She looks so Glitter-ish lately. Nostalgic. And Mariah, drop the album ASAP. Lol.

Almost Home drops out of top 100 after just a few days (37,280)
by jaker20 from US

You guys do not believe me she is working with old people who know nothing about how to market and buzz on today's music. The video should already be released now. Why wait until the movie that is more than 2 weeks away from now? By then the song has already maybe dropped to no. 500 on iTunes. This is very stupid, sorry. Look at Rihanna's release pattern and all the current hot artists. Mariah is mismanaged, this is the fact. And you guys defend this? Some of you here are talking about marketing wait-and-see strategy as if it's 1992. It's now 2013, that formula does not work anymore. You should want only and nothing but the very best to work with Mariah, not Randy Jackson or all those so-called managers from the 90s who have no clue. Why do you think all her sons lately are flopping? It is because of these reasons. This is a great great song, but the only way to make it a success is to have the right people. Anyway, watch as the song drops further down. You don't even know how much the song is used in the movie and how well the movie will do. That's kind of hope-for-the-best marketing, not aggressive marketing that treat the song can stand on its own.

Almost Home current chart standings (37,279)
by Andrew Lo from Philippines
| |
|
|
I don't seem to hear or feel any sign of the song's chart standings. Can any one of you post the current standings? Will it appear on any of Billboard charts, Hot 100 too premature, maybe on other charts, Pop Songs? Radio Songs? AC? R&B? How about on the radio? Have you been hearing it? I guess it lacks promotions, do you agree? Come on, you don't expect people to know about it unless you promote it. Has Mimi been promoting the song perhaps or she will wait until March 8 to release the video and then promote it? She may be Mariah, but still people need to know she has a song out. Right? How about other countries, how is the song faring? Please let us know. We can only pray and hope for the best, but should we not be downloading too? We should buy it if its amazing, and I am never gonna deny the fact that this song is amazing. Who knows, Stronger by Kelly Clarkson will even win a Grammy haha. That song was a hit for me, but it is not even close to Almost Home. I really would appreciate if I hear some news about its standings currently.

Almost Home (37,278)

Maybe its only me, but I am addicted to the song. I can't see it over the music channels here, because there aint no music video, so I have to be content with the downloaded song itself. But seriously, I think whatever others may say about how dumbing the lyrics are because they seem to be shallow, but for me, the entire song, its production, its vibe, its feel especially when you view it with all the Oz's clips, it gives me the chills. It's amazing, because queen Mimi co-wrote it, co-produced it. It may not be a Mariah classic, but do we really need to keep praying for a Mariah classic every song she comes out with? Come on. No artist is able to do dat. This is an amazing song and you can really really feel it is radio friendly and the video clip I saw from GMA was just hair-raising. I adore her and respect her and she has been my idol since I was 12 and I am freaking 27 right at this very moment. I have high respect for her and I am just keeping it real, loving her songs, not liking some of them, but that's how it should be. This song is being played on my phone and PC for the longest time allowable in a day. Lol. I am feeling it. I am feeling it. I am feeling it. Loving it, loving it. It is amazing. It has a Rihanna vibe? The beats may be, but the voice? No way. Do you agree with me? This song is a feel-good pop song you can hear from your radio over and over again.

Marihanna (37,277)
by Zachary from Croatia

Being Mariah's fan since 1991, I get to know her voice and ability to recognize it when I hear it on the radio while there is a bunch of noise or similar situations. When I heard Almost Home, I didn't think that Rihanna is singing or anything similar and I don't get how some of the people heard exactly that. I heard a fresh new beat and style which combines old Mariah with a touch of new. Maybe I am crazy, but this is an awesome work.

Almost home (37,276)

You guys keep saying Almost Home sounds amazing, then say her voice sounds like Rhianna. Hmm. Do I have to say anymore? When you start comparing Mariah to Rhianna, there is something wrong. Like I said, the best part of the song is the lyrics and the hook.

