I want My All-latin guitar ballad for 2020 (92,936) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I want Mariah to make a new ballad with acoustic guitar latin style ala My All.

Re: Mariah needs to recover her voice and stop touring (92,926) (92,935) by Licia from USA
I refuse to believe she was partying and drinking that hard to cause that much damage in that short amount of time. This is my moment of denial and delusion. I won't believe that. Lol.

Re: We Belong Together (92,927) (92,934) by Bill from the UK
This has been Mariah's issue since 2005. She is forever trying to recreate We Belong Together. But WBT is WBT. It won't ever be matched. It was of its time and was a stroke of genius. The lyrics, the delivery, the vocals, the production, it all came together at that moment. It was a success because she had never done anything like it before, and it was a sincere effort. All the replicas released since are just that. The next WBT, should there be one, will be something completely different and new.

Often imitated, never duplicated.

Re: We Belong Together (92,927) (92,933) by Lighty from China
I think there's no doubt Mariah could create another great ballad like WBT. It's just that a "hit" doesn't depend solely on songwriting. A great video, solid marketing with radio/tv/streaming, etc., good promotion including collaboration with platforms (twitter/tiktok/youtube) are all factors in making a hit.

WBT had that JD and Manuel Seal magic, the same magic team of Always Be My Baby. But magic doesn't always happen. With You is absolutely boring IMO though and not even close.

The trailer for this movie played when hubs and I saw Star Wars. I couldn't help but rock in my chair a bit as the song played. Such a timeless song. Of course it comes from like the best album everrrrr. Daydream.

Re: We Belong Together (92,928) (92,930) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
As phenomenal as We Belong Together is, I think it is not the best idea to recreate past glories especially since "lightning don't strike the same place twice" (which is ironically a Mariah lyric on a WBT clone track). Her signature songs had their moments, and every time she has followed the same formula to achieve the same results (which is ours to assume but the similarities just seem give the purpose away), the results have never really quite reached the highs of the tracks that inspired them. WBT has had so many iterations since 2005, all inferior, that I honestly have lost count.

Mariah's better off experimenting, working with new producers that she hasn't worked with in the past. That's what made Caution so great and impressive. It establishes the fact that Mariah is just as involved in the creative process as much as her collaborators are and that she truly is a co-producer. Having so many cooks in the kitchen, one would expect a scattershot, messy album. But Mariah just has her way of keeping her signature sound intact (even some critics have pointed it out) and her producers introduce just enough nuance to make things a little different yet not too much to stray too far from the public's expectations of a Mariah record.

If Mariah's gonna have another huge hit, it's likely something that isn't a retread of her past triumphs.

Re: We Belong Together (92,927) (92,929) by Will from Australia
Well she kinda did recreate it with Don't Forget About Us, same formula and went No.1. Then kept to that format for I Stay In Love and also Angel's Cry, two songs I believe she thought where massive hits similar to WBT but unfortunately the public had moved on.

Re: We Belong Together (92,927) (92,928) by Aliya from Canada
I agree with you. I think she could make another WBT by working with the right people like JD, LA Reid, etc. I think she could do really well on it vocally as well. And I believe that We Belong Together is timeless. It's written and sung beautifully. I feel like WBT had a better production and more intricate lyrics than With You, but yes, I do think With You is a good song. Honestly, I could see her make a great hit on the radio again. I didn't even expect the song Beautiful to get as much airplay as it did.

We Belong Together (92,927) by Bobby A from United States
I have one question for Lambs to end the day. Why hasn't MC been able to create another WBT with JD or another high profile producer and songwriter? I believe she still has another hit ballad in her that could touch the masses, but she just has not worked really hard to recreate the WBT magic. With You came close, but it just didn't have that LA Reid and Johnta Austin fire.

Think about it. Tommy controlled everything, all aspects of the career, including how she took care of her voice. Obviously we don't know what happened exactly, but the general event I'd point to is the moment Mariah left Tommy. He couldn't control how she treated her voice, what she drank, who she hung around with.

Free Guy movie trailer (92,923) by Brad from USA
Hi I hope everyone is well and being nice to others. I saw the Free Guy movie trailer last evening, starring Ryan Reynolds, and they use Mariah's smash hit, "Fantasy" to good effect in the trailer. It seems this song will be tied to the movie. This may explain their meetup and photos from a few months ago. Anyhow, just figured I would mention it. Be well.

