Re: Memoirs by Andy (91,335) (91,359) by Ronnie from California
I understand most concerns about the memoirs being a regurgitation of the things we already know. And there great validity to those concerns. But there is a new generation of fans that need to know what she has been through - so not every sentence will be aimed at us. Because of the type of person Mariah is, I am expecting a mixed bag. Childhood stuff that us crazed, obsessed fans can dwell on, good time stories about collabs that would warm us, etc. She always tries to include us whenever she makes movement because she values our dying breed.

But Mariah is going to repeat the narratives we have heard before. The new generation is going to pull her into the importance of the social climate - not us. We can hardly get passed arguing over single choices, nightmare era, and what performances are lipped. It is rather obvious that the resurrection of her Sony days are relevant to the industry right now. Most of us (not myself) were there to experience it firsthand. But it is relevant now, more than then. The music industry has not yet had its moment (other than Kesha) and I'm sure Sony would love to advert the narrative away from the company and place it on Tommy.

Keep it light, it's Mariah season.

Mariah on being the top female solo artist of all (91,358) by jaker20 from US
On the overall artists list, she is no.4, behind The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Elton John. If AIWFCIY goes to no.1, I am pretty sure she will go to no.2 at the very least. At least. Because, if I'm not mistaken, none of those artists above her have that huge gap between first and last no.1, 29 years in Mimi's case, along with her high peaks. Not saying though that Mariah will not have another hit, in fact, AIWFCIY getting that record could rekindle public awareness as well as her creative juices. So next decade, beating The Beatles will then be in play. What a great time to be a lamb. .

Caution's anniversary (91,357) by Tijl from Belgium
Today marks the first anniversary of Caution, an album that caused ambiguous reactions from the Lambily. Critically acclaimed yet underwhelming on a commercial level it has grown to become a personal favourite. Mostly because it tells the exact story of my last year so it has a very special place in my heart.

What a nice build up for Christmas (91,356) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I love Christmas, especially the build up. Christmas eve can be a bit too much for me, so I really appreciate the weeks before Christmas. But I haven't got in the mood this early in many years, I absolutely love the live performances from St. John the Divine, and "Hark the hearald [sic] angles [sic] sing" is the best so far. It's so nice to hear it isn't dubbed that much either like Fantasy: At Madison Square Garden or Tokyo Dome.

Her voice was just divine in 1994, nobody could sing like that or haven't since. Mariah is really treating us fans well this year.

Re: Hark. The Hearld Angels Sing live video (91,353) (91,355) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I agree 100%. I'd buy the full concert if they made it available on iTunes or something. I get that dvd and Blu Rays don't sell well anymore, but a platform like Netflix changes out the content, once gone, good luck seeing it again. Lol.

Mariah's reach (91,354) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
Watching the news this morning this popped up. Amazing that a legit news network references her like this. Didn't even know don't know her was a thing.

Hark. The Hearld Angels Sing live video (91,353) by enwar00 from usa
Dang. These uploads of the St John the Divine concert get better and better by the day. I'm loving it. I love all MC's new stuff like Caution and MIAMTEC and have evolved alongside, but there is simply no denying how amazing yet effortless her singing was here. It's a nice reminder of the marvel and magic that was, and this has got to be a huge reason why we're still on here almost 30 years deep.

Eleven (91,352) by RibbonB from USA
I'm so glad Roc got to meet his favorite in person. Roe too of course. Roc is so cute fanning out over Millie Bobby Brown. He also mentioned her when Nick had R and R on live cooking pizza. They really are smart kids. It's nice that the kids and their interests allow Mimi to engage more with other artists and personalities like Marshellow.

She did perform a few songs from the album on the Rosie O'Donnell show. This is my absolute favorite one.

Proceed with caution (5): AIWFCIY at #1 (91,347) by Ethan from United States
It is now or never. The lambs must make this song #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, otherwise, this is the only decade since the 90s that Mariah does not have a #1 song. All the 18 #1s are in the 90s (15) and 00s (3). I believe Cher is the only artist to have a #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 4 consecutive decades: 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s (with Believe).

