New Mariah (36,641) by George Golden from UK
Mariah please, it's time to up your game. Rhianna is trying her best to beat your record. It's time to go back to the drawing board. Piano, ballads, uptempo records, no rappers please, full voiced tracks, innovative videos. "I am very sexy" videos are so dated. Your voice is the best. Please, do a complete turnaround Mariah.

Lol, dem babies are so damn adorable. Look at those legs. I hope they share a pic of dem babies standing up in their costumes. Or better yet, a video of them enjoying the day.

Edward, I second that (36,638) by M from USA
Well said and if only MC would read your post. Sing, write, drop the diva attitude. Cut the hair too. Stop laying down in your videos. Its done, its cooked. Tired of JD's imprint on every song of MC's. We know you produced it. Get over yourself. Get 'em, get 'em, it's like that, shake it off.

Placing blame (36,637) by Licia from USA
Nick cannon is in Mariah's career because she wants him to be a part of it. With all that she went through with TM, I doubt he's making her do anything that she doesn't want to. Everybody wants to point fingers and place blame when stuff doesn't go a certain way, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. At the end of the day Mariah has the final say so on what goes on. Love Nick or hate him, she wanted him to help. Also there's no way to know whether or not E=MC2 would have done any better with different single choices. Just because we as fans like a song, that doesn't mean the general public will like it. Now and days she has to please the general public as well if she wants to get those number ones you all keep chasing.

E=MC2 wasn't, and it won't be! What would you tell Mariah? (36,636) by Edward from USA
With all respect, some fans are becoming repetitive when it comes what E=MC2 should've been but wasn't. I think the album did what it was going to do, that's it. Yes, we were disappointed, but that's mostly because we were still riding on the EOM high. I just think Mariah has to find her muse again, for some reason her heart is more into the diva attitude than the music itself. If you were a good non-bs friend of Mariah's, what 10 things would you honestly tell her about her music? Here are mine:
1. Videos are becoming cheap and repetitive.
2. We know you're Sandra Dee, we got it.
3. Drop the diva attitude, being a little modest is better.
4. We know you're a singer, writer and producer, so sing, write and produce, you don't have to regurgitate it to us, it makes you look desperate.
5. I want to hear you sing, whisper is ok as an ornament.
6. Not to overproduce doesn't mean to underproduce.
7. R&B's almost out, you won't save it, use it, don't abuse it.
8. Trust your writing abilities, you've produced some of the greatest songs out there, you don't need a writing posse.
9. Don't let JD ruin your songs by voicing "Y'all know what this is" all over them. We're your fans, not his.
10. Never be a guest on your own song again, you did it before on "If We" and it clearly didn't work.

CDC (36,635) by Lee from USA
So, Mimi should have stayed single, childless and miserable until 2012, right? She shouldn't have to hit #1 all of the time to please us or any pundits. There have been artists that went decades without a hit and no pundits screamed about them yet. I personally like Nick Cannon because he's loyal to her, unlike Derek Jeter who dumped her as soon as he got on a hitting slump. People may bitch about his videos, but I liked them over anything that Hype Williams did for her lately. And last time I checked, Nick didn't choose the singles. I think all the griping about his videos is really about Mimi marrying Nick in the first place.

Recycling (36,634) by RibbonB from USA
Well, if she's using her dresses wisely, I dont mind. But these recycled E=MC2 theories are laughable. Lol. Bottom line, people who wanted to buy E=MC2 bought it. The record had excellent promotion and did its thing in an era of declining music sales, especially for R&B based music. It also garnered Mariah her 18th number one. Despite Adele or Taylor Swifts's sales in this deep recession, ladies of R&B have been hard hit, even major divas who had massive first week sales for example, Mariah in 2008 with her biggest opener, Sade in early 2010 with a huge opener after a ten year layoff and Whitney somewhere in the middle. All three of these ladies are legends and had great openers but with massive drop offs and minimal radio airplay. And people love to blame good old Nick, but neither Sade or Whitney got married, let alone to young Nick. Lol. Some people just continue to attach their bias to NC, to sales of that record. But in all honesty, the record did what it did and if any fans didn't buy it because of her new husband, then they arent fans of MC. I wonder if people who continue to perpetuate that vibe actually bought E=MC2 or if they just troll around to keep recycling negativity.

