My Prayer, Workin Hard (Remix), Do You Think Of Me (103,404) by jaker20 from US These are the new ones I haven't heard of that I like the most. I hope this is a taste of more that is hidden in the vault. Funny I was just listening to C&C's first album and I definitely hear that chemistry there in Workin Hard (Remix), the original not so much though. I prefer the remix. My Prayer and Do You Think Of Me sounds like classics to me. Dreamlover definitely needs a new remix and it will be just as big as Fantasy. Because the Def Def club version does not hit as hard. The public needs to be re-introduced to Dreamlover gem in a big way, ala Free Guy remix, or maybe bring in the Pnau to re-interpret the song and I definitely see it being a big hit again. All the songs in Proctor are some of her best live recordings, and I wish they were released at the time, and they would have been as big as the MTV ones. All in all, I really love the 30th anniversary edition. Which makes me excited about what else she's been hiding lol. For me, the newer version of Hero is also love. It hits a bit harder for me. It's a proof that it's not all about the vocals, I think she felt it more in the revival version. And then the a cappella of Music Box, chills. Mariah I love you. MB30 (103,403) by Randy from USA Hey fam. I've been busy since I have a new teaching assignment this year. So I finally listened to the new music. I have to say. I am excited you all are excited. But I don't like My Prayer or Workin Hard. Mariah sounds incredible but what would you expect for '93? I just don't like the songs and understand why they were left on the cutting room floor. Hero 2009 had my attention on the first verse and chorus. She sounds absolutely breathtaking. Pun intended. I didn't like the 2nd verse at all. Ima stick with the Never Too Far/Hero Medley as my definitive version. I am not being a negative Nancy, I was summoned by Robert. And to a lesser extent Edward. It's good to see a flurry of activity on the board. Pun intended. P.S. I wonder what a Right to Dream remix would sound like? I have a DJ friend. Hmmmm. (Saturday 9 September 2023; 22:49)

Music Box - 30th anniversary (103,399) by Billy from Greece I really got choked up listening to the extended version of "Anytime you need a friend". What can I say about "My Prayer"? A true masterclass. The phrasing, the interpretation, the final belt, wow, just wow. I also can't believe "Working Hard" was left out. Actually, with the three main unreleased songs from those sessions, the two b-sides and details like the full version of AYNAF (or the Walter-less version of "Dreamlover") you really get to see Mariah's true vision for that album and what the intervention of Sony (Tommy) felt like. You really get the artistic sacrifices yet still admire Mariah's to straddle both worlds, meaning her artistry as well as the direction for mass appeal. I have a whole new appreciation for Music Box given that for a long time it's been my least played Mariah album, although it is the first album I fell in love with. Lovely commemoration. The way she sings the line "You always smile but in your eyes your sorrow shows" gets me every time. My only complaint about "Without You" is that it was massive internationally but only went to #3 in the United States. It really should have been a moment akin to Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You". The way she sings it eclipses the Harry Nilsson version and the Badfinger original. I don't know why she cut it off and put that short lived whistle at the end on "The Rarities". "My Prayer" was executed beautifully, vocally and emotionally, but I can understand why "Without You" was chosen, it sounds more current even today. As for "Working Hard", I'm still getting used to it, but I like it. Obviously I had to replace "All I Live For" with the extended version on "The Rarities", what a difference. MB30 reaction (103,373) by BFF from United States "My Prayer" brought tears to my eyes when I heard it. Such a gorgeous rendition and somewhat left field for Mariah in terms of covers. More evidence that Mariah needs to put together a "cover songs" compilation album. She's done so many great ones, and it would be nice to have them all in one place. "Workin' Hard" is better than either of the Cole + Cliviles tracks on the original album. I can totally understand why Mariah's message on Twitter says she's looking back with a bit of regret on this album... because "My Prayer," "Workin' Hard", "All I Live For", "Everything Fades Away", and "Do You Think of Me" are all better than songs that made the final track list. I would have left off "Just to Hold You Once Again", "I've Been Thinking About You", and "All I've Ever Wanted" to make room for unreleased songs and b-sides if there was a concern that the album would be too long. I wouldn't be able to leave off tracks 1-7 on the original album - those are all songs I never skip. (Friday 8 September 2023; 14:51)

I wish Mariah had more songs in this 1950 early 1960s Doo Wop sound. I know she's got a lot of songs with inspiration of Doo Wop like ABMB, but My Prayer, Forever and of course Hopeless Devoted to You with Olivia are just spectacular and suite her voice perfectly.
