Mara / shadiness / diva behavior (41,270)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Mara, I completely agree with you. Ariana has said the best things about Mariah, but Mariah, instead of being like a mentor, was shady towards her on that interview. That made me sad, since Ariana is less than half her age, and sweet. Ariana has publicly said that Mariah's range is bigger than hers, and that surpassing her 18 #1's record would be impossible, and that's why I like her. I wish Mariah had said something nice to a girl that look up to her, and that could be her daughter. I don't listen to Beyoncé, and even I know about "Drunk In Love", yet she says she doesn't know the song. She was splashing in the morning before having breakfast, so cute. Not. These interviews have been about everything but her music. The diva attitude is also getting over the top, it is not cute anymore, she's like she's turned into a caricature of herself. I thought 25 times before posting these thoughts, but oh well. Now you can all crucify me, but I stand by my opinion. Mariah, answer the damn questions and stop talking about Nicki, lighting, nannies, and splashes.

Fed up with Lambs bashing Mariah 24/7 (41,269)
by Marquise from USA

I love the song and the video, good job Mimi. I will always support you. The song is very cute and catchy with lovely vocals, especially those notes at the end. Congrats to her on getting +100,000 downloads in one day. Also I know everyone is entitled to there own opinion aka freedom of speech, but if you're a real fan, you would criticize Mimi in a negative way. Why try to bring negativity to the song if you're a fan. Seems like every thing she does doesn't please you guys. Triumphant fans complained they didn't like the rappers and Mariah being like a featured artist with a dated beat, then with Beautiful fans complained that she wasn't on the song enough and that the song was boring lacking strong vocals (but yet it went platinum and peaked at #15), now some "fans" are saying that You're Mine (Eternal) is a WBT/TMB rip off with bad lyrics and mediocre vocals. She's staying true to who she is but doesn't please some "fans". I guess people want her to make dance music like Lady Gaga or Kesha etc. Just be happy and support her and keep the negativity to yourself. We need to support her like we have done for decades through good and bad, not drag her everytime. People act like they live with her and had been told by Mariah that she is an alchoholic. Just stop it. So after that being said and download both versions, watch the video, gift the song, share it to the world and last but not least request it to your local radio stations. Go Mariah.

Hoping for the best (41,268)

I like the new song, it’s cute. I like the remix better (never thought I’d say that about anything featuring Trey Songz). The video is as expected, glamour shots and kinda boring, but it I’m not even mad at it. My only complaint is MC during her interviews. When did this rambling thing start, and when will it end? It’s kind of a turn off too see a veteran/legend/etc so incoherent and just ramble on and on about absolutely nothing. And has she been lip-synching so long that she actually forgot how to speak into a mic during interviews? I always begin watching an MC interview with enthusiasm and excitement, but leave it rolling my eyes or shaking my head. I fear that’s the feeling most people get watching her interviews, and unfortunately, that kills any desire to want to hear her music. I hate that her persona, or at least the public’s perception of it, is killing her career, because I truly want to see her win. I wish her the best for this single and the coming album. On another note, idk how much MC paid for those breasts, but she needs to go back and pay that doctor again, because the twins (dem boobies, not dem babies) were sitting at the BET Honors.

Mariah's behaviour (41,267)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
All I want is for Mariah to just give a serious interview about the new single/album/music instead of all this ridiculous "splash" drinking, Nicki Minaj (and Nick)-bashing and going on tangents. Don't get me wrong, I love me some diva Mariah, and she throws shade like no other, but it's nice to have a balance. The scales have tipped too far in one direction for my liking. When I think about some of the insightful interviews she gave about her music in the Butterfly era it makes me want to weep.

Everytime I play the song and start the piano intro, I feel like if I'm being introducing to a heavenly place or something. Really, it's a magical sound that follows and connected to Mariah's voice. I get lost in a heavenly sound. Now you can call me corny.

You're mine dance remixes (41,265)

I can't wait to hear the new remixes of her latest single. I really hope it is like EDM or that at least she hires Jump Smokers to remix them. Speaking of Jump Smokers, have you heard the remix album of Memoirs remixed by Jump Smokers? It was leaked in 2010. There is even a remix of Angels Cry with Pitbull. And don't even get me started on the Languishing remix. It is off the charts.

Doctors in the house? (41,263)
by Lyric from USA

Now, I have been critical of Mariah's career as you all know. But I definitely think diagnosing her mental state is a bit tacky. It happens occasionally on this forum but I really see it elsewhere, people claiming Mariah is nearing another breakdown, is an alcoholic, etc. Unless you are a shrink, is it really fair to try and label someone in that way, especially based on seeing 5 minutes of their lives? Mariah isn't perfect, she rambles, has her diva moments and so forth. But to decide based on that that she's mentally ill is just jumping the gun. Things are going really well right now, she's promoting and the song is great. We hardly need to worry because surely Mariah has people who love her around who'd help if there really was a serious issue.

