I like what I see so far a genuine, down to earth person who still enjoys her craft and wants to help others live out and achieve their dream. This is the Mariah the world needs to become acquainted with.

She also said she would never embrace EDM and yet she's worked with Nintendo85 and Skrillex.

She did sound good in these clips, but there is definitely vocal deterioration. You can't be upset because people are pointing out a fact. I'm a day one 1990 fan and although I've accepted her changing vocals, I will not act as if there isn't any damage to her voice. You can hear it.

I would absolutely love for Mariah to sit down with Wendy to promote this album. Why not give her the whole hour? They've always been so fun together and the radio interviews were epic. Wendy's said a lot about Mariah, but she's such a fan.
By the way, if anyone knows where I can find a copy of the multi-hour long radio interview they did during Charmbracelet era I'd be forever grateful.

Would an album be a Mariah Carey album without big vocal moments? If the tracklist that leaked is authentic Portrait, For The Moment, and Truthfully are ballads with big vocals. I heard an instrumental of For The Moment and it sounds similiar to Right To Dream which I have a new found affinity for.

I just think that Mariah has abused her voice so much that now it's just a little too late to expect her to quit drinking for two days and regain her voice. The woman is clearly struggling while singing, even when half of her singing is done by her backup singer and pre-recorderd tracks. Her voice could get in decent shape, but it's going to take time and work. At least most fans have gotten used to praising anything she does, lips or not do, I guess unless she sounds like a Coqui, which is a frog from Puerto Rico that can hit beautiful high notes, she would still be selling concerts and having an audience. For the moment, I'll take her word and enjoy the studio artist she's become. She definitely still sounds good on record.

Mariah's problem isn't that she does not take care of her voice. She actually does to some extent, hence the humidifiers and tea and short periods of vocal rest (although having very talkative and inquisitive kids does not make that easy). Her real problem is that she loves her alcohol and late night parties way too much yet thinks that her humidifiers and hot tea and brief rests can offset the ill effects of her bad habits. In Whitney's documentary released earlier this year, even people she's worked have said that Whitney had issues with her voice, although there were rare instances where it sounded really magical and they'd have it for a few hours and then it'd be gone again. The period referred to was from 2000-2004, so around Whitney's late 30s to early 40s. It's possible that Mariah has the same issue. But it's still worth noting that Whitney smoked, drugged and drank her voice to the ground for years. Hers had undergone considerably greater abuse than Mariah's if we were to compare their lifestyles. Mariah at 35 and Whitney at the same age kinda sound on par in terms of capabilities (just compare TEOM and My Love Is Your Love to their respective predecessors and then to each other). Celine is known to be very caring of he voice. Even Barbra said that when Celine was recording Let's Talk About Love, in which Tell Him was a track, she would not speak for prolonged periods just to perserve her voice. I believe such discipline is still with her to this day. And she lips way better than Mariah.

Sadly it is true. Even though here tone is getting a little better (at times), she cant hold notes and needs to keep cutting them short, hence the ey ey eys and uhh uhh uhhs. You can see her try and go for some belts and notes and immdiately cut them short. I hope the problem is reversible or fixable. She has extensive touring planned, I pray it doesn't get worse in time. She was nailing the Emotions intro during the SSF tour and you can see her try and then hold back now which is painful and sad to watch. I can actually understand the lipping at the major award shows and the pre recorded whistles now because try as she may, she very often can not be sure if she can do it. If it were just the drinking that was causing it I'm sure she'd change things up. It is deeper than that. Love and the best for her always.

I guess "Caution" is going to be similar to "E=MC2" not necessarily because of the similar content, but because the album is going to be full of potential singles or play as a greatest hits album. I think "Caution" has accomplished that with the tracks I've heard so far. I like GTFO, love "WY", and enjoy "TD". I think this album is going to be lacking big vocal moments though, but it's Ok, "With You" doesn't have them, and I still love it.

Talking of E=MC2, I was thinking today or my dwindling excitement for Corshugh ugh ugh ugh ugh uhn. And I was thinking of all the previous album releases and my differing levels of excitement. I think I was most excited about Rainbow. It was at that 99 Pop pinnacle moment, I'd heard Mariah showcasing the album in Atlantic 252, Heartbreaker was pop genius and I was feeling the fun from the sombre seriousness of Butterfly. I was a bit disappointed with it. But I was also wet with excitement at E=MC2 and when I got it back to work from a break I thought it was the best thing she had done. I still think that sometimes. I listened to it constantly. Because. It. Was. Fun. Corshugh ugh ugh ugh ugh uhn is going to have to have some stellar tracks in there together repeat plays. It's not exactly, well, fun, so far.

B. 6-10 have got to be fake outs. I can't imagine Mimi going that techno or whatever. [Webmaster: You didn't read the disclaimer: "These are not official songs from the album except 'GTFO', 'With You', 'The Distance', and 'A No No'. This is the tracklist of 'Caution'. We don't know the real music yet so I used the songs I usually use for vlogging."]

