Re: Caution standard edition tracklist (85,417) (85,420)

When I saw track 8 I actually said FFS out loud to myself. It's weird that an album is coming out and we've heard 40 per cent of it already. There's only really suspense left in six songs. I agree with the other poster: Caution needs to be a banger and I hope Truthfully is another Languishing type moment. Otherwise, WTP?

Edward, her voice seems to have deteriorated even further in the last twelve months. I am surely not the only one thinking this. Everything is stacatto, nothing seems drawn out. "Still I buhlee eh eh evv'd" on VOL, "Higher... than the heavens... Uh buh uhv" on Eeeh muh ugh ugh ugh oh shuns and so on. There are some good vocal moments on her tour but this shit is not pleasant to listen to. It's actually [censored] weird. I notice Mariah now sings with her neck tense and her jaw jutting out. I think she has more serious problems with than anyone realizes, to be perfectly honest.

I bought tickets for the Dallas concert and just like you, was a legacy member, so I snagged my tickets as soon as presale were available. I ended up getting good seats near the isle on the 7th row. Sadly, the first row seats were not available for HBFly members and that's exactly what I wanted. I tried switching seats, so I called Ticketmaster and they told me that I couldn't. I'm so heartbroken because she isn't having a meet and greet (which is what I reallyyy wanted), so the next best thing was front row tickets for me.
This is my first MC concert. I wasn't able to go to Vegas because of school and I couldn't see her whenever she did tour the US because I was in high school and didn't have a job. I won tickets to see her on Kimmel back in 2015, but my mom was late taking me to the airport... so I have the worst luck ever.
But yes, the same thing happened to me.

Haha, I had the same feeling of dread wash over me when I read track 8's title. Seems interesting, especially Truthfully. I wonder if it will be a gospel closer like she's did for Emancipation, E=MC2 and MIAM. Time will tell. November 16th seems so far away haha.

Caution tour (85,416)
by Mara from United States

So did anyone get tickets to the show? I grabbed The Sands which as of now is the last date (she could always add dates) and I got tickets in second row to the Hard Rock Atlantic City show. I have to say I was a little disappointed in how the HoneyBFly ticket presale was done. I was upped to Legacy status so I was able to try at 10am as opposed to 11 and I was checking and checking and the best I saw even up to the 11am I grabbed because I was afraid it was the best I was going to get. However "after" I bought those, they released front row tickets right side and at that point I had already got what I thought was the best we were going to get. At that point your tickets are non refundable or even available for an upgrade, which was orders from Mariah's people not Ticketmaster or the vendor. Just sad that it was like that. I was just trying to upgrade what I had, not cancel but it wasn't allowed. We managed better seats in AC so it's all good. But it would have been amazing to have front row seats and the cost wasn't that much more sadly than what I paid for an "aisle special seat made available" by the performer and team. I'm just grateful to be seeing her again am doing on a new tour. But I was a little disappointed how the tickets were released.

Now I know it's possible to both love and dread something at the same time because that's exactly how I feel about track 8. The title track better be an upbeat banger or we would instantly hear the collective sigh of fans all around the world. Good Lie seems quite intriguing.

Yes, she actually said that, albeit straight to camera (she was being interviewed confessional style) and not really to the contestants, but still, that's the most sensible and most appropriate piece of advice she has ever given to any dreamer ever. The industry truly is more parts luck and timing than actual talent and resources.

"Also it must be easy to take care of your voice when you don't have to write/produce a song." How writing and producing a song makes it harder for a person to take care of their voice? You take care of your voice by not doing things that would ruin it and by taking steps to preserve it, having professional help and a vocal coach. Celine's voice is definitely not the same, but she's doesn't struggle like Mariah. She lips, but she can still sing hell of a song. I don't see her hiding behind a posse of backup singers.