Hi. I think that the opinion of the lambs are really the only opinions there are. Nobody that I know talks about how Mariah has a drinking problem or that she is weird in interviews. Those that loves someone are typically the harshest critics of them. We all want someone that we admire so much to be perfect. The truth is there are many individual versions of perfect and one can not meet everyone's. My opinion is that You're Mine is a great single. It may not chart high (I think it will) but it does not matter. I enjoy the song the remix is its own thing and I don't think it's as good as her solo but not bad. I bought them both like I do with all Mariah singles. They always grow on me anyway even if I don't like them at first. I can always appreciate the vocals because her tone and range are just amazing. Enjoy the new era.

Worried lambs (41,261)
by Anonymous from

So after reading most of your comments, I can say that we are worried lambs about Mariah's behavior. I feel that she needs some kind of guidance. Not someone who tells her "do this", "don´t do this", but someone who tells her "this is good", "you can do it in this way". But you know, it seems that all her close people only say yes and that's the worst thing for a famous person. A lot of people don't like Mariah's behavior because she is not real in her interviews, she tries too hard, you only need to go to YouTube and read some comments. And btw, I think Mariah and Nick are already separated. In the lastest interviews you can easily feel it in her comments. I'm not worried so much in the charts, I'm just worried about her as a person and I really hope that she can find a moment with herself and realize that she needs to find her essence and that it's not funny anymore acting or jocking about the diva thing. It's a lamb thing.

Bubble for some splash? (41,260)
by Blake from USA
| |

|
Honestly Mariah lives in her own bubble. She ignores all the bad press on her boob popping dresses, wears almost nothing to interviews and so on. I love her and always will, but she has seriously damaged her career. It starts from her diva antics that get worse by the day. She definitely has a drinking problem and watching her interviewed is like watching paint dry. If you watch the MTV segment and see the fans behind her accepting her behavior, it's still sad to see their faces as she goes on and on over nothing to do with the music questions. The bad lighting, how the radio isn't playing the full ending that she purposely made short and sweet etc. I bought both versions and hope it charts but I kind of have to leave it there. Mariah has damaged her reputation so much in the last decade, her days of topping the charts could be done in my opinion. No disrespect; lambily for life.

Drinking (41,259)
by You Want This from United States

|
I love Mariah so much, musically and personally. Recently, however, I've become really concerned for her. She's doing interviews and she's being funny as usual, but she seems detached from reality. I've felt for sometime that it may be possible Mariah has a drinking problem. I feel as if she constantly has a glass in her hand and is mumbling something about "splashes". I really want to see her emerge as the butterfly she truly is, but she has got to get herself together. She's ruining her image and it kinda feels like 2001 all over again.

Mariah's interviews (41,258)
by Gilbert from USA

I've always loved her but my oh my she just rambles. I don't recall her doing that in the past. I had to force myself to watch the whole MTV special because I was curious to know what she has plans, but this woman cannot answer simple questions then would be jumping between stories. I adore her, I really do, but you think someone would bring it to her attention. If I was a friend and someone who worked for her and cared, I'd ask if everything is okay.

Honey, Drunk In Love did have a storyline. Beyonce was being a drunk in love lol. Her and Jay were drinking and have fun being in love aka drunk in love lol. She let loose and did dance and have fun. That video (I'm not a fan of the song) but you got to admit the graphics and video is sexy for B. We don't expect Mariah to dance. The problem is her videos are all the same for a long time now. They all show how beautiful she is, usually her sitting/standing in one way, shot on the one side. Look at My All, that video was sexy and was part "vanity", but it still is a hot video. IBLYLT, HateU, Beautiful, YM(E) is MC's version of trapped in the closet. Lol.

I'm gonna get thumbed down again, but Mariah is becoming predictable. The whole working with a R&B male/rapper is getting tired and old. Mariah needs to think outside the box. Duet with a female artist. Someone like Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Toni Braxton, someone. Why can't she? The video was not great. #Beautiful was even better. Mariah went from making decent videos to looking like an amateur in front of a camera.

Charts (41,255)
by Darryle from USA

You're Mine (Eternal) has fallen to 21 on the iTunes chart. I think that Mariah needs to do a live performance of it like today or else it will continue to fall. I know some people say Arian doesn't care about charts, why should we? Well I think charts are important because if this were Mariah's last album, who wouldn't want it to go out with a big bang?

We all know a great video can be important for a song these days with YouTube streams counting towards its success. In addition to great music (which I believe she has on this album), she needs the right videos and radio on her side and I'm sure she could easily top the charts again.

