Re: Pure sales (91,381) (91,384) by Norman from USA
Edward, I also found that surprising. At first I thought she would show up with about the same kind of sales trajectory that Whitney and Celine had during the respective signature songs. But when I thought about it, I realized that both Whitney and Celine's songs were also tied to phenomenal box-office successful movies/soundtracks, while Mariah's album was an entirely singular entity. It was still hugely successful in the states, but not as big an event as a tie-in with really successful movies. That said, it's difficult to overlook how Madge dominated sales for quite a while. So much so that she kept going back and forth between number one with MJ.

Maybe Mariah had a bigger impact on radio? It's also good to point out that I don't remember seeing Barbra anywhere on the list, and she has more RIAA certifications than Mimi or Madge. Impressive numbers all around for them all, however.

25th anniversary edition releases (91,383) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Any album turning 25 years old is a milestone, regardless of actual commercial or critical success. I feel like a good reason why we haven't had 25th anniversary edition releases of Mariah's earlier albums pre-Merry Christmas is because of her eternally 12 mantra. I mean even while doing interviews to promote the Merry Christmas's re-release she still drops bits and pieces here and there about how she doesn't like to count the years. This childish aversion to age and aging only gets more ridiculous with each passing year, but hey, at least she's being consistent.

Another factor, I think, is her personal relationship with each of her albums. Merry Christmas, even if she initially wasn't thrilled with the idea of recording it in the first place, is still special to her because it is a Christmas album and it houses her biggest worldwide hit (and possibly biggest royalties earner) ever. Butterfly wasn't exactly re-released, but she showed just how special it is to her by celebrating its 20-year anniversary with a vinyl release on top of the expected social media throwback acknowledgement post (which is all most of her earlier albums got).

I hope her debut album gets the full re-release treatment that Merry Christmas received next year. 30 is a big deal, especially for an album that started everything with a big bang.

Re: My predictions for 30 years in 2020 (91,379) (91,382) by jaker20 from US
I'd like a video for There's Got To Be A Way with the original version, because the video they made was for the remix, which is just an awful super cheap remix. It is one of Mariah's best vocals and the remix was horrific, completely destroyed the song.

Re: Pure sales (91,370) (91,381) by Edward from USA
The video is very interesting to watch especially because it's based on numbers and they don't lie. As for Mariah showing up in 1994, I think it makes sense. Mariah was building up her career up until Music Box catapulted her to stardom, not only musically but commercially. Daydream just cemented her status. I was expecting to see her higher during the period 2005-2006.

Re: Grammys (91,377) (91,380) by Special K from USA
Caution might get some nominations in the R&B categories. If she does, some people will still be in the "kill joy" mood and crap all over it because the R&B catagories don't mean anything to them.

I'm all for the anniversary edition of the debut album, with the demo tape, wherever that may be. The 30th version should be issued alongside The First Vision and full Tattoo Club performance. I know Mariah hates all the videos from the first album but we love them so much, especially Someday.

My predictions for 30 years in 2020 (91,378) by Bobby A from United States
I have this feeling we are in for some huge things to celebrate MC's 30 years as an artist. Here are my predictions:
1. Mariah Carey will be released on 180 gram vinyl commemorative anniversary edition and a remastered CD version with bonus tracks.
2. MC will release another greatest hits collection.
3. Caution's follow-up will be in the works after her Vegas residency dates.
4. Sony Legacy and Def Jam will re-release all of MC's albums on 180 gram vinyl.
5. MC's memoir will be released in the fall.
6. An unexpected male duet will be released. Maybe it will be Usher, Maxwell, or Sam Smith.
7. We will finally see MC collaborate with Ryan Tedder and Ashley Gorley.

I am hoping she receives a couple of nominations too. She deserves it.

TJ, that was interesting, right? I'm thinking radio must've been a big factor in her rise. Bill, that channel is very interesting for that very reason. Glad you enjoyed it.