E=MC2 (36,633) by CDC from CA
I absolutely agree with the complete mismanagement of E=MC2. There were at least two or three more potential top 5 hits in that album. In fact, I firmly believe that she could have at least tied the Beatles' record if she played her cards right. It was her most commercial friendly album since Daydream. "Bye Bye" should never have been a single. With the rise of Lady GaGa, Rihanna and Flo Rida, the musical climate of the industry was already leaning towards a second disco invasion. Sentimental ballads died virtually a decade prior to '08. Personally, "Migrate" and "I'll Be Loving You Long Time" should have been succeeding singles; since the album's early preview days, critics were already noting these two as surefire hits. If I remember correctly, E=MC2 received even better reviews than its predecessor, and awards pundits were predicting it to be a major Grammy contender against Coldplay and Lil Wayne.
Such a disappointment, that year was. After she wed Nick Cannon (and thus began to welcome him into her career activities) everything seemed to go downhill - not only for E=MC2, but also for the rest of her career. That is all that I will say of that matter.

Re: Will from England (36,632) by CDC from CA
I've too noticed that she's been wearing the same clothes lately. She's said before that she's not as high maintenance as many make her out to be, so maybe as she gets older she doesn't see any benefit of being a clothes horse. Remember years ago when it was reported that designers became increasingly reluctant to loan her clothes because she kept chopping off the hemline? Maybe this apparent blacklist is still effective... or maybe she's been inspired by your very own Duchess of Cambridge. Whatever the case may be, she definitely will be wearing new outfits come her tenure as a judge on American Idol, especially during the live shows. Even though Mariah replaced Jennifer's seat with a throne, Jennifer is still known, if not for anything else, for wearing pretty clothes.

Mariah has been recycling (36,631) by Will from England
I like how she recycled some dresses for her mini concert in Macau. There's the gold number from Morocco, and the black dress from her recent American Idol promo picture. In fact, come to think of it, since Memoirs, she has been recycling dresses and re-using them for different looks. The Golden Globes dress for the AA tour anyone and Egypt show? The princess gown for her Formula 1 performance, which harks back to the Daydream tour? The whole black look with leather coat on the Today show, again a re-visit to the Daydream tour? I wonder why she's decided to do this now

Merry Christmas II You / hurricane (36,630) by Chase from USA
The cool Fall weather is here, and that means I'm slowly beginning to play some of my favorite Christmas tunes. I won't be fully immersed in holiday music until mid-December, but I do want to express how much I appreciate Mariah's 2010 Christmas sequel. I am so grateful she covered more classics, like "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and "The First Noel", two songs I used to wish were on the 1994 release. I also really love the quality of her voice on this album. This is all the proof that I need that she is still capable of incredible things when she has the right material. She sounds airy and delicate yet also powerful and confident. It gives me a very warm feeling. The "Born is the King" interlude is so smooth and moving. "Charlie Brown Christmas" is beautifully sentimental, and "When Christmas Comes" and "Christmas Time is in the Air Again" are testaments to Mariah's extraordinary skill and versatility as a writer and singer. "O Come All Ye Faithful" is like this album's "O Holy Night". It's a knockout. This Christmas sequel may not be as essential as its predecessor, but it compliments it perfectly. On a side note, my thoughts and prayers go to anyone on the East Coast. I hope everyone is safe and well. It sounds like Mariah's native Long Island is getting tossed around quite a bit.

Triumphant (36,629) by clueey23 from USA
I don't think Triumphant should be on the album simply because I feel it was more of a promo instead of a lead single. And also the album isn't coming until the spring. But I also feel like it's a strong song that didn't get the proper promotion or video treatment. Triumphant could've been a monster.

Edward / Eyitemi Judith (36,628) by Stella from Greece
Edward, I also thought about Triumphant and whether it is going to be on the album or not. I think it shouldn't be on the album, it would be a waste in my opinion because not only is it Mariah's worst lead single but her worst song period in my opinion. It's good that the album isn't coming until next spring, because it gives people the chance to forget about the Triumphant fiasco. So to include it in the new album would be a bad idea.
Eyitemi Judith, welcome lamb.

That song should be her 19 #1. The lyrics itself contains her number 1 hits.

E=MC2 (36,626) by Ryan from the Philippines
Until today, I still thought this album has alot to offer. It's a fun album, and one of her best IMO to date. It's like the first time you listen to it, and you'll get hooked up. It's one of her records that I don't skip, unlike Memoirs (sorry). But unfortunately, the promotion was not maintained which eventually caused its failure on the succeeding singles being released, the performances, or whatever the reasons were. I just thought if Migrate was followed up immediately after TMB, she may have enjoyed the most #1 hits today. Who knows if I Stay In Love, Side Effects, Cruise Control and Last Kiss followed next in line, the whole album may have enjoyed the same success or more than what its predecessor did. I hope they're not going to make the same mistakes again and again. Just a thought. Sigh.