However, if it reaches #1, will the chart be published in January 2020? Then, it will be counted in the next decade. What is the technicality here? Please make my wish come true. All I want for Christmas is seeing AIWFCIY tops the Billboard Hot 100.

Then, Mariah will have another 10 years until 2029 to get at least one more #1 to tie with The Beatles.

Re: More surprises (91,344) (91,346) by Susana from USA
Yes, I agree with "Where are you Christmas". I was really disappointed to not see it included. I know it's probably a sore subject to her, but she should really think of it like she does Glitter now. Maybe she'll wait another 5 years and release her version on a new Christmas album.

"I'm trying to think of what else could Mariah surprise us with that would have me floored. Her own recorded version of 'Where Are You Christmas' would be one thing. An unheard of recording from Merry Christmas would be another but unlikely as surely it would have made the anniversary edition."

I would say that "Around the World" is the "official" live performance since most of the live footage is from the Butterfly tour and #1's came at the tail end of the Butterfly era.

No official live performance during Butterfly era (91,342) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
Since Mariah's first album, every album released must have at least one official live performance/concert for the promotion of the album.

1. Debut album - The First Vision live at Tattoo Club
2. Emotions - MTV Unplugged
3. Music Box - Thanksgiving special
4. Merry Christmas - St John Divine
5. Daydream - Madison Square Garden
6. Butterfly - ?
7. #1's - ISB and WYC Brian Mcknight special
7. Rainbow - Homecoming 1999

I always wonder why there was no official special performance during the release of the album in 1997. Was it because of her divorce or Sony was not happy with the rnb direction of the album therefore lack of support from Sony?

Re: Jesus Born On This Day live video (91,339) (91,340) by Licia from USA
Lol I think my issue is that I'm a person who if a song doesn't hit me on the first listen then I move on and forget about that song. Now since music is so crappy I'm revisiting many songs and artists (not just Mariah) that I ignored or didn't give a chance and I'm finding that I should have maybe listened to the song again or paid attention to that artist. I've missed out a lot of great songs from great artists. For the most part y'all know I loves me some Mimi music.

This particular song has not been a fav of mine. I think I've only listened to it once before now. Seeing the video though has given me a new appreciation for the song. It's a nice song and I agree with everyone else she looked so humble and sweet in the video. She looked like she really enjoyed these performances and I loved her interaction with the kids.

I hate when I don't pay attention to certain songs back when they were originally released and then I burst in 25 years late liking it.

Re: Memoirs by Andy (91,335) (91,337) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I agree Bill. To be honest if I never hear about JLo again it would work for me. I've heard enough of the "I don't know her" meme to last the rest of my life. Having followed her since 1990, not sure that we could hear anything about her marriage to Tommy etc that hasn't already been said. I am more interested in what she could potentially share that hasn't been discussed for decades. Her insight on music, any wisdom she might impart, what she may choose to be vulnerable about. I will be reading what she has to share in the book and don't have any expectations really.

Re: Memoirs by Andy (91,335) (91,336) by Licia from USA
Yes Bill I want all of this with some info on what's going on with the vocals. I definitely don't want the same recycled stories she's told since 1945. I do want to know what happened with Nick though. She talked about the TM divorce alot when they broke up. She's very quiet about Nick. I don't believe she's not saying anything because of their kids either. TM has kids and she didn't care about what they were hearing about their dad.

Re: Memoirs by Andy (91,332) (91,335) by Bill from the UK
See this is exactly what I don't want from the memoirs. The "lost" Rainbow interview and the Genius Level interviews are what makes my ears stand to attention. We know she fell out with Ben, Walter, and Damizza. We know she divorced Tommy and Nick. We know Stella was a nightmare. Who cares? I want all the unknown, unseen, unheard stuff about her as a musician. The stories behind the songs, her musical life before 1990, the technicalities behind her vocal arrangements and artistic choices she made, and her reflection on popularising the melisma singing style and pop/hip hop combination. Spilling tea about J.Lo? I do not care.
