up and down with prerecording in the Emancipation era and she had plenty of young competition. But with a marked goal to show up she made the Emancipation era, she pulled in Benny and Leon talley and the big boys and girls of entertainment.

Sexy hot mama (41,736) by Joseph Pelle from san jose, california
Damn Mariah was smoking at the BET Honors. She's sexy and she knows it. That video playing in the background looked pretty cool too. I wish I could see the entire thing. Bay Area representing we love you Mariah.

Words of encouragement for our MC (41,734) by Brad from USA
Hi lambs. This may be the time for us to harken back to words our MC once chanted to us (if only from the B-side of an import), in order to repeat them back to our MC: "Don't give up, don't never ever give up, don't ever give up." If I could fly to Australia and sing that live to you, MC, I would. Just like you did. And then you packaged it with the beauty of "Underneath the Stars" and brought delight to a "little boy" far, far away who desperately needed it. We believe in you and await the higher perch, for you and us all. With love, be well.

Carly, other talented singers (41,733) by Musti from UK
I agree Mariah used to be much more humble. It's understandable that she has to paint a certain image of herself in the media to keep up the buzz i.e. crazy sexy diva. But she sounds like she feels threatened by other talented singers, especially females. She had an awkward moment with Michael Buble before they sang AIWFCIY. She loves Beyonce, but she hasn't heard Drunk In Love. Plus she could've said something much better about Ariana. Ariana might sound a lot like her (probably because she has to so that she could make a decent debut), but no one can deny the girl is talented. I would love to see Mariah and Celine unite forces on a duet to honour Whitney. That would be a landmark move in both their careers, hands down. But it seems Mariah only likes to collaborate with male singers/rappers. Perhaps Nicki Minaj is to blame? Still, it shouldn't be hard for Mariah to give compliments when they are due.

BET beauty (41,732) by Geronimo from USA
I am a bit of a purist and I always want to hear Mariah's voice loud and clear without layers of backing vocals and what not in live performances. Nevertheless, after watching the other performers at the BET awards show it is clear to me what makes Mariah so legendary: her voice has a beautiful one-of-a-kind texture and she knows how to use it in the great songs she writes and produces. Even though I don't love the faux-sexy-Marilyn Monroe/Diana Ross stage act that she clearly loves and has grown into, I think her performance was simple, confident and beautiful and live. Obviously, we heard vocals and instruments that were not live on stage. But Mariah was all there and we should be proud.

MC and Nicki (41,731) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Appreciate talent? What talent does Nicki have that Mariah will need to perform with her and/or chat with her just for image? If Mariah needs any change, it's only to appear less "untouchable" which she is already doing with the recent interviews. We can't expect her to now become totally un-diva-ish beceause a) that is almost impossible for MC, b) it would make her boring and not let her sense of humor shine through. This industry is so unpredictable, it's hard to pin down a formula to achieve success, at least nowadays. But I do think that Mariah can gain more younger audiences if she duets with people who are current favorites. Like Gaga (although her last album didn't do great) or Katy Perry, but most importantly Beyonce. Nicki has got nothing to offer to Mariah.

VH1 Story Tellers (41,730) by Joseph Pelle from san jose, california
I would love Mariah to sing her entire catalogue live and tell the story behind each song and who it's about. I know it's my fantasy and will never happen. Lol to sing her entire song catalogue would be a bit much, but maybe on the new album that would be a cool idea. No Doubt has done story tellers a couple times and I like how they talk about the meaning of the song. I would love more live performances by Mariah. I don't mind the lip syncing but I don't understand why she does it when she gets practically crucified by the critics when she does. Also she should perform on the Academy Awards this week. I can't wait for a new Mariah number that just blows everyone out of the water and shuts all the haters up. Also what ever happened to her line of lingerie she was interested in doing? She should definitely make sexy lingerie and shoes. Mariah will always be #1 in my heart, no matter what she does. I love you Mimi.

"A hair cut would scream confident" (41,729) by Joyce from USA
I really agree totally and it seems 6 out of 8 agree too. I'm no longer responding to the mean spirited commenters. Not going to add fuel to their fire. There is no need to speak to anyone that way, if you would not do so in person. I'm just going to quietly reiterate to myself, that not everyone here is my age and has the same degree of sensibility and compassion when corresponding with others. Though if I saw my daughter leave comments like that, I’d immediately change the wifi password for the next week and have her explain to me why she decided it was ok to be so mean to someone she does not know. And as for my final thoughts on Mariah. The magic is in that voice. If she can re-build it, they will come. No matter what she is or is not wearing, to mater if she is thick or thin, bring back that voice to full capacity and success will also comeback. Well wishes Mariah. If you are reading this, we all at times bicker over what we imagine will get you where you want to be, but what ever you do we will always support you.

BET performance (41,728) by G.G. from USA
I liked it. I think that it was live-ish. It didn't sound exactly like the single, which tells me she did another recording or she sang partially live. I think that it looked real. I don't mind a performer lip syncing as long as it looks real. I wish she would move on stage like she used to. You could see the emotion when she would move around more.

Mariah don't be more petty than Tom (41,725) by Me. I am Carly from USA
I seriously think the number one thing Mariah needs is an image overhaul. I think JD adds a great element but bring in some teeth. The first thing I would do (not because M was wrong but for image) is have Mariah and Nikki perform together (at a Mariah show) or at the very least be seen chatting, it would be huge for Mariah to take the high road and show she isn't catty. I would even have Mariah say listen I may not like certain artists personally but I can always appreciate talent. I think Mariah has been painting herself in a corner due to (warranted mind you) ego.