Maybe a 10 track Caution album story for November 16th and then when the Caution Tour is in full swing she will re-release Caution part 2 to push the album and tour sales. I just don't see JD's aggressive tracks apart of this 10-track release. Who knows what her team has planned in the coming weeks for the actual 16th release? Maybe a Target Exclusive CD/DVD with extra tracks and Making of Caution DVD or even a Deluxe Version with extra tracks at all retailers. Remember she did tweet last week the sneak peek of the making of The Distance as if more was to come on the 16th. The 10-track release must be telling a story. It begins with GTFO and ends with Truthfully. What we have heard so far is kind of a synopsis of what has happen in MC's life in the last 4 years. The other 6 remaining tracks are going to be very revealing to our ears. I can't wait to hear the Caution story on the 16th on my way to Nashville.

I think the title for track 8 is hilarious. I can't wait to hear all the nonsense. Every album has to have that one song that will make me want to stab out my ears. I think this may be the one unless No No No does it. I'm hoping that the title is just silly and it's a good song though.

Mariah's "breathy voice" that she has always had is not falsetto. It is a "function" in the voice that comes forward in full voice when there's enough strength pressure in the tongue/throat. So any vocal coach that says it is falsetto is wrong.

Edward, the reason why I wrote that is because it takes time, as Mariah herself said songwriting is more than half what she does. Mariah has always been a better vocalist than Celine even on her worst day "Rockefeller" she showed more agility than Celine could ever. Céline nasal tone is not a favorite of mine. And also Mariah used to sleep 14+ hours a day before but dem kids take all of mommy's attention. Mariah Carey is an artist, musician, a producer, a songwriter and a singer. Celine is a good singer. You can't compete, Mariah is a leader while Celine is just a follower and a puppet. Name one single original thing she has done as an artist.

When I saw track 8 I actually said FFS out loud to myself. It's weird that an album is coming out and we've heard 40 per cent of it already. There's only really suspense left in six songs. I agree with the other poster: Caution needs to be a banger and I hope Truthfully is another Languishing type moment. Otherwise, WTP?

Edward, her voice seems to have deteriorated even further in the last twelve months. I am surely not the only one thinking this. Everything is stacatto, nothing seems drawn out. "Still I buhlee eh eh evv'd" on VOL, "Higher... than the heavens... Uh buh uhv" on Eeeh muh ugh ugh ugh oh shuns and so on. There are some good vocal moments on her tour but this shit is not pleasant to listen to. It's actually [censored] weird. I notice Mariah now sings with her neck tense and her jaw jutting out. I think she has more serious problems with than anyone realizes, to be perfectly honest.

I bought tickets for the Dallas concert and just like you, was a legacy member, so I snagged my tickets as soon as presale were available. I ended up getting good seats near the isle on the 7th row. Sadly, the first row seats were not available for HBFly members and that's exactly what I wanted. I tried switching seats, so I called Ticketmaster and they told me that I couldn't. I'm so heartbroken because she isn't having a meet and greet (which is what I reallyyy wanted), so the next best thing was front row tickets for me.
This is my first MC concert. I wasn't able to go to Vegas because of school and I couldn't see her whenever she did tour the US because I was in high school and didn't have a job. I won tickets to see her on Kimmel back in 2015, but my mom was late taking me to the airport... so I have the worst luck ever.
But yes, the same thing happened to me.

Haha, I had the same feeling of dread wash over me when I read track 8's title. Seems interesting, especially Truthfully. I wonder if it will be a gospel closer like she's did for Emancipation, E=MC2 and MIAM. Time will tell. November 16th seems so far away haha.

Caution tour (85,416)
by Mara from United States

So did anyone get tickets to the show? I grabbed The Sands which as of now is the last date (she could always add dates) and I got tickets in second row to the Hard Rock Atlantic City show. I have to say I was a little disappointed in how the HoneyBFly ticket presale was done. I was upped to Legacy status so I was able to try at 10am as opposed to 11 and I was checking and checking and the best I saw even up to the 11am I grabbed because I was afraid it was the best I was going to get. However "after" I bought those, they released front row tickets right side and at that point I had already got what I thought was the best we were going to get. At that point your tickets are non refundable or even available for an upgrade, which was orders from Mariah's people not Ticketmaster or the vendor. Just sad that it was like that. I was just trying to upgrade what I had, not cancel but it wasn't allowed. We managed better seats in AC so it's all good. But it would have been amazing to have front row seats and the cost wasn't that much more sadly than what I paid for an "aisle special seat made available" by the performer and team. I'm just grateful to be seeing her again am doing on a new tour. But I was a little disappointed how the tickets were released.

Now I know it's possible to both love and dread something at the same time because that's exactly how I feel about track 8. The title track better be an upbeat banger or we would instantly hear the collective sigh of fans all around the world. Good Lie seems quite intriguing.
