Re: Pure sales (91,403) (91,409) by TJ from Norway
That's what I'm thinking too. She was selling like crazy in that period. Didn't she?

How the mighty have fallen (91,408) by Terna from Nigeria
Going through the Grammys nominations list, I just felt like I was going through nominations for a much lesser award like Teen Choice Awards. Lol. It doesn't feel serious at all. Where's the quality? The serious artists and the obscure ones who are really good but don't get the platform. And as usual our chanteuse was paid dust, not like she was checking for them anyways. She'll "prolly" go bowling.

Snubbed again (91,407) by Nicole from US
Caution was hailed by critics as return to form. It was well-received by critics, one of her best. And yet, these Grammy people did not give a single nomination. They now decided on who's in and current. What a joke. Please get your 19th number one Mariah. Your legacy will surely live on.

I am shocked at the list of nominations, I don't even know more than half of them.

Grammy nominations (91,405) by Chicago Lamb from USA
Very sad Mariah wasn't recognized this year. Caution is a great album, With You is a beautifully crafted song. I'm a little disappointed but the universe can make up for it with AIWFC #1.

I'll bet all the money in my pocket against all the money in your pocket that the only Grammy nomination she gets is when she has grandchildren and Dem Grandkids nominate her for Grammy of the Year.

Re: Pure sales (91,395) (91,403) by Salmon skin roll from Unagi
That makes sense. So it's done quarterly. Cool. So according to this Mariah only got to 1 million per quarter by the end of 1993. That makes no sense. Am I missing something again?

Pure sales (91,402) by Nikki from usa
Always interesting, but at the end of the day we're not talking sales, we're talking certifications which are paid for by record companies. Literally. The whole reason systems like Soundscan were invented were due to number gouging for the sake of PR. Many earlier artists numbers were over certified. Sony didn't bother with certification for MC outside the US and Japan. Yet, she was announced as a billion dollar seller in all of Asia. Mariah's main influence is in the US which is also where the majority of her promo went.

If anything deserves to be her 19th #1 it's this. It's a classic.

It is moving too fast. This is the first time it's entered top 40 before Thanksgiving. Prepare your streaming devices on December. Maybe we should schedule a streaming party? Does anyone know the peak Christmas tracking week this year?

Lower but 2 weeks earlier than last year based on that article.

2020 hope (91,398) by Will from Australia
If it happens and MC gets her 19th No.1 with AIWFCIY this year, I hope they are planning to capitalize on the news it will generate by promoting a new single from a upcoming 2020 album or drop her book in January or something please. Just don't let the moment pass with the decorations coming down you know.

Less than 24 hours away, let's all keep our fingers crossed for "Caution". I really want to see Album of the Year.

It goes by quarters in a year. The sales fluctuate over time as some sell more and some sell less.

Re: Pure sales (91,387) (91,394) by Norman from USA
Well, apparently I need to visit my optometrist. Smdh. Babs was right in front of me the whole time. And I could've sworn I read it was only US sales that it tracked, but it's definitely worldwide sales. That's a huge difference and the key factor. I'd like to see a US only chart. It's still impressive Mariah stayed in the top 5 and 10 for the 2000s.

Hey Billy. Yes I noticed that too. So agile. Effortless. I assume that's why some argue this was her vocal peak or whatever. I love how playful she was with the kids and audience. She definitely seems herself here and to be having a good time. So glad we have these performances now, I like how natural they are especually in comparison to some of the DVDs.

Am I missing something here? The video makes no sense. Numbers go up and then go down. How can sales go down? Did everyone get refunds?

Usher's Confessions 2 (91,391) by Bobby A from United States
Usher and Ella Mai have a new song Don't Waste My Time produced by JD and BMC. Maybe MC will have a duet track too on Confessions 2. They were in the studio this past summer. Confessions 2 is coming soon.

AIWFIY Hot 100 Chart entry last year (91,390) by Bobby A from United States
Wasn't AIWFIY already on the Hot 100 this time last year? I am really not hearing a lot of Christmas music on the radio right now. One week from Friday is Black Friday.

Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town (Live at St. John The Divine) (91,389) by Billy from Greece
I'm amazed by the fact that one second she speaks regularly and right after she belts the most clear and resonant notes ever. She just glides here vocally, and visually. Just wow, what a legend.

Article: Mariah's rendition of classic Christmas tune still not old (91,388) by Bill from the UK
"The season of giving has turned into the season of Mariah Carey, and it may have gone to her head. Carey re-released the 1994 Christmas album, now called 'Merry Christmas II You'. It includes several new covers, and a couple live tracks. It excludes 'Miss You Most at Christmas Time' and 'Jesus Born on This Day', which were the other two original pieces on the 1994 album."

There is so much wrong with that paragraph I don't know what to do.

Re: Pure sales (91,384) (91,387) by Edward from USA
Barbra is on the list from 1969 to the third quarter of 1977, then she re-emerged on the second quarter of 1979 and she's gone by the first quarter of 1981.

For a moment I thought I would see Mariah at the top like Whitney, Celine, Madonna and Michael, but then I realized that the video is based on worldwide certifications. Mariah wasn't as huge in many places out of US as the other three were. While "We Belong Together" was a monster here in the US, it was a moderate hit some other countries, different from "I Will Always Love You" and "My Heart Will Go On", of course the success of their respective movies played an important part in that.

According to what I have read, Celine's albums in French are very successful and supposedly better than her English albums, and she was also selling those

As for Madonna and Michael Jackson, hate them, love them, call them what ever the f you want, but there's not denying in the fact that they were worldwide musical phenomenons.