Should Mariah include Triumphant in the new album? (36,625) by Edward from USA
I think she shouldn't include Triumphant in the new album. It would definitely be a reminder of the bitter taste it left in most of her fans and the general public. At this point she has recorded according to her about 100 songs, and she's still recording. I hope that the songs she and Walter worked on bring back the Mariah we've been waiting for.

More mature? (36,623) by Will from England
Her 18th #1 was "Touch My Body" which I love, but can hardly be called mature. Her next lead single was "Obsessed" which again I love, but it brought her back to primary school. "Oh Santa" took her back to high school with the cheer leading. And she released "Triumphant", which compared to her previous lead singles, is probably the most mature sounding lead single she has released post TEOM. Unlike the other lead singles, this one has meaning, has heart and has the ability to reach and touch someone, and maybe change that person's life. Mariah is not stupid, she hasn't survived 22 chart-topping years in the business by being stupid, so I say that before we lose hope (I really can't see what justification people have to lose any hope) for the new album, wait for it to be released before we judge it.

AIWFCIY (36,622) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
I love how at this time of year, there's always a few covers of this song ready to be released. Just heard Cee-Lo Green's version on iTunes, last year it was Buble, or Lady Antebellum. Go you good thing.

Chart position (36,621) by Ryan from the Philippines
It's hard for Mariah to hit the top spot lately because the management as a whole isn't working as hard as some people did in TEOM and early of E=MC2. Also, if Mariah have to double her effort vocally and bring back the moving performances like she did in TEOM, another #1 hit is not too far. BTW, it's also hard to penetrate charts nowadays since the common trend of tracks being on top spot are songs that do not have the depth, sense. Even if you have the worst voice in the world, you can have number 1.

Overemphasis on charts and sales (36,620) by Chase from USA
The other day, I saw that Mariah had a new image on her Facebook (I know she doesn't design the page): A collage of all of her number one singles. It was quite impressive to look at, and I felt proud of her massive accomplishment. However, I think many of us Mariah fans have become overly concerned with charts and sales. I didn't know what a number one was or which Mariah songs went to number one until she released that album in 1998. Ever since, I've had to know the new single's chart position, the new album's weekly sales, etc. Sometimes, this is really a detriment to the music. Charmbracelet is a beautiful album, despite its lower sales and lack of hits. It's a personal favorite now, but after TEOM came out in 2005 and far exceeded Charmbracelet's successes, I basically stopped listening to CB and my opinion of it temporarily declined. If it didn't add to her impressive report card of number ones, I decided it wasn't good enough. I think Mariah might be trying too hard to have a hit since E=MC2. It's like she's been behind the times ever since, recording material she thinks will chart and not including much variety or taking risks. For Memoirs, she collaborated solely with the producers who worked on the only hit from E=MC2, and "Triumphant" sounds like it belongs in 2007, not 2012. Most of all, I don't hear much Mariah in Mariah's music. Maybe she needs to stop thinking about the charts.

What's happening? (36,619) by Chase from USA
Most of us are expressing a desire for Mariah to make a big change, musically and image-wise. Because she is a mother in her forties, one might expect a notable maturation in her style, but we didn't get that with "Triumphant". If she never made a record again or continued to release unimpressive material like "Triumphant", I would still be a fan for life, thanks to her classic material from 1990 to 2005. I feel like Mariah grew progressively from album to album from the debut to Butterfly, and the transitions made sense. After hitting a rough patch, she made an album that blended classic and modern R&B on The Emancipation of Mimi. The album revisited the strong vocals and smooth soul of her early career and also had its finger on the pulse of mid-2000s radio. Everyone got their Mariah fix with that album. Ever since E=MC2, it seems like she's been stuck in a rut, recreating tired R&B that is so safe and polished for radio that it fails to ignite much passion, at least for me. "Triumphant" might be the most dated thing she's released since 1991. What can she do to get back on track? Is she too scared to try something new?

Videos (36,618) by TJ from Norway
I agree with you guys about her videos. They have been reduced to almost nothing. The same pose, the same move. I love "It's like that" and "WBT", "The roof", "Butterfly" and "Breakdown" because they were professional made. Lately it's just "look at me, I am so sexy and I look like I'm 25". Yes, I know Mariah is sexy, but less is more, and I'm not talking about her outfits.