I love this song. The beat is really very R&B and I love the whispered backing vocals. The vocal runs after the bridge are crazy good. It has a Prisoner/Triumphant vibe. This song will be very big.

Almost home etc (37,274)
by Jay from USA

I am loving Almost Home. It is great. I haven't been able to stop listening to it since it came out. Also loving the clips we've seen from the video, I can't wait for it to come out. On another note, I've been watching AI since this season started. It’s the only time I've actually seen it from the beginning and it’s only because of MC. I'm actually watching the east coast broadcast right now. I think she is doing better than she was when the season first started. Although, sometimes I still cringe when she repeats things that Randy is saying. The shows in Vegas have been better for her (I know it’s only been two shows so far). And am I the only one cringing every time Nicki opens her mouth or makes faces? I don't mean to bring the negativity, but I really don't like her and it’s not because of the whole Mariah/Nicki feud (which was overplayed in my opinion). IDK, just my opinion.

Almost Home clarification (37,271)
by Gilbert from USA
| |
|
|
I just want to clarify a small thing, because I definitely didn't think Mariah sounded like Rihanna in the song. I know, I made a post that commented on others thinking that. I didn't compare her to anyone, my main reaction was "who is this singing?" Lol that was all. I would not compare the two, because they are on two different levels.

Almost Home chart success (37,270)
by Scott from USA
| |
|
|
"Listen" sung by Beyonce for the Soundtrack album Dreamgirls did not perform fantastic on the charts however like Mariah's new song it was amazing vocally and critically acclaimed. And Beyonce is one of the biggest pop stars of this decade. If this doesn't perform well, I don't think it has anything to do with Mariah being passed her prime are unable to have another hit. It might just be cause this song (like "Listen") is a soundtrack song and has a different feel to what is current/mainstream on the pop charts. A good song doesn't necessarily perform well, just like a bad song can sell well (of course what's good and bad is all opinion based with no right or wrong answer). If it doesn't fair well on the charts, it doesn't mean it's a failure, people are just too hard on Mariah. Anyway, we will see what happens.

Edward/buying multiple copies (37,269)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
I am not criticizing you, because it is your business what you do with your money. I've never understood buying multiple copies of MC music unless it's to have in the car and in the house. In the case of mp3s, that's not feasible. Over the years, I've always wished fans wouldn't buy multiple copies because I want Mariah's #1s to be public induced so they would become timeless songs in mainstream culture. A fan induced #1 is instantly forgotten or not even experienced by most people. An example of this is "Thank God I Found You" when MC was at her peak with fans. No one who is not an MC fan knows that song. It is when you have many timeless hits that people in the mainstream respect you, you get tributes and put on every greatest of all time list. Mariah gets no respect in the industry. At least not the amount she deserves. Kelly Rowland singing a tribute? How many tributes did Whitney get before she even died? Finally, remember when there was a DJ backlash against playing MC songs because fans were calling in so much? Mariah makes great music. Let the general public make her #1.

Almost Home (37,268)
by Chase from USA
| |
|
|
I think "Almost Home" is alright. I agree with posters who stated it sounds like Rihanna, as that is what I thought as soon as the first verse kicked in. However, I think this is a modern spin on classic Mariah, as was "We Belong Together". Also, you know it's certainly not Rihanna when you hear the impressive vocals at the end. It was so refreshing to hear Mariah on a track that isn't overflowing with hip-hop elements and dull whispers. Am I thrilled? Not overall, because I still believe she has a lot more to give, and I prefer her without as much auto-tune. I hope she's holding back and putting that effort into her upcoming album. As far as chart success goes, I think it is too early for me to contribute much to that discussion. I believe if Mariah has her first big hit in years, whether this is it or not, it will start out slow and build over weeks or even months. The general public hasn't been craving Mariah's music for a while, so she's going to have to slowly infiltrate radio like a new artist.