Glitter vinyl promo copy (91,374) by Bobby A from United States
I have in my hands a Glitter vinyl promo copy with a different order of the tracklisting than the retail vinyl or CD copy. Here is the order of the songs:
Side A and B
1. Loverboy Remix
2. Last A DJ Saved My Saved My Life
3. Didn't Mean To Turn You On
4. Don't Stop Funkin 4 Jamaica
5. If We
6. All My Life
7. Want You
8. Loverboy
Side C and D
9. Lead The Way
10. Reflections
11. Never To Far
12. Twister
It seems like this tracklisting was for DJs at the club. All of the ballads are on side C and D. The sound is out of this word especially Lead The Way.

Yes it's still on there right now. I just meant there's no promise that Netflix will keep something available. Lots of things I have enjoyed (not related to Mariah) have been removed before. That's why I still prefer to buy my own copy if I know the program is something I want to keep. They may very well keep the concert on there, but I've had stuff removed too many times.

Re: Billboard most successful female honor (91,364) (91,372) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
There are some people who say she’s completely lost the ability to be humble but I disagree. I felt it in this article and I love that she took the time to reference songs like Endless Love and The Roof. Well deserved Mariah.

Re: Grammys (91,368) (91,371) by jaker20 from US
I would be so happy if MC gets a nom. It is undoubtedly one of her best albums. Imagine gettting a Grammy now, 29 years after your already iconic career. It will fire her up to serve us more quality albums.

Interesting video. I just thought it's a little strange how late Mariah appeared on that list. Nothing before 1994?

Pure sales (91,369) by Norman from USA
Have you guys seen this video chart of the biggest selling artists through the years (1969-2019)? It's pretty damn interesting. I was shocked by a number of things, but I think I most surprised by Elton John. I mean, I knew he'd sold a ton of albums, but his sustained dominance through the years was really surprising and impressive. There's a lot to dig through here. I figured you guys might also find it interesting.

Grammys (91,368) by Will from Australia
Grammy nominations are announced on Wednesday, do we think Mariah will get any for Caution? I’m hoping in the RnB categories she’ll get something.

Re: Caution's anniversary (91,363) (91,367) by Bill from the UK
Agree, Caution is a great album because it's different and fresh and I like how easy it is to listen to the whole thing end to end, due to the short length. No offence Licia but whenever I fancy listening to CB I have to book a day off work lol. We love everybody.

Hark (91,366) by Will from Australia
That Hark performance is just sublime. Gave me goosebumps and if possible I fell in love with her all over again. She has a real confidence singing that one which is kinda lacking from the other performances. I can't wait to hear the Hero performance assuming she'll release it.

I don't know about that. Her Hallmark concert has been on Netflix continually since it first aired.

Billboard most successful female honor (91,364) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Billboard most successful female honor, this is definitely a great big deal, and as fans and supporters moments like this should make us very proud, because despite the struggles and missteps in between our Mariah remains the benchmark and blueprint for success for the female artists coming up in the industry today and in the future. What makes me even more happy is that she is here to receive this recognition, also a black woman who was criticized from the very beginning of her career is the highest ranking woman and black artist on such a prestigious list. All hail our queen, and congratulations Mariah on a major achievement. Also congratulations to all the fans and supporters who helped make this moment come to be.

Caution's anniversary (91,363) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Happy first birthday to the album that in many ways gave majority of the lambs hope. Not many artists can say that released their most universally acclaimed album almost 3 decades into their career. It fell off the radar quickly, but at least we know it definitely wasn't for a lack of quality.

Biggest female artist of all time by Billboard (91,362) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I don't think anyone's really surprised by this, really. Mariah is still referenced time and time again whenever chart records are set or broken. Congrats to Mariah and all the lambs all around the world.

Billboard top female artist (91,360) by Terna from Nigeria
This is a big deal and it had the haters all in their feelings. Lol. Who cares though? Billboard is all about the statistics and the numbers don't lie period. Mariah's getting her flowers.
