Re: Sack the stylist (93,125) (93,135) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"Her" style in the short clips [is] also not my taste. The stylist could really do better. Mariah with volumenius hair, classy dress or jeans is just gorgours and beautiful. But I do concentrate of the song. Lol.

I would love to see this interlude incorporated into her live sets.

Re: Everything fades away (93,132) (93,133) by Bobby A from United States
Is MC preparing us for something special later this year with a greatest hits compilation? Maybe The Hits and For The Nostalgia is coming in September. Wal-Mart and Target are doing a lot of exclusive artist vinyl records lately. I can only hope Mariah Carey is going to be re-released on vinyl this year too.

TEOM vs E=MC2 (93,130) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I can appreciate both albums for what they represent. However for me I listen to E=MC2 when I am craving dessert or looking for fun vibes. I listen to TEOM when I need a full course meal or when I am craving a little bit everything all together. All in all it depends on my mood, or certain memories, that is how I determine which of the two albums will satisfy my appetite.

I still play TEOM love a good portion of the album - there are some songs I skip.

Obsessed (93,127) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
On a lighter note, I have fallen in love with another Mariah song. I liked Obsessed when it came out but I didn't love it.

I now love it and I can't stop listening to it. It's a genuinely brilliant song. And it does not sound dated in the slightest. It even sounds like it could be released now. In fact, I would offer that if it were to have been released now it would do much better than it did way back when.

I love EFA so much. One of her best songs ever. Agree the snippets are very enjoyable. Can't stop listening. That song is magical. Jojo was also great.

Sack the stylist (93,125) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Ever eternally hated for my opinions, I have stated I think the way Mariah is styled now (hair, make-up, wardrobe) is really off point. Am I truly the only one that thinks this?

I, personally, would like to see hair with volume, wavy hair, less clown make-up with more natural tones and fashionable clothing - including pants. And definitely I don't want to see her tits anymore. Or ever again. That Everything Fades Away snippet video... if you don't admit all you are focussing on are the girls hanging out, well, I won't believe you.

Re: Evergreens (93,117) (93,124) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Finally, some sense.

Mariah in the 90's in the UK was very successful. Number 1's in the UK are not like in the US. To achieve it in the United States is a feat, based on sales and radio play (right?). In the UK in the 90s, number one records were primarily for BritPop bands which were the in-thing (think Oasis and even Spice Girls) and one hit wonders and gimmick records. That Mariah was top 5/top 10 for most of the 90's is incredible.

During Daydream Mariah was incredibly popular and well thought of (anyone here go to the London Daydream show?). Unfortunately (for her popularity), in 1997, two things happened.

First, she took her clothes off and never really put them back on again. Nobody wanted it from her, nobody respected it. Secondly, the general view was that she was trying to be ghetto (for want of a better word). And in the 90's nobody here was going to get on board with that, musically. So she became a source of derision - which, actually, really upset me for ages, and I spent years defending her, even deluding myself like the delulons on here still, worryingly, do. Add the vanity project of Glitter into the mix and Mariah in the UK was pretty much over.

Until TEOM...

I was more surprised than anybody. The British actually started to like her again. She was a credible artist with style and a good attitude - not the vain, attention-seeking titty-popping, gangsta's moll wannabe everyone thought she was.

Alas, she then met Nick Carter and everything fell apart, once more, and she's been treading water ever since. Still, she can still sell out arenas and I'm glad she has toured the various countries of the UK rather than just doing London. It's in the top 5 of music markets in the world so paying attention to it again is a good idea. I really hope Mariah does not fuck up Brighton.

I really would like the UK to fall in love her, again. Putting the tits away and getting a new stylist would really help.

Re: What career achievement makes you most proud? (93,114) (93,123) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
As per usual on this site, when someone asks people to name the *1* thing of x or y, the muppet brigade brings out lists.

Lists are mostly meaningless and even more so in this case. Mariah's biggest accomplishments are well known and an *exhaustible* list. Almost nobody here needs them llisted. Chances are if someone is on this site they have followed Mariah's career well enough to be able to recite them in chronological and backwards alphabetical order. You completely miss the point of the survey to simply (and nauseatingly) virtue signal about how much the muppet brigade just-love-Mariah-so-much-ohhhhhhhh-they-simply-can't-chooooooose.

If the person who had nominated this topic as a survey of interest had offered that he needs to be educated on simple basics of Mariah's career instead of trying to trying to see if there was a consensus on something purely subjective, you would have been right in there.

Muppet.

Re: Anyone else listen to E=MC2 more than TEOM? (93,115) (93,122) by Aliya from Canada
TEOM all the way. This is when she really began to incorporate R&B. Her voice on this album was breath-taking. In my opinion, her voice is much better here than on E=MC2. I can't imagine I would like her as much as I do without TEOM. From Stay the Night to One and Only. I have yet to here [sic] another album like this. It's a classic. And it's exactly my style of music. This album is really when I became a hardcore lamb.

Some minor corrections.

Endless Love reached #3 and Heartbreaker #5. But yes, she generally did better with other people's material than her own.

Re: Anyone else listen to E=MC2 more than TEOM? (93,108) (93,115) by B from USA
I listen to TEOM more than E=MC2. I listen to TEOM from start to finish without skipping a song (although I don't care for To The Floor). I only listen to Migrate, Touch My Body, Cruise Control, I'm That Chick, Side Effects, I'll Lovin' U Long Time, Thanx 4 Nothin', For The Record, and I Wish You Well on E=MC2. I always skip I Stay In Love, Love Story, Last Kiss, O.O.C., and Bye, Bye.