Bad press (41,253)
by Mara from United States

I was so excited for yesterday and was up listening to the radio interviews and online watching reactions all day. I have to say I don't know why Mariah seems to be taking the diva attitude to a complete new level. It's almost like we never get to see her "real" anymore. Like someone mentioned before, it is hard for a true Lamb to watch, imagine a non fan. The splashes since the early am is getting uncomfortable to watch. I don't know any other artists out the diva or not that does that. Also I noticed whenever any other female artist gets brought up, Mariah gets defensive or acts strangly. Why? Mariah you have the longevity you brought up when Ariana Grande's name came up. Why not just smile and say "it's flattering or humbling". Her making comments like that make her look insecure. I noticed more than one article today about the "shade" she threw at the Ariana grande comment. The way she is acting is causing nothing good. Her headlines are more about her alchohol, how she is so "loopy", her unstable marriage to Nick, how she fires nannies and how she shows up dressed to her radio interviews. I love Mariah and always will, but I just wish she would tone it down once in a while so we get another side to her. Again, please understand I feel I can say this by being such a longtime fan. No disrespect at all.

"Throwing Nick under the bus" (41,252)
by RadChad from United States
| |
|
|
The thing we all have to remember that Mariah is married to a comedian. Just as Nick feels he has license to joke about their private life, Mariah as his wife also has liscence to joke and say the things she does in response. I seriously doubt Nick is bothered by or take to heart the way Mariah talks about him in interviews. I'm sure it's just the nature of their relationship, it works for them, and Nick actually likes it/finds it hilarious. On another note, I actually still enjoy her crazy interviews, yes she should work on answering questions more straight on without a bunch of unnecessary detail, but she's still engaging and entertaining to watch nonetheless. I still love how festive she is and thought it was cute/hilarious when she spoke about how Roc and Roe sings "I can't seem to..." back to her. That has to be awesome for your youngsters to find you new song naturally catchy.

Now that MC has confirmed that the title of the album is no longer TAOLG, I really hope she leaves Triumphant, #Beautiful and The Art Of Letting Go off the album. I hope the 3 new songs she's talked about replace those 3 we've already heard. Regarding the video, I love Mariah, God knows I do, but she needs to step up her game when it comes to videos. We get it Mariah, you're pretty, enough glamour shot/magazine spread videos. Do something. Dance, run, walk, something. Stop sitting and or laying there looking pretty. Someone else already said this. I think it would be awesome if in one of her videos she would transform into a butterfly.

So much to discuss: Mariah's media frenzy (41,250)
by RadChad from United States
| |
|
|
I'll start with the video. I thought it was beautifully and very tastefully shot. As a future director and visionary, I agree with Mariah herself, I would've gotten more beautiful shots of the rainforest. I also would've also had MC work the forest a bit more, dramatically strut down a trail, possibly sit in a tree (with over the top precaution ofcourse) the list goes on. I also agree with the person that stated the butterfly wings should've been larger, and I would've like to have seen her take off (I know dangerous, but with extreme caution). That's just me though. I really hope to work with Mariah ASAP, I would definitely take her natural essence and extended it to another level. I do hope the remix video has more of a storyline. I was hoping she would do videos that all connect together in a storyline this era (like ILT and WBT). At this point we're all aware that having a great video could do wonders for video nowadays with YouTube.

Drunk in love and no dancing. Remember to forget you and no dancing, what now? No dancing? Sometimes videos can be visual. You guys are seriously satisfied with nothing. Videos don't have to have major storylines. Mariah's talents exceeds a lot of other artists out there. I think in her interviews she is hilarious and always makes me laugh. She's very real and plays the diva card as a laugh. Divas are outlandish and jovial. She plays it perfectly and she seems like a chick I'd like to have a splash with. Don't be so serious. She's also a human being and has a Mariah personality. Mariah has longevity and her stats are actually amazing. A living legend.

Recent interviews / what's going on Mimi? (41,248)
by Jamie from UK

As much as I like the new single, I have to agree with all these observations of Mariah's behaviour lately. Her diva-ness has increased to the point where her "humour" is coming across more arrogant than playful. It's like a self fulfilling prophecy has taken place. She once laughed when people called her a diva, but now she has become one no doubt. And it's possible that all that alcohol is taking its toll on her coherence; she doesn't seem to be able to have a straightforward conversation anymore without rambling. It's making her uncomfortable to listen to. I love Mariah to death, but I'm a little worried about her.

I forced my hubby (who is only vaguely aware of current Mariah) to watch the new video and he was annoyed because we had to turn off "Scandal". He said to me after viewing "I just don't get it, she looks sexy, but why is she holding her breasts the whole time? And who is that guy in the video?" Of course after that he couldn't stop humming "I can't seem to get you off my mind". Haha.
