Or, in the spirit of Halloween, she should embrace the "Michael Myers looks like Mariah Carey" meme that is going around.

I actually just listened to both discs a couple times this week and do enjoy it more often than the standard Greatest Hits. The Mr. Dupri mix of ABMB is my favorite. I also love Miss You, rediscovered how much I love the My All dance mix on there, but still can't get down with that remix of The One. I wish CDs still sold so they would package remixes from the next 15 years, especially since those weren't as really available to purchase, at least in the U.S.

Special K I feel like exact same way. With You was so boring upon first listen (opposite of GTFO which I was intrigued with right away) but over time I'm enjoying different aspects of it. Her vocals in the verses are so pretty, and I honestly think it can be a grower at radio and with the gp. It's a cute video, honestly it seems throwback to me somehow and reminds me of the remix videos to AYNAF and JTTW where's she's walking around goofing off to the camera and not taking herself so seriously. She seems to be smiling throughout and exuding happiness from within. Whether that's due to Tanaka or just where she is in life right now, I'm happy for her.

Love the video. Seeing her enamored smile makes me smile. Who hasn't belted a Mariah Carey song into a hairbrush or emulated her hand movements?

GTFO and With You (84,765)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway

|
|
I like GTFO better than With You, but both songs keep popping up in my head, and sometimes I find myself humming the repetitive with yous not even thinking about that I do it. But I don't listen to the songs that often, maybe couple of times a week.
I have played both songs to some of my friends that are not fan of Mariah, and they like GTFO and think it's a fresh sound for her, but With You gets a shrug of the shoulder.
I don't think I will be listening to those songs in a year from now, to be honest, but I'm exited to get the whole album, because both GTFO and With You are decent tracks. I have come to a place as a fan where I listen to the same few songs over and over, and I do it most in the weekends while drinking some beer or wine, and sometimes I can find myself listening to an album from start to finish. The songs I listen to the most is "Make it happen" live at Madison Square Garden, "We Belong Together" live at Live 8, "Always Be My Baby" original version, "I'll be lovin' U long time" live at Teen Choice Awards, and "Anytime You Need A Friend" live at Tokyo Dome.
I also have two say, at least once a month I go to karaoke night at this gay club here in Oslo, and I always sing "Always Be My Baby", it's my signature song, and everybody knows.

Cute video (84,764)

Her acting is still cringe and some shots are weird. But it's probably her best video this decade. If her AMA performance was better, this era would have been getting better press and fans wouldn't be as grouchy. By the way the choreo of the AMA performance was fire. She owes Tanaka for making her look not cheap. I wish he can choreo something with her moving. I can forgive the partial lipping if she had at least put an effort learning how to walk, you know like a normal human being.

The music video serves its purpose and gives more life to the song. MC looked absolutely stunning in every shot. Also I can tell she really had a good time shooting the video and it was a pleasure to watch.

Also for her 2013, American Idol pre recorded season finale performance. We don't have time to name all the others lol. I loved the AMAs performance.

Tanaka did that choreo? Then he's the real star here, the choreo and set design was beautiful. The only problem is Mariah's not moving. I'm sure he can choreo something fresh and cool around Mariah's basic walk. I can forgive partial lipping if she can create a nice show.

I must admit... (84,757)
by MC1989 from Spain

That "With You" has grown a lot in me, until a point where the melody is stuck in my head. Since the epic playback at the AMAs - I liked the presentation though - I've been listening to "With You" a few times per day. Though I preferred GTFO as the first promoted single, I'm so happy Mariah is back with new songs that I like. I will buy the album as soon as it comes. I will not comment anything about her playbacks or the state of her voice until I hear her voice live again, because I'm really concerned. I paid around € 140 to go and see her Christmas show in Madrid in December. I'm so excited. This is a dream come true. But I'm also worried about how she is going to sound. It's the first time she comes to Spain to do a concert since Rainbow. There will be a lot of expectation, so she must bring the 2014-15 Beacon shows voice back or she will be killed by the press and the media.

A little confused (84,756)
by Nikki from usa

Mariah's pretty well known for standing in one spot during a performance. She did the same thing at the 2013 BET awards. I'm not sure why this is making news, because it isn't new. However, in this case, Mariah's pink dress encompasses the entire stage and she has dancers dancing on it. So, why are people expecting her to move? She was brilliant by taking advantage of the fact she turns into a statue on stage and gave a good reason for it. I thought the visual was stunning. I also like the fact she's wearing something other than black for a change. She was a very pretty statue and the scene was appropriate for a slow song. I would love for the next major performance she does to see her kick off her shoes and run around on stage. Who doesn't love watching Mariah do drills? Also, in the theme of Halloween, I want to see Mariah do some kind of special with Elvira. They have the same fashion sense and campy sense of humor. Not to mention, it would confuse the hell out of people which Mariah hasn't done since marrying Nick Cannon.

Yep agreed. Video is all good, and who knew when she stepped out in those great trousers the other day it was fresh from filming a scene for the video. Love the hairbrush part. All very stylish. As I've said before, this song (and now video) are both fine, but I just don't think it has the "pizazz" of a lead single. Wish it the best though, especially after AMAgate.

Randy, go to YouTube and watch any of a dozen videos of Clive Davis and Aretha talking about how she damaged her voice by smoking but was able to regain most of it after quitting. As for the When You Believe performance Mariah's parts are breathy and airy while Whitney's are rich and full. What did you expect for them to do? To try to one up each other at the Oscars?

She looked really pretty in the video. Todd I get exactly what you mean about the singing in the brush scene. That was cute and some people can relate to doing things like that when they're in love. I would have preferred more silly moments like that in the video because that made more sense to me then some of the other scenes.

The video (84,749)
by Mara from United States

I think the video is classy and stunning. Those scenes where she is walking in Hollywood, she looks so beautiful and better than half that are in the game right now. I thought the point of the video was just her reflecting on how she is in love. She was alone, looking beautiful of course, it not overly touchy and over the top. It came off genuine. The shots of her with her hair slicked back was so natural like she was getting ready and just thinking about how happy she is. The vulnerable parts where she sings "promise that you'll keep me warm" was conveyed genuinely. I think the background scenes were classy and it was directed very well. Perhaps she didn't want to put a love interest in since the videos with Nick. I loved it and Mariah that smokey eye makeup was on point. Love that she is stepping out of her comfort zone a bit, from showing her what she considers bad side on single, to wearing darker lipstick. The video I think will help the song and this one at least that has replay value because there is so many different shots. Love the hairbrush moment too. Well done Mariah and keep this female video producer.

Agree, Ribbon is the best song on Memoirs and should have been the lead single in my opinion, and 20th number one (in my world Migrate was a single and the 19th number one). Obsessed aged terribly, was a bit immature and Eminem completely ruined her with his response ("The Warning").

Whitney's voice is more powerful than Mariah's, always was it wasn't a case of Mariah getting embarrassed they are both equally great singers. Drugs aside I don't think even Whitney's voice would have been the power house it was at this stage. Voices change, people lip sync at various times it's just the way it is. I'm no singer but I love a good belt out in the car while I'm driving. If I've got a cold or under the weather I notice I'm not as good, but god forbid Mariah was to get a cold at some point in her 28 year career. I mean can you imagine a star not feeling well at points in their career? Wouldn't that be terrible if people actually discovered she was human and suffered the same as the rest of us.