Almost Home, it's just too bad (37,267)
by Gilbert from USA
| |
|
|
Hi everyone, happy Thursday. Here are my two cents. It's just too bad that there are certain people who are calling the song a flop. It's still fresh and I think of it this way. The music video isn't out yet, the movie isn't out yet. Let some time pass and we will see how magical this might be. All sorts of people will probably go see this film. I know I am, and those who grew up with the Wizard of Oz are most likely to see it as well. I think it will be a hit, it just takes time. Once that music video come out and the movie, I really believe the sales will bump up. That was all from me.

Almost Home airplay (37,266)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I think it is too soon to call "Almost Home" a flop. I'm stating this because we know that for people to know about the song they have to hear it or know about it, and airplay is a very important key factor when it comes to singles’ sales. If radio doesn't embrace the single, it won't do well, so let's hope for the best, it's only been two days. The single dropped down to 81, but now it's holding steady at 65, so it seems to be people are getting aware of it slowly. I'm sad because it seems to be that a huge part of Mariah’s fans have left her camp. I remember those days when even though one of her singles wasn't doing well airplay wise, the single would do well sales wise, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore with Mariah. Lady Gaga suggested her fans to give a listen to Tamar Braxton's new single, and the single went No. 1 on iTunes, even when it didn't do anything chart wise. I know Lady Gaga is at her prime, and Mariah's past hers, but it seems to be that her remaining fans can't make not even a slight impact on her single sales anymore. I purchased the song twice already, but oh well.

How is the song/single a flop? It has been well received and has already in just 2 days charted higher than Triumphant. In my opinion, it's her best lead single since Heartbreaker. It's a better song/single than Touch My Body, her last number one hit. And her voice is amazing.

Jeez, the single isn't even out two days and you're already calling it a flop? Wow, you're the abasador of positivity, aren't you? All the reviews that I've read indicate that a lot if people live the song, along with the general public opinion loving the song. Lets wait for he promotion wheel start along with the video be release before calling it a flop.

A great song destined to fail (37,263)
by jaker20 from US
| |
|
|
Because they are not promoting it properly. It's already fallen to 81 on iTunes after peaking to a lowly 49 in one day. Mariah is working with a lot of old people who don't know anything about promoting a song in this age. No video release and by the time the movie is released, this song is long forgotten. Just bad release pattern. This is tragic, because this is a great song and probably one of her last songs that have a chance for success. From the massive Triumphant embarrassment, she can't afford another flop, but if she sticks with the same people to work with, this song will have the same destiny.

I just can't get enough of this beautiful anthem "Almost Home". I'm so proud of MC, she's definitely the greatest living legend in the music industry right now. She got the most amazing singing skill and fantastic song writing skill. Her musical career will last forever, until she herself decides to retire. Go queen Mariah.

So I'm a did hard lamb, but I despise AI, so I stopped watching it after a few episodes. I clicked over tonight after reading on her that Mariah was being timid etc. I thought she did fabulous. Her and Randy are the only ones up there who know what they're talking about. It supposed to be a singing competition, so lets kick all the judges off, because Mimi is queen. Lol btw I'm so grateful for Almost Home. It's pure pop, but you can hear Mariah's influences in the writing, both lyrics and melody. She truly can do anything. I'm just glad it's a real song, unike you know what haha.

Pop gold as far as I'm concerned. That chorus is just so catchy, and the vocals are out of this world. Return of the voice for sure. The general consensus on this board is that it's great, so let's not all stress if it doesn't fair so well on the charts. As long as her biggest fans are all pleased, that should be enough. Although I have a feeling this will be a hit. I'm personally more excited about this song than when We Belong Together first hit the airwaves. Go Mariah.

I can't stop listening to this masterpiece. The vocals are on point and sung in full voice reminiscent of her Daydream voice. I also noticed that she sounds like Rihanna in some parts but I guess that can't be a bad thing as she's the biggest pop star in the world atm. Fingers crossed the song makes it at least to the top 10 on the hot 100, it deserves it.