When YouTubers make reaction/review videos on past material from artists who aren't as popular as they used to be such as Mariah, you know they're doing so out of love or at least genuine interest. This type of content typically doesn't pull in a lot of new subscribers. Every budding/established YouTuber who wants to grow their following are usually determined to put out content on the hottest and most recent releases to capitalize on fan interest, so when they do react to older content, especially from less current artists, it is something that's worth appreciating.

I have been watching reaction/review videos for years now and while these mostly naturally focus on the YouTubers themselves than the material they're reacting to / reviewing, this is still a great way of introducing older artists and their material to new, likely younger audiences who wouldn't have seeked them out on their own. So next time you find a content creator you like, request them for Mariah single/album/discography feature via the comments section. Especially when she has new releases. They just might oblige and help get Mariah some new lambs.

"But there was a definite turning point between the last night of the Daydream tour and the promotion for Butterfly in 1997" that's what I think too. Something happened. Don't get me wrong, her voice during Butterfly was still phenomenel, but it seemed harder for her to hit her "special Mariah notes". During the Daydream tour she was singing like it's the easiest thing to do. I'm still overwhelmed when I listen to "Anytime you need a friend" from Tokyo. Out of this world.

Maintenance (92,919) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
We must remember we are not a part of MC's daily life, we only get to see what she presents to world. We have to remember that during the majority of the 90's she lived in the studio, and with more success came more work. Of course we can assume what can be the cause of something regarding MC but we really do not know what is true or false. Some can also suggest maintenance tips but even then it can only work for so long. Whatever trauma MC has suffered throughout the years, the fact that she is still alive and able to still give us something we should be grateful because many of our true superstars are now memories as they have passed away. So instead of ridiculing MC for her flaws, we should be giving her flowers as long as she is here to receive, and smell them because one day she will become a part of memories. Let's appreciate our legends, and their legacies, and stop trying to throw them away every chance we get.

Re: Mariah needs to recover her voice and stop touring (92,917) (92,918) by Bill from the UK
Well, note I said I had "suspicions", but Tokyo is a lot of the studio performances with the semitone lowered. It's pretty noticeable when you look out for it, but then, that concert was overdubbed so it does not truly reflect what happened on stage that night.

As for the European dates, jury is still out. But listen to them on YouTube, and you'll see what I mean. And as for the removal of the smoke and mirrors post-divorce, yes, that has long been a conspiracy theory but then I can't see Sony wanting to sabotage their top act. Regardless of their personal issues, Tommy was there to make money and Mariah was their top earner. You don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

I think it's as per Randy's theory. Something, some event, happened after Daydream. Trauma from the divorce? The post-divorce indulgences? A quick descent into alcoholism? Who knows. But there was a definite turning point between the last night of the Daydream tour and the promotion for Butterfly in 1997.

Wow Bill, just when I thought I've heard it all. Did you just say Mariah lipsynced her way through the Daydream Tour?

Interesting theory, but lipsync, playback or not, like Randy said, you can't deny that something seriously messed up her voice in those few months between her last Daydream performance and her first Butterfly performance. What happened with her tone and agility doesn't just happen overnight especially at that age, without some sort of trauma or health problem.

Unless dare I say (I'm probably going to get burned on the lamb stake for this) Tommy and company took away some of the smoke and mirrors during there split, aka the Butterfly era, and we could see the true inconsistency in her voice.

I think I've been watching to many conspiracy shows lately. Lol.

New Lamb alert (92,916) by Tevin from USA
Yo you all should check out this guy's channel. I just ran across it yesterday. He reviews a lot of rnb and hip hop songs, of course the lambs came out in full force with request. So Jack does a lot of reactions to Mariah songs. He never really listened to her before but every video he makes of her, he gets more and more impressed. I appreciate the video in the link, because lately he has been reviewing Caution and he goes into detail about how amazing the production, mixing, and melodic tone of everything is. It just goes to show Mariah doesn't need an in your face vocal acrobatic album to, dare I say "create a great body of work", that is modern. I love Caution. p.s. B we know how much you love Caution so hopefully you'll like this video.

Vegas (92,915) by Dove from United States
The hot, dry climate in Vegas is really hard on a voice though. How much longer is she contractually obligated to be there? I still would love a recent concert DVD but she needs to go somewhere with better climate for singers, like Jamaica or the Philippines. My favorite VOL performance is the 2015 Jamaican one. She's obviously very relaxed from the second-hand marijuana smoke too.

Our queen still got it, ugh she performed so well. Her energy, the song selections, that voice is amazing. Still a better singer than 99% of this industry.

She does. When Mariah renegotiated her deal with Epic they announced a new joint partnership with Mariah's Butterfly MC Records.