Lips? Lol (85,407)
by We are Lambily from USA

Someone is clearly biased and has a grudge against Mariah. Celine lips more than half of her shows. Also it must be easy to take care of your voice when you don't have to write/produce a song. Mariah is a music genius, Celine is a great "in my opinion good" singer. Mariah can't relate to being in the industry for 30+ years yet you can't even produce a single hit lyric. Lol. Celine's career is Mariah Carey's nightmare, that's exactly what Tommy had in mind for her, to sing the same basic contemporary songs over and over again. Proceed with caution y'all

Caution tour (85,406)
by Ethan from United States
| |
|
|
I just recently saw Christina's Liberation Tour concert in Oakland with a similar scale, that is theater-venue. I hope Caution Tour considers some kind of production to accommodate for the size of venue. I know Mariah has done this before, aka Charmbracelet Tour, and it was amazing. Mariah's team needs to do is to show some beauty montages, speaking parts, and dancers' routines between costume changes with a theme. To be honest, Christina can sing but nowadays it's hard to hear her singing, which is not my style - too much ad libs, over-the-top vocals, and I can't hear much even though I know her songs. The difference between Mariah and her is that some of her songs can move the crowds like Dirty, Can't Hold Us Down, Fighter, etc., aka more dance songs (she definitely has the empowerment factor to drive the crowds and fans - yes Mariah has Hero/Make It Happen but she needs to make an inspirational speech to inspire more people). At the concert, the choruses are heavily relied on backup singers and backup tracks. It's interesting to notice that not a lot of folks have criticized about her current voice (and she hasn't toured much at all). It's definitely not the same as late 90s and Stripped and Back to Basics era. So all I hope is that Mariah gets back her confidence (as she recently yet slowly did during her Asia tour) and works on her stage presence and performance. Then, she will be great despite the current vocals.

Does she sound good, though? All I am hearing is staccato bursts of struggle and seeing Mariah drinking in the studio. Celine looks after her voice and Mariah abuses it and lips.

Lambs promo wish list for Mariah (85,403)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|
|
As many lambs have said before, Mariah's main vocal issue has and will always be maintenance. She's given hundreds of great performances over the years, but no one gives her credit for those and they don't go viral. Then, she always overdoes it. She doesn't take sufficient breaks in between performances and she's continually singing with inflamed cords. When she paces herself there's a 180 difference in her sound. With that said, she's a known live singer, and we want live performances. 1. I would love for her to do a collection of songs with James in Carpool Karaoke doing a mix of this new album and old hits. 2. Do a live acoustic concert on GMA. 3. Some kind of TV special behind the scenes like what she did with The First Vision or Mimi's era. 4. I want to see her on the covers of magazines and answering unique interview questions we haven't already heard 100 times.

Mariah's best advice (85,401)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
"I don't know that I have one big piece of advice to give to the artists. I think the main thing for them is to be themselves. And we can all give them little pointers or things that'll help them maybe succeed within this arena, but at the end of the day, if somebody's meant to be in the music business for their life, and it's their calling, then that's what it's gonna be. And they've made it this far, and we'll see what the future brings."
This. This should be what any sensible person who ever gives any piece of advice to the contestants of any reality singing competition should be saying. Many have talent, but only about 1% (if not less) of those hopefuls will actually find a career in the music business as a legitimate star. Most of what the coaches say are pretty much very subjective and exaggerated because of their excitement for these talents. They tend to gush too much of their capabilities, and those hopefuls who get carried away by all the praises and don't know better are inadvertently led to believe that they have a secure slot at making it big, as if it were that simple. That statement by Mariah makes sense more than everything she has rambled about on American Idol, and is more realistic and poignant (or hopeful, depending on one's perspective) than anything these coaches have said so far this season or any season, really. Yay for keeping it real.

There's a difference between physically sold and scanned copies vs copies shipped to territories to be sold. Daydream sold 7.5m in the US (in total, since release, not in 1995 alone).

Just a thought (85,396)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
| |
|
|
Hey, this is just my taking on why Mariah suddenly sounds so good in her concerts. It's like she has found the upper belting register again, like it always was there. Maybe the years after she gave birth, she has enjoyed so much being a mother, while her love life has been a roller coaster. The kids are a bit older now, Mariah is steady with Brian, and now it looks like she is enjoying being on stage, and have fun while she sings. Perhaps it is a bit fun to be away from dem babies and Tanaka, and now performing has become a way to take a break and do what she loves, to sing.