Blake (41,724) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
No hate or anything, and you are entitled to your opinion, but I would rather have Mariah actually move and do something on stage instead of standing with a mic and just singing like a robot. She's an average dancer (I mean it's not like she can't move at all, that's unfair to claim because she had some cute moves in Honey, Heartbreaker and ILT), and usually if someone just stands and sings, it kinda bores people. I loved the piano concept and even though that dress was risky as hell I think she managed to look classy instead of tacky. I would honestly have a "moving Mariah" than a "stationary Mariah" (does that make sense? well I am a lamb and I like making up words like MC so bear with me). And since for YM(E) you can't really dance, or do much else on stage, I think the concept was great. And attention worthy. The dress was fine in my opinion, not the most flattering, but it was perfect for the whole concept as a whole.

Thoughts (41,723) by clueey23 from USA
I loved the BET Honors performance. I don't actually think she was lip syncing and if she was, who cares, I'm over it. I wish the song would get picked up on radio. But on the stations where it should be played here Beyonce is taking all the airtime. Lol. Seriously, like 5 songs in rotation and that's including the JayZ "Part ll". So at this particular point I'm just looking forward to the album. I'm not gonna knock MC because she has done so far everything that I've wanted. Next would be to make the rounds on tv shows and sing the song live. I agree that she could've done some amazing ad libs on BET. I was actually thinking about the lack of adlibs on the studio versions. If there is one thing about the record that I don't like, is the lack of adlibs.

Expected a very happy album (41,722) by Me. I am Carly from USA
It seems a bit presumptions to speak about the album before it has even come out, but one thing that I was expecting I guess was a happier tone, I imagined that having her babies and hubby and all that would be such a stellar happy situation for her. I understand that marriage is hard and being a mom is hard and I suppose this is why we will get many different angles and the journey she speaks of.

Reboot of You're Mine video (41,721) by Me. I am Carly from USA
I totally agree that Mariah should do a reboot which I messages to JD haha. But I would love to see them use straight shots of the background as filler because the break away shots during the BET show are not great, And ofcourse close with the glitter falling. I love the background stuff because she is moving quite a lot and being swirled around. Also no one can deny that dress it was her biggest statement lately and she is beyond words in it.

BET Honors (41,720) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
All I can say is wow. Mariah looked great. She had the whole Jessica Rabbit thing going on. And I loved how she held the mic like Elvis and it was different than her usual mic (although hey I love MC's signature stone studded mics). The way she moved around the piano so gracefully without freaking out and getting a weird expression was amazing. A true diva. Shows that MC may not be able to dance but she can put on a hell of a show. I loved the videos playing in the back and as I have written in posts before the music video release, I thought it was going to be the music video (especially for the remix because trey songz was in the pictures with her when she was shooting for it). When I saw the little mermaid theme, I thought the remix video will have a flashback moment of her and Trey dancing at a ball or whatever to keep in line with most Disney themes. She looked so gorgeous both on stage and on the screens. It was spectacular. She changed her vocals a little which is good, but yes she could have done some major ad-libs. But I won't even complain, the day I can sing and maneuver on top of a piano with a dress like that, I will come back and judge the legendary Mariah Carey (and I don't see that happening in the near future).

BET Honors performance (41,719) by Special K from USA
Actually, the performance was good. Would have been off the meter if she sang 100% live and adlibbed more. Yo, and who exactly was Mariah honoring? Herself? While I was watching the performance I couldn't help but think how beautiful Mariah is. I mean she ain't got nothing on me but she beautiful.

I agree with ObscureOpulence, which is why I don't like YME (41,718) by Paul from Usa
Mariah writes some of the most beautiful melodic melodies and lyrics. She truly has a voice of an angel in my opinion. When I hear her sing, it's like a lullaby that calms a baby, I get so relaxed, excited, I feel happy. I love to sing along, hit the high notes, even though I'm a horrible singer. Haha. I rag on Mariah because I know, and you know she has the capability to do so much better. Seems lately a lot of her songs have this weird writing pattern, where the lyrics are bland, the song isn't so enticing, and the songs are short. A little over 3 mins. I absolutely, completely dislike You're Mine (Eternal). It sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me. I don't hear any passion in her voice or the lyrics. Mariah has a special recipe for song writing and that voice. Oh my goodness that voice. She hasn't lost it, she's just not using it so much. Look at all these recent live Christmas performances, she was belting out those Christmas carols. As a fan, I expect more from her, a fan of over 20 years, who's supported her alot. I've purchased most of her cd singles and all her albums, but recently, these last 5 singles I haven't. If I do not enjoy the music I refuse to spend my hard earned cash on what I feel is garbage. If this album is doesn't sound to good I will not buy it, I think a a lot of fans feel the same way. Step up to the plate Mariah.

BET Honors (41,716) by Blake from USA
I am sorry but her performance was mostly lipped and let's face it, her laying on the piano in that dress that appears to be 4 sizes too small for her was awkward by itself. [censored] With the single out of the top 1000 on iTunes, how can she pull off a hit? I'm worried about MC and if this album will ever be released. When she needed more time to add 3 new songs, I was praying for a last minute L.A. Reid moment that happened with TEOM but her behavior tells another story besides he isn't behind this release, he's at a different label. As a huge lamb, I just wished Mariah would stand there and look classy (cleavage control) and sing "live", work the camera and come off humble. I miss those days. I am requesting the song everyday at radio but image can destroy an artist. I know this post will get thumbs down galore but I felt the need to express my concern for the legendary MC.

Last chance (41,714) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
Oh yes, I still remember that song by Allure. That song was written and produced by Mariah. I do believe somehow that song was written for Derek Jeter. Maybe one day Mariah could do her version of that song, and Where Are You Christmas.
